Love, Loss and Treason Chapter 9
Mr. Turner agreed with Chandler's suspension from the Warblers. He even went as far as to ban him from going anywhere near the senior commons. The rest of the year went by with very little problems. Then about a week before school started, Blaine was trying to narrow down a set list for sectionals when Kurt decided to see what would happen if he curled up right next to Blaine. Blaine kissed Kurt on the head but kept working. Kurt decided to climb in Blaine's lap. Blaine put his stuff on the bedside table and they began to kiss and one thing led to another. A month later Kurt woke up feeling awful. He ate breakfast and as soon as they arrived at school Kurt ran to the bathroom and threw up. He figured it was just a stomach bug and didn't say to Blaine as he didn't want to be a bother. After a week of not being to keep anything down, Kurt decided to go see a doctor. He went to one that didn't know the Anderson's. This was harder than it sounded since they knew everyone it seemed. Kurt finally found one. Kurt made an appointment but didn't tell Blaine or anyone for that matter. Kurt drove himself one afternoon while Blaine was in a staff meeting. Kurt sat nervously in the waiting room trying not to text Blaine. The Nurse finally called him back. She led him to a room. She took his vitals. His heart rate was a little high. His blood pressure was a little low. He had gained about 10 pounds which he was not happy about. She asked him why he come in today. He explained that he had not been able to keep anything down the last month. She told him to have a seat on the exam table. Kurt did this. She had him lay on his back. She then began to gentle push in on his stomach. He winced. She then left the room and a few minutes later came back in the room with the doctor and an ultrasound machine. The doctor introduced himself to Kurt. He then began to gently push on Kurt's stomach. He noticed it was really tender. He then had Kurt sit up and asked him to go pee in a cup. Kurt did this and then went back and sat in the room for about 15 minutes. The doctor came back in a d pulled the stool over to the side of the bed and said,
"Kurt this may be a bit forward but were you born a female and now in the process of transitioning into a male? Kurt looked at the doctor and said,
"No, I was born male but I was also born with ovaries." The doctor smiled and said,
"Well, that makes more sense and explains this. Here lay back for me and lift up your shirt." Kurt laid down on the table and pulled up his shirt. The doctor grabbed a bottle and said, "This will be cold sorry." He then squirted the gel on to Kurt's stomach. Kurt slightly flinched as the gel hit his stomach. The doctor then picked up the ultrasound wand, turned on the machine, began to move the wand around on Kurt's stomach. After a moment, Kurt heard a heartbeat. He looked at the ultrasound machine, then at the doctor then back at the ultrasound machine. He then looked back at the doctor and asked,
"Am I pregnant?" The doctor nodded. Just then the doctor turned back to the monitor and Kurt heard what sounded like a second heartbeat.
"Actually, you are pregnant with twins. Congratulations Kurt. You are about two months along. Do you have someone to help you or are you alone?" Kurt nodded and said,
"Yes, I have my husband."
"Is he in the waiting room or was he unable to make the appointment?"
"No, he doesn't know that I have not been feeling good. He has been super busy and stress at work so I haven't said anything to him. He is the Glee coach for the Dalton Academy Warblers and we have sectionals coming up and he is trying to get us ready for that. He doesn't need the added stress of me being sick and pregnant to worry about right now. I will tell him once sectionals are over hopefully we win."
"Kurt, I would tell him today. You are going to need his support."
"If I tell him now, it will only cause him more stress." The doctor sighed. He turned off the machine, hung up the wand, and he then wiped off Kurt's stomach with a rag. He then helped Kurt sit up, then said,
"I really think that you should tell him but that is up to you. I am going to give you a prescription for some anti-nausea meds that should help you keep some food down. I am also going to recommend some prenatal vitamins. I want to see you back in two months. Here is my car if you need anything please don't hesitate to call." He handed Kurt a card and a prescription. Kurt thanked him and left the doctor's office. Kurt stopped at the pharmacy to fill his anti-nausea meds. He grabbed some food for dinner. Kurt then drove home and began to cook dinner. Blaine arrived home and was surprised to find Kurt cooking dinner.
"Kurt why are cooking dinner?"
