Hey so I was slightly disappointed by the lack of Tikki and Plagg stories and they just so happen to be two of my favorite characters, so I had this idea for a pirate Tikki and Plagg Oneshot so here it is!
The man took a deep breath as he walked from the harbor into the small town. It's been too long since he was last here. The man gets more and more nervous as he walks deeper into the town. He fidgets with the rim of his gray overcoat.
'Maybe this was a bad idea,' he thinks, bringing a tanned hand to brush his dark hair out of his face. 'It's not too late to turn back, find my ship and never set foot in this place again.'
"Plagg? Plagg is that you?"
Now it's too late.
Plagg turns just in time to be tackled with a hug by his old friend Trixx.
"Plagg! We never thought we would see you again! What are you doing here?" Trixx asks after finally giving Plagg a chance to breathe.
"I've learned while I was gone that nothing beats the cheese from here so I thought 'why not come back, catch up on my cheese eating and stay a bit.'" Plagg replies nonholectly.
Trixx jumps up and down in excitement "Really? You really mean it? Oh man I have to take you to the rest of the crew, come on!" Before Plagg could protest, Trixx grabbed his arm and started dragging him around town.
"We all heard stories about you sailing the seven seas, but we weren't sure how much to actually believe," Wayzz said. They were all gathered around a table in Nooroos's library, well all but one.
"Yes, you were always the talk of my mistress's home." said Pollen, Plagg found out she was currently working as a maid for one of the more wealthy families in town.
"I guarantee that most of what you've probably heard about me is fake." Plagg says leaning back in his chair, acting relaxed even though he was very much not.
"So you didn't rob the Nobleman Gabriel Agreste or André Bourgeois?" Trixx says absently playing with his flute. He was apparently the town musician.
Plagg thinks back to that night. That's when everything changed for him. It was when he first met the kid. Plagg just shrugged in response. "Define 'robbed'."
Dusuu burst out laughing. 'Ever the emotionalist.' Plagg thought. It's good for working with theatre like she does though. Except when that emotion is 100% aimed at you. Plagg's shirt was still a little damp from when she cried into his shoulder when she saw him.
Wayzz frowned a bit, and ever concerned for others (good thing he became a doctor) said, "They say that the Agreste boy disappeared after you robbed them. Might you know where he is?"
Plagg stiffened. He did know. Right now they should be on their way to Salvida to pick up supplies, and drop off the money they… earned.
Wayzz gauged his reaction. "So you do know. Everyone thinks he's dead."
Plagg rolls his eyes. "He's fine, well he should be unless he gets himself into trouble again."
The group just kind of looked at him.
"You really don't think that I'd just let my ship sail aimlessly do you?" Plagg grinned.
"Wait," Noroo says in his naturally quiet voice. "Where's your ring?"
"Plagg gave Noroo a soft smile. Nooroo was always the observant one of the group. "There's always got to be a caption of the great Cataclysm right?" Plagg smirked at their reaction.
"You made Gabriel Agreste's son the caption of your ship?" Pollen exclaimed.
Plagg shushed them, "He'd actually prefer that everybody thought he was dead."
"We can do that!" Trixx states proudly, "I mean, we haven't told anyone where you've been for the past 5 years."
The rest of the day the group of 6 smiled and laughed, Catching Plagg up on everything that's happened in the past 5 years. Not a single one of them mentions her.
They each said their goodbyes at the end of the day. "I'm so glad you've decided to come back." Pollen says giving Plagg a hug. Another tearful hug from Dussu, a nod from Nooroo, and a pat on the back from Wayzz later, it was just Trixx and Plagg walking through town. Not much of it has changed since he left, Plagg noted.
"Hey, there's one more place that I would like to show you." Trixx says leading Plagg in one direction. Plagg couldn't help but wonder where they were heading.
They finally stopped in front of a bakery. Plagg could smell the freshly baked breads and cookies from their place on the street. He had to admit, it smelled good. Not camembert good, but still pretty good.
"Best bakery in all of Paris." Trixx says looking over at Plagg, "The Dupain-Cheng bakery."
Plagg froze. He recognized that name. It was pigtail's last name, which means that she works here.
Plagg unwillingly took a step back. Trixx looked at his friend sympathetically. In a quiet voice he said, "She hasn't been the same since you left you know."
Plagg swallowed, forcing himself to talk, to pretend he's fine. "I doubt that. It's been 5 years Trixx, I'm sure she's moved on."
"Have you?" Trixx questioned.
Plagg looked down at his boots.
"She's in there right now. They're closing in about 10 minutes so she shouldn't be too busy." Trixx put a comforting hand on Plagg's shoulder. "Talk to her. Let her know you're here before she hears it from someone else." Then Trixx walked away, playing his flute softly. Leaving Plagg in an emptying street.
He knows he should. For her and for himself. Plagg knows that if he doesn't do it now then he'll chicken out later and it'll make her sad to find out he's here and that he didn't tell her. At least he hoped it would.
Plagg tentatively took a step forward. Then another, and another. He killed a good 2 minutes just trying to get to the front door. Then he stood there for another minute trying to get the guts to open the store door. 'This is ridiculous,' Plagg thought. 'I'm the great pirate Chat Noir! At least I was.' Plagg took a deep breath, the faster he walked in the faster it would be over. Though honestly he might now want it to end. He had no idea what her reaction might be.
