POV - Lizzie
Come to think of it, this suspension wasn't bad at all. Unlike Josie, I didn't really care about classes and stuff. Mom and Dad were the directors, so it was kind of impossible for me to fail completely. Also, whenever I needed it, I could necklace from my twin sister. So basically those five days at home turned out to be five days off for me. I was able to meditate, watch novels and shows on Netflix, and I was even able to talk more with my mom, even though it was via video call. Maybe I'll even have to thank Mikaelson for that later. Okay, better not. Definitely better not. I held back a laugh at the thought of it as I watched Dad drive toward the school. Unfortunately today was already Thursday and with that my suspension and Hope's had already ended. It's like they say: Everything good lasts for a short time.
So, soon we arrived at school and after parking the car, Dad wished me and Jo a good class and went to his office. Josie and I were heading towards the classroom, but we ended up finding MG and Kaleb standing in the school hallway. We obviously stopped to chat with them and a few minutes later Hope Mikaelson joined us. She greeted me, MG and Kaleb with a smile and was abused enough to kiss Josie on the cheek right in front of me. I rolled my eyes at her cocky face but decided not to say anything, after all we had made a truce and I had told Josie I was no longer going to oppose her and Hope together. Kaleb and MG looked at us with a confused grimace, but also chose not to say anything. The problem is that Mikaelson literally didn't know when to stop and a few moments later she had her arm around Josie's neck, while they both laughed at something we were talking about. The two did indeed look like two gays in love and it would be cute if Josie weren't my sister. But before I could say anything, Kaleb spoke up:
''What did I miss?'' - He asked, looking from me to Hope.
''Lizzie helped me with Josie at the oldmill party.'' - Hope replied immediately.
''So what? Are you friends now?'' - MG asked, curious.
''Never!'' - Mikaelson and I responded at the same time, which made MG, Kaleb and Josie laugh.
''Until the two of you respond with sync to those who aren't friends.'' - Kaleb teased, still laughing.
''Don't fill it, Hawkins.'' - I snorted, shrugging.
''But then...'' - MG arched his eyebrows, still waiting for an answer from us.
''Hope and Lizzie made a truce.'' - Josie answered for us.
''Does that mean you won't punch Mikaelson in the nose anymore, Saltzman?'' - Kaleb looked at me with a teasing smirk.
''I hope not.'' - Hope joined in, laughing.
''Oh, that depends.'' - I said with a sarcastic smile. - ''If she and Josie continue to rub in front of me, my hand may find Hope's nose involuntarily.'' - I threatened, like someone who doesn't want anything.
''What violence, sister-in-law.'' - Hope returned with irony, which made me slap her lightly on the head. How dare she call me 'sister-in-law'? - ''Josie, look at your sister.'' - She complained with a pout.
''Lizzie, don't hit her.'' - Josie defended her and I rolled my eyes.
''It's not my fault if your girlfriend is insufferable.'' - I snapped and at the same moment Hope removed her hand from around my sister's neck, while Josie's cheeks turned red.
''Lizzie.'' - Josie looked at me sheepishly and I shrugged.
What did I say too much?
''Are you dating?'' - MG asked excited, looking at Josie and Hope with a smile plastered on his face.
Oh, I deserve it. That traitor was clearly a hosie shipper. Of course, if I were to be honest, those two actually made a cute couple, but I would never admit it out loud. Josie is my sister and Mikaelson is Mikaelson, right? As much as we made a truce, she will never really stop being a pain in the ass.
''Well, we don't...'' - Josie tried to say something, but ended up stammering, not knowing what to say.
''No MG, we're not dating.'' - Hope completed the sentence for her, looking a little nervous.
''But you two have something, right?'' - It was Kaleb who questioned by raising his eyebrows at them.
''Maybe.'' - Josie replied, a little uncertain.
''Actually, I think we're more like friends with benefits.'' - Hope grimaced as she said this and at the same moment Josie rolled her eyes at her statement.
Yeah, looks like trouble in paradise has finally arrived.
''Friends with benefits? Seriously Mikaelson?'' - I raised my eyebrows at her, but Hope just shot me a look of confusion, clearly not understanding the stupidity of her statement.
