Third Chapter, I don't own anything, and WARNING this chapter will include attempt for non-con, but nothing will come of it, and the nameless idiots get what they deserve. Read at your own risk. I did put in a small insert to warn when the attempt starts, and when it is over for those who need it. As always enjoy the read.
The Next day I woke up a little later than usual, but still was able to wish mom a good day before she headed off to work. I peeked into Michael's room once to see that David in fact stayed true to his promise. My brother Laid on his bed haphazardly, as if he was just tossed on it without a care, but his roaring snores gave away that he was alive and unharmed.
I let him be, assuming he didn't get home that long ago, and went downstairs to find something to do for the day. Grandpa had been locked away in his taxidermy room, probably stuffing another grotesque rodent, I only spotted him throughout the day during his rare trips to grab a snack from his "Special" place in the fridge.
I spent some time with Sam, exploring the house and the grounds around it to find him something to keep busy. Unfortunately, no matter how many cool things we found Sam stayed utterly bored; Nothing seemed to really interest this boy besides superhero comics, and trashy Television.
At one point I caught Sam lingering in the small Pot Garden Grandpa had growing right outside his house, and he hurriedly threw his hands behind his back when I asked what he was doing.
"What is with the people in this house and being silent walkers? It's creepy!" He huffed, pink tinting his cheeks in embarrassment. I only raised an eyebrow and walked up to him, grabbing his arms from behind his back and pulling it out to see what he had.
It was one of the leaves, simply plucked from its stem and rolled up, while in his other hand laid a small match. I couldn't help the laugh that bubbled up when I saw his attempt.
"Sam that isn't even how it works."
He only pouted and whined a childish "I know that", causing my fit of laughter to grow louder, and I had to lay a hand on my stomach trying to will away the cramp that was now forming.
He grew tired of me after that and retired to his bedroom to entertain himself with his comics for a few hours till his humiliation wore off a bit. The rest of the day dragged on rather uneventful, and I took the opportunity to nap for a few hours during the downtime. Partly because of how late I was the night before, but also to prepare for the inevitable long night I will have when I go out again tonight.
By the time I woke again it was getting close to midafternoon, and I was growing excited with the anticipation of getting to see David again. I tried to busy myself to keep time passing, I made a late lunch for Sam and me, Michael still not being up to greet the day. I thought it odd he would need to sleep literally the whole day away, so I checked on him a second time after we ate, but he was still there, snoring away.
Sam and I made a small game out of hiding the more hideous looking stuffed animals we found in the lodge out of sight, and we were currently daring each other to steal one of the double-stuffed Oreos from Grampa's "Old Fart" shelf when the phone rang.
I skipped over to the phone on the wall in the kitchen, "Emerson Residence"
"Hi honey, it's me." Mom's voice rang out through the receiver.
"Hi mom, is everything alright?" I leaned against the counter, lazily moving a single chip that laid on the counter with my finger.
"Oh, everything is fine dear, actually you remember Max? From the Video store I work at?"
I grinned wickedly even though I knew she couldn't see me. "Yeah, I know Max."
"Well, he asked me out on a date, and I would really like to go."
I rolled my eyes at the statement. I knew Max would ask sooner or later, but it seemed ridiculous that she was almost asking if it was alright for her to go.
"That's great mom, he seems like a nice guy, you should go on that date." I encouraged, flicking my eyes over to Sam who was scrunching up his nose in disgust, at the prospect of mom having a love life. He was still such a child.
"Well, I was wondering if you or Michael wouldn't mind staying home with him tonight." I bit my lip, in slight disappointment. Oh yeah, the child will need a babysitter.
"Well, actually I was supposed to meet up with someone tonight as well." I mumbled a little embarrassed, avoiding Sam's now intrigued look.
"Oh, a boy?" I couldn't see her face, but I knew she was grinning on the other end of the receiver.
"Yes, a boy, his name is David." I informed, watching as Sam started making kissy faces at me from the table. When he lifted his arms to his shoulders in a "mock" make-out session, I flicked the single chip at him in protest. I had to stifle my giggle as it surprisingly hit it's mark right in the middle of his forehead.
