It had been days since Blossom had last spoken to Brick. There wasn't anything to say. She had been on a roller coaster of emotions since they'd fought, or more, since he'd freaked out on her for no apparent reason. She was upset with herself for letting her guard down around him, and furious that she hadn't stood up to him. She looked weak in front of him. She knew it and it made her blood boil. She hadn't done anything wrong. That's all she knew for certain.
Sitting next to him in nearly all her classes was torture. They weren't speaking or even making eye contact anymore. Let alone, working on assignments. Things seemed worse between them now then when the boys had first arrived at school.
The bell rang, signalling the end of Literature and Mr. Edwards dismissed the class. Lately, Blossom had been the first person out the door, but today she needed to stay after and speak to her teacher.
"Blossom." Mr. Edwards looked up from his desk, setting his book down. "What can I do for you?"
"Mr. Edwards." She started. "I really don't mean to be difficult." She shifted uncomfortably. "'It's about the book analysis essay. I know there are only a few days left until it's due, but things aren't working out with my partner…"
"Oh?" He said, clearing his throat.
"I was hoping that it would be okay if I did mine alone?" She swallowed.
He interlaced his fingers over his desk. "This was meant to be a group assignment… I won't be able to give you points for the 'partner' section of the grade. If you want to do yours alone then I will allow it but you'll be taking a hit on your grade."
Blossom looked down at her feet, it's about what she'd expected him to say. "Okay, let's say I got 100% on every other section-"
"C" He already knew what she was going to ask. "The best possible grade you can get on this assignment is a C."
She chewed on the inside of her cheek. She had never gotten below at A- before. "Okay. That's fine, thank you Mr. Edwards." She started walking and then stopped. "Brick doesn't know-" she couldn't figure out how to word what she was trying to say.
"His partner grade won't be affected, since it's out of his control." He understood again. "If you find a way to work through your differences, you can still change your mind."
Blossom forced a smile and left.
"What's up with Brick? It's like he's gotten even moodier lately. If that's possible." Buttercup said, standing in the lunch line with Butch.
Butch looked across the room to where Brick was seated alone, arms crossed. "He's been a fucking pain these last couple of days. That's for sure." He rolled his eyes. "Whatever it is, it has something to do with Blossom. She hasn't said anything?"
"Blossom?" Buttercup looked confused. "Now that you mention it she does seem a little off."
"She came over to work on some school thing with him after you left the other day." Butch explained. "They were fine for a couple hours and then we heard Brick yelling and Blossom dipped out."
Buttercup scrunched her nose and her eyes found Blossom, seated at her usual lunch table. "She's been spending a lot of time in the simulation room." She said finally. "I wonder what the fuck happened?"
This was the 11th time that they'd sat next to each other in complete silence, since Monday night. He had been so pissed off that night that he'd forced her to leave. He grabbed her… He didn't like thinking about it, but everything from that night replayed over and over again in his head. They had actually been getting along... Why did he freak out on her? At the time he was furious that she'd been 'going through his things' but all he'd actually seen was that she'd touched one book. One fucking book.
Is that really what it was about? No. He was sure that if she'd seen 'The Great Gatsby' sitting there while he had been in the room, she still would have picked it up. But it wasn't about the book at all, or her touching his things. It was about his.. feelings for her. Feelings that he wasn't sure he wanted. He rubbed his temples, I'm such an asshole, he thought. Of course she didn't wanna talk to him after the way he'd acted. He took a glance at Blossom, she was turned so far away from him that she was basically sideways in her chair. He looked at her hand, the same hand that he had recklessly shot fire into, just to get rid of some photos that he was embarrassed about having kept.
He sighed and noticed Blossom tense up next to him. He really needed to talk to her. If he could just apologize. He knew he owed her at least that much.
He'd thought that if he pushed her away things would be easier, for the both of them. But he was finding out the hard way that that wasn't the case. He really messed up.
When the bell rang for the end of class he had to use his power in order to catch up to her.
"Blossom." He said, "We need to talk."
She slowed down a little when she heard him but she didn't stop or look at him.
"No. We don't." She said, "There's nothing to say."
He reached for her hand, but she pushed him away on contact and sent him flying into a row of lockers. She finally turned to face him, "Don't. Touch me." She said through her teeth.
Students that were around them in the hall quickly fled.
"Fine. What about our essay?" He asked, ignoring that she'd just pushed him.
Blossom relaxed slightly, "I've already talked to Mr. Edwards," She said. "We're no longer partners."
Brick's jaw fell slightly open. "Okay… well.. you left some things at my house."
"Oh, I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience." She said in her most sarcastic voice. "I already have a new planner." She started walking away and then stopped and glanced back over her shoulder. "I know, why don't you just burn them." She smiled.
Ouch. She really knew how to hit him where it hurt. He'd never seen her smile that way before. It didn't look like a face that she should even be able to make. Her mouth had formed a beautiful pink smile but her eyes looked as though they were filled with hate. Hate he didn't know she had.
"She's still coming to the party though, right?* Buttercup asked.
"Idunno." Bubbles began, "She won't tell me what happened. She barely even leaves the simulator anymore! I'm starting to get worried."
Buttercup rolled over on her bed. "I mean, when's the last time any of us ever stepped into that room? It's been ages!" She said, "She must be really pissed."
"It sure seems like it, but why?" Bubbles asked, confused.
"Butch said it has something to do with Brick, and that he's been in a shittier mood the last few days too."
"I hope she's okay." Bubbles gave a half smile.
"You don't think Brick will cancel, do you?" She asked, worry setting into her face. "I really wanna go."
Blossom walked into the bedroom, dripping with sweat. She pulled her hair tie out and headed for the shower.
"Hey Bloss!" Bubbles said, giving her a weak smile.
Blossom nodded in response.
"So, I know you've been in a bad mood lately and I know you don't wanna talk about it, so I won't ask again.. but are you still gonna go to the party with us Saturday?" Bubbles tried.
"Sorry Bubs, but I'm definitely not going." Blossom said, closing the door and turning on the water.
Buttercup sighed. "Well at least she gave us a straight answer."
The next day in art Bubbles was sitting at her table with Kim and Clara.
"Well if she's not gonna be there then we'll probably all have more fun. No offense Bubs, Blossom is great and all but..you know." Kim confessed.
Bubbles looked down, playing with a loose thread on her shirt. "I know that she can be a little much.. but I still wish she was coming. She might not drink, herself, but she never tries to stop anyone else from having fun."
"What about that time Harry was taking shots-" Clara started but was cut off.