''Anyway, what does it matter?'' - Josie looked at us, annoyed. - ''It's just labels.'' - She shrugged as if it didn't matter.
She could fool anyone, but not me. Josie was my twin sister and from her reaction I knew it did matter to her.
''Josie is right.'' - Hope agreed with a crooked smile, still not realizing how angry my sister had been with what she had said.
''Relax, we were just kidding.'' - Kaleb exchanged a look with the MG and they both laughed.
''I know, it's okay.'' - Josie said, but I knew it wasn't okay.
''Anyway...'' - MG stretched, before looking at his wristwatch. - ''It's ten minutes to start the potions class, we better go to our classroom.'' - He commented, looking at us.
''Don't even remind me, man.'' - Kaleb snorted and MG smiled. - ''Potions is the most unbearable class in the world.'' - He complained, running his hand over his face.
''Don't exaggerate.'' - Hope looked at him, laughing. - ''The worst will be having to put up with the history of magic in the second period.'' - She complained, making a face.
''Like you stayed in that class, isn't it Mikaelson?'' - Kaleb teased her with a wry smile.
''Don't fill it, I only skipped this class three or four times.'' - She countered with an innocent smile.
''And still admits!'' - Kaleb shook his head and Hope laughed.
''Shall we go then?'' - MG asked, looking at us.
''Go ahead, I just need to talk to my dad first.'' - I lied and he nodded, turning with Kaleb to go to class. When they had their backs turned, Hope looked at Josie and said:
''You come?'' - She gave my sister a stupidly passionate smile and gave her a hand.
What is Mikaelson's problem? She gives me a 'friends with benefits' and then gives Josie that damn passionate smile? Who can handle it? If she's thinking she can make a fool of my sister, she's so wrong.
''She sees you in class, Mikaelson.'' - I interrupted, before Josie was weak and accepted. - ''Jo also needs to talk to Dad.'' - I lied again and turned to my twin, hoping she wouldn't deny me in front of Hope. Seeing my gaze, Josie frowned but decided not to say anything.
''All right then, see you soon.'' - Hope gave a slight nod and turned to walk away, thankfully not suspecting anything.
''Why you lie?'' - Josie questioned, as soon as we were alone. - ''I don't need to talk to daddy and neither do you, as far as I know.'' - She continued, wanting an explanation from me.
''How why? Will you let Mikaelson treat you like this?'' - I countered, putting my hands on my hips.
''Treat me how?'' - Josie huffed, raising her eyebrows. - ''She did nothing.'' - My sister shrugged as she rolled her eyes.
''In my view, calling you a friend with benefits is definitely something.'' - I looked at her seriously.
''And what do you want me to do?'' - Josie asked, looking at me. - ''I've known Hope for less than a month, I can't expect some kind of commitment from her in such a short time.'' - She explained, letting out a sigh.
In this part, she was right. Mikaelson really had no obligation to assume anything, but Josie was my sister and I knew her well enough to know she expected something more from Hope.
''So you're not even going to tell her how you feel?'' - I looked at her and she shook her head.
''No.'' - Josie replied simply.
''Jo...'' - I insisted and she cut me off.
''I also don't want you to say or insinuate anything about it in front of her.'' - Josie continued and I rolled my eyes. - ''Seriously, Lizzie.'' - She stated seriously and I looked at her for a few seconds, before saying:
''Whatever...'' - I shrugged as if I didn't care about their drama and my sister cracked a smile.
''Thanks for understanding, Lizzie.'' - She thanked me and I nodded. - ''Now let's go, before we really are late for class.'' - Josie warned and I snorted.
''Okay, geek.'' - I teased her and Josie laughed, turning to go to class and being followed by me.
However, during class the only thing I could think about was how I was going to approach Mikaelson to talk about my sister with her. I know I told Josie I wouldn't do this, but I'm Lizzie Saltzman. I don't usually keep what I promise and I know Josie to know that no matter how long Hope wraps her up, she's still never going to say anything. Therefore, I as her only sister had an obligation to help her with that.
