Summary: Clarke and Bellamy had a secret relationship, from completely different towns, they knew nothing personal about each other except their first names. Now Clarke's ended it, she's moved and Bellamy thinks he's lost her. Only things are about to get a lot more interesting.

Chapter One
Friday.

Clarke stood looking up at the stone face of Arkadia Prepatory. Every inch of the outer school had not changed from when she had been a kid..
Back then she was a popular, wealthy child.
Now she wasn't any of those things. No longer a popular girl but an adult with very few friends. No longer wealthy, all the money cut from her. Interesting and fun, those aspects of her personality fled long ago when she had left Arkadia at eighteen.
Never did she think that it would be possible for her to be back here. Standing in front of this school as their newest English Lit teacher. It wasn't what she had envisioned for her future, not the one she had planned for.

The car door behind her slammed shut causing her to startle slightly, having been caught up in her intense staring at the school she had almost forgotten.

"Mommy,"

Clarke sighed in contentment when Madi's arm slid around her waist. "Sweetheart," The only reason she had taken this job was because of her children. She couldn't give them much in life, but by taking this position she could give them an excellent education. Arkadia would pay for half of her three children's tuition and they would continue to deduct money from her salary each week to pay for the rest. However, she knew if she left to purse other work then she would either need to pay Arkadia back all the money they contributed or her children would need to leave the school.

"This is so cool."

Clarke smiled down at the eight year old, cool wasn't the word she would use to describe Arkadia but she was glad Madi liked it. "What do you think, Zeke, Ontari?" She looked over her shoulder to see the two sixteen year olds leaning against the car, the permanent glares on their faces. They loathed the idea of attending school in Arkadia, both almost begged her, something they had never done before, to go to the local public school. She couldn't send them though, she couldn't refuse this offer.

"I hate this."

Zeke didn't often agree with Ontari, yet in this case he didn't see any reason why he shouldn't. They'd both done their own research when Clarke had given them the news. They knew Arkadia was for the rich, the extremely wealthy rich and that was not them.

Clarke sighed, she didn't like their attitudes but the more she pushed for them to behave, the more attitude they gave. "I think you'll like it here." She told them, the same exact line she'd been repeating for the last three weeks. It still felt as though she was speaking to a brick wall.

Turning back towards the main building in front of them, she took in the grey and white features. It hadn't changed in design, but it had certainly been maintained.

"Miss Griffin?"

Clarke's head snapped to the side at the sound of an unfamiliar voice. "Uh, yes?"

"Lexa Woods, Head Mistress of Arkadia Prepatroy." Seeing the confusion lighting Clarke's eyes, she smiled. "I saw you standing out here, no one else is supposed to arrive for another three days."

Clarke nodded slightly. "Pleasure to meet you."

"Pleasure is all mine." She glanced down at the little girl with black ringlets. "Little Madi, I presume."

Madi smiled up at her, all her teeth showing. "Hi."

Clarke gestured behind her. "These are my teens. Ezekial and Ontari." She didn't miss the fact that neither teen even glanced in the direction of their Headmistress, they were completely ignoring her presence.

"Come, let's get you settled."

Clarke breathed in deeply, following after the Headmistress, Madi clinging to her hand and her teenagers lagging behind. This was it, a start to a new life and while part of her was excited for it, pleased that they would be getting a fresh start the other part was sad for what she was leaving behind.

She broke their kiss and for a millisecond she savored the annoyed look on his face. Her stomach twisted at the knowledge that he disliked their connection being broken. It was clear to her that he enjoyed these secret meetings as much as she did.

"I have to go." The words left her mouth quietly, truthfully she didn't want to leave him and the bed they shared, this was her getaway from all her responsibilities at home.

"Stay, just a little while longer." He moved her arms up, gripping her wrists in his right hand and pinning them to the bed above her head.

"I can't." She never bothered to explain why, because her private life was hers and he had his own. What happened here in this hotel room was physical, not emotional. It was the agreement they had made in the bar six months ago. That wasn't to say he kept his end of their deal, he had tried to make it more but she couldn't. He wouldn't look at her twice if he knew the truth. No one ever did.

