Alya Squealed.
Nino flinched and almost fell off his computer chair. "Babe! What the-"
"Lila thinks that Adrien is cheating on Kagami with Marinette!" The reporter stared at her phone with poorly hidden excitement. "That means that I~win~the~be~et!" She sang while swirling her own chair around in a circle, finishing off by throwing her hands in the air in celebration. "Isn't this awesome!"
Nino removed his cap and threw it down on the desk in front of them, "shouldn't you, I don't know, maybe tell Lila that Adrien is no longer with Kagami?"
Alya stopped her spinning, "right," and buried her head in her phone again while poking her tongue out in concentration. Her mobile immediately dinged. "Lila doesn't believe me…" the bespectacled teen furrowed her brow, "apparently Adrien didn't deny that he was with Kagami."
Nino shrugged and leaned on the desk as Alya placed her mobile beside him. "To be honest, it's none of her business what's going on between Adrien and anyone." He sighed and pulled Alya's chair so it bumped into his and scooped her up onto his lap. "You've done your part, and told her that they ain't together, it's up to her if she believes it or not."
Alya wrapped her arms around her boyfriend's neck while remaining perched sideways on his lap, and pursed her lips assessingly. "You're right." Nino's eyes bugged momentarily before he turned smug.
"Guess I am, huh?"
Alya bopped him on the nose teasingly, "give yourself some credit, you're right about a lot of things. You could see how he feels about her, even Kagami could see how he feels about her…" Alya rolled her eyes dramatically, "lets just hope that Lila doesn't try to cause trouble for Marinette again."
"Don't worry babe," Nino told her, "I'm sure she'll dig her own grave if she tries to spread this rumour…" He glanced down at Alya's phone on the desk, "but maybe you should let the girls know at least, just in case."
As soon as Marc came into view, Marinette could feel the apprehension radiating from the redhead beside her. The ravenette's phone was going crazy in her pocket but Marinette ignored it and continued to walk with Nathaniel towards Su-Han and Marc.
'Su-Han looks pleased, I guess it went well…' she summed up quickly before glancing at his footwear, 'I s'pose I should tell him they were in the sale at Primark and I just jazzed them up a bit.'
Before Marinette could say anything, Marc came down the steps and wrapped Nathaniel in a bone crushing hug. The teen stood off to the side of the pair and smiled at them happily: glad that Nathaniel's nervousness seemed to dissipate as soon as he embraced her future son back. Su-Han gestured for the heroine to follow him when he walked into the garden just off to the side of the house, and Marinette complied leaving the two teens to talk.
The man walked in a pleasant silence until he stopped in front of the statue capturing Emilie Agretse's beauty. He sat down on the floor and folded his legs as Marinette followed his lead. With a contented smile on the man's face, Su-Han held out his hand and opened it, displaying the two Miraculous which had been used to reign terror over Paris.
"Here, these are to be kept under your's and Chat Noir's supervision."
Marinette gasped and Su-Han smiled when she gaped at him in astonishment. "My-mine and-"
The older man nodded slowly in confirmation and took her hand to place the jewels in her palm and Marinette gazed at them in astonishment. "Yes. I have every confidence that the Miraculous will be safe with you both." He smiled at her knowingly, "it can be a lonely life when you are alone in guarding the Miraculous away from the temple, even with the Kwami to keep you company."
The man turned his head and smiled melancholy to look up at the statue, "I have seen the toll it takes on people who have been trained their whole lives to be Guardians. We have each other yes, but the bond you two have is not something we would have you be without. With you not having received the training, we thought it was only fitting to offer your future husband the opportunity to be beside you and share the responsibility. When you are ready, the two of you can come and learn from us." He took a moment to glance sideways at a speechless Marinette, "Gaurdians typically live a long life, much longer than the average human, and even though it is obvious you will have a loving family around you, you have a bond which we feel should not be broken because one of you will be limited by their humanity."
"Th-thank you." Marinette had no idea what else to say to wise man's words, and gazed up at the statue of Emilie Agreste.
"You are very welcome." He also smiled up at the statue. "I already know what the other young Guardian's response will be, so we have already recognised him in our temple." He chuckled, "all Adrien has to say is 'yes' when you ask him."
Su-Han stood up with Marinette stumbling to do the same and the man chuckled at the teen's clumsiness as he caught her elbow. Marinette felt her eyes prickle with tears that threatened to appear. The teen was happy, relieved, astonished and excited for what the future would bring, and the man held out his hand for her to shake. "Until next time, Marinette Dupain-Cheng."
"Wait," her eyes flickered between his face and the offered hand, "don't you want to say goodbye to everyone? And how did-"
"Ask Hugo," Su-Han smiled, "those powerful little butterflies he produces with the goodness of his heart work wonders when the intentions are pure."
Marinette smiled and felt her chest warm with adoration for her talented and loving son.
"My brother utilised the power to enhance his own, and brought her back from the realm in which she was suspended." He chuckled, "Mrs Agreste is an astoundingly strong and resilient woman, she still had full consciousness while her soul was vacant from her being."
Marinette's eyebrows shot up, "how di-"
"We will never know exactly," Su-Han glanced sideways at the statue, "the powers of the Miraculous are mysterious and can be unpredictable, each individual will have a different connection to their Kwami and the powers they possess. We have reason to believe that there is a senti-being out there which she is still connected too, but only Emilie can confirm that." Turning his face back to look intently at Marinette, the man made sure to hold her eye contact, "you have all the tools you need for now, and I do not need to say goodbye, as I will always be close by."
Marinette nodded and took in a deep breath while reaching to shake his hand, "until next time, Master."
With the man bowing his head and turning to walk away, Marinette quickly remembered about the shoes. "Oh! The shoes were from Primark, in the Qwartz Shopping Centre."
Su-Han stopped and raised a brow while looking back over his shoulder, "thank you for letting me know, I will be sure to stop by."
With Su-Han leading Marinette towards his grandmother's statue, Hugo led Nathaniel by the hand over to the other side of the mansion's garden. This had been the aspect of his mission that the teen was dreading the most, as he was unsure of how it was going to pan out. Hugo already knew that his parents would end up married; he knew that his grandparents would be strong and live long and happy lives. The dark haired teen was privy to a lot of what the future would hold…
…but Hugo had irreversibly changed the future of Nathaniel.
Finding the stone bench, which he could remember jumping off and spraining his ankle when he was a child, Hugo took a deep breath and gestured for his redheaded friend to sit while he remained on his feet. The teen was full of nervous energy, and could tell that his body language was causing Nathaniel to feel uneasy again.
There was no way of knowing how Nathaniel was going to take his news, or if the artist was even going to believe him. Hugo was sure from what he knew of the teen however, that Nathaniel would at least hear him out: the whole city had been exposed to magical monsters, so was time travel really so unbelievable?
Hugo shook his arms and rested them at his sides before looking a dubious Nathaniel straight in the eye.
"I'm from the future, and Marinette and Adrien are my parents."
Guys!how do you think their conversation is going to go? The next chapter is a bit emotional if I'm honest, and could contain some triggers for some of you. I am just waiting on it being checked over by CaulderPine as I want to make sure it's right… and a senti-being?! who could that be? I'll give you a hint… it's not Adrien!
Anyway. Thank you for reading and following this story, I love to read your thoughts on it and I also appreciate the faves! I hope you are all enjoying this fan fic :) Please let me know your thoughts in the comments.