So when morning classes finally ended, we all got ready to go to lunch and I knew now was the perfect time to corner Mikaelson. The problem was, she didn't leave Josie's side, literally looking like a pet dog. How was I going to approach her like that? I huffed impatiently and that's when I heard Hope's voice warning her that she was going to the bathroom before going to lunch. Perfect, the time has come. So I pretend to ask one of my classmates something and ask Josie and the boys to go ahead. When my sister and the boys left for lunch, I immediately gathered my things and headed to the bathroom. When I got there, I found Hope looking at herself in the mirror and I cleared my throat loudly for her to pay attention to me.
''We need to talk.'' - I demanded and she turned to look at me.
''Okay...'' - Hope agreed, raising her eyebrows at me.
''What are your intentions with Josie?'' - I questioned at once, crossing my arms over my chest.
''What?'' - Hope looked at me, starting to cough.
''No drama, Mikaelson.'' - I requested, slapping her on the back for her to stop coughing.
''I'm not doing drama, but I don't understand what you mean.'' - She said, as soon as she had composed herself.
''How can you not understand? What the fuck was that about friends with benefits?'' - I asked, rolling my eyes at her.
''That's not what or and Josie are we?'' - She countered and for the second time that day I slapped her on the head. - ''Shit, Lizzie.'' - Hope cursed, taking her own hand to her head. - ''If you hit me again, I swear I'll kick your ass and forget about our truce, even though you're Josie's sister.'' - She threatened and I snorted.
''Spare me your threats, Mikaelson.'' - I scoffed, ignoring her. - ''And focus on what I asked you.'' - I continued and she studied me for a moment, seeming to decide whether to answer my question or not.
''My intentions with Josie are the best, I care about her.'' - Hope finally replied. - ''Really.'' - She assured me and I looked at her.
''I noticed at the party that you care about her.'' - I sighed, looking at her. - ''But I think Josie expected more than just being a friend with benefits.'' - I explained and she grimaced in confusion.
''Did she tell you that?'' - Hope looked at me curiously.
''Not in those words, but she is my twin sister and I know her better than anyone.'' - I said and Hope leaned against the sink counter, getting thoughtful. - ''So...'' - I paused, looking at her from the corner. - ''What are you going to do?'' - I questioned, wanting to resolve this at once.
''It's complicated, Lizzie.'' - Was all Hope replied.
''There's nothing complicated, Mikaelson.'' - I snorted, irritating myself.
''Of course there is.'' - She closed her eyes as she took a deep breath. - ''It's just…'' - Hope opened her eyes slowly and hesitated to speak.
''What's the problem?'' - I looked at her and she pouted.
''It's just that my dad kind of forbade me to date Josie.'' - Hope confessed and I looked at her for a moment, finally deciding to nod my head in understanding.
In fact, I don't even know why it hadn't even crossed my mind before, after all it was Klaus Mikaelson we were talking about. From what I read, he used to put his sister Rebekah in a coffin when she got involved with someone and killed the guys she fell in love with. And I know he's been said to have changed over the past few years, but I think jealous he's always going to be, especially with his only daughter. So this ban is definitely something normal for him. But wait... What about Josie? If he banned dating, how does Hope continue to flirt with her? Is my sister in danger and I don't know?
''Mikaelson, if Klaus forbade you to be with Josie, how...'' - I made a scared face, but Hope interrupted me, understanding my reaction.
''Don't despair, my father just doesn't want me to date her.'' - She explained, looking at me. - ''He didn't forbid me to be with Josie or anything like that.'' - Hope completed and I sighed in relief.
''Oh, thank God.'' - I said, putting my hand on my chest.
''What did you think my dad was going to do?'' - She raised her eyebrows, laughing.
I don't know. Maybe put Josie in a coffin or compel her to be a nun? But obviously that's not what I answered, not least because Klaus Mikaelson was her father. For her, I'm sure he must be a good person and a good father.
''Leave it alone.'' - I looked at her, shrugging. - ''What matters is that you need to tell Josie what you told me.'' - I said seriously.
Josie needed to know so she wouldn't have such high expectations for Hope and I would have played my role as the good sister I know I am.
''I'll talk to her, I promise.'' - Hope promised and I nodded.
