Danny's POV

2 Days Later

The GIW haunted my subconscious and conscious mind, I couldn't escape them. I couldn't tell the difference between dream and reality. In the dreams, the GIW were tormenting me with images of Sam, Tucker, and Jazz all dying at their hands. It was torture. At some point I was put into a bed, and I saw lots of flashes; some purple, some red.

It took some time, but my vision finally began to clear. As I took in my surroundings, I almost started to panic again. Where was I? I was in a huge bedroom, surrounded by machinery. It was not the GIW Headquarters. This calmed me down a little.

Then it all came rushing back to me. New planet, magic, making friends with magic people, Glimmer, Thaymor, clones, being aggressively held in place and… oh god. I could feel a pounding headache coming on.

"Good! You're awake!" I heard a nasally voice say, very loudly. This did not help with the pain. A girl with light purple hair in two giant pigtails approached me. Entrapta, I remembered.

"H-hi," I croaked. It hurt to talk. "What happened?" I needed to speak slowly, so as not to hurt my voice too much. Entrapta seemed very happy to respond to my question. Too happy, in fact.

"Well, it's quite fascinating actually. You experienced what the common people call a 'mental breakdown', to put it in simple terms. After monitoring your brain waves, I concluded that you are experiencing severe mental trauma. Trauma occurs when…"

"Yea, I know what trauma is," I interrupted her. "But what happened? Where are the others? Are they okay?" Entrapta was restlessly moving around the room, adjusting machinery and checking my heart monitor, muttering to herself. I didn't think that she was listening until she responded to me.

"Oh, yea. They're fine. They should be back any minute now. You've been out for two days." Two days?! I groaned.

"Oh! And I also found your little communication device in your pocket. I took the liberty of recharging it. It will be useless in contacting your planet, but I'm going to work on that. I have so many questions, but I'll wait until you're better to ask them." Entrapta left the room.

I looked over at my bedside table and saw my phone laying there. I slowly reached out and grabbed it. Pressing the on button, the screen immediately lit up, displaying my background photo of Sam, Tucker, and I at the Nasty Burger when we were fourteen. I felt a small smile tug at my lips. I unlocked the phone and scrolled through my messages. My inbox was completely empty. All of my music was there too. That would be nice to have.

I sat there for a few minutes, scanning through my phone until the door slammed open. There stood Bow, Adora, Catra, and Glimmer. This was going to be interesting. I turned off my phone and set it back on the bedside table.

"Danny! You're okay!" Bow was beyond excited. I couldn't help but smile at his joy. Catra rolled her eyes, and Adora flashed me a smile while elbowing Catra. Glimmer was smiling softly. She walked up to the bed I was lying in and sat down at the foot of it. Her nearness made my heart pound uncontrollably in my chest. Not from fear, but from nerves.

"Hey, Danny." She said quietly. Then she turned to the others, who were smirking at us knowingly. I felt my cheeks burn and I could see that Glimmer was blushing as well.

"Do you guys mind giving us a little space? I wanted to talk to Danny alone." They all obliged and they shut the door behind them. I sat up, and glanced curiously at the queen who was sitting on my bed. Her purple irises were piercing into my own. Glimmer took a deep breath.

"How are you feeling?" How was I supposed to answer that if I didn't even know the answer? I shrugged.

"I wanted to thank you." I looked at her confusedly. "You saved our butts back at Thaymor, don't you remember?" I didn't. All I could remember was fear, anger, and white. Lots of white. Shaking my head, I spoke.

"No, I'm sorry. It's all a blur to me." Glimmer frowned, a concerned look on her face.

"I spoke with Entrapta, she told me what she found out." I kept my mouth shut, and looked away from her compassionate gaze. I didn't want her to think I was weak. She sighed.

"I don't know what you've been through, Danny. But I want you to know that Bow, Catra, Adora, and the rest of the team are here for you. Especially me. Don't be afraid to open up to us, to me." I finally looked up into her eyes. Breathing out, I spoke.

"Do you want to see some pictures of Earth?"

Glimmer's POV

I was speechless. It felt like an honor for him to ask me this. While he had shown me the photo of his friends, his sister, and him, it felt like he had done it out of necessity. Right now, he was actually making the effort, it felt almost intimate. But then something occurred to me.

"Wait," I said. "How am I supposed to see pictures of Earth? There's no way to get them." He just smiled softly and reached over to his bedside table and grabbed a small black device. It was rectangular, with a screen covering one end of it.

"This is a cell phone," Danny said. "It helps us to communicate on Earth. Everyone has one of these." He turned it on, and I saw a photo of Danny and his two friends. What were their names again? Danny seemed to be able to read into this.

"My two best friends, Sam is the girl with the black hair. Tucker is the boy with the hat. We were fourteen in this picture." He typed a password into his phone and a whole menu with little boxes popped up. The picture in the background was different now. It was a weird stylized symbol. It looked like a D with a P inside of it. Danny clicked on one of the boxes and it pulled up a huge assortment of photos. This was so strange. While we Etherians had our fair share of strange machinery, this was beyond what we had. Danny tapped on a photo and it grew in size. I looked at it and gasped.

Earth was beautiful.

It was a photo of what looked like a forest at sunset. There was a river with water running between huge rocks. The color scheme there was so different from here. Instead of pinks and purples in the sky, it was blue. I smiled at Danny, who gave me a small one in return. He started to flip through different photos of his home. He swiped to another one, and then frowned. It was a picture of him and Sam. They looked a lot younger, about the same age as they were in his other photo he had shown me a few days ago. They were dressed up in very formal clothes. Danny was wearing a grey outfit, with a jacket and a blue tie. His hair was shorter, but still unkempt. Sam was wearing a crazy black and purple dress and her hair was spiked out to both sides of her head. She was wearing purple eye shadow.

"What was the occasion?" I asked. Danny sighed.

"It was a school dance."

"A what?" Danny laughed.

"I forgot, you guys don't have high school here. Frosta told me you guys have a thing called Princess Prom? It's sort of like that, except with a bunch of hormonal teenagers." I shivered.

"It sounds awful." I said. Danny nodded solemnly.

"It is. But remember, we were fourteen. It was sort of inevitable for us to go. But there is a part where we do a slow dance and I actually danced with Sam after some, uh… stuff happened." He hesitated for a moment before he finished.

"Were you two together?" I asked. Danny smiled sadly.

"No. We never were. There was a time when I thought we would be, but it just wouldn't have worked out." I nodded in understanding.

"Well, I would love to learn how you guys dance on Earth sometime." He grinned at me.

"I would love to show you, but I'm probably not the best teacher."

"I'll take my chances."

We spent the next little while with us sharing about our planets. I found myself really enjoying his company, and I could tell that he felt the same way around me. He showed me how he can play music with his small device he called a 'phone', and I told him stories of the Best Friend Squad (He laughed at the title). I could tell that things on Earth were very different than on Etheria. Around midday, I heard Danny's stomach growl. He grinned sheepishly at me and he blushed.

"Do you think you can get up?" I held out my hand to him. He slowly nodded and took it. His hand was warm and rough. I pulled him to his feet and he stumbled a little before regaining his balance. Laughing, he smiled at me. Truly smiled. Not a grin or a smirk, but genuine. It was then I was reminded of how handsome he was. His dark hair and bright eyes were very hard to look away from.

Noticing I was staring, I awkwardly cleared my throat.

"Now come on, let's go see our friends."