He let go of her wrists and flipped onto his back, giving her the space to move. "Clarke..."

"Don't," A part of her had known this was coming, he'd called her a few nights ago to talk which was not part of their arrangement. "It cannot be more then it is."

"Why?" He questioned, leaning up onto his elbow. "Are you ashamed of me?" He used his fingertips to gently caress her bare hip. "You barely know me, Clarke. I have more to offer you then just sex."

Clarke sat up, reaching across to touch his cheek with tenderness. "I cannot give you what you want...or need." She grabbed her shirt from the end of the bed, holding it over her breasts modestly.

"Clarke, I'm falling for you."

Clarke smiled softly, it wasn't that she didn't have the same feelings, she did. But she had never revealed to him that she had three children at home. Two completely self-destructing teenagers and the baggage they carried. That was without mentioning herself, and how she was slowly falling apart. He didn't deserve to be brought into it. Not permanently.
This hotel room was her sanctuary, a place where she could forget about everything going on in the real world, if she told him the truth then it would no longer be her sanctuary.
Not that it truly mattered anymore.
Clarke hadn't found the strength to tell him that this would need to end, that she was moving, perhaps even further away from him.

"I'm sorry, Bellamy." Clarke stood up, retreating to the bathroom. Inside she leant against the door, taking a deep breath. Once she walked out this door, she would be leaving him behind...forever.

That had been a mere week ago, and still she felt her heart ache at the thought of never seeing him again.

"Raven!"

Raven rolled over in her bed, tugging her pillow over her head in attempt to block out Octavia's unholy screeching from the other side of the jack and jill bathroom. She didn't bother to check the time but she knew it was early, too early to be up on their last day of freedom.

"Raven!"

Raven knew she was near now, the screeching was louder. "Go away."

Octavia yanked the pillow from her sisters head. "Get up, let's go shopping."

"No." Raven pulled the covers up and attempted to bury herself underneath.

The other teenager grabbed the cover and tried to pull it off, Raven however would not let go. "Come on!"

"No."

"Raven!"

"Fuck, O, are you trying to blow my ear drum?" Raven asked in annoyance, Octavia had leant as close to her ear as possible to yell her name. "I don't want to."

"Please."

Raven groaned, she knew from experience Octavia would not give up until she got her way. "What time is it?"

"9." Octavia muttered, immediately taking a step back when Raven glared at her with narrowed brown eyes, clearly annoyed.

"You're kidding?! 9am, O; it's the last day of summer break. Let me sleep."

Octavia slumped down on the bed. "You need to get up anyway. You forgot to unload the dishwasher last night." She almost giggled when Raven sat up.

"Please tell me Bellamy did not notice that before he left? He'll ground me. That's the fourth time I haven't unloaded it this week." Bellamy was a stickler for chores, he didn't give them many but the ones he gave he expected to be done. Although it seemed strict to them, it was probably pretty normal.

Octavia giggled. "I unloaded it for you last night but that means you owe me...so shopping?"

Raven groaned. "Fine, you win. Shopping." She watched her sisters face light up as she jumped off the bed and skipped towards her room again, happy. "Hey, O..." She waited till she turned. "Thanks."

Octavia smiled, despite arguing sometimes, they always had each others backs. Best-friends and sisters for life. "Anything for you. Just don't forget again."

Lexa opened the door to the apartment, motioning them through. "I'm sorry to say it isn't much. This particular place was used for the headmistress years ago but since she left it hasn't been touched. In normal circumstances our staff do not live on campus." Lexa turned on the lights.

Clarke only smiled, she was right, it wasn't much and it could certainly use some work but it was perfect for them until she could save up enough money to get a place of their own. "It's great, Miss Woods."

"Oh, please, call me Lexa." She opened the window allowing some fresh air to drift in. "It is only a two bedroom which will mean a tight squeeze..."

