Ruby was bored. She's currently sitting alone in the Atlas military's mission room, staring at the electronic mission board. Everyone else got cool stuff to do. Blake and Weiss are going to investigate a Grimm disturbance in a Dust mine. Weiss liked taking those kinds of missions due to her families attachment to the the issue. Ren, Nora, and Oscar are escorting a supply convoy across the tundra wastes. Then Jaune, Yang, and Penny are on guard duty at Mantles gates, the place which gets the most action! Why was she left out on all the cool jobs?!

She didn't know how it happened, but there were no available missions in the entirety of Atlas. That meant only patrols were listed. Stuff like walking around Mantles walls endlessly or stroll around the city and help people on crosswalks. And while Ruby liked helping people, she wanted to fight some Grimm! Run around, swing Crescent Rose, laser beam monsters with her eyes, the works!

While the mission board had nothing interesting on it currently, it was an electronic one. Meaning missions could pop up in real time whenever they're issued. So Ruby sat in her seat, elbows propped on her knees, while she leaned forward to rest her head on her hands. She simply stared at the board with a tired expression. If a job didn't come up soon, she'd have to just suck it up and accept one of the patrol missions...

*DING*

Her eyes suddenly lit up at the sound of a new mission and focused at the passage on the board. Marrow was already in the process of approaching the board while taking a sip of his coffee. Ruby sprung up into action. "MINE!" she thought in panic. Then in a flutter of red petals, she appeared in front of Marrow just before he reached the board. He flinched backwards at her sudden presence, almost spilling his coffee. "Hey!" he complained. However Ruby ignored that for now. Instead she lifted her finger up and pressed down on the mission which just appeared, then hovered her scroll in front of it to accept.

Now that the immediate issue of sating her boredom for the next eight or so hours was fixed, she turned to Marrow who was giving her an annoyed look. "Oh, uh... Sorry Marrow, didn't seeya there." she chuckled and have a nervous smile.

His eyes simply stared at her in a deadpan. "Uhuh."

He wasn't buying it.

So she just took a big step to the right. "Well... I-gotta-go-on-my-mission-bye!" she said quickly and turned into a flurry of petals once again, flying out of the room.

Marrow watched her leave and rolled his eyes, turning to the mission board. He looked around then groaned. "Ugh, only patrols?" he slumped and his tail sagged downward.

Ruby ended her semblance in the hallway and lifted her scroll up. "Let's see what we got here!" she smiled and looked at her mission briefing. There wasn't much. Not even a name, just an address. Usually missions gave more detail on what exactly she's supposed to do.

"Huh?" she mumbled and swiped down to see if there was any more info. Apparently it was a 'Bodyguard' type mission for...

"A week?!" her eyes widened. She just accepted a week long job... For... Bodyguard work... In the middle of Atlas. Her posture slouched forward and she dropped her arms. "So much for fighting Grimm..." she mumbled in irritation.

Shaking her head, she corrected her posture. "Alright... It's not all bad. I get to hangout with someone... New..." her antisocial-ness began prodding her in the back of the head. What if they were boring? What if they found her boring? What if she creeped them out with her weapon talk?

She ran her hand through her hair and sighed. "This is gonna be a long week..." she mumbled and started walking down the hallway.

Ruby got to her destination and looked up at the large mansion standing before her in awe. She just followed the map on her scroll to the destination and it started taking her through the rich part of Atlas. Looking at the mansions and large buildings were nice, but then the map had her follow a lone road all the way to the largest and nicest of them all.

The front yard wasn't really a 'yard'. It had a fountain and some expertly maintenanced bushes circling around the mansion. Along with the road which made a loop around the fountain to likely drop people off at the front door then circle around. Though off to the side there was some real parking. The mansion itself was a clean white and had decorative sculptures around the door and windows.

Ruby continued to gawk at the whole place. "Wow..." he mumbled. "I wonder if Weiss has a place as good as this?" she question to herself aloud.

Eventually she found her self at the door. It was very big, probably three times her height. She went to knock but then glanced at the door bell off to the side. She stepped over to press it, hearing a loud bell noise coming from inside.

She took her place back at the center of the door and dusted her short combat skirt off then stood straight with a smile. "Alright... Normal knees... Normal knees..." she whispered to herself and prepared for the door to open.

She ended up standing there for a bit over a minute, thinking of ringing the doorbell again. However she heard light footsteps from the other side of the door. The mansion must have just been too big to navigate quickly.

The door opened revealing a rather short man, balding at the top, with a scruffy light-brown mustache. He let out a light yawn and seemed to be slouching. "Welcome, c'mon in..." he mumbled then turned around and kept the door open.

Ruby blinked feeling a bit confused. It was 1pm in the afternoon. Why was this butler about to pass out?

She took a step inside and then the man sneezed suddenly. "Oh, uh... Gesundhe-" she started but the man turned towards her wide eyed. "Oh, I'm so sorry for not greeting you properly!" they said, suddenly feeling a bit out of character.

Ruby stammered "Oh... U-uh... No problem... I'm just here for-" she was unable to finish again due to the butler sneezing once again. "Gesu-" Sneeze. "Ge-" Sneeze. Sneeze. Sneeze.

After the fourth sneeze in a row they looked back up at Ruby, eyes... Yellow? She was certain they were blue just a second ago. Honestly, she doubts she'd even notice if not growing up with Yang and her mood swings.

She looked at him with a bit of concern. "Uhm... Are you okay?" she asked and he returned her question with a happy smile. "Of course I'm okay, this is a wonderous day is it not?" he said and gestured for her to come further inside. He turned her back to her and began leading her towards a few seats on the side.

