Oliver stared at the pile of luggage sitting by the front door of their apartment, shaking his head as he thought about how they were going to fit it all on the plane and leave room for the two of them to enjoy the flight. Even though they had chartered a plane for this trip, Oliver was pretty confident that Felicity had overpacked for their two-week trip to Havana. He loved his wife more than anything in the world, but there were times that he found certain parts of her personality a bit eccentric, even for Felicity.
Just as he opened his mouth to call up the stairs to see if Felicity was going to grace him with her presence, he saw an oversized sun hat walking down the steps towards him.
Scrubbing a hand over his face, Oliver let out a sigh and leaned against the wall as he waited for her to join him. He chuckled when Felicity's face popped out from behind the sun hat. "Is there anything left in the closet?"
"What do you mean?" Felicity asked, placing another suitcase on top of the pile before adding the sun hat to the very top.
"You know we're only spending two weeks in Havana, right?" Oliver asked, wrapping his arms around Felicity's waist and pulling her to his chest. He placed a kiss on the top of her head.
"I know," Felicity replied, tilting her head back to look up at him. She raised her brow as she took in the smile on his face. "Why are you reminding me how long we are going to be gone?"
"Because," Oliver said, turning her around to face the pile of luggage, "look at how many bags you packed. How long were you planning to be gone? Is the giant sun hat essential?"
Felicity stared at the luggage for a few moments and carefully contemplated her answer. "I just want to be prepared for anything. You never know what we're going to get into in the Havana sunshine," she quipped, spinning on her heels and pressing a kiss to his cheek before brushing past him. "That hat will save me from a painful sunburn."
"I'll lather you up with sunscreen," Oliver replied, catching Felicity's waist and pulling her back to him, and capturing her lips in a kiss before she could protest. He smiled as she gave in to his kiss and felt her arms wrap around his neck. After a few moments, Oliver pulled back to look at Felicity with a smile on his face. "I'd also be more than happy to rub aloe on your sun-kissed shoulders."
Felicity rolled her eyes and pushed away from Oliver's chest. "Just you wait until you're the one in pain because of the sun. You'll be begging for my sun hat," she laughed, leaving him behind as she made her way into the living room to gather the last of her things.
Oliver shook his head as he watched her grab her laptop case out of the living room before returning to her spot in front of him. Oliver laughed, wrapping an arm around her waist and pressing a kiss to her forehead. "Are you ready to leave?"
"I think so," Felicity said, smiling up at him. She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him down for a kiss. "Havana, here we come," she whispered as she pulled away.
. . . . . . . . .
Havana was a colorful town, full of interesting people and something happening on every corner. Felicity hated to think they were going to have to leave in a few short days. There was still so much that Felicity was interested in doing while they were in Cuba, but she knew that they would never make it through her entire list. Regardless of how much she wanted to see still, there was no one else Felicity would rather be here with than Oliver. She glanced out at the ocean from her chaise under the umbrella and smiled when she noticed him looking out over the horizon.
The waves splashed against his body, and every so often, Felicity could tell when one crashed a little harder than another. Oliver would cringe just a little bit as the water splashed over him. He would shake it off, and then he'd glance up and down the coastline, keeping an eye out for something. Felicity was sure he was just making sure that she was safe. If there was one thing that Oliver always made her feel, it was safe.
With a contented sigh, Felicity leaned back against the chaise lounge and closed her eyes. This was paradise, and she was deeply saddened that they would be leaving the colorful life of Havana in a few short days. Felicity rested her eyes for a moment before a waiter stopping by her umbrella awoke her.
"Another, senora?" He asked, pointing to the empty glass on the table beside her.
"Yes, please," Felicity replied, propping herself up on her elbow, lifting the glass off the table, and handing it to him. "Could I get a peach daiquiri this time? The strawberry is good, but I'm ready for a different taste."
"Si, can I bring Senor Queen another as well?"
Felicity looked down at Oliver's empty bottle and then out to Oliver, enjoying the waves. She cocked her to the side when she realized he wasn't standing where he had been just a few moments before. She jumped up off her chaise, putting her sunhat on her head, and made her way to the water's edge in search of him.