Bubbles scoffed. "He was being really reckless that night! Even he thanked her for stopping him the next day!" She laughed.
"Okay fine, why did she decide not to go anyway? You said before that she was actually looking forward to it." Clara asked, confused.
Brick could hear them chatting from across the room, his heart sank when he'd heard her say Blossom wasn't gonna be at the party. It sank even lower, finding out that she had been excited about it at one time. Knowing that he was the reason she wasn't going. The only reason.
Bubbles walked across the room to sharpen her pencil. Brick took the opportunity to approach her.
"Hey." Brick said, leaning onto the wall next to her, startling her.
"Umm, Hi?" Bubbles asked, eyeing him curiously.
He sighed, not wanting to ask her this. He felt stupid. "I need to cash in on that favor you owe me."
Bubbles pulled her pencil out of the sharpener and blew off the dust. "Okay?" She said, a little worried. "What-"
"I need you to convince Blossom to come on Saturday." He said flatly.
She laughed. "Why do you care if she's there or not?"
"I don't." He folded his arms over his chest. "That's not the point. You owe me."
"Brick, I've already tried. She said she definitely wasn't going." Bubbles explained, starting to walk back to her seat.
Brick grabbed her wrist gently. "Bubbles. Please."
She had never seen him so desperate.
"All you have to do is try and we'll be even." He said, letting go of her.
"Okay. I'll try." She turned back to him, and handed him her phone. "I'll text you and let you know."
He typed his number into her cell and gave it back. "Thanks." He muttered.
"You brought the list right?" Buttercup asked, entering Malph's.
Butch pulled the list out of his pocket. "Yep, right here. How'd we get stuck doing the shopping, anyway?"
"Uh, it was your idea to have a party." She laughed.
Butch unfolded the list and glanced at it, "Fair point. So we need chips, soda, a couple juices, solo cups, and paper plates."
They ventured through the grocery store picking out the items.
"Bubbles is bringing a cake." Buttercup said, picking out the plates.
Butch glanced around the aisle, making sure nobody was around before grabbing Buttercup's ass, "You already have enough cake." He winked.
She lightly pushed him, a huge smile on her face.
Bubbles stood at her closet, trying to find a cute outfit. Tonight she really wanted to catch Boomer's attention.
"Bloss, are you sure you don't wanna come? Just for a little while?" Bubbles begged again.
Blossom crossed her arms over her chest. "For the thousandth time, I'm not going." She laughed. "Actually I was gonna meet up with Luke tonight."
"Oh, Luke?" Bubbles tried her best to hide her disappointment. "Okay. Well, I hope you have fun then! But maybe you can still stop by after?"
Blossom shook her head in disbelief and started getting ready. Her sister definitely was persistent.
Bubbles picked up her phone from the charger and sent a text to Brick:
Sorry. I promise i tried!
She clicked her phone screen off and went back to her closet. "Ooh!" She finally said, picking out a short pastel pink dress, with a strawberry pattern.
"That's cute!" Blossom said, coating her lips in a layer of clear gloss.
"You think so?" Bubbles gushed, excitedly.
Blossom looked at her sister and smiled, "I think he'll love you in that."
Bubbles blushed a little and hid her face, "What are you wearing?" She asked.
Blossom sighed and flopped down on her bed, "I don't know yet."
"Bloss, do you… like him?" Bubbles sat in the bed next to her.
"Who?" She asked, confused.
"Nevermind." Bubbles smiled and walked into the bathroom. Her sister's response was an answer in and of itself.
Bubbles finished getting ready, said goodnight to the Professor and headed for the boys place with the cake.
Butch let her in, taking the cake to the kitchen island. Buttercup was already there setting out bowls of chips, Brick was in his room with the door shut and she didn't see Boomer.
Bubbles sat on the couch, pulled a pack of balloons out of her bag and started blowing them up.
"When are the guys supposed to be here?" Butch asked Buttercup.
"Mitch had to stop and get weed from his cousin, they said they'd be here at about 9." Buttercup looked down at her watch, 20 minutes.
Bubbles joined the other two in the kitchen, feeling a little silly sitting by herself in the living room. She leaned onto the island, propped up on her elbows.
"Your boyfriend is in the bathroom." Buttercup laughed, eliciting a look of confusion from Butch.
Bubbles scoffed, but was all smiles. "Hes not-"
Right on queue Boomer came out of his bedroom. "Hey. I didn't know you were here." He smiled at Bubbles.
"Hi, Boomer." She stood up straight and glanced over at Butch and Buttercup. Just as she thought, they were both staring. "So umm..."
"So, I see that you brought balloons!" He said walking into the living room. She followed, thankful to have all the eyes off them.
She could hear them snickering from the kitchen and she rolled her eyes.
There was a knock on the door, as people started to arrive. Once they were sort of alone, Boomer got a good look at Bubbles. "Wow. You look great." He said, running his hand through his hair. "That dress is… You're really-"
"Thank you." She smiled brightly, touching his arm, "You look really great too."
They looked over at the door. Jason, Kim and Clara were walking in and Robin was already in the kitchen, chatting with Buttercup.
"Hey man!" Jason came over first, to greet Boomer. "Bubs." He said hugging her.
Clara, Kim and Robin also joined them in the living room, taking seats on the couch.
Brick came out of his room, not wanting to seem like an antisocial loser in his own house. Plus he couldn't let anyone see that he was that upset over Blossom not coming. He went straight to the kitchen and started eating a handful of chips. "Where is the liquor?" He asked Butch.
"Oh yeah, duh." Butch went to his room and came back with an assortment of bottles, which he set out on the counter. At the same time Mitch and Harry arrived, weed in hand.
Brick grabbed the bottle of whiskey and poured himself a whiskey soda. "Who made those?" He asked, eyeing a huge bowl of colorful jello shots.
"I did." Robin smiled, from the couch. "They're really good!"
He grabbed one, and inhaled it.
"Wow. You're really planning on getting fucked up tonight, huh?" Butch nudged him.
Buttercup grabbed a jello shot too, "Count me in."
Blossom was walking down the street to meet Luke at a sushi place downtown. She was a little early so she had some time to kill. The breeze felt really good on her face. She was a little hot in her pleather jacket, even though she was wearing a dress under it. She pulled out her cell and checked her notifications, it was 9:46pm. She didn't wanna show up and wait that early, it seemed a little desperate.
As much as she hated thinking about him, Brick kept creeping into her mind. She felt a pang of guilt for making plans with Luke. She wasn't trying to give him the wrong idea but she needed to get out of the house for a while, and being around someone different for a while sounded great.