'Just do it Plagg, just do it.' he yelled at himself. With a sudden burst of confidence, Plagg walked into the bakery.
Then he froze as he saw just who was behind the counter. She was just as pretty as he remembered her to be, maybe even more. They were around 22 now. He could only see her backside, for she was facing away from him. Looks like she was frosting cupcakes. "I'll be with you in just a minute!" she calls behind her. Her voice, oh gosh how he's missed her voice. Plagg remembered how much she loved to sing when they were kids.
"I'm sorry, I've got to go check in with the owners real quick, then I promise I'll be right back with you."
'Now or never' Plagg thought. He gulped.
"Hi, Tikki."
Tikki froze right before walking out the door towards the kitchen. Then she whipped around towards Plagg, her sky blue eyes widening. They stood in silence for what felt like eternity. Tikki slowly walked up to Plagg as if in a trance. He gave her a hopeful smile, but that smile was soon wiped off as she slapped him across the face.
Tikki stomps out of the front room and into the back, quickly climbing up the staircase. As soon as Plagg recovered he started running after her.
"Tikki, hey Tikki please wait!" he called after her, trying to get the upset girl to stop. She didn't and she soon reached the top, walked inside the door, and locked it behind her.
Plagg walked slowly up to the door, he knocked lightly, "Tikki?"
"Go back to your ship you filthy pirate!" Tikkie yelled from the other side of the door, the sound of sobs followed soon after, "I'm sure your crew is missing their great caption Chat Noir."
Plagg felt a pang. Not from the insults, no he deserved those. It was the fact that he had made her cry. Plagg leaned his forehead against the door. A couple seconds of silence passed before Plagg quietly said, "I'm not the caption anymore. That title now belongs to my first mate." Plagg continued, "he's a nice kid, though he was never supposed to be on my ship in the first place." Plagg paused for a second. When only slight sniffling was heard from the other side of the door, he started the story.
"After one of our… raids, the son of a Nobleman ran after us, begging for me to let him come with us. I had just established a fine crew and I didn't need an inexperienced 16 year old on my ship causing trouble. So I declined him and we left. For about 3 days after the raid I kept getting reports about chores being magically done without my crew doing anything, to the point that they started believing that there was a ghost on the ship."
"Then finally on the fourth day, I walked into the kitchen and there he was. He looked at me and gave me this grin that only a troublemaker would have. And do you know what he said to me? He looked me straight in the eye and said, 'you really need to get a better taste in cheese.'"
A small giggle was barely audible from the other side. Plagg let a soft smile grace his lips as he continued. "I'll be honest, it took a lot of convincing but I eventually let him stay. Turns out he was very skilled in the art of fencing and he's almost beaten me a few times. The kid was a great asset to the crew and eventually made his way up to my first mate. He was always level headed and on task, well at least until the girl showed up."
Plagg slid his back down the door and sat down leaning against it. "The poor thing was out exploring the world for the first time. She somehow ended up in a shady market where it's almost dangerous for us to be there. It was a good thing that we were though because she got into a bit of a mess and my first mate had to save her."
"Now I always knew that the kid was a sucker for romance, but I never knew he was so hopeless with it. He brought her back to the ship and first look at him I knew he was a goner. The girl ended up joining and it was nice to have her around. She gave the ship a sort of home feeling that it had lacked. She's kind, and loving, sarcastic, competitive, an overall great person. She… she reminded me a lot of you." Plagg ended quietly.
There was silence for a couple seconds before Tikki said from behind the door, "don't you think it's a little unfair to compare me to someone I've never met?"
Plagg chuckled softly, "normally yes, except you do know her."
"And how can you be so sure about that?" Tikki asked.
"She had your earrings"
A small asp was barely audible from the other side of the door.
"One look at the two and you would have no doubt that they were made for eachother. It reminded me of what the old man said when he gave us the jewels when we were kids. So, seeing pigtails already having the earrings, I gave my ring to the kid. Cause just like old Mr. Fu said, 'the cat and the ladybug should always stick together,' right?"
Plagg paused, letting that sink in. "Tikki, I…" Plagg struggled, "I thought about you everyday, but I kept telling myself that you would be better off without me, and maybe you really would be. But I couldn't handle at least not having you in my life. So I came back. Now, I don't expect anything back at all. I just… I had to let you know from me.."
Plagg stood and stared at the door for what felt like forever. There was only silence. When he was convinced that Tikki wasn't going to come out, he slowly turned to leave. His back was turned when he heard the door creak open. "Plagg." Tikki's voice sounded.
Plagg turned to take in a tearful Tikki. They stood in silence for what felt like an eternity, staring into each other's eyes. Finally Tikki let out a muffled sob and burst forward. Plagg quickly opened his arms as she ran into them. He held her tightly as she cried into his shoulder, his own tears started to fall. "I missed you so much." Tikki sobbed, "I never though I would see you again."
"Sh," Plagg whispered soothingly, his tears falling into Tikki's hair, "I'm here now, and I don't plan on going anywhere."
As they held each other, thankful to be finally reunited, soft flute music could be heard from outside.