''Since I said everything I had to say, I'm going to lunch.'' - I raised my hands in the air and turned to leave.
''Hey Lizzie.'' - Hope called and I turned to look at her. - ''Thank you.'' - She thanked me and I snorted.
''Don't thank me.'' - I said, smiling ironically at her. - ''I only did it for Josie.'' - I raised my eyebrows and she laughed.
''Anyway, thank you sister-in-law.'' - She thanked me again, daring to call me 'sister-in-law' again, just to tease me.
''Go to shit, Mikaelson!'' - I showed her the middle finger and turned to leave the bathroom, being able to hear her laugh as soon as I left.
Hope Mikaelson was an idiot, that's for sure. But as long as Josie is happy, I might even think about putting up with her.
POV - Josie
For the past few days, even though Hope has been suspended, she and I have talked so many times over the video call that I actually thought we had something. Therefore, I confess that I was a little disappointed when she said that we are friends with benefits. I know she didn't mean it, but it still pissed me off to hear it. However, it's not like I could demand anything from her. I've known Hope for less than a month. What did I really expect? That she asked me to date in such a short time? Don't be stupid, Josie Saltzman.
With that, as soon as the morning class was over, Kaleb, MG and I went to lunch, Lizzie stayed behind to ask something to one of our classmates, while Hope said she was going to the bathroom. Upon arriving at the eating area, Jed was already sitting with Alyssa there. Probably the two of them had killed the entire morning to be together. I heard Kaleb teasing them about it and went to get my meal. Ten minutes later Lizzie joined us and five minutes later Hope did too. Lunch was fun and oddly enough, Lizzie didn't even mind Alyssa's presence. Hope and I exchanged a few glances over lunch, but we didn't get to talk. When lunch was over, we went to the bathroom to brush our teeth and then got ready to go to second period classes. The class would now be history of magic. So, we were walking down the hall to head back to the living room, when I felt Hope grabbing my hand and pulling me away.
''Hope, what are you doing?'' - I asked and she ignored my question, continuing to drag me away from the hallway crowded with students. - ''Hope.'' - I insisted and she looked at me, as if asking with her eyes for me to trust her. I snorted but decided to trust her like that. We continued walking and only stopped when she pulled me into a room that had several cleaning things. Shit. It was the janitor's room. What was she wanting? - ''Hope, are you crazy?'' - I questioned, having no idea what she was doing.
''I need to talk to you.'' - She stated, looking anxious.
''Now?'' - I raised my eyebrows and she nodded. - ''It's five minutes until class starts.'' - I explained and she looked at me.
''It's history of magic, Josie, who cares?'' - Hope scoffed and I snorted.
''I care.'' - I returned with a serious expression and she pouted.
''Please.'' - She requested and I bit my lip.
When she made that face and asked please it was hard to resist, but I had to be strong. If we were just friends with benefits, why would she need to talk to me so urgently?
''Can't we talk another time?'' - I looked at her and she shook her head.
''Is important.'' - Hope insisted and I sighed.
''Speak up then.'' - I crossed my arms over my chest and Hope laughed.
''You look beautiful angry.'' - She praised and I rolled my eyes.
''I thought what you had to say was important.'' - I spoke with irony, turning to leave.
''Damn, I'm sorry.'' - I heard Hope's voice and turned to look at her again. - ''I don't know why I do this, but I kind of always end up saying the wrong thing.'' - She tried to explain, sighing.
''How to say that we are friends with benefits?'' - I let go, not holding back.
''I didn't mean it that way.'' - Hope defended herself and I raised my eyebrows at her.
''But you said.'' - I snapped, snorting. - ''Besides...'' - I continued, looking at her. - ''I don't want to be late for class, another time we'll talk about it, okay?'' - I decided, turning to leave again.
''Damn it, Josie, listen to me!'' - Hope huffed, leaning her arm on the wall and preventing me from passing. - ''The only reason we don't have something serious is because my dad forbade me to date you.'' - She confessed and in the same second, I turned to face her.
''What?'' - I blinked a few times, a little stunned by what she said.