"Well, that's okay hun, you stayed with Sam all day, I will just ask Michael to watch him, you go on your date." I thanked her, before setting her on hold.
"Hey Sam, can you go into Michael's room and wake him up, mom wants to talk to him."
Sam, still wiping his forehead from the little crumbs the chip left on him, jumped up and trotted towards His brother's bedroom, all too happy to have an excuse to bug his cranky older brother. I decided it was late enough to start getting ready for the boardwalk and made my way to my bedroom.
I briefly contemplated wearing a dress to leave an impression, but decided against it; I was going to be riding on the back of a bike tonight after all. I wouldn't want to give everyone around me an eyeful, nor do I think I could handle sitting that close to him with the skirt of my dress riding up so high to accommodate the bike. My cheeks flushed quickly at the thought before I batted it away.
I settled on a pair of ripped shorts, and a comfy cropped red tank top, that only showed a sliver of skin due to the waist of my shorts being so high. I finished the look with my old banged up sneakers and took out my well-loved leather jacket to put on later. I wanted to meld into the group well, and I felt this look was still simple enough to keep me comfortable, and feeling like myself, but had just a hint of their influence to hopefully put a smile on David's face.
I bounded down the steps, and greeted my brothers in the living room, seeing Sam content in a batman comic, and Michael glowering, slumped in his seat, a scowl on his face. I noticed a little dangly earring in his right ear and wondered when he had gotten that done.
"Morning Sunshine." I mocked with a smile as I passed the boys to head to the kitchen and grab a drink of water.
"What's this about you having a date with David?" I quirked a brow at Michael, looking over my shoulder as I filled my glass with water from the tap.
"What's it to you?"
Michael was my brother, so I get him being a little protective, but it just seemed out of place at this moment. For one, last night he consistently ignored my presence and safety to get closer to Star. It was also his machismo that got us in their Lair last night, giving me the opportunity to get to know the boys. And though they ragged on him most the night, by the end he was "One of Them", so he really didn't need to be so cold towards David anymore.
" You're not seeing him."
"What's your damage Mike?" I set my cup of water on the counter none too gently, and turned to face my whole body towards him.
"Nothing, when did you become a boy crazy ditz?" He crossed his arms again, a snarl on his lips.
"Oh that's rich coming from you!" I shouted storming out of the kitchen and sliding past him to get to the living room and closer to the front door. Michael was on to my intentions in a second, rushing to stand in front of the door so I couldn't get out.
"You're not taking my bike down there"
"I don't need your stupid bike Mike; I have legs, I can walk." I argued, reaching around him to grab the door handle, but he maneuvered his body to deflect the move.
"You're not going to see him, he's trouble."
"And Star isn't!? Mike, you were going to leave me at the Boardwalk all alone last night to go for a ride with her!"
"You almost left Jac alone there?" Sam's voice piped up from his spot on the couch, finally interjecting himself in the fight.
"Piss off Sam, go take your bath." Mike shouted, pointing to the stairs.
"You don't tell me what to do Mike!"
"Upstairs NOW!"
Sam rushed up the stairs this time, chickening out as soon as Mike's voice boomed. He still made a point to stomp his feet as he climbed the stairs though and slammed the bathroom door shut in defiance. I watched his retreating upset form till I heard the 'SLAM', and then faced Mike once again. My brain stuttered for a second, as some signals in my head told me to back away from him. He looked off, His eyes looked lighter than I remember, almost like a yellow? And His face looked ever so slightly contorted in his anger.
My body was screaming at me to run away, but I forced it to stay still, and keep the glare on my face sharp.
"this isn't fair Mike, If mom didn't have you babysitting you'd be spending your time with ALL of them right now. I have just as much right to befriend them as you do."
"What is between David and you is more than just friendly." He spat out the last word, his voice giving off his disgust.
"Once again, and what you have with Star isn't? She is just as questionable, Mike. don't let that Weak helpless Damsel act fool you." I didn't think my words were that scarring to her image, but as soon as it left my mouth, Mike took a quick step towards me, and grabbed my upper arm firmly once again.
