Rainy Day
It wasn't as if Drakken had planned on getting caught in a rainstorm... or interrupting Shego's weekend away... but he would be lying if he wasn't pleased she'd been willing to ditch Junior on a yacht party just to come pick him up miles away. The downside was... her hoverboard wasn't exactly what he'd expected her to bring... he hadn't asked why she'd not swung by the lair and picked up backup hovercar... regardless of what her answer would be... she was here now.
Here being, both sitting under a tree in a heavy rainstorm that neither the broke down hovercar or her hoverboard could navigate in. He leaned on his knees as the rain became a steady enough pace to make the daylight above the afternoon clouds almost peaceful. He heard Shego sigh and it dawned on him that she's barely said a word to him since she arrived... not even an annoyed lecture or remark on his inability to function a weekend without her.
He'd even readied several remarks to counter what she might throw at him... and nothing.
She'd answered.
He raised his brow as that dawned on him. She hadn't screened his call or texted him back she was busy... she'd answered his call on the second ring, despite the heavy music he'd been hearing in her background. She'd also made remarkable time despite even in his whining, not indicating it was of the essence... he'd been mildly content in the rain if not a little irked he'd been stiffed on a trade prior to his vehicle issues.
"I hope I didn't interrupt your weekend too bad," grumbled Drakken, "If you want to take a longer weekend-"
"It's fine," she cut in.
She was fixated on her boot's water droplets... or rather how she could move them around with the sharp part of her glove.
"Still... I should have inspected the new fuel pump before I left," Drakken sighed.
Shego didn't respond.
"Shego-"
He was cut off again by Shego, but not by words. His eyes shot open as her lips pressed firmly into his. Drakken's curiosity told him to pull away and question her motives... but the other parts of his mind was more focused on the years of suppressing this very instinct to act as she was at the moment. He felt her lips begin to pull back from his, but he pushed forward to keep them connected.
That had clearly been enough incentive in his interest because she sat up and wrapped her arms around his neck. He returned the embracive movement and wrapped his arm around her waist while the other found her midback.
The moment was short and intense, only ending because he couldn't stop the many questions swirling in his head and simply enjoy the moment. He pulled back despite the strong grip she had him wrapped in.
"Why?" was the only question that made it though the haze he was in.
She didn't respond as she seemed to search his eyes as if she was leery of the question. He tightened his grip on her as if to try and convey it wasn't an unwelcome situation. Her eyes tore away from his only to drift off slightly as her hand attempted to smooth his still wet hair in attempt to find her words he was sure... or hoped.
"Why did you call me?" she asked calmly.
"I... I broke down..."
"With the tools to fix it in the trunk," she stated.
"I..." Drakken trailed off.
She was correct that the tools were in the back seat... enough items to patch the hovercar to return to the lair at the very least... and had Shego brought the other hovercar... he would have insisted on doing so... even when she'd first arrived he'd been about to ask her to assist him before she simply went and sat under a tree and he'd followed her.
"When's the last time you've not called me on a vacation or a weekend?" asked Shego again.
"Ohm..." He desperately searched his memory but none came, "I'm sure there's one... "
Drakken wasn't sure where Shego was going, but she'd yet to let go of him or make any motion that she wanted him to release her. If she was looking for an answer to tease him with or poke fun of his incompetency ... he didn't know... The times he could clearly recall calling her, a majority were tedious and unneeded.
I missed her.
It was no deep thought that he enjoyed Shego's company and companionship... even when she was being snarky it was much better company then her not being there. He began to mentally argue with himself and her that she didn't have to come when he did interrupt her...
But she does...
"Did you expect me to interrupt your weekend?" asked Drakken. There was a small smirk pulling at the corner of her mouth.
"Expecting... hoping," she shrugged. Her eyes found his again, "Does that answer your question?"
Drakken's brow furrowed as he didn't think she had... when it clicked.
She misses me?
He felt his shoulder's slump as it was his turn to search her eyes... trying desperately to find a motive other than something so simple... other than the fact that there was a chance that-
His thoughts fell away as her hands moved from around his shoulder's for her slightly damp gloves to rest on either side of his face. There was silence between them as they looked at each other, wordlessly each trying to convey their own meaning.
Whatever was meant or conveyed and if they were on the same page... Drakken accepted. He let the questions still racing in his head fall mute as he kissed her. It wasn't the firm and hasty kiss like moments before, but softer. Her arms melting around him the sound of the rain picked up was the only answer he needed.