"What the hell?" Felicity mumbled to herself as she scanned the water, looking for a familiar head bobbing along. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed someone waving at her. "Oliver?" she shouted, furrowing her brow as she pushed the rim of her hat out of her eyes.
Felicity walked towards him with a confused look on her face. She could see his head, shoulders, and one of his arms, but that was it. Why wasn't he standing up as he had been before? With a sigh, Felicity approached him and noticed something floating a few feet away from him. As she neared him, a fit of giggles bubbled up through her body when she realized what was wrong.
"Felicity," Oliver hissed, motioning to her with his finger.
pushed himself
"Yes, Oliver?" she hummed, crossing her arms over her chest as she planted her feet a few steps away from him.
"Could you come here, please?" he asked, offering a half-hearted smile as he kept the majority of his body under the water.
"Or you could stand up and come over here," Felicity replied with a wink. "Or has something rather important gone missing?"
Oliver rolled his eyes as he shook his head. "Could you just come over here, please?"
Felicity tossed her head back with a laugh, grabbing ahold of her hat before making her way over to him. Offering a smile, Felicity stood in front of him and pulled her hat off her head, holding it behind her back so Oliver could stand up. She laughed as she glanced down and saw all the full extent of Oliver's current situation. Felicity glanced up at Oliver, trying her best to stop the fit of laughter she felt bubbling up inside of her. Oliver wasn't happy, and he just wanted to get out of this situation.
"I need your hat," Oliver mumbled, looking down at the water. Thankfully, he was deep enough into the water that he was covered from the waist down. He knew something was wrong as he pushed himself back to the surface after the wave knocked him off his feet. When he glanced down, he noticed that his trunks were no longer clinging to his body. The only thing he could think to do was get Felicity's attention and get her to help himself get out of the water.
"Oh," Felicity mused, rotating her hat round in her hands. "You mean this hat? The one you didn't want me to bring on this trip because I packed too much stuff?"
Oliver furrowed his brow as he met Felicity's eyes. He could tell she was having fun with this, but he just wanted to get out of the water and find another pair of trunks to slip on. "Not now, Felicity."
"Admit that you're happy I have my hat, and I'll let you use it to get yourself out of the water," Felicity replied, moving her hat from behind her back as she crossed her arms over her chest. "And you have to apologize for telling me I overpacked."
Oliver let out a sigh and scrubbed his hands over his face. He contemplated his options quickly. He could just take off running and hope that no one was paying attention to his naked body as he ran out of the water and up to their cabana where he could wrap a towel around his waist while relaxing on a chaise lounge for the rest of the afternoon. Or, he could grovel at his wife and borrow her stupid hat.
"Felicity," he began, looking up to meet her sparkling blue eyes. "In this exact moment, I am beyond ecstatic that you brought that ridiculously oversized hat to protect you from the Havana sunshine, and I would greatly appreciate it if you would let me borrow it so I could cover as much of my lower half as I can until I can get out of the water and up to the cabana."
Felicity smiled and nodded her head as she extended her hat to him. "I'd be thrilled to lend you my hat as long as I get to check out your fine ass as you make your way back to the cabana."
"Deal," Oliver replied, snatching the hat out of Felicity's hands. He positioned in front of his crotch and began to make his way out of the water. He laughed when he felt Felicity's arms wrap around his waist as he made his way out of the water. Apparently, she needed an up-close view of his ass instead of taking it in from a few steps behind.
. . . . . . . .
"Ouch," Oliver groaned, rubbing his hand against the tender skin of his ass as he took in the redness he could see in the mirror. "I can't believe I got sunburnt."
"I guess that'll teach you to make sure you reapply sunscreen every so often," Felicity teased, waving the bottle of aloe in front of his face. Oliver reached out to take it from her, but Felicity pulled it away,
"What are you doing?" he sighed, shaking his head. "And how was I supposed to reapply sunscreen when I lost my trunks in the waves."
"I get to rub the aloe in," Felicity replied, winking as she popped the lid off the bottle. Oliver rolled his eyes and shook his head.
"Enjoy this now," he laughed. "It's never happening again."
"We'll see about that," Felicity laughed. "We'll see."