This time it felt much stronger than the Hold he had on it last night, his fingers pressing into the muscle hard, and his nails digging into the flesh. "Don't you dare compare her to them." He hissed, his eyes I swore flashed orange for just a second, but it was gone before I could really comprehend it. I reached my hand over to his and tried in vain to pry his fingers out of my skin, tears pricking at the corner of my eyes.
"God damn it Mike, let go! You're hurting me!" Mike came to his senses instantly letting go, and taking a few steps back, stopping when his back hit the door. I also took a few steps away from him, holding my arm and lifting it across to assess the damage. His abnormally long fingernails left claw marks in the soft skin of my arm, just a few specks of blood forming around the shallow wounds and bruising where the pads of his fingers and palm of his hand were gripping.
It hurt like hell, the stinging from the wound made me hiss in pain.
"Jac, I'm sorry, I will grab the peroxide from the cabi-"
"Just leave it Mike, You've done enough." I sniffled out, before running up the stairs. I tripped over the last step in my hurry, but I was able to catch myself before I dropped to the ground. Ignoring the pain, I continued stomping towards my room, slamming the door for good measure.
I jumped into my bed, crossing my arms over my chest, tears now starting to slide down my cheeks. I was crying more so due to the fear and anger I felt towards Mike, than the pain in my arm. I just didn't know what was happening, we used to be so close before we moved here, and now we were constantly at each other's throats.
This was the first time Mike ever got physical with me too. I guess I should be happy he didn't smack me or something, but the bruising and drawing of blood seemed like enough damage to be upset about. And all this just because I said Star was no better than any of the boys! I rolled over on my side and pushed play on my stereo to drown out the noise of the world, closing my eyes and willing myself to relax, and let my nerves settle.
I laid like this long enough to enter a state of only half-consciousness. I was just on the cusp of sleep when I heard Nanook's vicious barking and snarls followed by a crashing sound, then the some tumbling down the stairs. I sat up board-stiff in bed listening to the now eerie silence of the home.
I slowly stood from my bed, and made my way to the door quietly. I wasn't sure exactly what was happening outside the confines of my room, but I did not want to catch any unwanted attention to myself either. I stood in front of my door for a few seconds before cautiously turning the handle and pulling the door open just enough to peek outside. I was met with the mostly inky darkness of the empty hallway.
I saw another glow, besides the one coming from my door, light up another part of the hallway, and Sticking my head out to spot Sam's terrified expression. His hair was soaking wet and his skin still looked damp. Seems like he didn't even take the time to properly dry himself after hearing the noise.
I crept out of my room and met Sam in the hallway, both of us looking down the dimly lit stairs, into the dark foyer downstairs.
"What was that?" Sam whispered, but I only shrugged, I was in my room after all and didn't see what had happened either.
"Mike? You okay?" I called downstairs, but no answer came. I ignored the pounding in my chest and grabbed onto the staircase railing, slowly descending into the darkness. Sam crept down as well, sticking close behind in case we were to meet anything terrifying at the bottom of the steps.
Once we reached the bottom I finally heard thick heaving breathing.
"Michael?"
"Don't turn on the light." Came Michael's soft disembodied voice, he sounded exhausted. Sam, not listening to Mike's request flipped the switch by the end of the steps to light up Michael's hunched over form, cradling his hand. Blood was smeared on his face, hands, and a small pool was forming right before his shaking form.
Sam let out a prepubescent scream of horror.
"What happened Michael?" I asked taking another step towards him, trying to see where the blood could have come from.
"Nanook-"
"What about Nanook! What have you done to him you asshole?!" Sam yelled frantically, cutting off Michael's explanation.
"Nothing! He bit me, this is my blood!" Mike defended, lifting his hand out to show us the large gash on his palm. I got closer and kneeled down in front of Mike, grabbing his wrist gingerly to look at his hand.
"What did you do to him? Why'd he bite you Mike?" Nanook showed back up from another part of the room, standing beside Sam protectively, keeping his eyes on Mike.
