I am sorry for spamming everyone with my stories lately, but I am kind of posting things early since I'll be going on a week-long vacation with the fam. We need it after what happened to us a few months back with the kids. Anyway, please enjoy the update. Warning to all those Angel-fans (if there are any reading this fic) though this fic features heavy bashing of this character. Sorry, not sorry.
(O.O)
Angel was disappointed in Cordelia for not telling him sooner about the death of Buffy's mother.
One month.
His assistant took an entire month to inform him that Buffy lost her mother. He should've been there for her and yet he was only hearing about it now.
Since he couldn't erase Cordy's mistake, he decided to make up to Buffy for missing the funeral by taking a weekend off from his PI work to visit Sunnydale.
He told his crew of his plans and packed a couple of his nice shirts for the trip. He was planning to take his Slayer out for dinner and give her some time off from her house, where she was constantly reminded of her mother, and her little sister, who he knew she would've been stuck watching over.
It was a time off that he knew his Slayer needed and would help him get on her good side for missing her mother's funeral.
He arrived at Revello Drive and felt nervous.
He knew he should've called beforehand but he wanted this to be a surprise.
So, he took one unnecessary breath before he picked up the bouquet he bought, got out of his car, and walked towards the house.
As he neared the entrance, he heard laughter from inside and could hear several heartbeats.
Shit, the Scoobies were there, he thought.
It would be a problem since they would probably not let Buffy go out with him that night.
Fortunately, he knew his Slayer and he knew that if he batted his eyes right and gave her his signature puppy dog look, she'd tell them off and would gladly join him for dinner.
He knocked on the door. It took a minute before someone answered.
"Can I help you?" An unfamiliar-looking man, who answered, questioned him.
He was startled. He didn't know this person and he always tried to keep up with the people in Buffy's life.
"Uh-is Buffy around?" He asked.
"She went out to buy Chinese for dinner," the man answered.
"Um-can I come in and wait for her inside?" Angel asked.
"Yeah," the man said, stepping aside to let him through.
Angel tried to come in but an invisible force stopped him before he could enter the threshold of the house.
Buffy removed my invite? He asked in panic.
"What's wrong?" The man asked with a frown.
"I-um, I need you to invite me in," he said.
He saw the man's demeanor change. His shoulders tensed and his eyes narrowed on him.
"You can't come in without an invite?" He asked.
With that question, Angel immediately knew that this person wasn't unaware of the existence of demons.
Before the other person misunderstood him, he explained his situation.
"I'm a vampire but I'm not here to hurt Buffy."
The other crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, really?"
"Really. Please just call any of her friends inside and they'll vouch for me."
"Steve, what's taking so long? It's your turn and Anya's getting-what the heck are you doing here?" Dawn asked from behind the man.
Angel smiled and gave a small wave to the annoying teen. She never liked him but he knew if he wanted Buffy to still love him, he needed to be civil to the brat.
"Hi, Dawn. I'm here to see Buffy," he told her.
The teen glared at him. "She doesn't want to see you."
Angel sighed. He wished it was Willow who answered the door because he really didn't want to handle the pesky little kid.
"Dawn, I heard what happened to your mother. I'm just here to see if Buffy's doing alright."
"Wow, it took you one month to check up on my sister?" she pointed out, "and also, you do know she was my mother too, right? So you're not even going to ask me if I'm doing alright?"
He resisted the urge to simply snap at the disrespectful teen.
"I'm sorry, Dawn, how are you doing?"
She huffed. "Fine. Buffy too, so you can go back to LA and leave us alone because we don't need you."
He held back a growl. She was really getting to him. He turned to the man beside her and he saw that he was scowling at him and just waiting for him to slip up and attack the brat.
But he was better than that. He wouldn't give the cheeky girl the chance to get back at him by putting him in a bad spot with his Slayer.
He took a deep, calming breath.
"Dawn, I understand that you don't like me-"
"Understatement of the freakin' century," she rolled her eyes.
"But I would like to think that we can temporarily settle our differences for your sister. She just lost her mother after all."
She raised an eyebrow at him. "Uh, hello? I lost my mother too. I don't see you going out of your way to visit and get me flowers, not that I want them."
He sighed again. "Dawn, please. I just want to come inside and wait for Buffy there."
"For the last time, Buffy doesn't want to see you and you're not welcome in our house, so get the hell out of here because we don't want you."
