Chapter 34: Reunion with a Former Comrade
"You had changed since you had never seen again in the Highland Kingdom to get rid of Lord Riou and his rabble mercenaries. What happened?" Seed said very eager to know about Sasarai which he smirks in responds.
"Your attitude hasn't changed. Still eager to know more about me. Fine, that's when Luca was alive at the time."
"You seem to know about the history of these wars." Lene said wanting to know from Sasarai as he looked at her right hand.
"There's nothing to worry about your incarnation Rune, your highness. That is replaceable... It is just like the Star Dragon Sword. You might able to give this Rune to someone who is very potential in combat."
"You shouldn't worry about yourself, Lene. If that Rune is replaceable and that would mean you're not gonna live as an immortal person like that guy in a eye patch." Seed said encouraging her and Sasarai finally reveals to them of why he left the Highland Kingdom.
"To be honest, my involvement with the Highland Kingdom was short-lived because of my late twin brother Luc who wipes my men with his True Wind Rune and that resulted my retreat with my Harmonian troops. I learned about Highland Kingdom's fall and that leads me to go to Grasslands for 15 years."
"15 years? That means me and Culgan are already dead at this point of time." Seed said knowing of his current fate and seeing himself being as a time-displacement which makes Lene sees him sad.
"That's when Luc had using the Harmonian forces to cause a down spiral which leads to the second Fire Bringer War until he betrayed me and steals my True Rune and the others so that he wanted to destroy the True Wind Rune. With the help of the fellow bearers of the Elemental True Runes we managed to stop him but was killed from getting collapsed in a debris. I was totally confused when Luc reveals of who we are. We are the clones of Hikusaak." Sasarai said finally tells them and Seed was surprised to hear.
"That surprises me. You and that Luc are clones of the High Priest of Harmonia. No wonder Luca doesn't know about all this crap."
"Since you were sided with the princess. I decided to help you liberate this town. I think it's about time that I lent my Harmonian forces to aid the princess and to deal this blood war had caused by their family relative."
"I'm glad that the united Dunan is about to help us Silverians with the Harmonians and this will be a full force." Lene said happily and Sasarai tells her.
"Just make sure to choose someone who is very potential in combat as well as capable of using magic. Using the Runes is capable of using powerful spells. You have to be observant to see in your allies. That way, you're able to decided to choose who it is."
Lene needs to think of who's going to succeed her in giving the Incarnation Divine Dagger Rune and Sasarai decided to join in their group. Once they arrived at New Leaf Academy, they see most of new students under Sean's mentorship are fighting against the Silverians and Seed saw them.
"Mockingbird is really good on teaching those newbies how to fight."
"We need to let their mentor to get through the entrance." Sasarai sees that they need their help and Lene knows Sean is capable of teaching them to defend themselves.
Once they arrived at the hallway, they are confronted by Yuber who now wields two swords and seeing Sasarai is now on their side.
"I would expect our former comrade has already turned on us."
"Hey one-eyed patch, you'd better help Lene open the entrance. Sasarai and I were gonna keep this guy up!" Seed said allowing Geddoe to assist Lene on getting rid of the soldiers to make Sean's group to enter which he nods in agreement as both him and Lene goes to deal against the remaining Silverian soldiers.
Yuber dual wields both of his two swords to battle both Seed and Sasarai and he decided to assists Seed whenever he can.
"I can assist you with the help of my True Earth Rune. And it is more dangerous than the one you had seen."
"You mean the sasquatch that I had been killed." Seed reacted and Yuber begins the attack causing the latter to block with his sword and the two battle.
Both men clash each other with their swords until Yuber unleashes Thunder Storm from his Thunder Rune. Without warning, Seed is able to use Rune Combination by raising his sword in a flash of lightning which surprises Sasarai as he casts each other using Guarding Earth to raise their defenses as Seed knocks Yuber with a single lightning slash which caused him to get paralyzed.
"You have gotten improved... I never seen that you can combine the Rune magic from your sword. That was impossible."
"I guess that you didn't see me and Culgan teaming up while doing all this kinds of stuff. Because you're a coward to run away to see us fall!" Seed angrily berates Yuber for being a coward.