"He was protecting you" Mike Whispered, staring off into nothing, he looked to be fighting with himself over something. Protect Sam from Mike? Why would he need to do that? I looked at Mike's face trying to read his expression, as if his eyes would tell me exactly what I need to know.
I heard Sam gasp behind me, and I turned to see what was wrong now. His eyes were firmly glued to something in front of us all.
"Look at your reflection in the mirror Mike!" Michael lifted himself off the floor and turned to face the mirror. I leaned over him to see what Sam was seeing, only to realize the issue as soon as my head peaked around his shoulder. I could see myself right through him in the mirror, His reflection was only a silvery ghostly visage.
My eyes widened at the revelation, looking between the Mike physically in front of me and the one I could see in the mirror.
"You're a creature of the night Michael, just like my comic book! My own brother, a goddamn shit-sucking vampire!" Sam ranted as he climbed the stairs not turning his back to Mike as if he would attack as soon as he did.
"Just wait till mom find's out buddy!"
Ah there was our Sammy, we discover that Michael is stuck somewhere between the living and undead, and his first thought was to tattle on him to mom.
Sam started running up the stairs now, to rush to the land line in his room.
"Sam!" I called after him following him up the steps, "Sam! Calling mom isn't really going to help in this situation!" I reasoned with him, as Michael and I chased after him to his bedroom. He in response, shut the door in our faces and locked it.
"Sam what is mom going to do?! Ground him?" I possibly would have laughed at this if it wasn't such a serious situation right now. Sam ignored me though and I could hear him tapping the buttons on the phone, mind set on calling mom.
Michael groaned and trudged his way to his room, shutting the door, leaving me in the hallway alone. I sighed resting my head on the door, trying to figure out what my next step was. I felt calm, way too calm for someone who just found out one of their brothers was a Night walker that was only supposed to exist in fantasy tales.
I pushed myself off Sam's door, gaining an idea on how to get in, and made a beeline to my bedroom at the other end of the hall. After only a few minutes of searching I was able to emerge from the bedroom with a couple bobby pins; stretching and pulling one out to fit my needs. I went back to Sam's door pressing one bobby pin, and jiggling it around, then sticking in a second.
I leaned In close to the door handle waiting patiently till I heard a familiar 'click'.
Bingo, I smirked and removed the bobby pins, then opened the door, causing another girly screech from Sam.
I covered my ears, and shot Sam a dirty look. "It's just me, you big baby!" I hissed, stalking up to him and sitting on the foot of the bed.
"Sorry Mom, it was just Jac." Sam spoke back into the receiver turning slightly, trying to keep the phone safe from my grasp. "Yeah she is still here." He spoke again, twisting around, avoiding my hand trying to reach for the phone.
"Anyway mom, we need to have a long discussion about Michael."
I rolled my eyes and went to snatch the phone again from him, but this time he thrashed in his bed trying to sit up, catching me off guard, and quite literally smacking his forehead against mine.
"Oh no! OH God!" Sam yells frantically.
I am unsure why until I spot Michael outside the window, his feet straight out, and his hand desperately gripping onto the windowsill trying to not fly away. I was taken aback for a second before rushing to the window to try to pry it open.
"No Jac! Mom! Help! He's coming to get us!" Sam screamed, the phone still pressed to his ear, as he looked upon Mike in horror. Frustrated, I yelled and left the window, stomping up to Sam. I snatched the phone from his hands and shoved him towards the window.
"Mom, are you there?" I asked as calmly as I could through the receiver.
"Jac is that you!? Is Everything alright? What's wrong with Sam!?" Her frantic voice came back to me, I sighed relieved she was still there. Sam tried to run up and grab the phone again yelling for help, while I pressed the phone to my chest to muffle his screams from mom's ears, and shoved him away with a foot.
"Sam help Michael!" I hissed out to him, before pulling the phone back to my head.
"Mom Sam is fine, He is just a little paranoid from the comics he's been reading lately, and a tree branch hitting the window scared him." I lied coolly, pointing at the window repeatedly, for Sam to open it up for the distressed Michael yelling something that was too muffled to hear.
"A comic book? Are You sure hun?" Mom didn't sound too convinced, but I stood firm.
