Arizona's POV

"Yeah, the client just needed some advice on what to do if they aren't sure that a child is theirs."

I'm on a virtual call with my colleague Tiffany. She's a family law attorney. I've called this meeting under the guise of needing help with a client. If she suits their or should I say, my needs, she'll get a client out of this meeting.

She answers, "There's of course a prenatal paternity test that can be court-ordered."

"Yeah, I already suggested this but the client prematurely informed the other party about this. In response, their ex just said she'd have an abortion."

"In the case of abortion, the person carrying the kid has all legal rights. Assuming your client is unmarried, after birth without any litigation, negotiation, or some sort of legal mediation, the person who carried the child gets parental rights. I don't suppose your client can just talk with their ex-partner?"

"They've tried. It's kinda why they're in this mess. You'd think a parent wanting to be involved in a child's life would be enough to convince someone against an abortion."

"That sounds like a prison for someone who doesn't want children."

"But they do want children. It's the situation they are running from."

"That's incredibly sad and immature. Surely, two people who want a child can work things out?"

"Not so sure, Tiff."

"Uh, can we speak as friends now?" A curious bubble has popped up over her head.

"Yeah, absolutely." This is where the real advice starts.

"For one, you can drop the act. You're totally the one having these issues, not some client of yours."

"What tipped you off, was it something I said?"

"No, it's how you said things more than what you said. I can feel your connection to the issue." She definitely picked the right career path, I'll tell you that. She has always been super discerning. Even back when we ...

"Okay. Shoot."

"I'm a little confused. The pregnant woman, is she truly your ex or was she a fling?"

"No, she's genuinely my ex."

"Your ex who you still have feelings for?"

"Yes."

"You don't trust her? Is that the cause of the rift between you two?"

"No, I do trust her. She's the one that broke things off."

"If you trust her why not trust that she's being honest when she says you're the mommy?"

"That's not it. It's been a minute since we've even had sex. How do I know for sure that she hasn't slept with someone else?"

"Oh so, that's what this is really about."

Yeah, what I just said it's about is what the conversation is about. "You've lost me."

"You just want to know if she's slept with other people."

"No, she can do whatever(whomever) she wants to."

"Well, of course, she can, but it bothers you. What especially bothers you is not knowing."

"That can be in addition, no?"

"No, you're being petty Arizona."

"I don't agree."

"As one ex of yours speaking on behalf of one of your other exes. If I say I'm pregnant with your child, I expect to be believed."

I attempt a counterargument. "And that's fine. Speaking on my own behalf,"

Tiffany chimes in, "Are you now?"

I try again, "Speaking on my own behalf, It is not fair that I know a child, love a child and that child could be someone else's."

"We're not still on this."

"Excuse me? Also, I'd like to point out that I wouldn't have minded you sleeping with anyone after we ended things."

"I know Arizona because you were over me. That's how I know you're clearly not over this woman ."

"Thanks for the consult Tiff, I've got another call coming in." There's no arguing with her, so I make an excuse to end the call.

"Arizona don't you dare serve that woman papers!"

"I'll keep you posted." I click on the red button and the computer makes the familiar disconnecting tone.

What to do, what to do? First I need to make things right with Callie. Everything about what I said other was selfish. But I'm not important here. It's new, however, I realize and will adjust to my feelings coming third now. It doesn't matter that we broke up or how we did. It doesn't matter that we're not in the best of places. Actually, we need to get to a better place with each other. What matters now is Callie is healthy and the baby is healthy. I have accepted the situation. Callie isn't a liar, why would she start now? She wouldn't. I have to try to give her the reaction she deserved to being pregnant. Maybe I should get her something too. Let me go set something up. Someone, her will know what to gift her. Apart from that, I don't know what else I can do.

Callie's POV

I haven't told Mark yet. As we know, I believe it's news to be told in person so I've waited. Being in his backroom/office is giving me uncomfortable flashbacks to Arizona's office. But that's her and this is Mark.

"Emma hasn't told you anything has she?' Because I asked her not to...

"Anything about what?"

He's either lying or is clueless. Well, here it goes, "Anything about me being a little pregnant."

"A little what?!" He pipes up.

"Yeah, I'm pregnant."

A second later ark all but picks me up. The embrace is so welcoming and warm. "Oh my God Callie, Congrats!"

"Wow, thanks Mark" He's so sincere. A breath of fresh air.

He lets me go. I'm standing on my own feet again. Mark comments, "So blondie knocked you up huh? Have you told her yet?"

Hmm. I almost forgot about that. "Uh, I did tell her."

"Why doesn't that sound good?"

"Because it's not. Arizona is convinced I'm having sex with everyone so she's not sure it's her's."

He points with his thumb, over his shoulder, and towards the door. "Want me to go kick her ass?" Yes, actually. Someone needs to. I can see that being good for her.

"No, she's at work." That's the reason you shouldn't go kick her ass. I find my way to a chair, " I guess maybe she doesn't understand, but like I know if she was to find out I was having sex with literally anyone else, she's pissed. So, her accusing me of sleeping around almost makes me want to do that, just to spite her. " It's like, now you're right, so what?

He turns to me, "I'd invite you back here in heartbeat, but that's not a good mindset to have if you want to start back here.

"I didn't come here for a job Mark."

"Listen, it'll always be here if you want it. Not right now, but whoever you've had your baby. You could come back."

"Arizona would use that ammunition to take my child away. I have no doubt that's exactly what would do."

May or may not add to this later (nothing major will change).