Blossom. Leave here. Go to the party.
A melodic voice sang in her head. She was confused by it, at first, scrunching her nose.
You should always follow your heart. Go.
"Yeah." She said out loud. To nobody. "I should go to the party, I will go."
That's gooood my dear.
She smiled, welcoming the voice. She felt at ease, lighter all of the sudden, like she was floating. She looked down, smiling. She was floating, flying even. When had she started flying? Oh well, she thought. The wind feels nice.
She didn't hesitate outside the door like she normally would've. Tonight something was drawing her in. Her mind was in control, it knew what she wanted.
Yes. That's it. Forget about Luke, talk to Brick. you like Brick, hmm?
Yeah, she thought. Talk to Brick, that was a good idea. They did need to talk. She smiled, walking in without knocking. Everyone was in the living room, it was loud so nobody heard her enter.
She took her shoes off and went into the living room.
Bubbles looked up, noticing someone come in. "Blossom?!" She said, a mixture of confusion and excitement. "I thought you were meeting Luke?"
Everyone stared, surprised to see her there. Most notably, Brick. Who looked very confused.
"Luke?" Blossom asked, tilting her head slightly to the side.
Forget Luke. You're here for Brick. Talk to him. Fix things.
She smiled. She just came to fix things with Brick. She left Bubbles' side and everyone watched as she walked over to him, he was leaning with his back against a wall.
Privacy.
Brick swallowed hard as she approached him. He didn't think she was coming. Why had she changed her mind suddenly?
Blossom stopped in front of Brick, she leaned forward until she was right to his ear. His heart was pounding. "Brick." She whispered. "I need to talk to you. Alone." She started heading for his bedroom. He was still standing in the living room, taken aback.
"What's that about?" Buttercup asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Weird." Bubbles said, perplexed but smiling.
Clara and Kim reignited their conversation. Jason started playing a video game.
"Idunno, but somebody pass me the blunt!" Butch said looking around for it.
Blossom was almost to his door, when she felt like something was pulling her to the kitchen instead.
Have A drink. Loosen up. You want to have fun, don't you. Its fuuun to drink.
It's fun? She smiled, of course it's fun. That's what teenagers do. She went into the kitchen, Brick was right behind her.
"Blossom… Is everything okay?" Brick asked, eyeing her cautiously.
"I'm- she felt positive, happy energy flowing through her. Telling her she was great and happy and just wanted to be alone with Brick. "I'm in a really good mood tonight!" She said smiling at him and then looking at the bottles of alcohol. "Brick." She said, "Can you make me a drink?"
He folded his arms across his chest. "You want me to make you a drink?" He smirked. "With alcohol?"
"You're so funny." She laughed, "It's fun to drink."
"Okay then." He smiled, confusedly, shaking his head a little, before grabbing some juice out of the fridge and mixing her a drink.
She took a sip of the colorful drink, "Mmm this is really good." She said, taking another longer drink. Something caught her eye and she turned back, spotting the bowl of jello shots. "What are these?"
"Jello shots that Robin made." He answered. "They're pretty good."
She grabbed one and threw one to him. "Have one with me."
Everyone was split into little groups, having their own conversations and sipping their drinks.
Butch passed Boomer the blunt. He was about to take a hit, "Bubbles?" He asked, "Do you smoke?"
She giggled, "I've never tried it."
"Do you want to?" He asked, curiously.
"Idunno, she said. "I'm not against trying it.." she smiled. She had always wanted to try, but didn't think she would like it much. She definitely didn't care for the smell.
Boomer gave a shy smile and looked down at the blunt in his hand. "I could give you a shotgun.."
"Am I supposed to know what that means?" She laughed.
"It's when… someone else blows the smoke into your mouth, instead of you inhaling directly from the source." He explained. "If that makes sense. It would give you a much less intense high."
Her eyes flickered down to his lips and then back to his gorgeous eyes. "Okay." She agreed.
"Really? Because you totally don't have-"
"I want to." She insisted, standing up. "But can we do it in your room?"
Boomer swallowed hard and took Bubbles into his room, shutting the door.
"So, this is your room?" She looked around. "I really like your closet."
He watched her. The girl of his dreams was standing in his room. He sat on the edge of his bed and motioned for her to sit too.
She sat beside him, facing him on the bed, her heart thumping wildly in her chest.
"Ready?" He asked.
She leaned a bit closer to him. He lifted the blunt to his mouth and took a hit, inhaling. Then he leaned in too, placing his hand on the back of her neck and gently pulling her towards him. Their lips just barely touched, as he exhaled the smoke into her mouth. She breathed it in and then let out the remainder of the smoke.
His hand was still at the back of her neck, she hadn't tried to pull away. She leaned ever so slightly closer to him and bit her bottom lip. He inched forward, kissing her softly. When he tried to pull back, she put her hand on his chest gently and leaned in further, bringing their lips together again. He kissed her deeper this time. A knock at the door ended their blissful moment. They both pulled back and started laughing.
"Dude, you took off with the weed!" Butch complained.
"Aren't you going to have anything?" Blossom asked Brick. She was almost finished with the drink he made for her.
"Sure." He replied, still eyeing her. "I guess I will." He made himself another whiskey soda and took a long swig.
Blossom noticed how different his drink was from hers. "Is it good?"
Brick looked down at the nearly finished drink she was still holding, "You.. wanna try it?" He asked.
She set her own drink down and put her mouth to his glass, without a second thought. Which he found both surprising and amusing. "I like it."
She finished the rest of her drink and set the glass on the counter.
That's good Blossom. you feel better.. Now, privacy.
Blossom felt a sudden urge, pulling her towards Brick's bedroom. She took a couple steps and then glanced over her shoulder at him, he was looking back at her. "Come on," She said. He followed, curiously. She put her hand on the doorknob.
"Blossom. What are you-" he started.
"We need to talk, right? Didn't you say that?" She smiled mischievously, opening his door and walking in.
She flipped the light on and waited for him to enter. Then she locked the door. He swallowed.
"You're acting kind of.. different today." He said, almost a question.
"Am I?" She asked, sitting on his bed. "I feel more like myself today than normal."
He eyed her, on his bed. "Oh?"
The soothing voice in her head was telling her to stop worrying and follow her heart.
"Sit down with me." She patted the empty space on the bed.
He hesitated for a moment before sitting on the opposite end of the bed.
She scoffed. "How can we talk if you're so far away all the time?" She scooted over to him, closing the space between them.