"It's alright mom, I promise we are all fine, just enjoy your date okay? Love you, bye." I pressed the end call button right before Michael's foot managed to hit the window, breaking a hole in it, allowing us to hear his screams.
"Sam, Help me! I'm your brother Sam!"
Sam finally shaken back into reality, approached the window fast and attempted to open it up. I tossed the phone on the bed and ran to the window as well. With the combined efforts of Sam and I we were finally able to get the Window to creak open. Once we had it nearly open all the way I reached out grabbing Michael's forearm and yanking him towards us.
Sam followed suit, grabbing onto Michael's other arm and pulling him back. We were able to get him inside once more, and as soon as Michael's feet touched the floor, he seemed to have gotten control of his newfound ability and crouched down further. He hugged us to him, thankful that he was on solid ground once again.
"We gotta stick together," Michael said, holding on to us tightly. I was a bit taken back to see him so shaken up; Michael was rarely this disturbed or frightened.
"What about mom?" Sam asks, looking up between Michael and me. Michael's face palling at the mention, I just shake my head slowly.
"I don't think that's a good idea Sam." I spoke rubbing circles on Michael's back soothingly.
"I don't know, this isn't like breaking a lamp, or getting a D."
"Just give me a few days to figure something out on my own, Sam." Michael said calmly. He seemed to be trying to figure out his next move, his eyes dashing about. Sam and I nodded in agreement, that seemed like a good idea.
We all stood, and helped Sam clean up the mess from the broken window, and put the phone back where it belongs. After that was clean I made my way down the stairs, to the mess of blood on the floor. I set to work wiping it up, thankful to see it hasn't settled long enough to soak in and stain the wooden tiles just yet. From there I went to dispose of the rag in the trash when I spotted the fridge wide open, and a carton of milk on the tiled floor, some of it pooling out.
I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose before picking up the carton, setting it in the fridge, and grabbing the proper equipment to clean up the spilt milk. I was in the middle of mopping up the mess when I heard someone sneaking down the steps, and saw Michael, his new leather jacket on, and the keys to his honda in his hand.
"You're going to her aren't you?" I asked, he seemed startled, unaware of my presence up until that point. He ducked his head down, putting his hand back down to his side.
"I have to Jac. I can't explain why, but I just… I have to see her."
I didn't answer right away, after this revelation I really thought he would try to find the boys and ask THEM what was going on with him. Instead he was going to go to Star. I wanted to say something about him only going to her for the sex appeal, and not to get real answers, but I kept quiet.
His temper flares quickly, and now that I know why he is acting so unmanageable, I don't want to push my luck by making him angry. And against my better judgement, I also knew what he was feeling. That pull, that need to go to that one particular person. Even if it isn't something you should do, even if it is dangerous to do so. You just had to be near them.
He reached for the door again.
"Wait."
His hand dropped again, and he huffed. "Jac, I don't have time to argue."
"No One's arguing," I quipped, reaching under the sink to grab the First aid kit that mom placed there when we moved. I walked it over to the table, opening its contents.
"Let me see your hand." I commanded, lifting a hand out for him to place his hand palm up in my own, which after a little hesitancy, he complied.
I grabbed a small disinfectant spray, and gauze, giving his palm a generous few spritzes before taking the gauze and wrapping it around his injured hand.
"With you being half dead and all, I doubt a dog bite is going to affect you much, but just in case." I informed with a shrug, and tucked the end of the line of gauze. He looked it over appreciatively, while I packed the contents back into the kit.
"I really am sorry about that Jac." I looked at Michael to see his gaze fixed on my arm. I looked it over, the bruising now an ugly dark purple hue, but the shallow pricks from his nails were closed and no longer bleeding.
"Don't worry about it Michael, You're not yourself right now." I waved him off, putting the first aid kit back under the sink where I found it. I heard the front door open and close, indicating Michael had left the house. The sound of his bike starting up and fading away only confirmed the action.
I finished mopping up the spilt milk on the floor, and rinsed the mop head out before setting everything back where it belonged to not raise any suspicions from mom when she finally did make it back here.