Clarke cut her off. "We will make it work. I want to say thankyou, if it wasn't for this place and your offer I wouldn't be able to take this job." In fact she had almost turned it down knowing that she could not afford to move, she just didn't have the money to buy a property and landlords required a bond as well as rent in advance. She hadn't had the money on her, especially while paying for their small place in Polis. But Lexa had been keen on acquiring her for the school so she organized for them to stay in the small apartment on campus while they looked for a property. "Thankyou." Clarke said again, watching the children walk down the hallway to take a look.

Lexa smiled. "You're welcome, Clarke. We look forward to you joining our staff, Arkadia is definitely in need of some new teachers to breathe life into our students." Lexa picked up her bag again. "I should leave you to get settled. Here are the keys." She placed them in Clarke's palm. "School resumes in three days, so settle in. Your children's uniforms will be delivered tomorrow along with their books and class schedules."

"Thank-you."

Lexa only laughed gently. "You are most welcome, Clarke. All information on your homeroom group and your English Lit classes are on the counter."

"Homeroom?" Clarke frowned, that was new to her.

"Oh, all teachers here at Arkadia are given a homeroom. Ah, let's see." She walked over and picked up the packet. "You're homeroom 10B. Sophomores." She handed the piece of paper to Clarke. "15 and 16 year olds. Good luck." She grinned. "Those are generally the more wild ones. Your children are..."

"Sixteen." And most definitely wild. Though Clarke did not speak those thoughts aloud.

Octavia put the sunglasses on, spinning around to look at Raven. "Hey, what do you think?"

Raven put the dress she was holding back on the rack and gave Octavia a smile. "They suit you."

"Perfect. I think I'll get them." Octavia took them off, casting a small side look around the shop before discretely popping them into her bag. "Come on, let's get food."

Raven rolled her eyes, looping her arm through O's. "You're going to get caught one day."

"You're one to talk. Don't think I didn't see you pick up those earrings." She grinned with Raven smiled. "Quiet the pair aren't we."

"There you two are."

Raven gasped a little when Murphy's arms slipped around her waist catching her off guard. "Fuck, Murphy." She felt his lips press against the inside of her neck. "Uh, no. Rules remember."

"Raven," He grumbled when she pulled out of his arms. "Come on."

"I fuck you when you're single, not when you are having one of your relationships." She used the word relationship very loosely, they never lasted long.

"You're mean."

Raven rolled her eyes. "Respect me, or I'll drop kick you." She saw his grin, and was well aware that he didn't actually mean his words. They were friends, infact he was probably her best-friend outside of Octavia...and occasionally they fucked but they were both well aware that they weren't relationship material for each other. "O, where..." She turned to find her sister making out with Lincoln. "Eww,"

Murphy chuckled. "That grosses you out?"

"She's my sister." Raven offered as an explanation. "Where are Jas and Monty?" Normally the two of them were always hanging around Murphy.

"Setting up for tonight. You and O still coming?" He was throwing one last summer party while his mother was out of town.

"Yeah, well, I mean if I can pry her away from Lincoln. Might need a crow bar."

"Bitch, I can hear you." Octavia spoke pulling away from her boyfriend. "We'll be there. I just need a dress."

"Try to pay for the next item, or store managers will start to get suspicious." Lincoln told her, placing another kiss on her head.

Octavia raised her eyebrow. "You are not my father," She told him in a clear, do not tell me what to do, way.

"No, but if you get arrested then you won't be at the party." He grinned. "I'm bringing your favorite alcohol..." He leaned down whispering a little something extra in her ear which made her blush.

"Hmm, yup can't get arrested tonight." She agreed. "Come, let's eat then shop." She grabbed Lincoln's hand and dragged him along with her.

Murphy chuckled, looking down at Raven. "You're going to have to be the more sober one tonight."

"When am I not?"

