Hi, this chapter is mostly humor and fluff, I give some insight into my headcanons about what a teenage Zane and teenage Julien might have been like. As well as a possible reason Julien doesn't have any other relatives. Also, Echo won't be left behind, and Neither with the tea bot.
The end of the storm had come and the stupid starteeth had left them with no rutter and a giant hole in the side off the ship. Harumi had come out of her room and met Lloyd in the hallway.
"That gi looks good on you little sis," he smiled
She began helping get the sea water out of the room with the hole. Then Zane walked over to the whole.
"What is it dad?" asked Lloyd
"I sense something,"
"Is it the falcon"
"Is he ok?"
"No it." he looked out the hole "something else, Brace yourselves," he exclaimed before the bounty hit the rocky island.
They all clamored out of the bounty and saw a structure high up.
"What would a lighthouse be doing all the way out here?" asked Lloyd
"It's not a lighthouse, it's a prison," said Zane as they walked up the stairs. The security camera panned to look at them.
"Should we smile?" asked Jay
Suddenly the door began wiggling then flug open.
"ZANE!" exclaimed an old man before pulling him into a feicer hug. Everyone noticed how shocked Zane looked.
"But my memory tells me you have passed," said Zane
"Ah you found your memory switch," said Julien
Suddenly there was a noise from the ocean.
"Quickly come inside it can't know that you're here," said Julien
"It?" asked a nervous Jay
"I'll explain everything inside, including why it is you thought I was dead," said Julien
They all shuffled inside.
"Well, the bounty's sailing days are over," sighed Nya
"Quickly Nya," said Wu
Upstairs they all sat around a table and Hurmi giggled as she saw Jay swipe a pair of underwear.
"Before I get into the story, who are all of you?"asked Julien
"I'm Kai,"
"Cole,"
"Jay,"
"Wu,"
"Misako,"
"Lloyd,"
"..."
"Harumi sweetie don't be shy," said Zane softly
She hid behind Zane.
"Sorry, she goes quiet when she's scared," said Zane "Her and Lloyd are my kids by adoption,"
"Kids?" asked Julien, looking between Lloyd and Harumi
"Wait, if you're Zane's father then that would make you our grandpa," said Lloyd
"Grandpa?" asked Harumi quietly
Julien's grin widened.
"Oh this is wonderful! I had always hoped my son would one day have a family," said Julien excitedly
"So I actually get to know my grandfather this time?" asked Lloyd
"This time?" asked Julien
"Lloyd is the son of Lord Garmadon and Misako here, I adopted him after both his parents abandoned him at Darkley's, he's technically the grandson of the First Spinjitzu Master," explained Zane.
"I didn't abandon him," muttered Misako under her breath.
"Um yeah ya did," said Lloyd coldly
"Burn," smirked Harumi.
That made everyone laugh.
After a funny incident with Jay and Tai-D Zane looked at his father.
"Father I don't understand, I saw you pass," said Zane
"Yes you did and believe me when I tell you, I thought I was kaput, but as you know in Ninjago, the past is the past.."
"And the future.." started Wu
"Is the future," finished Misako
"Yes, after I turned off your memory switch what you didn't see was bonehead Samukai reviving me with a special elixir. He wanted me to make state of the art war machines for their army. He said if I refused then I would never get to see my son again, and to make sure I didn't escape, he chained a leviathan to keep guard," said Julien
"A leviathan? That's what we heard in the ocean?" asked Lloyd
"Yes,"
"We will get you out of here father, now that we are together, perhaps we can invent a way off this rock," suggested Zane
"Could you repair the rocket boosters on our ship?" asked Jay pointing out the window
"That sailing ship has rocket boosters?" asked Julien excitedly
"The rotors and gears are shot.." started Nya
"Aw pish posh, no matter, I have that ship air worthy by dawn.
Suddenly the noise came again.
"Everyone hide, it's coming," said Julien
Zane quickly sprang into parent mode and got Harumi and Lloyd behind him in their hiding spot. Julien managed to fool the leviathan and they all came out of hiding.
"If we're going to make something to get out of here, we better get moving, before it comes back," said Kai.
Harumi sat on the steps as everyone worked, not wanting to get in the way.
That night the little family sat down for a meal. Harumi was always happy to eat her dad's cooking and Lloyd wasn't complaining either.
"Oh I almost forgot," said Julien quickly
"Echo, come here please," said Julien.
A smaller, less refined copy of Zane came up from the stairway.