"Now, would you mind telling me what a nice young lady like yourself has graced us with your visit." he asked while they walked.

Ruby felt awkward from the sudden string of compliments. A nice kind though, they were being very friendly. "O- oh... Uhm.. Well, I just accept-"

The man turned towards her, glaring into her eyes with his deep red. Stopping her in her tracks. "Spit out girly, I ain't got all day you know?!" he suddenly snapped.

Ruby flinched back. What was with this man?! Every second it's like he's a different person! She took another step backwards. "I- I- U- Uhm... Well..." she couldn't get a word out. However the man placed a hand on her shoulder his eyes now pink but he wouldn't make eye contact. "I- It's okay y- young lass, just take your time."

The constant change in attitude and emotion was making her head swirl. She could only barely make out what the odd man was saying in the background while she tried to collect her thoughts. Sneeze She didn't know what to say, what to think. This was so confusing! "Hurry it up already." Every time she tried to speak out she was interrupted but another sudden change in emotion.

"So, what is it you're here for?"

Ruby clenched both fists, closed her eyes and screamed into the air. "Ahhhh! My-name-is-Ruby-I'm-a-huntress-on-a-bodyguard-mission-and-this-was-the-address!" she shouted out extremely quickly.

Silence.

Her eyes were clenched shut but she slowly opened one eye and then the other, looking at the butler nervously. She didn't mean to shout... This was just so... So...

"Well why didn't you just say so?" he questioned in response.

Ruby's nervousness quickly turned to frustration. "Really?! This guy... I oughta..."

"Klein, We have a guest?"

They voice was familiar somehow and it snapped away from other thoughts. Like she's heard it already. Not the tone... More like the speech pattern. She looked over to see a young man, likely somewhere around her age walking down the steps in the middle of the room. He had white hair, icy blue eyes, a fancy vest-like suit, and kept his posture perfect with both hands settled behind his back as he walked.

Everything about him screamed 'Weiss'. Like he was a boy version of her.

Eventually he approached them and Klein. "Ah, hello young master." he greeted him. Apparently he lived here. "This young lady is here for that bodyguard mission you told me about." his eyes flashed red once again. "She's been actin' a bit weird though. I'd watch out." he whispered though not very well.

Ruby's expression flinched. Probably not the best first impression... That needs to be fixed! So she smiled and put her hand out. "Hello, I'm Ruby Rose! Huntress and ready to... Bodyguard!"

Her hand sat there in mid air for a few moments. The young man before her just looked at her, like he was sizing her up or something. It made her feel a bit awkward.

However he eventually reached out as well and took her hand, giving it a single shake before pulling it away. "Right. I am Whitley Schnee. Welcome to Schnee manor, Ms. Rose. I... Didn't expect the mission I sent out to be answered so quickly."

Ruby lowered her hand and chuckled. "Ah, you should have got a notification on your scroll." she answered but then her world shattered. "Schnee Manor?!" her eyes widened. "Whitley Schnee?!" Weiss doesn't just have a home like this... This is her home!

Whitley began talking, however Ruby began to glance around the inner mansion to get a better look at Weiss' house. There were ornaments in every corner. Statues of giant knights. Paintings! One of them looked like a family portrait! This was... This was... "Amazing!" she yelled inside her head with an excited smile plastered on her face while she continued to look around. She finally got to see what Weiss' upbringing looked like! As her best friend, it was mandatory she saw everything... Maybe she should take notes? Weiss always did like it when she took notes and this was her house after all.

Whitley nodded towards Klein. "Thank you, Klein." he said and the butler left the two of them. He then turned back to Ruby. "As I was saying-" then noticed her, back turned to him, looking around the main hall with stars in her eyes. He cleared his throat. "Ms. Rose, are you paying attention?"

Ruby's attention snapped back to Whitley. "Oh! Yes!" she answered quickly and stood up straight. "I heard everything you said, Whitley."

His eyes narrowed. "Really? Because one of the first things I told you was to refer to me as 'Sir' while you're employed." he said and she deflated a bit. "Or 'Sir Whitley', or 'Young Master', 'Mr. Schnee', 'Mr. Whitley'." he shrugged. "It doesn't matter which, just some form of professional honorific."

Ruby felt a bit odd with that but pushed it aside. "R- right... Uhm... Mister... Uh... Whitley... Sir." he gave her a disapproving look for a moment before turning around. "Follow me. I'll brief you on your duties."

Once he wasn't looking her posture sagged and she slouched forward. "He's like Weiss when we first met at Beacon." she thought and started to follow him. "Well... Actually he hasn't insulted me yet... So... Maybe a bit better."

AN:

So I just kinda burped this out. I didn't think too hard about what I wanted to happen, just had fun with it. I know how it's going to end but not everything inbetween. I think I'm going to have somewhere between 5-10 chapters total. Probably none of them being too long either. This chapter didn't have much Whitley in it but the rest will. 99% of the other characters in RWBY are essentially written out of this tbh. It'll focus almost entirely on Ruby's time at Schnee manor.

Anyway, I like the ship between Ruby and Whitley. I think they could be fun together given the chance. I've seen people argue him as just being 'male Weiss', so why not just ship Ruby w/ Weiss. And there's a very good reason for that- I don't think Weiss is gay and I ship her with Jaune. So uh... Whitley!

I also think Ruby dating Whitley and possibly becoming Weiss' Sister-in-law is hilarious.

This is rated M because I'm not sure how far I wanna take it. If it doesn't reach an 'M' rating by the end then I'll switch it to 'T'.

Hope you enjoyed it, please review!
