Okay, so while I'm waiting for my beta of Tales of Unknown Champion to finish reviewing the newest chapter, I thought it was a good idea to put this new fic up. I mean, it's shorter and I am halfway done with it. Plus, I just fell in love with it when I saw the challenge, so I thought I wanted to share it with you. I'm a bit nervous since this is my very first Crossover fic and, I don't want to ruin both fandoms. But I had to do it since my muse wanted it. Please be kind!
Before you read this fic, here are things you need to know. This is an AU story of BTVS, where the series happened in the Post-Avenger's timeline. So, Buffy S5 happened in 2012, post-New York. Everything in the series will remain canon up until the episode Out of My Mind, which is where this story will first take place.
As for the Marvel part of this fic, everything is canon except for Captain America, because I changed a few things of his past so he becomes friends with Spike.
So without further ado, enjoy the story!

Spike hadn't expected to get the call from his old friend as quickly as he did when he first thought of letting the man know that he was still undusty and living in America. But he did, and now he was driving his DeSoto to catch up with his old wartime buddy on what he was up to these days.
When Spike first heard of what happened in New York, he was quite unsettled with the idea that aliens existed. Demons? He can take it because he was one. Souls? He knew the gigantic forehead in LA who was stuck with one. Magic? He lived with Dru, of course, he knew about magic.
But aliens? Well, that one was new.
What wasn't new was finding out that someone he thought was dead was alive after all and involved in the whole fight with the said alien invaders. Spike fell off his seat when he saw on the news that Captain America made an appearance to fight in that battle.
Captain America.
Steve bloody Rogers.
His old mate.
Was alive and kicking alien butt.
Now, he wasn't certain how his old comrade-in-arms survived because the last he heard, he went down with his plane when he fought those Hydra soldiers. He wasn't all that shocked that he was alive though, he was a vampire after all. His very existence is the real definition of someone who came back from the dead.
Anyway, he immediately sent an email to S.H.I.E.L.D. where he heard Rogers was staying, to let the man know that he still had friends that weren't dead or old because he was certain the young captain needed a friend to venture into this new and modern world.
It couldn't have been easy, waking up 70 years in the future and finding out that everyone you knew had died.
Then a couple of days after he sent that email, he received a call from the man himself.
At first, it sounded like Steve didn't believe it was really him, but after a couple of stories about their time together during the War, the man was convinced. He was asked to meet up with him at a diner somewhere between Sunnydale and LA, so that's why he was driving the DeSoto out of Sunnydale.
Harm wanted to come along but he told her no. After that, the stupid bint got into a hissy fit and threatened to leave him. He told her it was fine, he was growing tired of her anyway. This earned him a screech before the barmy bint left his home.
It was around 11 PM when Spike arrived at the diner. He surveyed the place from outside and found that there weren't many people in there, which should be expected since it was in the middle of nowhere. He still stayed on high alert though, just in case.
Experience taught him that things were often not what they seemed.
He entered the diner and spotted Steve right away, sitting in the corner; a cup of coffee was already on the table before him.
He sauntered over to the man's table and smirked at him.
"What's with the getup? Trying to make a statement or something?" he said to the man, eying his attire of black cap, leather boomer jacket, jeans, and shirt.
This earned a smile from the Captain. "Not a statement, just making sure no one recognizes me, considering I'm supposed to keep a low profile after what happened in New York."
The vampire nodded before taking the empty seat across from his friend.
"Yeah, must've been rough. Aliens exist and you're back from the dead," the vamp said.
"Technically, I wasn't dead. Just frozen in ice."
The vampire shrugged at this. "I hate technicalities. They complicate things."
"Speaking of complicated things, you've caused quite a stir back at S.H.I.E.L.D. when you sent that email," Rogers told him.
Spike smirked at this.
"Let me guess, they all got worried because someone with a level 10 clearance contacted them and asked how you were doing?" Spike questioned.
Rogers nodded.
"Well, it ain't my fault that the new management of S.H.I.E.L.D. is a bunch of paranoid sods."
"They didn't want me to meet up with you because they didn't know who you were," Rogers said.
"And I'd like to keep it that way. As I've told Peggy, I'd rather remain anonymous than let a bunch of government boys know about me and my kind. I mean, I already encountered some problems recently and that other group left lasting scars that still trouble yours truly."
A growl escaped from him as he remembered what the Initiative had done to him and how it's still affecting his unlife.
Rogers tilted his head in confusion. "What do you mean by that?"
"Let's just say that your government funded another organization recklessly and this one was more focused on the demonic and supernatural kind. Long story short, they experimented on demons and their director made a human-demon hybrid that would've caused a lot of problems for everyone."
"What?!" the Captain yelled in shock.
Spike waved off the man's concern.
"Don't worry, the Slayer and I were able to take care of it," he said.
"Slayer?"
Spike then explained to Rogers what and who the Slayer was. He also told him more about what happened to the Initiative and how that little problem was handled.
"And that's why I'm sticking around old Sunnyhell. Slayer gives me protection, and in return, I help around so I don't get dusty."