I checked the time on the grandfather clock in the living room to see it was only a little past 10. It was still rather early in the night, and I really did want to go see David. And Now I had a million Questions running through my head that I wanted to ask him.
I made up my mind, looking around the house for Sam. He wasn't in his room, Mike's nor the bathroom, so I tiptoed over to mom's room to see him lying in her bed, a Superman comic in his hands. It looked like he planned to be sleeping in here with mom tonight, so I let him be.
Knowing Sam was safe inside mom's bed, I quietly snuck out the house, locking the front door on my way out. Michael took his bike, so that only left me one option. I was going to have to hoof it to the boardwalk, and hope that David was there tonight.
I started on my trek, sticking to the side of the road just in case someone decided to come flying down the road this time of night, and to be able to hit the ground if I see mom's car pulling up. She would lose her mind if she caught me walking out here alone at night.
I tried to practice what I might say to David when I saw him. It was a kind of obvious that Michael's new predicament means that David and the rest of the boys, and Star were all also Vampires.
The concept was hard to wrap my mind around. Vampires are something you only ever hear of in comic books, and horror movies, they weren't supposed to be real. I wasn't even sure if real vampires are anything like the ones in the movies! I mean could David really die if I happened to eat some pizza with garlic on it before kissing him?
The thought made me chuckle to myself despite the circumstances, but only for a moment before reality sunk back in. If David really was a vampire, where does that leave me? Was I supposed to recoil and run away from him? Be disgusted at the prospect of him hurting and most likely killing humans like me to satiate his hunger?
To be honest I wasn't feeling disgusted by it at all, and I think it has been long enough for the shock to leave my body, so some feelings should be surfacing by now. Right now though, all I felt was the ever increasing longing to see him, and my trembling nerves about what we would have to discuss.
Before I knew it the lights, sounds, and smells of the boardwalk were growing stronger and stronger. By the time I reached the front gates my legs were shaking and I felt as if I could hurl, due to the uncontrollable nerves. I pressed forward though, I was determined to get to the bottom of this dilemma.
I forced my legs into a jog, trying to cover more ground and find them as quickly as possible. I kept my ears open to any hints of their bikes, knowing that they drove them all around the boardwalk despite the many sign's advising against it.
All I heard was the normal screams, and laughter from the s, and so far no sight of the boys anywhere. There was a moment where a rock sank into my stomach, as I thought they might not have come here tonight. I shook my head.
'No! They have come here every single night, why would this one be any different? And David said I would see him tonight, He must have planned to come down here, I just got to be patient.'
I hopped off the pier to the sand below, losing my balance just a bit, and having to put my hands on the ground to keep from falling over. I walked the length of the shore, passing by the occasional burn barrel where I would inspect the lit up faces of the patrons nearby. None were the boys sadly, only the unrecognizable faces of some drunk partying surfers.
I looked at the group closest to the large rocks, but as soon as I was able to tell they weren't who I wanted, I turned around and headed back towards the boardwalk. I was ready to inspect within the bright lights one more time.
"Hey, where are you going?" I heard a voice call out from somewhere behind me followed by a low whistle. I ignored the obnoxious call, and continued forward, but the guy didn't seem to get the hint.
"Hey hold up! Why are you in such a hurry babe? You should stay, party with us." I was flanked on each side by two men. It was pretty dark so I couldn't see their features that well, but I knew both were the typical Surf Nazi. One had shaggy mousy brown hair that he ran his hand through to get it out of his light colored eyes.
The other on my left had Sandy blonde hair in a style that looked similar to my brother Sammy, and muddy brown eyes.
"No thanks." I replied curtly, hoping they would just grow bored and go back to their bonfire and booze after seeing I clearly wasn't interested, however it wasn't the case at all.
(warning for those who don't want to read an attempt made for non-con, skip this part.)
"Aw don't be like that Baby, come on, some beer will loosen you." The one with Sandy blonde hair piped in putting a hand hand on my hip and squeezing.
"And loosen up those clothes." The Darker haired one said with a laugh and a swig from his can of piss flavored alcohol.
I rustled out of his grasp, throwing his arm off me, and taking a few quick steps to get out of their reach, whipping my head back to snarl at them.
