Drake gazed down at the restful face of Bonnie Bennet. They had brought her back to their house for safekeeping. He laid her inside of an enchanted coffin as an extra precaution. He traced his fingers across the pearly white lacquered wood before he shut the coffin.
"Now the only people who can open the coffin are in this room." He states looking up at his sister and Klaus, "Time for the next phase."
Klaus raised his hand holding a phone, "The location of my body." He tossed the phone to Drake, who easily caught it, "Please hurry, I am anxious to get out of this body."
"Consider it done." Drake pocketed the phone, "Play nice while I'm gone." He said, picking up his jacket.
"Question." Katherine chimed, "Why aren't we doing this somewhere else? Elena and whatever friends she has left will try anything to stop us."
"Because we have to. Mystic Falls is the birthplace of the Doppelganger." Klaus answered, "You would've known all the details if the both of you didn't betray me."
Drake scoffed, "Yes, because not wanting to be murdered by a psychopathic hybrid is such an atrocity."
Klaus glared at the twins before he gave them a malicious smile, "Betrayal is the worst kind of crime Dragomir, next to murder I suppose. And you should know that I do indulge in glorious murder after all you saw what I did to your family." Klaus felt a sense of satisfaction seeing the two siblings immediately freeze.
Klaus immediately flew across the room as Drake pinned him to the wall, "Don't forget Klaus, I can still fuse your soul to this body cursing you to a mortal life while I rip your body into a million pieces dooming you to wither and die." Klaus groaned in frustration as he fought against Drake, "Mention my family again and I will see through with my threats."
Dropping Klaus, Drake threw his jacket on and turned to his sister, "Play nice." He ordered before he left the room, "Say high to Jenna for me."
"You look better." Elena commented as she watched the original sitting on the couch.
Elijah's currently sucking the blood out of a blood bag. After finishing the contents of the bag he slowly turned to face Elena. He scanned the doppelganger's face before he replied, "Where did you get the dagger?"
"I'll tell you everything." Replied Elena, "But we need to work together Elijah. I need your word."
"Your ability to make demands has long passed." He replied fiddling with the bag.
"No demands." Elena assured, "But we're offering our help and in return I want yours."
Elijah looked up at the small group before him. Behind Elena stood Caroline, Jeremy and John. He immediately noticed the absence of the Salvatore Brothers, "Not much to offer I see. Why should I even consider this?"
"The same reason you haven't killed us, you need my help to kill Klaus." Elena answered, "And we need you."
He smirked to himself, "Where's the Salvatore brothers?"
"Klaus has them, Bonnie too." Jeremy answered, "Katherine and Tyler are helping him along with a witch."
"Klaus is here?" He sounded alarmed, "And working with Katerina?"
"He's possessing Alaric's body somehow, we think this witch has something to do with it." Elena explained.
"One of his favorite tricks." Muttered the Original, "And this witch, did you see what they looked like?"
"He was a man, around our age, olive skin, black hair." Elena replied before she blinked in bewilderment, "He looked kind of like-"
"You." Elijah finished, "So Dragomir has arrived to aid her."
"Who's Dragomir and why does he look like Elena?" Caroline asked.
"Dragomir Petrova, he is Katerina's brother." He stated, watching the shock settle on their faces, "Twin brother to be precise. He goes by Drake these days."
"But that would make him hundreds of years old." John scoffed, "Witches don't live that long."
The Original twirled the dagger around his fingers, "Dragomir is no regular witch just as he's no regular vampire."
Elena took in what he was saying, "Are you saying that Dragomir is a witch and a vampire?"
"That's impossible." John stated, "All witches lose their magic once they've been turned."
"Yes but somehow he didn't." Elijah replied looking up from the silver dagger, "For some unknown reason when he was turned he retained his ability to use magic. Somehow he fell through a loophole."
"A loophole?" Caroline asked aloud.
"Witches are servants to nature and vampires are a violation to nature; no one can ever be both." Elijah explained, "But somehow Dragomir found an exception to the natural law. You see, before Dragomir was turned he was a special type of witch."
Jeremy "What do you mean a special type of witch?"