"Are you drunk?" He asked, not understanding what was happening.
She laughed, "I've had one drink, and a jello shot. And you were right there. So how could I be drunk?"
He thought for a second, "Bubbles said you were going out tonight, with someone. Luke. What happened to that?" He asked.
"Did you not want me to come?" She raised an eyebrow slightly. "Because I can-" The voice was back in her head.
Stay. Don't you want to fix things?
"I did... want you to come." He confessed. "I thought you didn't want to come? So you made other plans…"
Blossom took her jacket off and laid it on the other end of the bed. "I don't want Luke." She said matter of factly. "I want to fix things with you."
His jaw fell open slightly now. "You do?" He asked, in disbelief. "Cause I.. thought you hated me."
"I don't hate you!" She scoffed. She got up now, standing in front of him, almost between his legs. "Do you honestly believe that?"
"I mean, you were really upset the other day-" He began. "Which is understandable-"
Blossom looked down at the floor for a second. "I overreacted."
"No. I overreacted. He corrected her. "You reacted. I shouldn't have freaked out on you..."
She fiddled with her hair, averting his gaze.
"I wasn't trying to go through your things.. I was just-"
"I know..." He said.
Why did he keep the photos, hmm?
Blossom smiled at him, warmly. "Brick. I'm not mad about the photos. I'm just.. curious." She said, "Why did you keep them?"
"I thought.. you just looked so-"
Kiss him.
She took a step closer, standing between his legs now, as he sat close to the edge of the bed. She rested her knee on the bed, it was touching his groin slightly. He was frozen in place, just staring at her. She leaned forward, wrapping her arms around his neck and pressed her lips into his. The 'what the fuck is happening' thoughts quickly fled from his mind. She was intoxicating, drawing him in. He couldn't help himself, and he didn't want to. This may have been the only opportunity he'd ever have to kiss her sweet strawberry lips. Brick's hands were at her waist, pulling her on top of him, almost immediately. She sat on his lap, straddling him, while they made out. His hands travelled over her dress, from her waist to her hips, and then landed on her butt. She took his red hat off and flung it to his desk. She ran her fingers through his medium length hair, before pushing him back, onto the bed. He looked up at her, his heart pounding. She started tugging the straps of her dress down.
"Whoa. Blossom! His eyes widened considerably. "You don't have to-"
She smiled at him. "You're really cute, when you're trying to be responsible." She pulled her dress down, just below her bra. "But you've already seen my bra, remember?" He was still in shock, when she leaned back down and started kissing him again.
After a long while, Blossom laid down next to him and rested her head on his chest. She fell asleep listening to the lull of his heartbeat. Realizing that she was asleep, he readjusted the top of her dress the best he could. Then he laid there playing with her hair gently until he fell asleep too.
"Where the fuck did Blossom and Brick go?" Buttercup said, standing up to get another slice of pizza. She looked at her watch, 11:22pm.
"I saw them go into his room." Harry said, shrugging.
"What?" She asked, confused. "She sat back down on the couch, next to Butch. He took a huge bite out of her pizza, while she was getting situated. "You ass!" She yelled, laughing.
He winked at her. "It tastes better when it's yours."
A slight blush crept over her face, as she glanced around to gauge if anyone heard his comment. It didn't seem like they had. She pulled out her phone and typed a message to butch:
You owe me a slice of pizza.
She set her phone in her lap as she watched Butch slide his vibrating phone out of his pocket. He read her message, and didn't look at her. Just replied:
What do i get out of it?
She sent back:
Anything you want (;
When his phone went off again, she saw him smile:
I want you
She read it and rolled her eyes. And then another text came through:
To be my girlfriend.
She swallowed, staring down at her phone for a long time. "Okay." She finally whispered out loud.
Butch looked over at her, his eyes were wide. "Okay.. what?" He asked, uncertain if she was playing or not.
A huge smile suddenly took over her whole face, she rolled her eyes. "Okay… okay." She bit her lip.
He leaned over to her, grabbing her face and kissing her right in front of everybody. She let him.
When he pulled away, everyone was staring at them. Harry and Mitch looked shocked, like they were waiting for Buttercup to kick his ass. Bubbles was practically jumping for joy.
"Knew it!" Boomer declared. "I fucking knew it. As soon as I saw her in your bed that day I-"
Bubbles squealed, "What?!"
"Boomer, shut the hell up!" Buttercup laughed, launching a pillow at him.
Mitch and Harry exchanged glances. "So, uh. How long has this been going on?" Mitch asked.
"None of your business." Buttercup gave them a warning look, still smiling.
"Eek, I'm so happy for you!" Bubbles beamed at them.
Slowly everyone went back to their precious activities.
"Seriously though." Bubbles said, "Should we check on Bloss? It's been like an hour and a half."
"Yeah, and I don't hear anything. Are you sure they're in there?" Buttercup asked Harry.
"Yep. Unless they snuck out the window." He said, laughing.
Buttercup stood up and walked to Brick's bedroom door. She put her ear to it and didn't hear anything so she knocked quietly.
Brick came to the door a few seconds later, unlocking it before he cracked it open slightly. He already figured someone would come eventually. "She's… sleeping." He said, glancing over his shoulder.
Buttercup raised her eyebrow and pushed him out of the way a tad, so she could see. "Okay..."
Bubbles came to his door now, smiling. She peeked in and saw her sister asleep in Brick's bed. "So cute!" She said.
Brick folded his arms over. "Am I free to go now?" He smirked.
"Fine." Buttercup said. "But you better not try anything."
Bubbles gave him a knowing smile. And the two girls went back to the living room.
Brick stepped quietly back into his room, closed the door and turned the light off, climbing back into bed to hold Blossom.
Butch pulled Buttercup onto his lap, wrapping his arms around her. They had been sneaking around for weeks, neither of them knowing what exactly was happening between them. He was hopeful when he sent her that text but knew it could easily be treated as a joke if she'd not wanted to take that step with him. He didn't want to risk what they already had, by asking for too much. But now he was deliriously happy that he'd sent it.
"So are Blossom and Brick…" Robin trailed off, "Also..?"
Buttercup shook her head a little, "I thought they couldn't stand each other. So.. I'm fucking confused."
"I think he's always had a thing for her, but he's never admitted it." Butch added, smirking. Boomer nodded in agreement.
Bubbles took a sip of her mixed drink and looked at Boomer. "Are you gonna teach me how to play pool?"
His face broke into a smile and he got up, helping her up and guided her to the table.
"Guess they're next." Kim whispered, smiling.