"Well, you have been very stressed out lately with sectionals so I figured I would take some of your stress off by cooking dinner for us." Blaine wrapped his arms around Kurt and said,
"Awe thank you honey. You are so sweet. I have finally got the set list for sectionals. It will be announced tomorrow morning. The board also voted on the solos and that helped to narrow down the list. Kurt finished cooking dinner, they ate, showered and went to bed. The next morning the Warblers gathered in the senior commons very excited to learn the set list. Once everyone had arrived Wes, who was the Warbler captain, got everyone's attention.
'Okay so for sectionals we are going up against the New Directions and Aural Intensity. McKinley is going to be our biggest competition. Our song selection will be, drum roll, 'Uptown Girls', 'Dark side', and 'Glad you came'. The first and third songs will be led by myself and Nick while 'Dark side' will be a solo. The soloist will be Kurt!" (AN: I know that these songs in Glee have Blaine and Sebastian singing but for the purposes of this story they will not as they have both graduated.) Kurt smiled as everyone applauded. His cheeks turned pink. The Warblers dove straight into practicing. The practiced before school, during free period, & after school. They worked the songs inside and out. Kurt was so tired at the end of each day that he fell asleep at dinner most nights. Finally, the day of sectional arrives. Kurt woke up feeling awful. He rolled out of bed, got dressed, and went downstairs. Blaine was in the kitchen cooking breakfast. He took one look at Kurt and said,
"You look awful! Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I just didn't sleep good and I am just anxious." Blaine walked over to Kurt, took his hands, and said,
"You will do great you've got this." Kurt smiled then got up and ran to the bathroom. Blaine followed and Kurt began to throw up. Once he stopped, Kurt leaned back against the wall. Blaine got down next to his husband and said,
"Oh my god Kurt are you okay?" Blaine went to move a stray piece of hair out of Kurt's face. As he did, he noticed that his forehead felt warm. He placed the back of his hand on Kurt's head. It was burning up. "Kurt honey you have a fever. Did you eat something funny?" Kurt slowly placed his hands on the toilet and the tub and pulled himself up. He slowly stood up and said,
"I am fine. I am pretty sure it's just nerves. I will be fine." Blaine helped Kurt up and said,
"Kurt I can get someone else to do the solo. You are in to shape to be singing today. Why don't you sit this one out. There will be plenty of other competitions." Kurt shook his head. He was not sitting on the edge of the tub. He then said,
"No, I am going to sing. I am not going to let my fellow Warblers down. I am just anxious." Blaine was not convinced but decided to not fight with Kurt on this. He decided to keep a close eye on him though. They ate breakfast and then got in the car and drove to McKinley, as they were hosting sectionals this year. Kurt got major anxiety being back at McKinley and began to breath heavy. He took a few puffs of his inhaler and walked inside. They made their way to the auditorium and back stage. Upon arriving back stage, Kurt was greeted by Jeff and Nick. The competition soon began with Aural Intensity going first. The Warblers were second, and McKinley was last.
Burt and Carole sat in the audience to watch Finn and the new directions. Carole was flipping through the program and stopped when she got to the page that introduced the Warblers. She showed Burt the page and pointed out a Kurt Hummel-Anderson. Burt pulled out his phone and texted Finn and asked him if he by chance knew a Kurt Hummel-Anderson. Finn responded saying that he knew a Kurt Hummel that left McKinley. Burt asked Finn if the Kurt that was singing for the Warblers and if so can he introduce them. Finn texted back yes it was him and that he would try to introduce them. After the New Directions performed, the results were announced. Aural Intensity got 2nd as there was a tie for first between the New Directions and The Warblers. After everyone began to leave, Burt and Carole walked up to Finn and he walked over to where Kurt, Blaine, and a few of the Warblers were standing and talking. Finn tapped Kurt on the shoulder. Kurt turned around and saw Burt and let out a small gasp. Kurt looked like him. Burt cleared his throat and said,
"Hi Kurt my name is Burt Hummel. I am pretty sure that I am your father. You mother was Elisabeth Hummel right?" Kurt nodded. Burt then said, " Then I am you father as she was my wife. I am so sorry to hear of her death. It's nice to see you again." Kurt began to get really dizzy as his fever spiked. Everything went black and Kurt collapsed. Blaine caught him before he hit the ground.