"Once in every generation a witch is born without the ability to generate their own magic so they have to draw on other sources of magic. They're called Siphoners." Elijah stood up and walked across the room, "They siphon magic from magical objects, burial sites, even other witches." Elijah poured himself a glass of bourbon and quickly drank it, "It was a spell from a witch that created Vampires and the magic of that spell spreads to each new vampire and Siphoners can draw on the magic that keeps them alive."
"So they have an unlimited supply of magic." John summarized, "As well as the speed and strength of a vampire."
Elijah smirked, "Yes, you could imagine how Klaus reacted."
"He's near." Klaus snarled as he scanned the forest.
Every vampire Klaus had sent after the young Petrova had turned up dead. Each of them had been brought to him in various states of mutilation. Most of them had their heads blown off or their spines ripped out. Klaus appreciated the creativity of some of the kills however each one pulled him further and further away from his quarry.
"We will find him brother." Rebakah assured, "We'll find them both."
"We better for their sake." Klaus looked over her shoulder to glare at their brothers.
Ironically, Rebekah's the only one of his siblings not to fall to the charms of the Petrovas. Elijah and Kol proved too fallible to the twins' affections. Looking back at it now it seemed almost inevitable for Elijah to fall prey to Katerina's charm. Kol however was the big shock, the sheer notion of their youngest brother falling in love seems so foreign that it borders the line of impossible.
"Between the four of us we could conquer a country." Rebekah stated, "Two little newborns won't-"
Rebekah's hands flew to her head as she yelped in pain, "Rebekah!" Kol was the first to her side as she fell to the floor, "Dragomir." He muttered to himself before Elijah's scream.
"He's a quick learner." Klaus commented as he watched Elijah crumble to the floor, "With your instruction I presume."
Kol glared up at his elder brother, "Now is not the time Nik."
"No, I think it is the most opportune moment." Klaus objected, "What else did you teach him?"
"This."
Suddenly Klaus flew into the air before he stopped. The original floated in the air for a second before dozens of branches broke off their trees and flew into his body. Multiple branches punctured his heart before he was unceremoniously dropped to the floor. Kol stood and looked around to see that all of his siblings had been dealt with.
"Impressive, you're truly a prodigy."
Dragomir appeared before the original, "I had a good teacher." He smiled.
Unbeknownst to the two, Elijah remained conscious but unmoving.
Elijah watched in silent amusement as everyone in the room stood shocked at the information.
Elena spoke first, "Wait, you and Klaus are-"
"Brothers, yes."
"And you and your siblings are all originals?" Caroline asked.
"Our father was a wealthy landowner in Eastern Europe. Our mother bore seven children." He replied.
John then said, "So each of you was once human."
"Our whole family was." He answered, "My siblings and I are the oldest vampires on earth. Being the Originals we have the ability to survive things regular vampires can't. Sunlight, fire, wooden steaks and even a werewolf bite."
"If you're all immune then why does Klaus want to break the curse of the sun and moon?" John asked.
Elijah smirked at the memory, "The curse of the sun and moon, it sounds quite poetic doesn't it?"
"Just answer the question." Caroline said.
"The curse of the sun and moon is fake." He finally said before he heard a buzzing, "I believe someone's phone is ringing."
Elena immediately fished her phone out of her pocket and answered, "Jenna. . .what. . .wait don't. . .what. . .I'll be right there." She immediately stood up, "Klaus is at my house, with Jenna. We have to go."
Everyone began to move before Elijah appeared in Elena's way, "I'm afraid that wasn't a part of the agreement."
"She's my family Elijah, please you have to let us go." Elena pleads, "I promise I'll come back."
"Your promises mean nothing to me until you've lived up to them." Elijah replied before he stepped aside.
"Thank you." Elena said before everyone flooded out of the house.
Elijah's gaze trailed after Elena as his thoughts drifted back to an identical face that has lost the innocence that this girl possesses.
'You're meant to catch me!'
He remembered her laughing. A laugh that made his own erupt from his lips.
'But if I catch you the game will be over.'
"Jenna!" Elena exclaimed as she, Jeremy and Caroline burst into the house.
"In here." She replied from the kitchen.
Jeremy began to frantically say, "Jenna please let us explain every-"
His voice suddenly stopped at the scene before him. Jenna's currently tied down to a chair with Alaric, or rather Klaus, standing behind her with a knife to her throat. He wore a malicious smile on his face that Alaric wouldn't even be capable of making.