The last of his patience ran out and he stepped towards the teen aggressively to try and intimidate her. Or at least he tried to step toward her. The invisible shield around the house was still stopping his entry.
"I think you heard the girl, sir," the man, Steve, said, stepping protectively in front of Dawn. "You're not welcome and we are asking you politely to leave."
Angel turned to Steve and said, "Look, she doesn't know what she's saying. I know her sister and I know she needs me. If you can call someone else from inside, Willow perhaps? Then she'll tell you all about me."
"Oh, I know all about you, Mr. Angelus," Steve said, his arms still crossed and his glare never easing.
His eyes widened. This man knew him!
He recovered from his shock before correcting the other. "It's Angel, actually."
"Angelus, Angel, you're still the vampire who broke Buffy's heart and traumatized her to the extent that she nearly didn't recognize what true love is."
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me. Look, I don't know what selfish reason you have that made you think that you could just waltz into her home, demanding to see her but you've been told more than once that you're not welcome here. So, unless you want me to call the cops on you-"
"I'm a vampire-"
"And I don't care. I'm not allowed to dust you, however, I know you don't kill people so the police can handle you. Also, I think a night in a jail cell may do wonders to your personality."
"You tell him, Steve!" Dawn added from behind.
He wanted to argue but he recognized a losing battle when he saw one. And so, he walked back to his car. He could hear Dawn cheering from behind him but choose to ignore it.
They may have won this round but once Buffy saw him and he told her what those two did to him, they would definitely get an earful from his Slayer.
He got in his car and decided to drive around the block. He may not be welcome in her home, but nothing will stop him from waiting for his Slayer so he could see her and take her out for dinner.
(O.O)
Buffy was having a really lovely evening.
She arranged a small gathering at her home to celebrate the fact that Steve had finally finished moving his stuff into his new apartment and was now officially a resident of Sunnydale. Normally, such celebrations were done at the moving party's place, however, Steve hadn't unpacked yet, so Buffy volunteered to do the celebration at her house. Her friends brought snacks and drinks, and they spent the afternoon talking, watching movies, and playing board games. By six, everyone wanted to get food from the local Chinese Restaurant, Chow-Mei's.
Since the restaurant didn't have a delivery service, Spike and Buffy volunteered to get the food.
As they walked towards the restaurant, Spike held her hand, which she always loved doing, and when she felt cold, her boyfriend, being the gentleman that he was, lent her his signature black coat.
Buffy loved how the coat wrapped around her body and how it smelled so much like Spike.
They arrived at Chow-Mei's and made their order but were asked to wait a few more minutes so they could prepare it.
The couple decided to wait outside, and Buffy was surprised to see that there was a street singer performing just beside the restaurant, those types of performances that were rare in a small town like theirs.
Buffy stared at the young man with his guitar and listened. He had a nice voice but it wasn't gaining that much attention from the crowd and she felt sorry for him. She made a comment about it to Spike and then he surprised her by walking towards the man and whispering something to him.
She was then given the performance of a lifetime.
The young man began strumming familiar chords of "That's what makes you Beautiful" with his guitar, while her vampire clapped his hands to the beat before he started singing the song.
At first, she was embarrassed because he kept staring at her as he worded the lyrics of the song, however as it progressed and Buffy noticed more and more people gathering around the two performers, she couldn't help but pull out her phone to record this precious moment of her lover serenading her while helping a struggling musician get more people to listen to his performance.
She smiled happily. Spike always did these sweet things and it never failed to make the have butterflies in her stomach flutter.
She was falling for him.
She continued to listen to the two, and surprisingly they sounded good together and were in perfect harmony as they sang the song. Buffy blushed when Spike winked at her as he sang the last part of the song.
Baby, you light up my world like nobody else
The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed
But when you smile at the ground, it ain't hard to tell
You don't know, oh-oh
You don't know you're beautiful
If only you saw what I can see
You'll understand why I want you so desperately
Right now I'm lookin' at you, and I can't believe
You don't know, oh-oh
You don't know you're beautiful, oh-oh
You don't know you're beautiful, oh-oh
That's what makes you beautiful
A loud round of applause was heard from the crowd of onlookers, some even dropped wads of cash into the young man's guitar case to show their appreciation for the performance. The two performers did a couple more songs and some requests from the crowd before the young man announced that it was the last performance for the night.