What do you mean Klaus Mikaelson forbade Hope to date me? Did he also forbid her from talking to me and she's still talking? If so, I'm being very unfair to her. Damn it, Josie Salztman.
''That's what you heard.'' - She told, leaning her other arm on the wall and leaving me in the middle of her arms, practically pinning me against the wall. - ''But I swear to you that even if we don't have an appointment, that doesn't mean I'll want to be with someone else.'' - Hope said, looking at me with that damn sideways smile.
''You swear?'' - I bit my lip, looking at her mouth.
''I swear.'' - Hope promised, looking me in the eyes. - ''And there's more...'' - She continued, putting her hand on my face. - ''If I had to choose any girl or boy in the world to be with me in this janitor's room right now, I'd choose you.'' - Hope bit her lip as she said this and I let out a sideways laugh. Now she overreacted. - ''Truth.'' - She assured me and I looked back at her. - ''Just you, Josie Saltzman.'' - Hope repeated as she caressed my face.
Why did Hope Mikaelson have to be like this? If what she wants is to make me fall completely in love with her, she's definitely getting it.
''Hope...'' - I whispered her name, getting nervous by the intensity with which she was looking at me.
She, however, just bit her lip and stared at my mouth for half a second, before brusquely pressing her lips against mine. The kiss was so desperate that it felt like all she wanted was to prove her words were true. But she didn't need to prove it... I believed her. So, I closed my eyes and deepened the kiss even more, putting my arms around her neck. We kissed for a minute or two and soon I started to feel very hot, after all the janitor's room was literally tiny. Hope apparently felt the same, because at the same moment she ended the kiss with a lingering peck and took a step back to look at me.
''This room is too small.'' - She commented breathlessly and that's when I noticed her eyes were golden. It was the first time I saw her eyes in this color.
''Hope, your eyes are golden.'' - I watched with a smile on my face.
The truth is, she was even prettier that way, even though I find her blue eyes totally captivating.
''I am really sorry.'' - She closed her eyes and lowered her head, probably wanting her eyes to go back to normal.
''Hey, you don't need to apologize.'' - Smiles, pulling her face up. - ''I thought the color of your eyes was beautiful like that.'' - I confessed and I saw her breathing several times, before starting to open her eyes slowly.
Now her eyes were back to normal.
''Have my eyes returned to normal?'' - Hope asked and I nodded. - ''I'm sorry about that.'' - She apologized again unnecessarily, but I didn't interrupt her. - ''It's just that I activated my wolf curse a little while ago and when I get really nervous, I still can't control myself very well.'' - Hope explained and a smile formed on my lips.
''Does that mean I made you nervous, Hope Mikaelson?'' - I teased, looking at her.
''Like hell!'' - She replied, laughing. - ''Look…'' - Hope took my hand gently and guided it to her chest, exactly where her heart was. It really was accelerating and was beating so fast it felt like it was going to come out of her. Not that mine was any different. - ''I don't think I've ever felt that way.'' - She bit her lip and a blush invaded my cheeks, but before she realized that I had blushed, I took my hand off her chest and looked to the side, trying to change the subject:
''If your father does not want us to date, does that mean that he also forbade you to talk to me?'' - I questioned and she shook her head.
''No way.'' - Hope replied, immediately. - ''The problem is not with you, the problem is that my dad thinks I'm still too young to date.'' - She rolled her eyes and grimaced.
Well... In my opinion this was just an excuse for him to have some control over her, but considering his background and what I read in the books about 'The great evil', I would say that Klaus Mikaelson was being quite reasonable. I couldn't pressure Hope about it, but I still wanted to know what we had. Even though I can't call it dating.
''I understand that, but I still don't understand what we have.'' - I looked at her, being sincere. - ''What are we really, Hope?'' - I asked and she thought for a moment, biting her own lip.
''You're the girl I like.'' - She finally replied with a smirk.
Oh shit. With her smiling like that, how was I going to focus to continue our conversation? Focus, Josie.
''Seriously, Hope.'' - I said, doing my best to keep my expression serious.
''But I'm serious.'' - Hope sighed, looking frustrated and I stared at her for a moment, but before I could say anything, she continued: - ''You know what? I don't care what my dad thinks.'' - She continued and I raised my eyebrows at her. - ''If you care so much that we have something, I'll face my dad without thinking twice.'' - Hope completed with a brave look on her face.