Meanwhile, Geddoe and Lene beats the soldiers as Lene shoots with her left tonfa with a blast followed by shooting with explosive taser to knock one of them as Sean's unit has arrived on the scene.
"Thanks for the break out, Lene."
"You'd better help the others, Sean."
"I guess aiding him with the use of my True Lightning Rune to put in a good use." Geddoe said smirking and Sean knows how the new students who recruited in his mercenary group.
Seed was briefly exhausted when Yuber summons skeletons including a Hellstead, forcing him to cast Explosion from his Rage Rune. Sasarai tries to cast Land of Eternity to put a stop against Yuber's monsters. But to their surprise, Sean throws his Tokkosho which causes a deadly fire explosion, obliterated all of Yuber's monsters including himself.
"Good timing, mockingbird..." Seed reacted in relief which Sean quickly gets his Tokkosho and points at Yuber at point blank range.
"Your men including Doug's are down for the count! You're history!"
Sean attempts to slash Yuber to finish him off but Yuber immediately teleports to escape.
"He disappeared... just like he did to us in our last line of defense!" Seed said while raising his brow only for Sasarai to clarify him.
"It's not in the Dunan Unification War, Seed. It was just like Geddoe who attempts to make a final strike on Yuber who is down and defeated. I know for sure that I could confront him in the matter of years. Because of his hatred of the True Rune bearers like me."
"I've never seen you can survive for that long... It is because of the True Rune, right?" Seed said shockingly on Sasarai's words which he tells him.
"Like Geddoe says, True Bearers like him or me are living in infinite of purgatory of life. Because if you're one of us then this True Rune like ours will grant immortality."
As all of the citizens in Greenhill had managed to strike the soldiers as well as the students in the New Leaf Academy.
"Hey look, the Silverian Army are running away!"
Sean noticed Rena and Agatha is with them since she was on Lene's side while Damian, Cyril and Cara arrive to see them.
"You did a good job, your highness."
"Sean you do the honors... Since we had sided with the Mayor Rena Wisemail." Damian said which Sean raises his tokkosho.
"Now that Lady Rena has returned! The city of Greenhill has now returned to normal!"
As most of the citizens had celebrated the whole city has returned to normal and they knew Rena would be back in charge. Therefore, Clemont arrives to inform them to return back to Higheast Palace.
"Your highness... your father needs you back to Higheast Palace."
"Seems like there is more important ways to discuss the matter against Doug and the Silverian Army. What's your plan, Seed?" Sasarai asked which Seed looked to see the citizens of Greenhill are getting overjoyed which he arrogantly smiles.
"It's best if I let some soldiers from our units to protect them. In case if those wretched old fool's men would come and get them again."
"I guess you can tell me more about this. After all, the princess is truly capable to battle in need."
Back at the palace, they soon inform them about the incident of Muse where Doug had killed the citizens with the use of the Incarnation Titanus Rune.
"After Doug had killed many civilians because of the Rune he uses. Do you know how to eliminate that Rune on his hands?" Lars said asking to Sasarai about how to eliminate the Incarnation Rune which he tells him.
"It's not possible to eliminate because the Incarnation Runes like your daughter's are replacable. The only dangerous the Rune he carries, it has combined powers between the Sovereign and the Conqueror Rune. The only power to be negated will be the Divine Dagger Incarnation Rune due to its combined powers between the Rune of the Beginning and the Beast Rune, it is capable to eliminate monsters who inhabited within Muse."
"It was the same as what happened in Jenova." Lars said knowing of Doug's murderous spree and became saddened over losing his people and Daniel knows who is responsible for manipulating Doug.
"I know who had done of why all the Muse citizens have been wiped out. A spirit who manipulates Doug was a woman."
"Hold on, the spirit of a woman. It must be Sarah... she was Luc's lover when she follows him to destroy the True Wind Rune that he carries. It was way back during the second Fire Bringer War. In that case, Doug must be Sarah's descendant." Sasarai said revealing about Doug's origins.
Lars was shocked to hear about Doug's bloodline between the witch from the Magician's Island and the royal family itself and the reason why his daughter Lene is capable of using magic by casting the Incarnation Divine Dagger Rune. Realizing his family bloodline are capable of using magic by casting elemental Runes. Lars decided to have a new found resolve and wanted to give justice to all the people including the citizens of Muse being killed by Doug.