After the crowd left, Buffy approached the two of them and hugged her vampire.
"Thanks a lot, man," the young man told Spike before offering to give her vampire some portion of the money he got.
"Keep it, mate. You can use my share and get a room at a motel. It's dangerous to stay outdoors in this town," Spike said with a pointed look.
The young man seemed to understand his meaning and agreed, before thanking Spike.
"Don't mention it, mate. Just wanted to show my girl some appreciation. You did me a favor by giving me the opportunity to do so."
The street performer thanked them one last time before he went on his way. The couple went back inside the restaurant to pick up their order and then left for home.
They were holding hands again as they walked back home and Buffy complimented her boyfriend for his singing and first song choice.
"Blame your sister. Bit listened to that band every time I babysit her," he explained when she asked him how he knew the song.
"I'm more surprised you memorized the lyrics in the first place."
"They're not The Ramones but they're not that bad, which is expected, since they hail from merry old England."
Buffy giggled. Her boyfriend just complimented a boy band! She was totally writing that in her diary and teasing him about it later.
As they were nearing her house, Buffy stopped as she felt a familiar tingle at the back of her neck.
She recognized that vampire signature.
She turned around, just in time to see Angel get out of his car, glaring at them.
"Angel," she whispered.
"Buffy," he greeted her, but his eyes were staring at her and Spike's intertwined hands. "How are you?"
She was annoyed at the disgusted look he directed at her.
"Good!" she exclaimed, holding her boyfriend's hand tighter. "Things have been doing great, Hellmouth standards, that is."
"Nothing unusual happened to you?" He gave their locked hands another look.
She was getting pissed at his judgmental stares. Did he just come here to comment on my new relationship with Spike?
"What are you doing here, Angel?" She asked, ignoring his question and going straight to the point.
The souled vampire looked taken aback at her hostile tone but quickly recovered to answer her question.
"I came to see you. I heard about Joyce," he said, sounding sympathetic. "I'm sorry for your loss."
Spike snorted beside her. "Riiight. You're sorry, alright. So sorry that it took you a month to get here and give your condolences to the Slayer."
Angel turned to her boyfriend and glared at him. "Shut up, Spike."
That was enough to raise her hackles. How dare he talk to her boyfriend like that?!
"Okay, thank you, Angel," she said coldly, cutting off any comeback Spike might've said to him. "Is there anything else you wanted? I mean, you could've just called to tell me this."
She could see him visibly flinch back by her cold behavior. However, she couldn't find it in her to care. He came out of the blue and she got the feeling he was going to ruin her party plans with her friends.
He scratched his head and eyed her companion. "I was hoping to talk to you in private as well."
She felt Spike clutch her hand tighter and she turned to look at him. "Yeah, well tough. Slayer's busy and we have plans to-"
"Spike," she called him. Her vampire turned to her, "can you go ahead without me? I don't want our food to get cold. Don't worry, I'll follow you as soon as I'm done with this."
She could see her boyfriend's betrayed look in his expressive eyes and she cursed herself for being an idiot. Of course, he would think that she wanted him gone so she could spend time with Angel.
But that wasn't the case at all. She just wanted him gone so she could tell her ex-boyfriend to leave her town like he told her a year ago when she came to LA for Faith.
"You heard the girl, boy. Go ahead so the food won't get cold." She could hear the smugness in Angel's voice.
This irked Buffy.
So as payback, she pulled her boyfriend's shirt towards her and gave him a passionate kiss on the lips. In front of her stupid ex!
This shut Angel up, but she didn't turn to look at the horrified expression on his face. Instead, she focused on the amazing kiss she was getting from her very talented boyfriend.
Unfortunately, the kiss had to end, but she could see the smirk on her vampire's face and was certain that she was able to alleviate whatever doubt he had of her, which was her plan in the first place.
"Please go ahead, baby. I'm just gonna talk to Angel. I'll follow you as soon as I can," she whispered to him.
Spike smiled before taking the food bags from her hand and walking away in the direction of her house.
Once Spike was far enough down the street, she turned to her ex and crossed her arms before sending him the nastiest glare she could muster.
"Well? We're alone now. What did you want to talk about?"
However, Angel just stared at her as if she gained another head. "You-"
"Me?"
"You're dating Spike!" He blurted out with a yell.
She raised her eyebrows. "Gee, I wonder what gave it away. The fact, we were holding hands, or that I'm wearing his favorite coat. Or was it the kiss we just shared?"