Clara watched as Boomer handed Bubbles a pool cue and began explaining the rules. "It's about time!"
"You super powered people sure are fucking drawn to each other, huh?" Harry started laughing, lighting another blunt.
Buttercup and Butch both smiled and rolled their eyes.
"Let's do a shot!" Clara yelled. "I'm not feeling it enough yet." She got up and pulled Kim into the kitchen. "Anyone else want one? Buttercup?"
Buttercup reluctantly got off Butch and went to the kitchen. It was a party after all. "Anything but tequila!" She said, remembering the last time she'd had it. Although, that was actually a pretty awesome night.. she thought to herself, flashbacks of her and Butch's first hook up playing in her mind. "Nevermind. Better make sure it's tequila." She looked over at the sofa, giving Butch a nod to come over.
"Uh, okay." Clara laughed, pouring the shot. "Butch?"
Butch joined them. "I'm already really high, but fuck it. Let's party." They all clinked their shot glasses together and downed them. Kim and Clara made disgusted faces from the harsh taste.
Jason had been in the living room, talking to Mitch and Harry. He got up stretching and decided to have a jello shot. He grabbed a few extras and headed for Boomer and Bubbles.
"Wow. You're a natural." Boomer said, walking around the table.
Bubbles bounced around, happy to have made a a couple balls in. "It's probably just beginner's luck." She smiled.
"Yeah right, she's good at everything she does." Jason joined them. "Take a jello shot with me."
He tossed them each one.
"I've never had one, are they good?" Bubbles asked, removing the lid and poking at the jello with her finger.
Boomer laughed, beaming at her. "They're good..If you like jello, anyway."
"I do! Do you chew it?" She asked, eyeing the container, confused.
They both laughed.
"Just take it!" Jason smiled, urging her, lifting his own to his mouth.
"That's what he said!" Butch shouted from across the house.
Bubbles took hers and shook herself out a bit. "More alcohol than I thought," she said. "Wow. Those are strong!"
"Oh, I put way more alcohol than the recipe called for." Robin walked up, winking at her.
Boomer took his shot, making a green ball into the pocket. Causing Bubbles to cheer.
"Are you cheering for your opponent?" Jason asked, shaking his head in disbelief. Robin laughed.
Bubbles watched as he sunk his next shot too, smiling happily. "I want us both to do good.* She said simply. "Besides, I am a cheerleader." She giggled.
"How about making it interesting then?" Jason raised his eyebrow.
Boomer looked up, his concentration interrupted.
Jason smiled deviously, "Winner gets… to make one request of the loser?"
Bubbles and Boomer exchanged looks. "Fine with me." Bubbles finally said.
Boomer smirked at her. "You're on."
Back in the kitchen, Butch had remembered the giant cake in the fridge and pulled it out. "This is gonna be fucking good."
"Sweets sound horrible to me right now." Clara made a face, leaving the room. Kim laughed and went with her.
Buttercup pushed a bunch of stuff out of the way and lifted herself onto the counter, next to the cake. Butch didn't bother with a knife or plate. He dug straight into the corner of the cake with a fork. "Mmm. Mm. Sooo good!" He cried out. He took another fork full and lifted it to Buttercup's mouth, but before she could eat it he took it back and ate it himself.
Buttercup scoffed, she wrapped her leg around him and pulled him into her. "Don't. Play with me. When it comes to food." She warned him, in a half joking tone.
"Yes ma'am." Butch put another fork full of cake to her lips, and then pulled it back slightly. "Then again… what happens if I keep playing?" He raised his eyebrow suggestively. "Do I get a punishment?"
"Oh.. I'll give you a punishment!" She threatened.
He ate the cake immediately. "Punishment please!" He said through a mouthful of dessert.
"You won't like it." She said, shaking her head slowly.
He leaned into her and pulled her closer to the edge of the island, towards him. His hand drifted up her back, sending chills up her spine. Her back arched automatically, bringing them even closer. She swallowed. When his hand reached the back of her neck, he gathered the ends of her hair into his fist, and tugged gently. She let out a breath, not taking her eyes off of his. His other hand grasped at the top of her thigh. He pulled her into a series of kisses, each one deeper than the last. As their lips slowly pulled apart, he tugged on her hair again, a little harder this time. She let out a soft moan as her face was angled towards the ceiling, exposing her slender neck.
The party was louder now, with music filling the air. So she was sure that nobody had heard her. Not being able to contain himself, he brought his lips to her neck. He sucked on her neck, moving to a new spot every few seconds to avoid leaving a mark. He travelled down to her collar bone. Then he removed his hand from her thigh and wrapped his arm around her, trying to pull her even closer into him.
They heard footsteps and pulled away, pretending to still be eating cake. They were a couple now but they still didn't want to put on a show for everybody.
"You guys ever gonna join the party?" Mitch asked.
When Blossom woke up, the room was dark. Too dark to see anything. Where was she? She shifted, and felt someone pressed into her back, strong arms, warped firmly around her waist. Suddenly a flood of memories crashed into her, causing her to jolt up. Oh god. What had she done? Her mind was filled with the embarrassing memories of her… coming on very strongly.. to Brick.
She threw her hands to her face to cover her shame, even though it was dark. She heard noise and music coming from the living room. What time was it? She looked at her watch. 2:04am. Brick's arm was still around her. She thought about what had happened a few hours earlier, it was a little hazy. She knew she had made a fool of herself though. She thought she was going to die of embarrassment.
Then again… pictures of her and Brick making out, entangled in each other's body's started flickering in her mind. She smiled. It couldn't have been that bad, because he had been all over her too. He certainly hadn't tried to stop her, in fact, she remembered him pulling her closer. His hands were all over her. She didn't remember falling asleep, but obviously Brick had gotten out of bed to turn the light off at some point. Did that mean he could've left after she'd dozed off, but he stayed with her instead? Her hand trailed down to the arm wrapped around her. He stayed and held her? Now she was smiling and confused.
You're welcome.
She heard a familiar voice and jumped out of bed, turning the light on. Brick was startled awake. He sat up and rubbed his face.
"HIM?" she managed, looking around the room. There was nobody there but her and Brick. But the voice had sounded so close. She went to the bathroom, turning that light in too.
Yes Blossom. Just a voice in your head, no need to panic my dear.
Suddenly she remembered the voice from before, telling her to fix things, and to kiss Brick. "Why?" She asked out loud, staring at nothing.
"Blossom. What's going on?" Brick asked. Suddenly HIM's voice filled the room, for both of them to hear.