Sunday

"Why are you doing this? I do not understand. You have a bright future ahead of you and you continue to throw it away." Clarke gripped the steering wheel tight, pulling the car out of the parking lot. She was struggling to contain the disappointment and anger she was feeling. Arkadia was supposed to be their fresh start but still Ontari was pulling the same old stunts. "I thought we agreed to put this behind us after last time."

"I never agreed to anything."

"Is this the kind of example you want to set for Madi?"

Ontari let out a disgruntled groan. "Why should I have to set an example? I didn't ask to be her..."

"Don't." Clarke interrupted her before the teenager could say something hurtful regarding Madi, the little girl was sitting in the backseat. "I took you in with the intention to better your life. I know you didn't ask for it, but do you honestly think the foster system would be better?"

"I didn't ask to be one of your stray rescues, Clarke. I would have done fine on my own."

That kind of talk only served to irritate Clarke. "Fine on your own? You wouldn't have had half the opportunities given to you if you lived in a group home." She attempted to steady her breathing, she might not of had much, but what she did she gave to her children. "You weren't just some stray kid, Ontari, you are Roan's kid sister. I couldn't have let it happen to you."

"I should have stayed with him."

"Roan knew you needed more then he could provide." She knew that the teenager still held a lot of anger due to her brother giving up his rights.

Ontari scoffed, puller her earbuds out of her pocket. "I had all I needed with him."

"I wish that was true, sweetheart. I really do."

"But you don't Clarke. You don't even let me see him."

Clarke frowned, she hated that Ontari blamed her for that but she let the teenager away. "Hey," She called out before the teenager could stuff her ear buds into her ears. "What happened isn't acceptable. No matter the anger you feel. You're grounded, and while you are grounded you need to think about what you want for your future."

"To be away from you."

"Ontari,"

"Isn't community service enough punishment?" The teenager grumbled, stuffing her earbuds into her ears, the conversation ending.

Clarke drew a deep breath to keep herself calm, the last thing she wanted to do was say or do something she would regret later.
In all her years she had never expected that this would be who she could become. As a child she had often thought she would travel the world painting. But that was before the accident that claimed her fathers life and let her unable to bare biological children. It had been a lot for her seventeen year old self and it was that event that led to her downward spiral. A terrible marriage, that had started with her mother cutting her off financially and ended with her a widow with custody of her six year old stepson.

Pulling into the small driveway near the small apartment at the school, she was unsurprised when Ontari jumped out off the car and was on her way inside before the engine was off. "What am I going to do?"

"Get out the car."

Clarke jumped, glancing in the rearview mirror at Madi. She had forgotten her littlest one was in the car. "You gave me a fright." She shook her head when the little girl laughed.

"She means what are we doing with the criminal upstairs." Zeke informed his little sister from outside the car, he was sweating obviously having just been for a run.

"Not we, I...and don't call your sister a criminal." Clarke wound her window up and stepped out of the car.

"One, she is not my sister. Two, she just got arrested for the second time in three months. Criminal."

"She hasn't gone to jail yet." Madi informed him, skipping into the apartment, her mother shutting the door behind them.

"With any luck they will put her there this time."

"Zeke!" Clarke snapped, rubbing her forehead.

"She got community service." Madi chimed.

Zeke smirked, chuckling. "Does she have to wear an orange jumpsuit for that? Because personally I think it would make a great christmas card picture."

"You are an asshole Zeke!" Ontari shouted from her and Madi's bedroom.

"Whatever you say criminal." Zeke grinned, heading to his room.

"O, Rave, you home?"

Octavia turned around to face her bedroom door, relief spreading through her body when she saw it was still locked. Quickly she put the lid on the bottle of alcohol and stashed it under her pillow.
Hearing the sound of her brothers boots on the stairs, she popped a mint into her mouth and hurried over to unlock the door, quickly turning around and sprinting back to the bed. Only just managing to open a book before he opened the door. "Hey Bell," She smiled over at him.

"Hey, didn't you hear me call out? Raven home?"

"No and no. She should be soon though, I think she was meeting up with a friend." Truth being she had absolutely no idea where Raven was but still she had to cover for her. It was their deal.