"I said No! Get lost!" I growled at them, then snapped my head back to continue running towards the boardwalk. I didn't get very far before I heard the pounding of feet in the sand gain on me, and a pair of hands grip my hips harshly pulling me back. I yelped and struggled against their grasp, when the man with longer hair stood in front of me gripping onto one of my shoulders, and his other hand taking a firm, painful hold of my chin.
"Don't be so frigid Doll, we promise you will your time with us." His breath smelt terrible, as if he hasn't brushed his teeth in a week, on top of the heavy stench of booze. I pressed the bottom of my palm into his nose fast, hoping to at least possibly break it, and used my other hand to scratch the hell out of his arm. I screamed as loud as I could, lifting my leg up to try to kick him as well, all while trying to wriggle out of the grip of the 2nd guy.
I wasn't able to tell which one but one of them was able to hold my arms at my sides, another instantly placing a hand over my mouth to stop my screams from being heard. Another had placed a hand back on my shoulder attempting to yank down one of the thick straps of my top.
I was able to get my mouth free enough to bite down hard on the junction between their thumb and forefinger. The one in front of me howled in pain, shaking his hand out, before looking at me seething, and pulling his hand back, with a closed fist.
(End of the attempt, safe from now on.)
"You bitch!"
I closed my eyes as hard as I could and flinched expecting a hard impact. Yet it never came, instead, I heard an inhuman growl, followed by a petrified scream. I opened my eyes, to see that the man that was just in front of me a second ago was nowhere to be seen. I couldn't see very well in front of me, vaguely comprehending that all the burn barrels closest to us were no longer lit ablaze.
The arms around me that kept me from moving loosened, as I heard the gasp from the man behind me. I used this opportunity to break free from his grasp and ran forwards, slipping on the loose sand and having to reach my arms out in front of me to catch myself.
scrambling back on my feet as fast as I could, I turned around to see one of the men looking up, searching the skies frantically. There was a loud sickening "Thud!" and "Crack" I heard not too far off to my right. When I looked over I saw what looked to be the other man that I bit the hand of.
His body laid on the ground, broken and mangled, his body nearly folded in half, as if his spine was completely snapped. His face contorted in a frozen look of terror, completely white, and his eyes void of any signs of life.
Before the horror of the sight could even phase me I heard the 2nd man scream. I turned my attention back to him, watching his dark outline run off to my left, before he was swooped up, right off the ground by another black silhouette; the size of a tall man. His yells persisted only for a few seconds, before being cut off and replaced with pure silence.
I looked up towards the sky, to see if I couldn't make out what exactly was going on above me, but with the large thick clouds covering the moon and stars tonight, and all the fires put out, I could only see black.
I waited what felt like hours, but in reality it was only a matter of seconds, before a second body came crashing down beside the other, in just as bad of shape. This time, a round shape the size of a volleyball falling right after it.
I didn't have to see the object to know it was the severed head of what used to be a man. I heard another lighter thump to my left, that caught my attention, and I looked away from the mangled corpses to inspect it.
There stood about 10 feet away from me, a dark figure, features hidden from my sight, besides a single key one. Bright peroxide blonde hair, that even in the darkest of nights, still seemed to glow bright.
As soon as I recognized the figure I didn't hesitate. I ran towards him, instantly snaking my arms around his waist and burying my head in his chest. I tried my best to control myself, but my sobs shook my body, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stop my body from shaking.
Two arms wrapped around me once again, but this time the embrace was warm, familiar and welcomed. A hand ran down the back of my head, petting down my hair, in a comforting motion.
"Shhh it's okay kitten, I'm right here."
It took a few more minutes, of him just whispering sweet comforting words in my ear, before the sobs stopped wracking my body, and I was able to calm down. When only the occasional sniffle occured, I lifted my head up to try to look David in the eye. Now that my eyes adjusted to the dark, I was able to make out some of his basic features, though it helped that I was so close to him.
I was able to see the scruff on his jaw, and his beautiful eyes, that looked much darker now, but I could still tell they were the comforting beautiful blues.