Brick, my boy. I was just.. Speeding things along. That's all… Now if you'll both excuse me.
"HIM?! What did you do?" Brick demanded. But the voice and presence was already gone.
Blossom and Brick stared at one another, neither of them knowing what to say.
"So, that was HIM in my head last night?" She asked finally, glancing at the floor.
"What exactly happened last night?" He asked. "What-" he started and then stopped, not wanting to say it. Not wanting to think about it. "Mind control?" He finally managed, not looking at her.
Blossom sat back down on the bed next to him, not thinking twice about it. "No." She said, "I mean, I don't think so. Not exactly.. kind of?" She didn't know how to say what she was thinking. She looked at him now, "It didn't feel like it was completely controlling me, more like influencing me."
"Okay…" he trailed off. "Then everything-" He couldn't get the words out. He swallowed them down, breaking his eye contact with her.
Blossom looked at him, her heart felt like it was about to fall out of her stomach. She didn't know, but he looked like he felt the same way. "Brick… no.." she began. "I wasn't forced to do anything. It's not like that." She bit the inside of her cheek.
He looked back at her again, maybe almost, a little hopeful.
When he didn't say anything, she continued. "It just led me here and… it felt like it was.. drawing me to you." She let out a loud sigh, "I wish I could explain it better… Okay. It's like he was telling me to do things, but I wasn't forced to do them. He just took the worry out of things. It made it easier.. or possible, to make choices that I've always wanted to make, but normally talk myself out of." She looked down now, fumbling with the hem of her dress. She'd basically just admitted to him that she wanted to do those things with him last night. She had wanted to.. maybe for a while now. But now he knew..
She felt her face get hot, as they sat in silence. The longer he didn't respond, the more she felt like she was way off about what had happened between them last night. She was the one who initiated the whole thing. Of course he didn't want her. She felt stupid for ever thinking anything could happen between them, and even worse for falling for him.
When she couldn't take it anymore, she stood, scooping her jacket from beside her and walked to the door. she didn't look back at him, she couldn't bear the certain rejection. She needed to get home. She twisted the doorknob, the only thing standing in the way of escaping her embarrassment. She felt tears stinging at the corners of her eyes.
Before she could pull the door open, Brick had closed the distance between them. In one swift motion he turned her around and enveloped her, his lips were on hers, kissing her tenderly. Her tears actually fell now. He wiped them from her face and pulled her head into his chest, "Please don't go." He said, almost whispering. It sounded foreign coming from his lips. He slipped his hands into hers, before flipping the light switch back off and guiding her back to bed.
He scooted himself in first, closer to the wall and then pulled her into him. She laid facing him, although it was too dark to see much, she could make out the outline of him. His arm was under her neck, keeping her close and his other hand was brushing against her soft cheek, and running through her long hair. They were both thankful for the darkness, neither of them were very good with their emotions and they felt safe hidden in the black of the room.
"Blossom." He whispered. But he didn't say anything else. He just swallowed and kissed her forehead.
Bubbles yawned and checked the time on her phone screen. It was already after 2am. She hadn't stayed up this late in a while and was starting to feel really drowsy.
"Are you tired Bubbles?" Boomer asked, catching her yawn.
"I'm not usually up this late." She giggled. "I'm going a little wild tonight."
Butch scrunched his nose. "This is you going wild?" He asked laughing, looking to Buttercup for confirmation. She nodded her head and rolled her eyes.
"Well I've tried a lot of new things tonight!" Bubbles tried to convince them.
"Yeah, like what?" Buttercup scoffed.
Bubbles shifted in her seat a bit, "I tried jello shots for the first time." She offered.
"Ooh crazy!" Butch joked.
"Well I also…" she trailed off
Buttercup looked at her sister, who looked at the ground. "Also what?" She questioned, suspiciously.
Bubbles smiled and didn't say anything.
"Did my precious, innocent sister smoke weed?!" She turned to Boomer. He grinned.
"Well… not directly." Bubbles shrugged. Not making eye contact with anyone. Her and Boomer could both hardly keep their laughter in.
"You didn't." Buttercup leaned forward to get a better look at them, sitting side by side on the floor. "Did you shotgun her?!"
Bubbles' cheeks went a little red and she nodded her head. "See, I tried new things!" She left out the part where it turned into their first and second kiss. She wanted to keep that part to herself for now.
"What the hell! I've tried to get you to smoke with me a million times!" Buttercup exclaimed.
"I don't think it was the weed, she was interested in!" Kim declared, cracking up.
Everybody laughed.
Bubbles took a sip of her drink, not responding.
"I can't believe the Professor is allowing you to be out this late!" Jason said, leaning back in his seat.
"He's not. He thinks we're having a girls night with Clara and Kim at Robin's." Buttercup explained.
Bubbles looked down, she really didn't like lying to him. It hurt her heart.
"Brick said it would be okay if people crashed here." Boomer said, looking to Butch whose smile widened at his words.
"Spend the night with me." Butch whispered into Buttercups neck.
Buttercup felt her breath catch. Spend the whole night with her hot new boyfriend? She smiled, her heart beating more rapidly now.
"He did say that. And it was a very generous offer. Although.." Butch glanced at his brother bedroom door, "Now I see why he was so willing." He laughed.
Buttercup punched his shoulder.
"I can't believe your goody two shoes sister, broke her date with another guy, waltzed in here unexpectedly and basically pulled Brick into his bedroom. For hours." Clara said, putting her hands to either side of her head and making a fake explosion.
"Blossom is kind of… impressive." Boomer said, struggling to find the right word. "I mean, they've been in there for four hours."
"Sleeping!" Buttercup tossed another pillow at him.
Boomer laughed, catching it. "Well they're sleeping now. But you think she just came in here and whispered, 'Hey let's go to your room and sleep.' and he was like 'yep it's 10pm in the middle of a party, bedtime.'" Buttercup shot him a look and Butch started laughing. "Well I'm just saying! Anyone who could get Brick out of his foul mood, has got to be a freaking wizard or something."
"I don't care what the situation or time is. If Buttercup says let's go to the bedroom. I'd drop everything and stay in there all night too." Butch offered. Buttercup rolled her eyes.
Robin stood up and stretched. "Well I guess I'm gonna get going. It's getting pretty late."
Clara and Kim stood up too, "Yeah my mom is cool but we should get going too."
"So are you girls staying or coming back to mine?" Robin laughed.
Bubbles exchanged glances with Buttercup. "Well I mean… We kind of have to stay here right? Bubbles suggested, "Or else we'd have to wake Bloss up and I don't wanna be the one to do that." Her eyes widened. "Right?" She looked at Buttercup.