He didn't answer. He was too busy gaping at her like a fish.
"It was the kiss, wasn't it? I mean, you were always a bit slow on the uptake when it came to dati-"
"You're dating Spike," he repeated.
"Yes. I thought we established that."
"Buffy! How could you?!"
"Excuse me?"
"He's a soulless vampire and a remorseless killer. How could you lower yourself for the likes of Spike?"
"WHAT?!"
Okay, she was getting angry now. How dare he insult her man?!
"It's a spell, isn't it? Some sort of mishap that is causing you to think you like Spike?" He put his hands on her shoulders. "Don't worry, Buffy, I'll save you from this. Then I'll take care of Spike once and for all. Once he's dust, all you have to do is forget about this disgusting moment in your life."
Oh, that was the last straw.
She shrugged his hands off her shoulders before sending a powerful punch on his nose.
"Ow!" He cried as he clenched his already bleeding nose.
What a baby. I didn't hit him that hard, she thought as she watched Angel give her a disbelieving look.
"You hit me."
Buffy once again crossed her arms in front of her. "Yeah, and you deserved it for talking shit about my boyfriend."
"Buffy!"
"Shut up, Angel," she said, repeating the words he said to Spike earlier. "If you only came here to criticize my relationship status then I don't want to hear it."
"But-"
"Shush. Zip. It. You had your chance to talk and you said nothing good. Now it's my turn."
It seemed that she finally got through to him because he shut up.
"First, let me just say that I am not under any spell. You can ask any one of the Scoobies or Giles or any mystic you know. There is no spell on me that is compelling me to date Spike. I am dating him because I like him."
"Wha-"
"NO! I'm still talking and if you open that mouth one more time, you will get more than a broken nose. If you want to follow in Riley's footsteps and get a broken jaw as well, then please be my guest and open that trap of yours. Otherwise, shut it."
She paused to see how he would react. She wasn't kidding. She would break his jaw if he talked again.
When he remained silent, she continued. "Second, regardless of what I have with Spike, you don't get a say in it. So how dare you insult me, Spike, and what we have. You're not my brother, or father, or even my boyfriend. You're just a guy I dated back in high school and you weren't even that much of a good boyfriend, considering how you tried to kill me and my friends."
"That was Angelus!"
She delivered a right hook that hit his jaw. It wasn't hard enough to break the bone, but it was enough to send him sprawling to the ground.
"Didn't I tell you to shut up? The next one will be aimed at your family jewels."
She saw his hand cover his privates in fear of her threat.
"Now, as I was saying, you are nothing to me, Angel. We're not even what you would call friends. I loved you back then, and now I don't. So, you don't get to tell me what I can and can't do. You hear me?"
He nodded.
"Good. And lastly, if you want to pay me a visit, call first. I gave Cordy my number, so you use it before you come into my town and try to get involved in my life. You left, so stay gone until you have a really good reason to see me."
With that, Buffy stomped away, leaving the souled vampire injured and bewildered.
She was a few feet away from him, but she stopped.
"Oh, and one more thing!" She said before turning back to the now standing Angel. "Spike. Don't go anywhere near him. I'm very protective of what's mine and he's very important to me."
This time the vampire looked really hurt. "You love him."
It wasn't a question.
"Don't know yet. What we have is still so new. But he's in my heart and I don't want anything happening to him."
And with that, she left to see her vampire.
Buffy was a few meters away from Angel when she felt another familiar presence behind a tree, ahead of her. This time she smiled.
"I thought I told you to go ahead," she said as she neared the tree.
"Well, I was going to do that, but I didn't want to leave you alone with that bastard," Spike said with a sheepish smile that turned into a proud smirk. "But I'm glad I didn't. Loved that punch, pet. You sure showed him who's boss."
Buffy grinned in return. "He was being a big poophead. And a big baby. I mean, I didn't even hit him that hard."
"Angelus was never known for being able to handle pain. He relishes in inflicting it, but not the other way around."
She took hold of his hand again. "I don't want to talk about him anymore. I'd rather focus on spending the rest of the evening with my friends and family as well as my boyfriend."
Spike smiled. "Well, your wish is my command, Slayer."
And the two went home.
(O.O)
Two days after the party at Buffy's house, Steve decided to host another celebration, this time at his new place since he finished cleaning up the place. He invited the Scoobies over as well as two other friends from S.H.I.E.L.D., Nat and Barton.