Bellamy nodded, dinner was at six so he expected the other teenager to be home momentarily. "I brought dinner. Come down before it gets cold."

Octavia could feel the nervousness in her stomach, the last thing she wanted was to be in close proximity to Bellamy, just encase he could small the alcohol on her. "Let me finish this chapter then I'll be right down."

That surprised Bellamy but he nodded. "Ten minutes."

"Sure Bell," Octavia breathed a sigh of relief when he headed out of her room and back down the stairs. She knew she had to brush her teeth, change into some pyjamas and then she could go downstairs. Hopefully then he wouldn't be able to smell the alcohol on her, if he did then she was certain he'd make it impossible for her to sit for a week.

...

"What did you get for dinner..." Octavia smiled apologetically when she rounded the corner and realized that he was on the phone. Quietly she took her seat and grabbed herself a slice of pizza.

"I'm home."

"Bell's on the phone."

"Oh, sorry." Raven mumbled, dumping her gym bag on the ground and taking a seat at the table. "Yum, pizza."

"I thought you were out with a friend?" Octavia questioned, briefly wondering if that friend was Murphy.

Raven raised her eyebrow, before seeing Octavia's look. "Oh, right, yeah...we ended up going for a run. Got to get in shape for the swim team."

Octavia grinned, knowing Raven was covering all bases for Bellamy otherwise the gym bag would have tipped him off. "Where were you?" She whispered.

"Tell you later." Raven hissed, knowing the Bellamy was simply seated on the other side of the table on the phone.

"You better."

Bellamy hung up the phone. "Sorry, girls, work call." He explained. "How was your run, Rave?"

Raven swallowed the gulp of water she had taken. "Good. Sorry I'm late, B. We took the long track."

"Algood. How far you run?"

Raven kicked Octavia under the table, of course Bellamy had tacked onto their earlier conversation and now she had to answer questions. "Four miles."

"Everything alright at work, Bell?" Octavia changed the subject, hoping to steer him away from Raven.

"Your Uncle Nathan called earlier, needs me to take on a community service kid at the DropShip." He frowned when he realized his beer bottle was empty. "But that means I may need to take a trip down south on the weekend, so you may be left alone this weekend. Enough about work though. Do you both head into town and grab your school things today?" He stood up to get another beer from the fridge. They were eating in the kitchen nook so he could still hear them.

Raven and Octavia shared a smile once his back was turned, a trip meant he would be gone all weekend. They bumped fists in excitement.

"Party?" They mouthed at the exact same time, causing them both to giggle under their breath.

"Girls?"

"Oh, yeah, of course we did."

Raven picked up her slice of pizza. "We are in the same homeroom this year. It's a new teacher I think, I never seen her name before. Miss Griffin."

Bellamy raised his eyebrow. "Interesting. The new kid I just mentioned is Ontari Griffin."

"Trust the new teacher to have a messed up kid."

"Octavia." Bellamy spoke her name in a slightly disapproving tone. "Don't judge."

"I'm not. I'm just saying."

Bellamy shook his head. "What will you girls do if I go out of town?"

The girls shared a look, mentally jumping for joy that he would be gone for the entire weekend. "Oh nothing, maybe a movie night."

Bellamy picked up his phone from the table when he heard it vibrate, frowning when he saw her name.

I'm sorry, I wish things could be different Bellamy, that would could have had something more...because I lied...I was...no I am falling for you too. I wish that was enough but it cannot be. I moved and we can't see each other anymore.

He gripped the phone in his hand tightly. This was what she had been so preoccupied during their meetings lately. He had just allowed himself to fall for her, and now she was gone. This was exactly why he didn't date.

"Everything alright, Bell?"

"Hmm," He glanced back at the girls in front of him, noticing their curious expressions. "Everything's fine. Tell me more about your plans for school this year." He tried to listen as they started rambling about their plans for the year, their classes and extra curricular activities but his mind was on her.

Clarke.

What was he going to do without her and their secret meetings?

What did you think?

Much Love. x