"Guess it's settled then." Buttercup stated. Secretly nudging Butch with her knee.
Bubbles stood up and gave all the girls hugs. Then she looked back at Boomer. "Boomer, you don't.. mind, right?" She smiled.
"Of course not." He smiled, rolling his eyes at the thought.
"Guess I'll head out too then!" Jason joined the others. "It was fun man!" He said to Boomer, then nodded to Bubbles. Mitch and Harry had left a while ago, and he didn't want to be the only one to stay.
Boomer got up and turned the music off, which had been quietly playing in the background. And walked the remaining guests to the door, letting them out.
Bubbles had fallen asleep on the couch, sitting next to Boomer. He was still awake, finishing the movie they started.
Buttercup walked to the kitchen to get some water. She put away the cake and picked up the kitchen a bit while she was out there. Then she went straight into Butch's room without a word, he was right behind her, closing the door.
"God. I've been waiting to be alone with you alll night." Butch said, hugging Buttercup from behind.
She smiled, turning to face him. "So… boyfriend."
"Yes, girlfriend?" He beamed at her.
She grabbed the bag that she'd brought to take to Robin's and headed for his bathroom. "I'm spending the night.." she said, glancing back at him. "In your bed." She disappeared into the bathroom. The door was still open, so he walked over too. She had her top halfway pulled over her head. His jaw dropped and he fell into the frame of the doorway, watching her undress.
She lifted her shirt off and let it fall to the ground. She stood in her bra and a pair of shorts. "Do you mind?" She asked, smiling at Butch.
He took a step towards her, "I don't mind at all."
He kissed her, sticking a finger in the waist of her shorts and yanking her body against his. His hands went to the back of her bra, unhooking it slowly. Her heart was beating out of her chest, as her bra slid down her shoulders, exposing her bare breasts. His eyes lingered on them for a moment, before he licked his lips and kissed her again. He pulled away from her slightly, lifting his own t-shirt over his head. She bit her lip, eyeing his perfect body. She pressed her chest into him, kissing him. He walked forward, guiding her back while they kissed. When she took another step, her exposed back pressed into the alarmingly cold glass of the shower, she let out a yelp. Butch smiled deviously, he watched as goosebumps spread over her body causing her nipples to harden. A light blush spread to her cheeks. He put his fingers to her chin and angled her face up slightly before he gently kissed her.
"You know.. if you're cold, there's a shower behind you that gets very steamy." He smiled at her jokingly.
She brought her hand to his neck and then ran her finger tips down his body, until she got to the waistband of his pants. She lingered there for a second, watching as his mouth fell slightly open.
"Hmm." She said walking to the other side of the glass wall. "Maybe I will take a shower."
His eyes widened, having only meant it as a joke. Then he thought she might be messing with him so he played along. "Okay." He said, folding his arms over his chest, adding a stern tone to his voice. "Then strip."
Standing, with only a glass wall separating them, she unbuttoned her shorts and slid them off. She was completely naked now, aside from a tiny pair of black underwear.
He swallowed hard, unmoving. He stared in awe at her body through the glass. "Buttercup.." He barely managed. But he couldn't even formulate a thought, let alone a sentence.
Already standing in the shower, she turned the handle. Water rained down on her, and she ran her hands through her dark hair to remove the strands from her face.
Steam started to fill the bathroom, blocking Butch's view of her. "Butch." She sang.
He smiled, hearing her call his name. The most beautiful girl in this world, was basically naked in his shower, calling his name. He took his pants off, leaving on his boxers and joined her.
He came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her slippery wet stomach, resting his chin on her shoulder. She let out a faint breath. He tucked some of her hair behind her ear and whispered, "You're really beautiful." Before sliding his hands up to her perfect boobs. A nervous laugh, escaped her mouth and Butch smiled. She turned to face him now, her eyes travelled down his body to his lower half. He was wearing his boxers still, but they were soaking wet and clinging to his skin, hugging his substantial bulge. Her eyes were wide.
"Butch. I've never..." She started.
He smiled at her, grabbing the shampoo from its place on the shelf and pouring some into his hand. He blocked the water from her with his body and lathered the soap into her hair.
When he opened his eyes, Blossom. Just Blossom. A huge smile formed on his face as he watched her sleeping. Her orange hair sprawled out on the bed. She was smiling a little in her sleep. He wondered what she was dreaming about.
He got out of bed and headed into the bathroom. When he closed the door behind him, he just stood there and smiled dumbly to himself. Thanks HIM, he thought. He went to the mirror to brush his teeth, and remembered the two-pack of toothbrushes that he'd bought. He removed the package from the cabinet that still held the second toothbrush and placed it on the counter. Then he reapplied his deodorant and pulled some of his hair back into a half updo. When he came out Blossom was stretching awake. She was gorgeous, even when she was disheveled from sleeping. He couldn't help but smile at her. She smiled back.
"Good morning." She said, standing.
Brick moved away from the bathroom door, "Morning." He swallowed. "I had an extra toothbrush. So, uh, it's on the counter."
"Oh, thanks." She replied.
She walked past him into the bathroom and glanced in the mirror, trying to fix her horrifying appearance. She ran her fingers through her long hair, and splashed some water on her face, before brushing her teeth. What was she supposed to say to him? She hardly knew how to be around him before this but now how were things going to be? Would they go back to normal? Her heart panged at the thought. They'd never had an easy time communicating. She gave a light sigh and walked hesitantly back to the room. He was standing by the window, with his hands in his pockets. Her eyes went to him, she'd never seen his hair like that before. He almost always wore his hat, which admittedly she did like.. but today the top section of his hair was pulled into a ponytail, leaving the rest down. He was really ruggedly handsome. Now her eyes darted around the room. How was she going to explain this to her sisters? She didn't even know what was happening or had happened herself. Her eyes fell on his desk, her planner, notebook and pen were in a neat stack in the center. She smiled and walked over to them.
"I guess you didn't burn them then?" She said taking a playful jab at him.
Brick smirked, "Not yet."
She rolled her eyes and opened her planner to today's date. It was weird to see nothing written, she usually always wrote out her plans for each day, the day before. She clicked her pen open and on the first line wrote:
Wake up at Brick's house
He watched as she wrote something in her book, then she brought the end of her pen to her teeth and bit down, thinking. What was she thinking about? She sat the pen down on top of the book and started looking for her phone. While she was away from her planner, he peeked in to see what she'd written and smiled when he read his own name. He picked up her pen and added a second line:
Breakfast with Brick? (:
She finally located her cell, tangled up in the sheets on the bed. And walked back to the desk, to collect the rest of her things. When she saw what he wrote, she bit her bottom lip and smiled at him. She scribbled out the question mark. "I like the smiley face." She said. "So… what's for breakfast?" She asked, walking to the door.