''You're kidding, right?'' - I looked at her, feeling my heart speed up.
''Of course not, you know I would never play with that.'' - Hope assured and I looked away.
I couldn't ask Hope for something like that, especially knowing that she'd just gotten into trouble with her parents last weekend because of me. Even though I'd known her for less than a month, I knew that because she was so heart, she also turned out to be a bit reckless. I don't know him that much, but I do know that pushing against Klaus Mikaelson is definitely not a good thing. Besides, Hope has already said that she cares about me and that she likes me, so what more could I ask for?
''Hope, you don't need to do this.'' - I sighed, looking at her. - ''You're right, as long as we're together, it doesn't matter what we are.'' - I decided and she put her hand on my face.
''If you want, I'll do it.'' - She insisted with a serious look. - ''For you.'' - Hope smiled and I gave her a quick peck.
''I already said you don't.'' - I assured her and she pouted. - ''But just so you know...'' - I continued, placing my hand on her face too. - ''I thought it was really cute that you said all these things and I swear I feel the same way.'' - I looked at her and this time it was her cheeks that turned red. - ''Are you embarrassed? Now that's a surprise.'' - I teased, without holding back.
''Shut up.'' - She said, laughing and I raised my eyebrows as if daring her to do that.
In the same second, Hope kissed me, proving she had gotten my message quickly. With that, I gave way to her tongue and it made her stick our bodies even tighter, practically pressing me against the wall. This made me a bit hot again and before things got any hotter I gave her lip a light tug and ended the kiss with a smacked peck.
''Okay...'' - I walked away, moving my hands to her shoulders. - ''Now I think we really need to get back to class.'' - Also because staying in this small janitor's room with Hope was getting more and more difficult.
''Just five more minutes.'' - Hope asked with a dramatic pout.
''None of that, Hope Mikaelson.'' - I laughed, running my finger on the tip of her nose. - ''You already skipped this class too much and I won't be the reason for you to miss this class again.'' - I said seriously and she snorted.
''If you want to go to this stupid class, then go.'' - She crossed her arms, throwing a tantrum. - ''I'll do something else.'' - Hope insisted and I leaned over to say something in her ear.
''If you go to the history of magic class today, I'll give you a kiss for every minute you stay in class.'' - I tried to negotiate and at the same moment her expression changed.
''You promise?'' - An ear to ear smile formed on her face and I nodded. - ''In that case...'' - She paused, taking her cell phone to check the time. - ''If we go back to class now, I'll still have about forty kisses to rescue.'' - She made a thoughtful face and I laughed at her reaction.
''If you keep rolling, you'll get thirty-nine kisses or less.'' - I looked at her, still laughing and she grabbed my hand.
''So what are you waiting for, Josie?'' - She looked at me indignantly and that made me laugh more. - ''Let's go!'' - Hope stated, pulling me out of the janitor's room.
''I am going.'' - I laughed at her enthusiasm and let myself be pulled towards our classroom.
Yeah, coming to think of it, it doesn't really matter what we had, because it was in those moments that I knew we had something much more special. Hope liked me and I liked her, and knowing that was more than enough for me.
POV - Hope
I confess I was relieved to have talked to Josie about what we are. I don't want her to be mad at me and even though we don't date, I really like her. Every word I said to her is true. For her sake, I would even be able to face my father's fury, although I know my mother would most certainly be on my side in this case. That's it. I could ask my mom for help with this. Why didn't I think about it before? That's exactly what I'm going to do. I smirked at having this idea and did my best to try to focus on the class. History of magic sucked, but the good thing was that the teacher never complained about me being late. Luckily, he always ended up accepting any excuses from me.
So the afternoon classes passed and soon it was almost time for my mother to pick me up. But of course I wasn't going to forget what Josie had told me to convince me to go to class and without a doubt I was going to charge. She had promised me that every minute I stayed in history of magic class I was going to get a kiss and by my count, she owed me about thirty-seven kisses. So as soon as class was over, I grabbed her hand without anyone noticing and led her quickly with the intention of taking her to an empty school hallway.