I wanted to just stay like this, revel in the silence and his protective embrace; but after this night, after what he just did, I knew we had to talk.
"I came here tonight, to tell you about Michael, and ask you myself." I started. He loosened his grip, just slightly and stood straight, leaving a bit of room between us to look me in the eye.
"However," I drifted off looking back to where I knew the bodies still lay, before bringing my attention back to David, who has not spoken a word since I have.
"I think it's pretty much cleared up now. You are a vampire." Even though it was a statement, It still sounded like a question, leaving him room to correct me if my hypothesis was wrong.
"Are you scared?" I blinked a few times, that was a confirmation. I thought about his question shaking my head before answering verbally.
" Of you? No, not even a little bit." I laid my face into his chest once again, breathing in his scent. I was almost shocked, that I was actually able to answer that honestly. I turned my head to lie my cheek against his chest instead.
"So that is what the 'wine' was for? It really was blood?" David chuckled, and pressed his cool lips to my forehead. I hummed pleasantly at the notion.
"Yes it was. Come on Kitten, let's get you some food." He said, dropping his arms from the embrace, but keeping one hand on my lower back to help lead me towards the boardwalk. I missed the warmth of his arms around me instantly, but the growl of my stomach kept my protests at bay.
"Wait what about the -"
"The boys will take care of that for me, don't you worry princess. I've been doing this for centuries."
I looked at him, eyebrows raised in mild shock.
"Centuries?"
He laughed, shaking his head, moving his hand from my back to wrap his arm over my shoulder, pulling me to him to press his lips to the top of my head.
He brought me to a little burger stand to grab a basic cheeseburger and some fries before guiding me to a bench for us to sit at and talk a little more privately. As we sat I offered him the little cardboard box of fries. He took a few and placed them in his mouth.
"So Vampires can eat human food?" I asked, placing a fry into my mouth as well, and lifting my legs to lay them over his leg that was closest to me.
He shrugged, chewing slowly. "It tastes great, but it doesn't sustain us." He grabbed another fry, popping it into his mouth.
"What is this?" He asked, I felt a finger softly run down my sore arm.
"Oh yeah that." I said lifting my arm to look at it again. "Mike was angry with me." I shrugged taking a bite from my burger. David stiffened beside me, and I looked over to see the dark look in his eyes.
"Don't get mad at him David. He wasn't himself." I patted his arm to try to calm him down, which seemed to work just a little. He loosened up, shaking his shoulders a bit, to dispel his rage.
"It's the hunger, the longer you refuse to complete the transformation, the harder it is to control your emotions." He explained, running his fingers up and down my arm softly.
"I should have taken him to feed earlier."
"Don't blame yourself David, I'm fine really, I barely even feel it now." He gave me a reasonable look of disbelief that made me laugh.
"Alright, alright, it doesn't feel great, but I am fine, I promise." He patted one of my legs with the arm that wasn't thrown over the bench, and leaned in close to me. I leaned in so our lips can meet halfway in a warm kiss. It was short, but I felt everything in that brief touch.
"Jac, I was going to be patient, but since the secret is out, I will have to have an answer." David whispered. I knew what he was referring to, and I bit my lip in thought, his eyes drew down towards my mouth, but didn't make a move otherwise.
"I can't drink it yet." he started to lean away from me, in something I was sure was disappointment, but I grabbed his shoulders and pulled him back.
"David, that doesn't mean I don't want to." I searched his eyes, trying to read his expression, and he seemed to be trying to do the same.
"There are a few loose ends I gotta tie up, regarding mom... and Sam. I need to make sure they are in a good place." I explained, thinking about the two members of my family that are the most in the dark right now.
"It should only take a few days, once they are taken care of, I will gladly join you." I finished watching his expressionless face break, a small smirk gracing his lips, raising the hand from my legs to tuck a piece of hair behind my ear, then letting it rest on my cheek, stroking his thumb gently against my bottom lip.
"Promise?"
I grinned widely at him, running my hands along the collar of his jacket.
"I promise." With that he leaned in again, and we sealed it with another amazing kiss, that had me seeing stars.
