Based on the song traveling soldier by the chick except no one dies because I'm a softie
Amity was at the cafe where she worked. It was a slow day, not many customers. her brown hair was pulled back with a purple bow.She was behind the counter when a girl walked in. Amity recognized the girl. Her tan skin and short messy brown hair were familiar to her. This girl was a year above Amity and had just graduated. What stood out was the clothes she was wearing. A army uniform. They girl seemed nervous so Amity gave her a smile.
"Would you find sitting down and talking with me? I'm feeling a little lonely" the girl asked.
Amity smiled. " I'm off in an hour and I know where we can go"
The two walked an sat down at the pier. And talked for bit. Amity learns her name is Luz and that she turned eighteen two days ago.
"I bet you have a partner, but I don't care. You see I don't have any friends to write a letter too. Would you mind if I sent one here to you?" Luz asked.
"I would be honored to get letters from you." Amity said. The two continue to talk and laugh at the pier.
A few weeks past and Amity is in her room petting her cat Azura. Her sister Emira calls her.
"Amity you got mail!"
Excitement bubbles up inside Amity. She got up and went down the stairs.
She quickly grabbed the letter from her sister. "Thanks bye!" She runs back to her room and flops on her bed. She opens the letter.
June 28
Dear Amity,
Hi! It's me Luz. I made it to California! It's super hot here. The food is ok and the beds are comfortable. I already made some friends. Their names are Willow and Gus. They aren't soldiers, but work here. I didn't get to learn much about you or tell you about my self so I am now. I like the good witch Azura books. Some people might think there for kids, but I believe anyone at any age can enjoy them. I'm really great full that you let me write letter to you. I didn't have any friends at school for all my life. I was the weird kid that no one liked. I was teased for being a bisexual. The names I was called will alway stick with me, but I learned to move past them and now look at me! I'm proud of who I am. I should probably go now. Looking forward from letters from you! - sincerely Luz.

Dear Luz,
I was looking forward to your letter! I love the Azura books too! No one else I know reads them. I have really strict parents and two twin siblings. Edric and Emira. You probably remember them for school, they're trouble makers all right. Always playing pranks on me. My dad and mom own a home security company and go on a lot of business trips. My friend Boscha is a jock. Captain of the Soccer team and Skara is in the school band. When I'm not studying I like to read down at the pier I took you too. It's a nice place to get away too. I have a white cat named Azura after the books. I feel like I can trust you so here it goes... I'm Gay. I felt like that sense you shared that part of you I would too. Can't wait or receive more letters from you!

Dear Amity.
Your girl is in Brazil! It's beautiful here. I still have to get up really early, probably earlier then you do for school. like to think that while I'm doing push ups dying inside. you're doing math or English and probably dying inside too. I loved the picture you sent of your cat. She's so cute! I bet she's a good girl. I worked at a cafe too. It's called the owl house. I started working there when I was 14. The lady who owns the place (her name is Eda) became like a second mom too me. She has a dog named king. I miss them. Would you mind going and checking on them? When I get back we're gonna hang out and I'm gonna take you to all my favorite places! Here's a picture of a cool rock I found!

Months go bye and summer fades into fall. The two write back and forth. Growing closer each letter.
October 29th
Dear Luz,
HiLuz. I love that picture you sentof you and your friends.It was my birthday today. My parent weren't around to celebrate like always, but my brother and sister threw me a party. It was nice. I wish you were here to celebrate with me. You've become my best friend even though we're miles apart. I drew you a picture of cake and balloons so you can feel like you were there. Halloween is coming which means another party but more crazy. My friend Skara insisted we dress up so I'm going to be aotter in honorof your favorite animal. Can't wait to here from you!

Even thoughAmity was miles away from Luz her feelings grew into something new. They were feelings she never felt before. She lay awake at night think about her far away friend. It was strange. How could you miss someone you only met in person once?
November 8th
Dear Amity,
Hi!!! So I gotta tell you something. I think I might like you. Wow I sound like a totally middle schooler right now. I was wondering that when I get back we could on a date to see if there's something there? I will admit i have some fears. I have days were in think I'm not strong enough.. I'm scared of losing my friends.I have normal fears too. Like human souls stuck in cat bodies, jerks online who wanna debate, and milk because I'm lactose intolerant. I'm in Vietnam now. It's getting kinda rough over her so I like to imagine that day down by the pier. I close my eyes and see your pretty smile.I don't want you to worry but I won't be able to write for a while.