''Hope, what is this?'' - She asked, but I just continued to pull her and only stopped when I found a hallway completely empty.
''You owe me thirty-seven kisses.'' - I covered, leaning her against one of the cabinets.
''Are you really going to charge me for that?'' - Josie laughed and I gave her a peck in response. Of course I was going to charge. - ''Thirty-six.'' - She teased and I snorted.
''I didn't know that peck counted.'' - I complained with a pout.
''Now you know.'' - Josie snapped, leaning over to give me one more peck to lower the count, but I was smarter and threw my head back.
''Since every little kiss counts, I need to enjoy each kiss better.'' - I looked at her with a naughty little smile and she rolled her eyes.
It was so cute when Josie rolled her eyes. I laughed playfully at her reaction and wasting no more time, I kissed her. Probably to tease me, she kept her mouth shut so as not to give way to my tongue, but I didn't give up. I lightly nibbled her lip and slowly she gave way. After she relented, both she and I gave in completely to the kiss. I don't know how long we stayed kissing, I just know it was a long time. In fact, I only stopped kissing when one of us ran out of breath and then we started all over again.
By my count, she only owed me about twenty-five kisses now. With that, I was ready to resume another kiss when I heard a loud throat clearing coming from the back. Instantly, I pulled away from Josie and turned to see my mom and brother standing there watching us. Henrik was clearly trying to hold back his laughter as my mom looked at me with raised eyebrows and almost a smile on her face. I could literally stick my face in a cardboard box right now. What a shame. But I'm still lucky it's not my dad who caught us.
''Sorry to interrupt you.'' - It was Henrik who spoke, before bursting out laughing.
I deserve. It wasn't enough that I had to deal with the embarrassment of being caught kissing Josie by my mom, I still had to deal with this brat laughing in our faces. Who can handle it? The worst is Josie. I haven't looked at her yet, but I'm pretty sure her cheeks are the color of a tomato.
''Honey, how about you wait for us in the car?'' - My mom suggested, probably wanting to spare me and Josie the embarrassment.
''I'd rather wait for Hope, mom.'' - The brat was stubborn and I shot him with my eyes.
''Don't worry, me and your sister soon caught up with you.'' - Mom insisted and he pouted.
''But mommy...'' - He begged and she cut him off.
''Henrik.'' - My mom looked at him so firmly that the brat finally decided to obey, stomping down the hall. - ''I'm sorry he tried to embarrass you, Josie.'' - She apologized as soon as my brother had left our sight.
''I have to apologize, Miss Mikaelson.'' - Josie bit her lip, clearly still dying of embarrassment.
''Please call me Hayley.'' - Mom requested, kindly. - ''And you don't need to apologize, seriously.'' - She continued, making Josie nod shyly. - ''Now you have to.'' - My mother stated, turning to look at me.
''Why?'' - I raised my eyebrows at her, not understanding.
''Like why, Hope?'' - She snapped, putting her hands on her hips. - ''Me and your brother were waiting for you for thirty minutes, until we finally went out to look for you.'' - Mom told me and I put my hand over my mouth to try to hold back the laughter.
I had no idea Josie and I had been kissing for that long.
''I'm sorry, mom.'' - I looked at her, twitching my lips to try not to laugh.
''It's all right.'' - She let out a sigh, shrugging her shoulders. - ''But now we really need to go.'' - Mom looked at me and I nodded. - ''It was nice to see you again, Josie.'' - She smiled at the girl I like and I smirked. At least my mom approved of Josie.
''It was my pleasure, Miss Mika...'' - Josie was going to call my mother Miss Mikaelson again, but she stopped in mid-sentence remembering what she said. - ''Hayley.'' - She finished, making my mother smile.
''Come on, Hope.'' - Mom called and I looked at her.
''Mom, can I say goodbye to Josie before we go?'' - I asked and she looked at me for a moment, probably not believing my poker face, after all I made her wait for thirty minutes and I still had the courage to ask for a little more time with Josie. - ''Yes, but be quick.'' - She authorized and I gestured with my hand for her to turn around and walk away. I know she caught us kissing, but I wasn't going to kiss Josie in front of her if I could help it. Mom rolled her eyes at my order, but she still turned and walked down the hall.