He prepared food and drinks and asked Dawn and Spike to help him plan for the entertainment for the evening.
His friends arrived around seven and all complimented him on his new place.
"It looks homier than your room at the tower," Natasha said as she handed him a rustic lamp as a housewarming gift.
"Thanks. Spike and Buffy helped pick some of the stuff here," he said, eying the comfy couch that Clint was falling in love with.
He smiled as he stared at his new home. It wasn't like the one he used to have back in Boston. No, it was twice as big and he had Spike to thank for that.
His friend really helped him find this place. He set him up with his demonic contacts and was able to get him the big studio apartment at a reasonable price. His place had an upper level, which he used as his bedroom, a small kitchen, complete with a fully functioning oven stove, fridge, and a dishwasher! The lower level was spacious enough for him to put a TV and three couches for when he entertained guests, like today. But that wasn't the best part of his house. No, it was the little storage room beside his kitchen that was the highlight of his home.
"So, where is it?" Clint asked from his place on the couch.
"Where's what?"
"The magical door that you asked S.H.I.E.L.D. to get for you. Ever since I heard from Nat that you asked Fury to pay for it, I wanted to see if it's real or not."
"Wait, what magical door?" Buffy piped up from her place on the couch.
Natasha smirked before answering, "A couple of weeks ago, Steve sent a request to S.H.I.E.L.D., asking for fundings to purchase a special device that would allow him to travel from Sunnydale to anywhere in the world. In the request form, he stated that since S.H.I.E.L.D. wanted him to continue working for them, this device would make it more convenient for the Captain to travel back and forth between the headquarters and Sunnydale."
"Wow, that sounds like a really amazing device," Willow added.
Nat nodded. "It is, but it was very expensive and Fury had doubts about it, so he called Cap to his office."
"And?" Xander asked in anticipation. He was still in awe by the fact that he was in the same room as two other Avengers, but now he was getting a story about Fury too.
He was excited to hear how Captain America handled the infamous S.H.I.E.L.D. director and if you ask how he knows the man, let's just say that when he turned into a military man on Halloween a few years back, he got more than just combat and weapons expertise in his memories. He also got information on the existence of S.H.I.E.L.D. and other similar organizations.
It was this knowledge that made it easier for him to get military-sanctioned weapons on the fly, even though he was not affiliated to the military nor did he have papers to show. This insider knowledge gave him an edge and made his lies believable whenever his friends wanted him to get weapons for the group.
But hearing stories about these people who he only learned via magical means made them real and it was all exciting for the young man.
"So, I went to Fury's office and talked to him. I informed him of the port door that Spike told me about and explained how it worked," Steve said. "I've got to hand it to the director, he didn't even blink when I told him about it. Instead, he just asked if S.H.I.E.L.D. could also utilize the door. Of course, I said yes, as long as I was informed on how it would be used, I wouldn't mind. Plus, it will give me a heads up in case I get unexpected visitors."
"So you have this door in your apartment?" Giles asked.
Steve looked proud as he walked to the storage closet and pointed it to everyone.
"It's right here."
"That one? That's a device that can take you anywhere? I've been there earlier. It's just a storage closet," Buffy said.
Spike smirked. "Just show them how it works already, mate. The suspense is killing everyone."
Steve chuckled at his friend's eagerness. He was a bit giddy about it as well. He tested it several times when the witches first installed it and it did work. And now he was excited to see everyone's reactions as well.
He pulled an old-looking key from his pocket, inserted it into the keyhole, and turned to his guests. "You guys want to visit my room in the tower?"
He turned the key and opened the door.
Instead of a storage closet, what everyone saw was a room with a big glass window overlooking New York.
"Holy shit! It does work!" Clint exclaimed as he approached the closet along with everyone.
"So, you can just use it to teleport anywhere?" Xander asked as he stared at the view. Just beyond this door was another part of the country.
"Yeah. But only to places I've already been and had used this key on," Steve explained as he nodded to the key in his hand. "This is the true source of the magic. As long as I have this key and insert it into a door keyhole, it will link to this door and I can use it to transport me to that location."
"That's quite a complex instrument," Giles commented. "How did you get such an object?"