Steve couldn't believe what his friend had been through. He hated the fact that the man-er, the vampire, was experimented on and was now unable to live the life he was supposed to.
Did he like that his friend ate people to survive? No.
But he knew Spike could hold himself back from actually killing people if he wanted to, he's seen it in the past when they were forced to hide behind enemy lines. The vampire controlled himself from devouring any of their compatriots, opting to focus his killer instincts on the enemy. Plus, he's done a lot of good during the War. It didn't seem fair for him to live out the rest of his unnatural life relying on a woman, who, from Spike's description, didn't have that long to live.
"Haven't you thought of getting the chip out?"
Spike raised a brow at this. "Mate, if I could, don't you think I would've done so by now?" He snarked.
"What about S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Rogers asked.
"What about them?" the vampire asked back.
"I mean, I'm sure they have at least one doctor or know someone who could take the chip out."
Spike laughed at this. Oh yes, he could indeed go to S.H.I.E.L.D. and let them mess with his head and take the chip out. That would go over nicely. NOT!
"Rogers, I admire your naivete and trust you place in that organization, but unfortunately I don't share the same sentiments," he said.
This confused the young captain. He can understand that the vampire would have issues trusting the government after what the Initiative did to him, but this was S.H.I.E.L.D. He was certain they wouldn't do anything to the vampire who helped save the world back in WWII.
"Trust me, mate. I'd rather try my luck with the Slayer than with S.H.I.E.L.D. At least I know she wouldn't stab me in the back if I went to her for help."
"S.H.I.E.L.D. wouldn't do that," Steve said with conviction.
"Really? Just like they wouldn't send anyone here to spy on our meeting?" Spike asked.
"What?! No, of course not! I told them I was coming here alone!" Steve said with vehemence.
"Not as alone as you think," the vampire stated, while he eyed the other patrons in the diner.
"The man sitting a few tables away wearing a brown parka has been reading the same page of that newspaper since I got here," Spike informed him, making Steve turn to look at the man. "The blonde broad and the bloke in flannel over by the counter have been pretending to have a conversation about the weather for nearly just as long as the first man. And the sexy waitress that is coming our way is definitely an Avenger, who you fought with in that invasion."
Steve faced said waitress and glared at her.
"Nat, I told Fury I was meeting with Spike alone," Steve told the woman.
She didn't skip a beat or looked concerned that she was caught so soon by the pair. Instead, she simply responded to Roger's words.
"You did, and Fury said it was a bad idea. This man is an Unknown. Margarette Carter gave him a Level 10 Clearance nearly forty years ago. He has a higher level than Fury himself and yet he has not done anything for the organization to help in its cause. His file, at least what few we could access regarding him, states that he joined the war against Hydra with his paramour, who went under the name Drusilla. And yet, he's here right now, alive and looking just as young as his photos from seventy years ago," the Black Widow explained. "Please understand why we'd be concerned."
Steve turned to his friend and found that he was amused at the spy's words.
"See? Paranoid sods," was all the vampire said to all of this.
The Captain sighed. He shouldn't have been surprised that S.H.I.E.L.D. sent someone to spy on them. S.H.I.E.L.D. had a habit of lying, after all. But since they were already here, he might as well milk them for what they are worth. His friend might not like the idea of owing anything to S.H.I.E.L.D., but Rogers didn't like the idea of his friend being neutered for such cruel reasons.
"Natasha, this is my friend, Spike," he said. Introductions are good. Getting them to know each other will make things easier for me to ask S.H.I.E.L.D. to help him.
"Pleasure to meet you," the spy said, offering her hand.
Spike didn't take it. Instead, he answered with a predatory smile. "Pleasure's all mine, pet."
The redhead pulled her hand back. "Fury wants to talk to you," she told the vampire.
"I'm sure he does," Spike sneered. "Is he one of the humans staying in the kitchen trying to listen in on our conversation?"
"What?!" Rogers stood up, looking indignant.
The S.H.I.E.L.D. Director came here just for Spike? This isn't them worrying about me at all! They wanted to talk to Spike too!
"You said humans," Nat pointed out. "Does that mean you're not human?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" was Spike's response.
Steve could feel the tension between the two. He knew he had to defuse it before a full-blown fight erupted. Luckily for him, Director Fury decided it was the perfect opportunity for him to make an appearance and introduce himself to the vampire.
(O.O)
Buffy was grateful that all went well with Riley. She was so glad that she was able to find him in time before he died from the drugs the Initiative gave him. Of course, she would've found him sooner had a certain peroxide-haired vampire didn't decide to make himself scarce for the evening.
If Buffy wasn't worried about Riley, she would've taken the time to really think about Spike and where he ran off to. The vampire was known for his penchant for causing trouble wherever he went. It was just in his nature. The fact that he hadn't made an appearance at all even with the information that there was an Initiative doctor in town that could've removed his chip, should've warranted suspicion from the Slayer.
However, Buffy's mind was elsewhere and the vampire was left alone, free to do whatever he wanted.