"I think we need to free Muse City from getting inhabited by monsters caused by the Rune that Doug had used. As long as these people who were the bearers of the True Elemental Runes need to aid my daughter into cleansing the entire city."
That night, Seed looked on his Flowing Rune on his right hand and seeing his current fate in helping the Royal family of Ashitares and knowing that he makes up all the loses he had with the Highland Kingdom during the Dunan Unification War. Sasarai and Asher arrive to see him as Seed looked to see them.
"What are you two looking at!?"
"Seems like this young fellow wants to talk to you personally." Asher points out on Sasarai and he wanted to know how Seed gets into their world since he's from the past world.
"Can you tell me something, Seed? How did you get into their world?"
"I was ready and prepared to defend our country in the Highland Kingdom which happens to be our last line of defense. Until this white light had glowed upon me and soon I was vanished in thin air and not knowing where I was." Seed said explaining how he was transported. "As the smoke clears, this is where I found myself here in their world being summoned by the old man who turned out to be my best friend's descendant."
"In fact that the Divine Dagger Incarnation Rune must have been activated on the portal device that I had been invented when I tried to discuss with both Lene and Sean about what they had found on their excavation at the palace. Before Lars had constructed the same way as in the Highland Kingdom, it's true that the palace which is our base of operations is actually a tourist attraction for the Highlanders to see." Asher said realizing the connection and Sasarai knows the origin of it.
"Following the Beast Rune's departure through the entire Highland Kingdom, The entire palace has been not been touched since then. And why most people had decided to see the entire view including excavations with the archaeologist." Sasarai said realizing the connection between The Rune of the Beginning and the Beast Rune and was formed into an Incarnation Divine Dagger Rune. He soon faces Seed with a calm look on his face. "I think the reason you were here, Seed is to make up for your losses in the war battles. I believe that you don't want to meet the same fate as what you and your companions did in the Highland Kingdom. And that's why you decided to turn the tide against Doug and his Silverian Forces within the Silveria Kingdom because you hoped that the Highlanders would be given back to their former glory."
"You maybe right... I just wanted to make up for my mistakes in my entire life as the 3rd General of the Highland Army. I'm an absolute jackass when I angrily scorned Lord Riou and his rabble mercenaries to show my pride in protect our beloved country." Seed said realizing of his true actions and put his hand on his chest, showing his feelings to Lene. "It really changed me since I stayed here in their world. My temperament was vanished because of Lene who stole my hot blooded side within my heart. After she saw my weaknesses for not seeing her recklessness as an enemy."
"So that means... you wanted to change their world for the better. Is that what you really wanted, Seed?" Sasarai reacts over Seed's words which he looked at him with a smirk on his face.
"I want our beloved country in Highland... I mean, the Higheast province to have better lives in the future not like what we had done currently in the war. This is why the royal family of Ashitares had decided to create a reformed Highland army which is the same as Lord Riou and the Allied Army would. And second of all, I had to protect Lene because I'm her stead..."
"Your Flowing Rune resonates with the incarnation Rune of the Beginning it's because of your strong connection with the princess and why her powers have gotten stronger. You need to maintain your bond with the princess." Sasarai joked about Seed's Rune being connection with Lene causing Seed to be blushed in embarrassment.
"Hey... stop teasing... I'm not good on being joked and teased!"
Their conversations are overheard by Chris and Geddoe and realizing that they were chose to side with Lene due to their True Runes on their hand.
"I think it's about time, you need to reveal yourself, Chris. Because tomorrow, we're going to Muse City to cleanse the entire city caused by the Incarnation Rune."
"You were right, Geddoe. I should have pretend myself not to be seen with both the King and the Princess. I guess it's about time to aid her." Chris said and Geddoe was happy to hear she decided to help the Princess one more time.
"Tomorrow, they're gonna commence our new mission, Chris. Because the king of Silveria had finally found his new resolve to serve justice towards the citizens of both Muse and their Kingdom of Silveria."
"Of course..." Chris said and both of them leave the scene.
