As Facilier's lecture continued, I see Victoria turn to Lulu and motion her head to the staff. Lulu sees what she's on about and nods. Lulu glances behind her before sneaking underneath the table. Soon, I see the staff move slightly before sinking below. She returns back up and mouths to Victoria, "What now?"

"Break it!" Victoria mouths back.

Lulu looks at Facilier then at me, apparently unsure if now is a good time. Even under Facilier's prattling of not touching store merchandise, I could see why. If we break it now, Facilier would notice and probably kill us with the little power he'd have left. Then I see Victoria's eyes light up as she gets an idea. "Lulu," she whispers. Victoria leans close to Lulu and whispers in her ear. She nods. They look at each other, and Victoria gives what appears to be a hushed countdown.

Victoria says, "Three…two…one!"

Lulu stretches out her arms to block Facilier's view of Victoria and yells out as loud as she can, "WEEELLLL…"

The loud outburst masks Victoria tapping the ball of the staff to the ground real hard to where Facilier couldn't hear it smash. A dark purple smoke rises from out of it before disappearing in the air. Victoria quickly hides the rod underneath the table in front of her chair to where he can't see the damage done.

Lulu continues, "We'd love to stay and chat awhile longer, but we'd best be off to other places. C'mon guys!"

Alicia looks at all three of us funny. Victoria mouths to her, "We did it." Alicia understands and says, "Yeah. Okay guys, let's get going!"

"Wait!" Facilier yells. "Who's gonna pay for this?!" He points to the broken jar. Lulu answers. "Kayla can kiss you."

Kayla blushes a deep red. "Wh-what? Hang on!"

Suddenly we hear a thud, and everyone's attention turns to the table, which was moved to the side by…Facilier's shadow. He points to the staff in a frantic fit. He saw everything. Facilier turns to us with a furious expression.

"Crap in a hat," Lulu murmurs.

Yvette goes, "I am not dying here." And by some miracle, Yvette becomes useful and fires her wrench at him, making him fall to the ground. "Come on!" Yvette runs out the door, and we don't hesitate to follow her.

As we run down the street, Rose calls out, "What now!?"

Alicia shouts, "Press your fingers to your chips, NOW!"

That's right! The chips Monsanto gave us should send us back! I press my finger to my chip on the back of my right shoulder along with everyone else. The chips start to glow a bright blue.

"Dang it! What's taking so long!" Kayla shouts.

Rose answers with a theory. "The chips must be scanning our fingerprints!"

Soon, Facilier and his shadow come sprinting toward us, shooting balls of magic from his hands. Each of us scream as we manage to dodge them while keeping our fingers to our chips as they continue to scan.

Facilier shouts, "Ya'll are gonna pay for taking what was mine!"

Yvette yells, "Stupid chip! Von Dumb-Dumb and that Monsanto guy can kiss my ass!"

Facilier gets close to us and grins. I looked up at him with wide eyes and a racing heart. "I may not have much power left. But this should be enough to make you PAY!" He summons a ball of green fire in his hand before pulling his arm back and throwing the fireball right at us.

We all screamed.

But before it could hit us, the light blinds us again. And I feel weightless once more.

We all fall to the ground back at our place. All that I hear for a few seconds is heavy breathing and sighs of sweet relief.

Then, Lulu throws her fists in the air. "WOO! That was GREAT!" She falls on her back with a huge grin.

I groan as I get up, "Is everyone here? Everyone alright?"

Rose gets up with Dawn. "I'm okay." Dawn meows in concurrence.

"Five, six, seven," Alicia counts. "Everyone's here."

We hear Von Drake's voice. "Congratulations, girls! You did it!" The screen reveals itself to us and turns on to Von Drakes face. "What'd I tell you all! I knew you could do it!"

Monsanto's voice followed and was clearly pleased. "Yes, indeed. Excellent work, ladies."

Victoria breathes with her hands on her knees, "We almost died."

Von Drake shrugs. "That's the price of being a hero. Close calls."

Yvette frowns and jabs a thumb toward her chip. "And the loading time of our escape route is crap. Can't you fix it?!"

"My apologies, Miss Dalain," said Monsanto. "I'll connect myself to your chips when I can and see to it that the teleportation is far quicker next time."

"Do heroes get to rest?" Victoria asks while still panting for air.

"Ah, yes! Your accommodations!" Monsanto opens a smaller door on the other side of the room, leading to a hallway. We all walk through and see doors on both sides. Our names are attached to each one. We can hear Von Drake over the speakers. "These are your rooms. Monsanto personalized each one so you can feel right at home."

"Yes, I hope you don't mind." Monsanto said. "I took the liberty of using the chip to poke into your memories and found out your bedroom arrangements."

Alicia raised a brow. "You used the chips to enter our minds?"

Monsanto chuckles, "Not to worry. I only access the parts that are the most important for our missions and to make you ladies comfortable. Nothing more."

"And I monitor his chip activity!" Von Drake adds. That gives me a little reassurance. Despite his invasive approach to make us heroes, Von Drake is a swell guy. He'll keep us safe.

Yvette sighs in contentment, "The wonders of technology."

"Get some rest," continued Von Drake. "Because tomorrow's going to be just as much of an adventure!"

"Yay!" Lulu cheers.

"Yay." The rest of us say wearily.

"Well, good night!" Von Drake's screen switches off and we don't hear anything more from Monsanto for the night.

We stood there for a while. Wow. We actually survived a day of hero work. I chuckle. They look at me, and I feel awkward. I rub the back of my neck. "So…see you tomorrow?"

Victoria smiles a little. "Yeah…see you tomorrow."

We bid each other good night before I make my way into my room. And boy, Von Drake wasn't kidding. My room has the necessities with a bed, a desk, and a closet. But on that desk is my black leather journal and my huge assortment of pens (I tend to 'borrow' some from where I work. They still wonder where they are. What can I say? I'm a pen freak). Not only that, but my closet has all my clothes in it as well. My walls are painted a light purple, too. It's the same color walls I had from when I was still living with my parents. Creepy, but nice all the same.

And in the state of exhaustion, that bed is looking mighty comfy. I slip into it, not even bothering to change clothes. I yawn, "I'll bathe in the morning." I doze off into a lovely sleep.

Doctor Facilier watches as the seven brats float off into the night sky. He trembles in anger. How could they?! Thinking they can just break his staff? His only source of immense power!

He sighs, looks at his slumping shadow, and walks back to his shop. Worthless thing. Why couldn't he keep watch and warn him sooner? Probably staring at that Kayla girl with the big and bright eyes. Guess I can't blame him for that.

No matter. He still has a little power and he can regain more. He'll contact Jenna and find another vessel object to store his power. That girl can help him again with that. She'd be more than happy to help a friend.

Facilier returns to his desk and stack his tarot cards to put them in his desk drawer, then pushes in his guest chairs. Grabbing a broom and dustpan, he turns to clean the mess they left behind.

However, after a bit of time sweeping, Facilier's eyes catch a flickering from his overhead light that hangs over his desk. He groans and takes off his hat to run his fingers through his hair. "Damn," Facilier said. "I'll have to screw in that light bulb again. This just isn't my night." He grabs a ladder and sets it up under the light. Facilier climbs up. Meanwhile, his shadow takes over sweeping the floor.

Facilier climbs to the top. He reaches for the bulb and screws it in tightly, making the lightbulb cease its flickering and shine brightly. Facilier smiles before he starts to climb down. But the flickering resumes before he puts his foot to the floor. He frowns and looks back up. "Troublesome bulb." Facilier clambers back up. He reaches for the bulb. But when his fingers came to contact with the bulb's surface, his fingers seared with intense heat. "GAH!" Facilier pulled back, causing the ladder to wobble back and forth. As soon as Facilier steadied the ladder, he shook his hand from the heat. "What was that?!" His shadow looked at him puzzled and tilted his head. Facilier looked back at the bulb as it made a sizzling sound. He squinted his eyes as he got a closer look. It never glowed in that color before…

The bulb shattered. In an instant, glass shards shoot out and puncture his eyes.

Facilier screams and falls back off the ladder. The shadow threw the broom to the side and rushed to catch him.

It was too late.

Facilier landed hard on his head. The impact broke his neck. He croaked out for some excruciating moments as his shadow came to his side and held him. Facilier let out a shaky breath.

And he was gone.

Facilier's shadow looked up and saw sparks sputter out from the emaciated bulb. He was left to frantically look about him and call out for help. But as he was a mere shadow, as much as he tried, no sound could come out of him.