"Blossom." He looped his finger though the strap hanging from her dress. "You might wanna fix your straps." He suggested, smirking.
She looked down at her chest, her straps were hanging at the sides of her dress. The image of her pulling her top down and straddling him in her bra flooded back to her mind. A deep red blush covered her cheeks, as she slid her arms back through the straps. She was too embarrassed to look him in the eye now. She turned back to the door, "I guess.. I came on to you really strong last night..."
"Yeah." He said, closing the gap between them. He leaned over her shoulder and whispered, "I loved it."
When Boomer opened his eyes, he was pleasantly surprised to find Bubbles leaning against his shoulder. She was out like a light almost as soon as they hit play on their movie. She had been laying in the opposite direction, with her head on the arm of the couch when she'd first fallen asleep. He'd eventually fallen asleep too, sitting up.
He brushed a strand of loose hair from her face and she smiled, opening her eyes.
"Did you sleep well?" He smiled at her.
Bubbles sat up, removing herself from his arm. "Best couch sleep I've ever had." She joked, "I hope I didn't hurt you."
"No. You didn't." He replied, getting to his feet. "Sorry I woke you up."
She glanced down at her watch, checking the time. "It's already 10:30? I never sleep this late." She laughed.
Boomer scrunched his nose, "10:30 is late?" He laughed too. "I guess I always sleep in then." He walked into the kitchen. "Can I get you anything to drink? Are you hungry?"
Bubbles bounced over to him and peeked into the fridge. "Would you think I'm totally weird if I had a piece of cake?"
"You want cake for breakfast?" Boomer was surprised by her choice. "Well it's not really that different from having a donut or a cinnamon roll or something." He said, taking the cake over to the counter.
Bubbles grinned widely at him. "Looks like someone already got into it." She looked down at the corner of the cake that had been dug into with a fork.
"I can only imagine who would've done that." He rolled his eyes.
They both whipped their heads towards the living room as they heard Brick's door crack open. Bubbles walked out of the kitchen and was happy to finally see her orange haired sister. "Blossom! Brick!" She looked the two over, "I feel like I haven't seen you two in ages." She giggled, clasping her hands together. "So-"
"So, let's talk about it later. At home." Blossom smiled a warning. She could tell by the look in her eye that she was about to ask all kinds of questions that she didn't know how to answer.
"Okay," Bubbles rolled her eyes playfully.
Blossom took a look around the house, "Where's Buttercup?"
Bubbles eyes went automatically to Butch's closed bedroom door. "With Butch. Still asleep" She chirped.
Brick walked around the living room examining the mess from the party. Blossom looked confusedly at Butch's door, "What's she doing in his room?"
Boomer walked out of the kitchen, handing Bubbles a plate full of cake, on his way back to the living room. "What were you two doing in Brick's room?" He teased. Brick shot him a look.
Blossom blushed "Well-"
Bubbles eyes lit up, as she took another step towards her sister. "Oh yeah, you weren't out here!" She squealed, "Buttercup and Butch are together!"
Blossom's eyes went wide. "Together like?-"
She nodded her head rapidly. Brick looked over at Boomer who had plopped onto the couch. Bubbles pulled Blossom into the living room, "We were all sitting here last night and out of nowhere they were kissing!" Her eyes started to water, "They're so cute!"
"Wow, okay then." Blossom tried to process the information. She stole a quick glance at Brick and he nodded towards the front door. "So umm… We have something to do." Blossom gestured to Brick.
Bubbles' already huge smile widened even more as she stared at the two of them heading for the door. "Here, Bloss. You might need this." She said in a low voice, sliding something into her hand. Blossom, not realizing that it was meant to be secretive, held it up to look at it. When she realized it was a tube of lip gloss, her face went pink. Boomer laughed and Brick smirked.
"Boomer, why don't you pick up the place a bit while we're gone." Brick requested.
"Aww come on!" He started to protest.
Bubbles put her hand gently on his shoulder, "Come on, I'll help you." She smiled at him, "It'll be fun."
Boomer glanced back at Brick, "Yeah man, no problem." He smiled, dismissing him.
He took a drink of his black coffee and stole a look at her. Blossom was fiddling with her straw wrapper, across the table. She looked nervous, which caused him to crack a smile. She was really cute when she was nervous or embarrassed. It was one of his favorite looks on her.
"Why are you so nervous?" He smiled deviously, trying to fluster her.
She scoffed, setting the wrapper on the table. "I'm not nervous."
"Really? Because you seem.. like you are." He continued, interlacing his fingers and resting his hands on the table.
She folded her arms over her chest. "Why would I be? I sit by you everyday at school."
He got up and walked over to her side of the booth. She swallowed as he slid in next to her. Her hands went immediately to her lap. "What are you doing?" She asked, looking down.
"I thought you'd feel more comfortable if I was next to you instead of across from you." He explained, watching her shift in her seat a little.
"I told you I'm not-"
His hand went to her thigh, she jumped slightly from the unexpected contact. "What were you saying?" He raised his eyebrow. She smiled, averting his gaze.
"Here you go, sorry for the wait!" The curly haired waitress said, setting their plates down in front of them.
Blossom was relieved to have something else to focus on. She hadn't noticed how hungry she was before. "Looks great." She said, adding syrup to her belgian waffle.
Brick slowly removed his hand from her, "So, you're a waffle girl?"
She cut into her food, making sure to get some strawberries, "A waffle girl?" She laughed. "And what are you, a pancake guy?"
"Yep." He took a huge bite of his bacon strip. "Pancakes are the superior breakfast food."
She rolled her eyes, finally taking a bite. "You're wrong. This is amazing."
They silently ate their meal, until the vibrations of Blossom's phone against the table startled them.
She was getting a call, and they could both see clearly who it was. Luke. Blossom quickly grabbed her phone from the table and dismissed the call, setting her phone beside her on the seat instead. They continued eating, until it went off again.
"Sorry." She apologized, reaching to dismiss the call again.
"He's gonna keep at it until you respond." Brick said, taking a drink of his coffee.
Blossom turned her phone off. "I do owe him some sort of an explanation..." She said, "But he can wait."
Brick smiled to himself.
End Ch 4 (:
