Chapter 2

Forgiving Reed wasn't a hard process, April was mad, oh she was mad but mostly at herself but Reed is her best friend, they went through med school together, she was the only one in both Seattle Grace and Mercy West that knew of Emily don't get her wrong she wasn't actively keeping her daughter a secret but she didn't tell anyone about was always this judgement about it but Reed never judged her, hell she helped take care of her to the point Reed moved in wither her for a bit they shared one room while Emily had another it was good.

"How was your first day back?" Reed Asked sitting beside her

"Great I became a glorified secretary on a surgical resident salary" April replied sarcasm clear in her voice Reed gave her an apologetic look.

"Well…it could be worse…you could still be fired" Reed said which April could agree with being a surgical resident with no surgeries to work on was annoying (even though this situation is partially her own fault) at least she was a resident then not at all.

"So are you still trying for Karev or is that a bust?" April asked in between bites of her sandwich. During the period she was fired Reed would come by and tell her gossip about SGMW hospital although her fondness for was prevalent, he was a handsome guy but a bit of a brute honestly but from what Reed was saying he wasn't a complete douche.

"Nah that…didn't work out too much drama honestly but there is someone else" Reed said April looked surprised

"Already!?" Reed rolled her eyes

"I don't want a relationship I just want to y'know…" Reed started giving her look and it took her a while to realize

"oh…OH…who?" April asked

"Mark Sloan" April eyes widened

"The Attending…isn't he with Lexie?"

"Nope they broke up, she is apparently sleeping with Alex" and in that moment April knew exactly why she was doing this, Reed for all her tiny body can fill did have a slight petty streak before April could warn her she got paged, needed her

"Alright I have to go umm… I gave Emily some cash to buy dinner there should be left overs that girl never finishes everything" Reed nodded and chuckled with April. Emily had a habit of buying a lot of food and never being able to finish all of it which was fine there was usually enough so Reed and April could have some. Honestly if it wasn't for both Reed and Emily, April probably would have quit and actually apply for an administrative job somewhere, which she knows she is more then qualified to do but god would it be boring but she is here and she is going to be a surgeon no matter how hard she has to try.

April shift finally ended she miraculously did get to scrub in on a couple jobs with the Chief ( ) which isn't surprising most of her trauma work was double check again to surprising but no one died on her watch which was great. It was morning by the time she got home, the 2 bedroom apartment where she lived with her daughter and sometimes Reed. Reed has her apartment right beside Aprils but the one bedroom in all honesty wasn't that great so Reed tended to come by and stay with her and Emily which was great it allowed April to worry less knowing someone was watching over her daughter when she left her alone. April tries to get nanny but they are expensive and even with the money she gets from the Haywards there is so much she can get before legal action gets involved and honestly at this stage of her career and life she really did not want to go through that.

As she entered the room it was 6:00AM and Emily had school April dropped her stuff on the couch of the small living space they had and went to her own room and changed into some comfortable clothes, she went into the kitchen and started making breakfast, it was some pancakes and eggs and some bacon on the side as well as preparing Emily school lunch, a turkey sandwich, an apple juice with some chips and grapes as snacks, it took her about 45 minutes to get ready, and used the last 15 minutes to grab a quick shower. By the time she got out Emily was up…well as awake as she can be.

Emily is 9 and almost turning 10 in a couple months, she had beautiful red hair and she wasn't as pale as April but still on the fair side, hr eyes were a Hazel colour overall Emily looked like April with some hints of Johnathan in her bone structure one unique part was this specific fleck in her right eye, it was identical to her fathers. Right now she had the worst bed head and she barely had her eyes open, looked exactly like her whenever she woke up.

"Morning bean"

"Mornin mom" Emily replied tiredly rubbing her eyes to get rid as much of the tiredness as possible, as she stepped into the bathroom and got herself ready for school. April gave her quick kiss on the top of her head and then headed for her room to check if she finished her homework which she did and packed it in her bag. Then headed for the living room and setting the table . Emily came out changed and brushed her hair her eyes still had some tiredness but she was ready to eat.

"Cho ho wa werk?" Emily asked with her mouth full

"Don't talk with your mouth full and work was fine, it was a lot to get back too but it was fine" April said then looked at Emily silently

"Are you okay with me going back to Seattle Grace Mercy West? Because I can go back to my old job if you want they seem to like me"

"I'm fine" Emily replied after she swallowed her food

"You sure?" Emily did an exaggerated nod

"You already look happier and I like when your happy" Emily said with a smile, her dimple showing April smiled as well

"I like when your happy too bean" then she got a call, Vanessa another mom who goes to the school. She helps pick up and drop off Emily when she could and when April needed her too. Sweet women the only one really that doesn't judge her for being such a young mom and a good friend.

"Alright that Vanessa time to get leave" Emily put on her jacket while April grabbed her bag quickly put her lunchbox and cell phone in before giving her a kiss on the head and waving her bye as she left the door and April was alone in her apartment. She set her alarm for and hour before she had to go pick up Emily from school and went to bed. Just another day.