"Yes father?" asked the copy
"Echo this is your brother, the original Zane," said Julien
"I am Zane, built to protect those who cannot protect themselves," said the copy
"This is Echo, I built him because I missed you, he's not exactly sturdy but with better materials I can get him to the same level you are," said Julien
"Wow, this family is growing really fast," said Lloyd
"You don't mind having an uncle do you?" asked Zane
" Well my previous experience with having an uncle wasn't that great but I hardly doubt Echo and Wu will be the same kind of uncle," laughed Lloyd
After Zane terrified the life out of his father by jumping overboard to free the leviathan, the slowly growing family went into the living quarters of the bounty. Jay showed Julien his workshop and Julien got to work getting Echo into better shape. Zane tucked Harumi into bed as Lloyd was in the shower.
Zane walked into the workroom after Harumi was asleep and found his father working on a deactivated Echo.
"Are you going to make him look exactly like me or a bit different?" asked Zane
"I'm going to make him a brunet like I was as a youngin and I'll give him blue eyes like you have. As for the powersource, it's going to have to be different because I don't have access to the substance I used for yours but your friend Jay offered his assistance with that, a bit of elemental lightning in a metal tube will work just as well as your own powersource," said Julien
"What is my powersource made of?" asked Zane
"It's a type of radiation I enclosed in diamond, when that strange old man came and gave you what I know know is your elemental power, it changed your powersource slightly, it actually made it much more stable," said Julien
"So I'm radioactive?" asked Zane
"Only the substance that powers you, I took a lot of precautions and it took a lot of experimentation to figure out how to enclose to make it safe but also have it work, you could walk through a gigacounter and it wouldn't register anything other than the normal amount of radiation found in everything, but if your powersource was cracked open then there would be a huge problem," said Julien
"Hmm," said Zane before going quiet as he watched his father work.
Lloyd came out of the shower and into the workroom.
"Hey dad, Master Wu says we should be at the dark island in a few hours," said Lloyd
"That's good, how about you go get some sleep, you'll need it," said Zane
"Ok," said Lloyd
"And you better not let Nya catch you using her towel again," warned Zane
"Shoot, I grabbed cyan instead of the green, stupid dim light," cursed Lloyd looking at the towel on his head.
Zane chuckled
"Get to bed and hide the towel, I'll do laundry so she doesn't find out," said Zane
"Ok, night dad, night grandpa," said Lloyd
Julien's grin was as big as the sun.
"You've done an amazing job son," said Julien
"With Lloyd, I suppose, but I only got Harumi two days ago," said Zane before telling his father about the devourer attack and how exactly Harumi came to be his.
"Son, I was in the system for most of my life, shuffled from one bad foster home to another, I'm glad you were an adult when I passed so you weren't throne into the system, I installed a program into you that would ensure you would be a good parent no matter what way you became one, the fact that you saved two children from the system is a very admirable thing," said Julien
"So you made sure I would be a good father even though I'm a nindroid?" asked Zane
"Being good with kids is also a desirable trait in terms of finding a partner," smirked Julien
"FATHER!" Zane whisper shouted, a blush on his cheeks as Julien laughed.
"So, any of these young men catch your fancy?" grinned Julien, in full parental teasing mode
"FATHER!" Zane exclaimed again, his blush deepening.
"Oh son, I have known your preference ever since I caught you kissing that poster of that rock star that had been so popular when you were young," said Julien with a chuckled
Zane went even redder.
"You saw that?" asked Zane
"Well you forgot to close your door completely and I went to tell you to turn your music down since it was shaking the house, you didn't hear me knock and the door opened on my knock since it was ajar," said Julien
Zane looked at the floor.
"You were being a typical teenager, I came in to turn the music down and you were in a full on makeout session with that poster, and who do you think left that eye liner in the cabinet each time you thought you were being rebellious in your 'Black is all I wear now' phase, or how during your much earlier dress up phase there was always a wide range of nail polish and lipstick available to you, I build you to be as human as possible, I expected these phases since I myself went through them as a child and a teen. Though I had to turn off your funny switch when you turned 16, you remember why?" said Julien
"Because I got into your forbidden comedy tapes and decided to replicate a stunt from that Jacque Rear movie," said Zane
"I still don't know where you got that shopping cart or how you managed to ride it down the trunk of the tree, sadly turning off your humor resulted in you going full robot, but it had to be done or you would have broken something," said Julien
"How did you program me to act like an actual teenager?" asked Zane
"I didn't, you have a bit of my DNA in you, only natural you'd act similar to how I was as a teen since you're my son," smiled Julien
"Did you do anything stupid as a teenager?" asked Zane
"I hated one of the foster homes I was in, I took my love of adventure stories and dug holes in the backyard supposedly looking for treasure, it was a small act of rebellion and I got in a lot of trouble but I think the landscaping costs they had to pay as a result was almost worth it," said Julien
"Hard to imagine my inventor father as a rebellious teen," chuckled Zane before he left to go to bed, letting his father finish upgrading Echo.