This time, Spike took over and explained to everyone the process of acquiring such a device. He told them that there was a coven of witches, who, at the right price, would provide many types of mystical items for selected people they trusted. The vampire told the story of how he earned their trust by saving one of their members back in the sixties and since then they assisted him, so long as none of them got killed while helping him.
"A coven?" Willow asked, eyes shining at this new information. "There's a coven here in Sunnydale?"
Giles cleaned his glasses. "Yes, there is. They are quite powerful as well. However, they are very wary of outsiders and they rarely let anyone know their exact location, so it's quite a feat to be welcomed by them and get their support," he said while eyeing Spike with an impressed look.
"Does that mean you can't introduce us to them?" Tara asked, looking disheartened.
Steve saw that the two witches were really disappointed that they wouldn't get a chance to meet other witches, so he gave his friend a pointed look.
Spike seemed to get his message and promised the two women a chance to meet up with some members of the coven.
"Just a fair warning, not all members of the coven are of the human variety," his friend said but the two women didn't mind this and instead chatted up with the vampire further about the coven.
After the revelation of his magic door, the party moved on as modern music resounded around his place, his guests all chatted with one another.
Nat and Buffy seemed to form a strange kinship and were busy talking about the best way to kill people. Or monsters, in Buffy's case.
Clint was with Willow, Tara, and Giles, and all four were busy listening to Spike's story about the coven and other magical things that they made for him over the years. It seemed Hawkeye was really enjoying himself with the knowledge that magic was real.
Meanwhile, Steve was busy with Xander and Dawn, who wanted to see his shield for some reason. After telling them stories about how he used it in fights and posing for pictures with them, Spike approached Steve.
"Mate, I'm going out to take a fag, want me to get anything for you?"
"Can you get more beer? I don't think I have enough."
His friend nodded before leaving the apartment.
(O.O)
Buffy was panting and smiling so brightly.
She just played Dance Central 3 against Natasha Romanov, aka Black Widow, on Steve's Xbox, which she was certain he only purchased because of Dawn and Spike. The red-haired Avenger was amazing. Despite being a super spy, she was an excellent dancer. She was able to bust some moves against Buffy, who had gymnastics, cheerleading, and ice skating under her belt. They played at least three rounds until both finally agreed that they were on par with each other in terms of dancing because they both got perfect scores in the game.
The game's results made Buffy wonder if Natasha was interested in sparring with her just to find out if the spy was also on equal terms with her Slayer strength.
She took a step back and let the others play the game and cheered along with the rest of her friends.
This was a good party, she thought as she checked everyone's expressions.
Despite her friends just being recently acquainted with Steve's friends, they all were now laughing and enjoying each other's company. It made Buffy even happier to see the carefree face of her sister as she interacted with everyone.
It took a while, but Buffy and Dawn were now able to enjoy life again, despite losing their mother. They were past the stage where they cried at every reminder of their mom. Now, they simply smiled at their mother's memory and honored her by being living happily, just as she would've wanted them to.
She truly owed it to her friends for making things easy for them but she especially owed it to her vampire for his help- wait where is Spike?
"Hey, Steve? Where's Spike?"
Steve had a confused look on his face before answering. "He went out for a smoke and to buy more drinks."
He checked his watch and his eyes widened as he realized just how long ago his friend left.
It was almost three hours ago since Spike went out.
He told Buffy this and he could see that she was growing worried. He tried to reassure her and inform her that he was calling his friend's cellphone.
It took almost eight rings before someone picked up the call.
"Hello?" An unknown voice answered.
Steve frowned. "Who's this? Where's Spike?"
Whoever it was that answered seemed to panic at his questions because he could hear them yelling at each other to hang up. Steve heard more voices on the other line before hearing the familiar voice of his friend.
"Glory's men have me!" He heard Spike yell before the sounds of scuffling came through the phone and then the line went off.
Steve turned to face a very concerned Buffy and could see that the rest of his guests were now all looking at him. They must've heard him yelling.
He didn't want to bear the news that the party was over, but his friend's safety took precedence in this situation, so he told his guests what he thought happened to Spike.
"Glory has Spike," he said grimly.

Well, Angel deserved it for being an ass in this chapter. And for those who think Spike would never sing the song above, well, you won't change my mind on this. He has a sweet, sensitive side and he isn't afraid to flaunt it for the woman he loves. Also, Dawn is a bad influence on him, so there's also that. Hehehe. Anyway, thanks for reading! See you in the next chapter!
