Hiya! This is my first ever story posted online, I usually write but never post them but I thought I might post something I'm proud of on here. Reviews appreciated
Summary: Ladybug received a call late at night from non-other than Chat Noir. The call made her worried so she went out to search for her partner and give him the comfort he needs.
Ladybug jumped from rooftop to rooftop, her mind full of worry. She can't help but bite her lower lip as she scanned their several meeting places trying to find a certain black cat. As Ladybug was searching she recalled the event that led to her worry; a sudden call. It was unusual for Chat Noir to be the one to call, especially this late at night. The way he spoke through the call gave Ladybug shivers down her spine, she had never heard him sound so… distant and small. What made her worry the most was his choice of words, "Ladybug… I need to see you.'' The word need was what made her worried, it's such a strong word. He needed her.
Her eyes fell on a familiar figure sitting on the ledge of a rooftop. Knees brought up to his chest, his gaze ignoring the beautiful star-lit sky. "Chat…" Ladybug called out to him softly as she landed behind him. Chat's ears perked and he turned to look at his lady. Ladybug knew something was wrong as soon as she heard his voice but she was still shocked. She had never seen her partner emit such a gloomy aura before. He was usually a ball of sunshine always goofing about throwing puns and compliments whenever he had the chance. This just devastated her.
Chat hugged his knees and looked at the night sky, not saying a thing as Ladybug took a seat next to him. They stayed silent like that, both staring at the infinite dark sky.
"I'm sorry" Chat muttered softly, now looking down. Ladybug looked at her partner's face, not being able to read his expression.
"What for?" She asked tilting her head to get a good look at his face. Chat let his feet dangle at the edge of the rooftop, glanced at Ladybug but then looked away.
"Calling you here so suddenly, I just wanted to be with someone right now and you're the first person that came to mind." Chat said, still looking away. Ladybug smiled softly, she took his hand in both of hers. Chat turned to look at her, a bit surprised.
"Chat, I don't mind. I'm your partner and your friend. I'll always be there when you're feeling down." She squeezed his hand reassuring him.
"But, it's not an emergency, how I feel isn't important." Ladybug frowned slightly then sighed. She then stared into his deep green eyes with a tender smile.
"But it is Chat. How you feel is important, you are important." Chat clutched Ladybug's hands softly, biting his lower lip. Trying his hardest to not look weak in front of his lady, trying his hardest to stop the tears from overflowing, to keep the dam intact. But then it broke.
"It's okay to cry."
And with those words, he couldn't stop the tears. They flowed down his face as though he had been holding it back for a long time. As he sobbed softly, rubbing his tears away only to be replaced by more tears, Ladybug couldn't help but tear up as well. What devastated her more was what made her goofy, flirtatious, and brave partner break down like this. She didn't know, but what she did know was that he needed her. Even if she couldn't do much, he needed her.
Ladybug wrapped her arms around Chat letting him sob lightly onto her shoulder. He hugged her back tightly and let her stroke his hair gently. They stayed like that until Chat had calmed down. They stayed in that position, quiet for a while.
Ladybug was concerned, she wanted to know what made her partner so upset. But their secret identity had made it difficult for them to talk about their personal lives.
"Do you want to talk about it? Vaguely that is." Ladybug said, still stroking his silky blonde hair. He was silent for a few seconds, he then shook his head.
Chat didn't want Ladybug to carry his burden, he didn't want her to feel pity or bad towards him than she already has. But deep within his heart, he wanted her to know, he wanted to count on her, to be able to comfort him whenever he felt down. He wanted her to care. But his mind spoke, that was too selfish of him.
As though she read his mind, she broke the hug and looked him in the eye, gripping his shoulders. His sorrowful eyes broke her yet again. "Chat…" she said as cupped his face with one hand. "You don't have to talk about whatever it is that's bothering you, but just know that I'll always be here to listen to you or give you a hug when you need one." She gave him a gentle smile. And when his eyes looked away she added; "You're not a burden, Chat, and you never were." he looked back stunned that she knew him that well, he then returned a soft smile.
"You always know what to say, m'lady." He said, grabbing ahold of her hand that was still cupping his cheek. She then gave him a sly smirk as a thought of how to cheer him up popped into her mind.
"Well, you can say I'm purr-fect." she joked letting go of his face. Chat smiled, staring at her side profile as she observed the night sky.
"I'm purr-plexed m'lady, when did you get into cat jokes." Chat joined in. his smile widening as he saw a flustered smile coming from Ladybug,
"This is embarrassing, I just wanted to cheer you up." Ladybug said, face-palming in the process. Upon hearing that, Chat gave her a goofy grin. "Seems to have worked." She muttered more to herself.
Ladybug and Chat stared back at the sky, though it was the same sky every night; tonight the stars gleamed brightly and the moonlight covered the city like a light blanket on a chilly night.
"Thank you." Chat said softly as he felt Ladybug's head rest on his shoulder upon hearing him.
"Anytime, kitty."