''Shit, that was really embarrassing.'' - Josie blurted out as soon as my mom was out of our sight.
''Don't worry, my mom is cool about it.'' - I said and Josie nodded.
''I noticed, but it's better not to push your luck.'' - She looked at me and I laughed. It is true.
''So see you tomorrow?'' - I smiled, taking her hand.
''See you tomorrow.'' - Josie confirmed and I leaned in to kiss her goodbye. This time, the kiss didn't take long, because I knew I couldn't. When I pulled away, I kissed her hands and turned to walk away. - ''Hope.'' - She called and I looked at her over my shoulder. - ''Now it's only twenty-four to go.'' - Josie warned referring to the number of kisses she still owed me and I smiled back before turning away and finally pulling away from her.
Shit. What was this girl doing to me? I shook my head, trying not to look like a lovesick idiot, and hurried down the school hallway to catch up with my mom. I soon saw her and as soon as I got to her side, I felt a light pinch on my arm.
''Ow mom!'' - I complained about the force of habit because in fact it didn't even hurt.
''That's because you had the nerve to ask me for a few more minutes, especially after making me wait for thirty minutes.'' - She scolded, but she didn't even have an angry face. On the contrary, she was even smiling. - ''But tell me...'' - Mom continued, looking at me sideways. - ''Are you two dating?'' - She asked and I raised my eyebrows at her.
''Mom, you were by my side when dad forbade me to date.'' - I answered as if it were obvious.
''I was, but you don't seem to mind your dad's archaic ban on dating when it comes to Josie.'' - Mom snapped and I looked at her.
''You're angry?'' - I questioned, but deep down I knew she wasn't.
''Of course not, I would never be mad that you are with a girl you like.'' - She replied sincerely. - ''But you need to be careful.'' - Mom warned me and I looked away. - ''If it was your father who had caught you, he would surely have gone mad.'' - She completed, stopping walking and pulling my face so I could look at her.
''Mom, the problem is that when I'm with Josie Saltzman, I just can't think of anything.'' - I tried to explain myself and she looked at me.
''I know, sweetie.'' - Mom sighed, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear.
''You know...'' - I snorted, looking to the side. - ''I just wanted to be with the girl I like without having to worry about what other people will think.'' - I let out a little frustrated. - ''Before it was Lizzie and now it's my dad.'' - I complained while mom caressed my face.
''Baby, you know I don't agree with your father forbidding you to date, especially with a nice girl like Josie.'' - She started and I looked at her. - ''But you need to be patient.'' - Mom asked and I restrained my urge to roll my eyes. - ''Ask Marcel how your dad was with him and with Rebekah, because I can guarantee you that with you, he's even trying to be reasonable.'' - She finished and I laughed without humor.
''If that's reasonable...'' - I scoffed and mom took a deep breath before looking at me.
''Look...'' - My mom took my hands and looked at me. - ''If you promise that you will behave and that includes not doing nonsense because of Josie, I might even try to convince your father to accept this relationship.'' - She spoke and I opened a smile from ear to ear.
''Is it serious, mom?'' - I looked at her excited and she nodded. - ''You are the best mother in the world.'' - I said, throwing myself in her arms and filling her face with kisses. - ''Thank you so much.'' - I thanked her and she laughed.
''Are we agreed then?'' - She asked seriously, as soon as I had walked away from her arms.
''I'll behave like an angel, mom, I promise.'' - I kissed my fingertips as a promise and she smiled.
''I just want to see.'' - She arched her eyebrows and lightly pinched the tip of my nose. - ''But now let's go to the car, because your brother must be dying of boredom.'' - My mother said, turning to walk again.
''Mommy?'' - I called and she looked at me sideways. - ''Just so you know, Josie is not my girlfriend.'' -I counted and she stared at me for a moment, before rolling her eyes and quickening her steps. From her reaction, she possibly didn't believe what I said, especially after catching me and Josie kissing like that. Yeah, I don't blame her.
Even because Josie wasn't my girlfriend… Yet.
