My Fair Candy (2018)

The hot weather was only enhanced by the brilliant sun on a hot July day. The sounds of people chatting and of music from various rides flooded the senses with summer festiveness. Drakken's enthusiastic mood had slightly dwindled after being mistaken for being a part of the summer fair due to the blue color of his skin. He would have liked to be more angry, but as the one's who had been mistaken were children... he had let it go.

He smirked and looked down at his similarly complexioned daughter. She had not let it go and while the parenting side of him told him to discourage unfastening a hose to spray the kids and their parents... the devious side of him had chosen to say nothing. Her hand held his tightly as she pulled him to more games, or rather searching for one in particular. The sound of a childish cackle was an indicator they'd found the one they had been searching for.

Shego stood by a pop shooting game, her hand holding their toddlers hand as they more outgoing daughter clearly won the prize she'd wanted. He looked from where Val still holding his hand sighed to where Athena cackled triumphantly as she now held an extremely large giant naked mole rat plush. He rolled his eyes at the sight before they located Shego's eyes.

"Apparently she is going to place it in a specific window to taunt the Possibles," smiled Shego with slight exhaustion.

"Ron's gonna be so jelly," snickered Athena as she struggled to carry it, "Thanks for helping Mommy!"

Drakken raised a brow at Shego as they walked away.

"They had a few displays glued down... I just loosened a few," she shrugged.

"Mama made a fire," grinned Drake, his hand tightly grasping Shego's.

"Can we get something eat?" asked Val, "I'm hungry."

"Are you sure its not a stomach ache in disguise?" asked Drakken, "You had two slushies taller than you."

"Hey! One was supposed to be mine!" whined Athena as she struggled between them.

"Drew?" asked Shego. He sighed and let go of Val's hand to grab the over-sized hideous plush, "This thing is ridiculous."

"Hey, you wanted to go to the festival," smirked Shego, "I voted we just go to the beach."

"Yes, well, some of our so called friends were supposed to be here," grumbled Drakken, "Last time I invite Duff and Fist to anything social."

"Oh please, you'll invite them to the next event without even a second thought," sighed Shego, "Amy said the kid has chicken pox."

"With Amy, that might be actual chicken's in the pox," muttered Drakken.

The continued conversation was ended by the excited sound of the kids in unison.

"Whoa..."

Drakken followed his children's gaze to what looked like a candy shop on wheels. He blinked at the obscene colors, the spinning giant lollipops on top, and the very long line of patrons eager to reach the goods it held inside.

"I want it!" declared Athena as she pointed to a giant cotton candy flower.

"Look at the watermelon candy crown!" said Val in excitement, "Daddy!"

"Candy!" cheered Drake as he waved at the shop.

"That line is insane," sighed Shego. She raised a brow at Drakken, "Are we seriously going to wait in line for cavities?"

"That's ludicrous, absolutely-" Drakken stopped as he looked at all three children's pouting expression, "...fine."

"Okay, but you're on your own," scoffed Shego, grabbing the plush naked mole rat, "Come on kids, lets go find a spot to sit... its going to be a while."

Drakken sighed and got in line bitterly. He was about to cross his arms when a tiny hand found his and he looked down to see Drake happily standing in line. He was about to insist on him going with his mother and sisters, but he wanted the company.

"Daddy, water ice?" asked Drake as he pointed to a snow cone picture with a watermelon.

"This whole day is going to cost half a stock," sighed Drakken, "Yes, fine, you can have it."

"Candy!" cheered Drake as he waved again.

"Yes, yes... all the candy," smiled Drakken as the line crawled forward faster than he'd expected.

"No... Candy!" Drake's face scrunched up as they reached the order line and he smiled, "Hi!"

Drakken's half smile fell away as a singsong voice responded.

"Hi their cutey!" came an all too familiar voice, "Drakkeykins he's like a little mini you."