"Klaus, please let her go. It's me you want." Elena said cautiously, "You don't need to do this."
"On the contrary I believe I need to do this to remind you what's at stake." He replied, "You see I had a sneaking suspicion that you're up to something. Something that might put a damper on my plans." He pressed the knife hard to Jenna's neck releasing a thin stream of blood from her neck.
"Klaus, wait!" Elena exclaimed.
Caroline charged at Klaus only to be pinned against the wall, "Katherine?" She gasped as the brunette raised her by her neck.
"This seems familiar." Katherine commented before snapping Caroline's neck. Dropping the blonde on the floor, she sighed in satisfaction, "However, the outcome is way better this time around."Jenna screamed at the body on the floor. Katherine turned to face Klaus and smiled before she quickly caught a stake flying towards her heart, "John." Grunted Katherine as she saw John through the backdoor and quickly threw the stake into his heart. His body fell on the floor as Katherine smiled, "Done and done."
Jenna gasped at the sight of Katherine before she looked at Elena, "Wait what?"
"Poor thing, her entire world is changing right before her eyes." Klaus gave Jenna a taunting smile before he looked up at Elena, "Whatever you try to do to escape your fate Elena, know that it'll only cause the ones you love to suffer." He pulled the knife away from Jenna's neck and stepped back, "This is your only warning."
With that Katherine grabbed Klaus and the two disappeared.
Drake stepped over the dead bodies of the vampires protecting the box containing Klaus' body. He glanced down at the witch leading, Greta Martin. He let out a laugh, if only her father and brother realized how she turned out. They'd be alive if they weren't so obsessed with finding her.
Looking up he found his target. Approaching the large wooden box he felt a sense of dread. Here is the body of the man who ruined his and Katherine's lives. He waved his hand and the box swung open revealing the empty body.
Approaching the soulless body, he glared up at it before he struck it across the face, "That's for my family, asshole." He snarled before slamming the box shut.
Jenna sat silently on the couch. Her heart's beating a mile a minute and she felt like she was about to lose her breath. She didn't say anything as Caroline and John came back to life or when everyone explained what had just happened. Vampires, witches, werewolves, hunters and doppelgangers it was happening all at once.
She took a deep breath before she finally spoke, "When I was little, your mom used to tell me bedtime stories. Stories about vampires but I. . .I never thought it could be true."
"It is true, Jenna. All of it." Elena said gently, "We tried to keep you out of it, to protect you, but it's all become too much and-"
"Elena, I'm the one who's supposed to protect you and Jeremy." Jenna objected, "This is all. . .I mean. . .why didn't you tell me?" She asked almost desperately.
"I'm sorry." Elena apologized as she sat down next to her and pulled her into a comforting hug. Jeremy sat next to her too and joined in.
Eventually Jenna calmed down enough and went to her room to come down from the shock.
"We need to get back." John said, "The way we can figure out how to beat Klaus, Katherine and Drake is through Elijah."
"Someone has to stay with Jenna." Elena replied.
"I'll stay." Caroline offered, "If they come back I'm the best shot at holding them off."
"Then John needs to stay too." Jeremy said, "He's the only real hunter in town."
John immediately objected, "No, I'm going with you."
"It's fine, John, Elijah wants Klaus dead just as much as we do." Elena replied and quickly added, "And Jenna needs to be protected."
John wanted to argue before he relented, "I hope you're right."
"Me too."
Katherine tapped her foot anxiously as she watched her brother chant the spell. Candles were lit all around the room as well as the fireplace. Klaus, in Alaric's body, stood next to the box containing his real body. There's no turning back now.
Suddenly the flames flared up before immediately dying down. Drake opened his eyes and stood up. Walking back to stand next to his sister he raised his hand towards the box and flicked his wrist. Alaric opened his eyes and briefly looked around in confusion before his gaze landed on Katherine.
"Elena?" Said the man before he fainted.
Drake raised a shaking hand before he waved his hand, opening the box. Out stepped the man of their worst fears and nightmares. He looked down at himself before he looked up and smirked at the twins.
"That's more like it."
