Anakin knew his call was late, but Padmé was looking abnormally irritated when he did call.

"Anakin, did you get your cat spayed?"

"Huh?"

"Spayed. Fixed. So she can't have kittens?"

"Uh, no?" He scratched the back of his head. Jedi didn't have pets and he certainly hadn't had any growing up. "I didn't know I needed to."

Padmé sighed, leaning down to pick Snips up.

"Uh, she's a lot rounder than the last time I saw her."

"She figured out how to open doors by jumping at the sensor until it triggers. There's a feral cat colony around my building. And she's not spayed." She held the cat up. "Your cat-"

"She has a name," he muttered.

"Fine. Snips is pregnant."

"Never mind, that sounds really weird." Anakin scratched the back of his head again. "Oh boy."

"Yes. I took her to the vet and they said she's due in about three weeks. I scheduled a spay appointment in three months so this won't happen again."

"Well, I guess I better go tell the men that their cat is having kittens."

Kaminoans bred their clones to be the best soldiers physically possible. They could power through anything, lift 150% of their body weight, and never backed down from a challenge.

They also melted into absolute goo at the site of a litter of three-week old kittens.

There were five of them in total. One looked almost identical to her mom, two were tuxedos, one was a very sassy calico and the last one was mostly grey with a white belly and paws.

Appo was lying on the floor with the grey kitten very steadily grooming his nose. Rex had the ginger tabby in his arms and she wasn't sure how she felt about it. Fives was sitting cross-legged with the calico asleep in his lap. One of the tuxedo kittens was trying to climb up Anakin's pant leg while her brother watched.

Padmé gave him a fondly exasperated look. "As adorable as this is, if this happens again, I will be mad."

He smiled back at her. "Will do, milady."