Drakken looked up with wide eyes to see the grinning face of Dr. Carmella Sweets as she leaned against the window. Drakken open and closed his mouth as he looked around them and then back at the crazed Candy maven of the past. Drakken cleared his throat.

"Ah, Carmella... long time no see," he said calmly, "Ohm, may a presume this is not a candy shop I should be apart of?"

"Oh no, this is completely legitimate," smiled Carmella, "Candy apparently needs more socializing and an understanding of not getting my personal candy to hand out."

"Hi!" came a little voice as a little girl came into view.

While Shego had informed him that the little girl they'd helped on Halloween was Sweets' no less... seeing them next to each other left little doubt of that fact. Drakken looked around the candy and then towards where patrons eating it looked perfectly content doing so.

"Oh, would you relax," laughed Carmella, "Why on earth would I want to test anything on fair patrons where I live near?"

"This is fair," muttered Drakken, "Fine-"

"Up, please?" asked Drake as he held his hands up.

Drakken sighed and picked up Drake who simply began talking to Candy in sentences that he didn't have the strength to decipher.

"I need a watermelon candy crown, two cotton candy flowers, a watermelon snow-cone, and... actually one of everything on that list... no... two," sighed Drakken as he looked at the list.

"Anything for Shego?" asked Carmella sweetly.

"Well I mean..." Drakken trailed off as he saw a twitch in Carmella's smile, "Ohm, actually hold that thought on the items... I'm going to go double check."

"Hurry back," waved Carmella as Drakken walked to find his family.

What are you insane! It's Sweets!

"Where's the goods?" asked Shego as he moved swiftly towards them.

"I don't think the kids need any cavities... we should go... now," said Drakken. Shego raised a brow, "We can get ice cream."

"How come Drake gets something?" whined Athena. Drakken looked at his son who held a lollipop.

"Candy gave me candy," giggled Drake.

Drakken frantically grabbed the lollipop and chucked it blindly. He looked wide eyed at Shego who looked horrified.

"Come on kids! You heard your Dad. Ice cream, now," said Shego as she practically dragged the girls from where they were sitting.

"Mommy!" whined Athena as she struggled to hold the large plush, "I can't see."

"Drew!" said Shego firmly, and Drakken grabbed the plush as they picked up pace to the exit.

Drakken sipped his morning chocolate milk as he scrolled across his tablet as he waited for the rest of the house to awaken. The sound of the door opening and the unfortunately familiar voice of Ron Stoppable, broke the peaceful silence.

"Morning, D," he said casually as he strolled through the kitchen, "So I was thinking I'd take the kids to the local museum."

"Didn't you have enough of that with the Re-Animator's reign of living fossils- What happened to your face?" asked Drakken as he looked to see a nasty purple swelling on Ron's left side.

"Oh this?" gestured Ron casually, "Got hit by a rogue sucker at the fair this weekend."

Drakken remained silent and nodded.

"It was a good actually, turns out someone was running a mind control candy pop up... everyone turned violant, pure chaos," shrugged Ron as he poured his own glass of chocolate milk, "Had Kim not been determined to find out who threw it, we would have left and not been there to stop it. Some nobody wanna be villains who took their own candy to claim uninvolvement."

Drakken bit his lip.

"Really?" he asked.

"Yeah, some Dane brothers... they've been touring with the fair for a few years... anyway. Museum. Yes? No?" asked Ron, "Jim and Tim are visiting so there going to tag along."

"Mhmm," hummed Drakken as he put his tablet down.

"At first I offered to pay them, but apparently they got jobs and just need experience with handling stressful situations," continued Ron.

Drakken nodded and got up from his spot quickly.

"Yes, sounds great. Have fun," said Drakken as he moved quickly out of the room, "Shego!"

Ron stared after Drakken running up the stairs and shook his head.

"I didn't even get to ask him where they got that giant naked mole rat," grumbled Ron.

Chaos at its Sweetest.

Happy Birthday BCBDrums!