A month past and no letter. Usually Amity got one every month. Another mom pasted and still no Letter. I'm was worried. She sat on her head looking through all the letters and pictures Luz sent. She held back her tears. It was to early to cry.
"Hey Amity!" Her siblings burst into her room causing Azura to jump.
"What you got there?" Edric, her brother asked.
Amity didn't say anything. She just kept looking at her pictures. Her siblings came over to get a closer look.
" is this the person your getting letters from?" Emira asked.
"Yeah." Amity smiled. "She's pretty great."
"Is she your girlfriend?" Edric asked.
"What no!" Amity Blushed. Well not yet. We've only met in person once. she wants to go on a date when she gets back, but I can't respond because she can't get the letter. It's getting to Rough out there and I'm worried."
Edric and Emira exchanged a glance. They could tell that their baby sister had clearly gotten feelings for this girl, who was clearly older.
"Amity how old is she?" Edric questioned.
"Eighteen like me" Amity said.
"Amity you know we love and want what's best for you." Emira started. " it's gonna be hard to be with someone in the military. Especially someone you've only met in person once"
"I know, but I can do it. I care about her and she's my best friend." Amity said
The twins saw the determination in their sisters eyes
"Ok" Emira said and they left the room.
Two more months past and still no letter.
Amity was standing by her locker with her friends Boscha and Skara. When a girl comes up to her. Regina. Head of the basketball team.
"Hey Amity" she said confidently and winked. "You wanna go out tonight?"
Amity sighed "I'm flattered Regina, but I'm not interested in dating right now"
" Oh ok" Regina said and walked away awkwardly.
"Amity what gives?" Boscha said. "You two could have been the power couple of the school!"
"I'm not interested because I'm waiting on someone" Amity simply said.
"Who?" Skara asked.
"Her" Amity said and pulled a picture of Luz out of her pocket.
"Didn't she go here?" Skara said. "She looks familiar"
"Yeah she graduated last year" Amity said.
" is she in the military?" Boscha asked
"Yeah" Amity said. "She's so brave" she was clearly swooning now.
"Why would you wait on her?" Boscha said. I mean she's older then you. What if she doesn't come back? Did you think of that."
"She will come back" Amity said. " I know she will"
"How do you know that though?" Boscha continued.
Amity was getting upset. "Because I know she will! She's gonna come back." Amity sniffled.
Skara glared at Boscha. "Don't worry Amity I'm sure she'll come back."
Another 2 months and still no letter. Edric and Emira took Amity to a school Soccer game. Amity went to support Boscha who was the stair player, but he mind still wandered back to her friend. They get to the bleachers and sit down. Skara sings the national anthem and nails it. But something unusual happens. The Principal walks out to the field and and takes the microphone form Skara.
"Attention students" he says. It is my honor to welcome back the very first Hexside student to join the military! Everyone welcome back Luz Noceda!"
Luz walks onto the Field as students clap. Her eyes search the crowd.
Tears spring to Amity's eyes and before she knows it she's running into the field. Her eyes meets Luz's. Luz opens her arms and Amity runs into them. Luz is taller then her so she buried her face into the older girls shoulder.The principal was very confused.
"I guess these two know each other" he said.
"I missed you so much" Amity sniffled.
Luz now was also crying. "missed you too"
Amity looked up at Luz.
"Oh!" Luz exclaimed. She reached into her pocket grabbed something and put it in Amity's hand" it's the rock!"
"I will treasure this rock forever" Amity said. She locked eyes with Luz and only one thought came to her mind. " I like you too"
Luz's eyes widen in surprise" what!"
Amity leans in and kisses her on the cheek. " I like you too. You have a way of sneaking into people's hearts"
"That means you'll go on a date with me?" Luz asked
"Yes" Amity smiled.
Excitement rushing through Luz as she picks Amity up and spins her around. She puts her back down and looks up, realizing that they were being watched.
"We should probably head to the bleachers. " she said.
"Yeah." She takes Luz's hand and they walk back to the bleachers.
Here soldier was finally home.
I really hope someone reads this because I really enjoy writing it.
