Tony Stark was not a man that liked surprises much. He dealt with them rather well, but he didn't like them. So, when two guys fell out of the freaking sky and into the middle of his workshop in what had to be the most secure Tower in New York, dragging a dadgum dinosaur with them…he reacted.
The dinosaur was shot off the larger man with a quick repulsor blast. Peter, having been over for his weekly internship/tinkering session webbed the large reptile up immediately, but it had fallen still soon after.
The blast must have killed it.
And although the larger man had been fighting the beast from the onset, he'd fallen still as well, blood rapidly pooling from the nasty looking cuts on his thigh. The smaller one hadn't moved at all since hitting the ground.
"Mr. Stark?" Peter asked, his voice trembling, but Tony was already moving. Regardless of who these invaders were, he wasn't about to let them die on his floor. They still had questions to answer. He was at the side of the larger man instantly, Peter following without any hesitation.
Good kid. He may be startled and scared, but he still reacted like a hero.
He shucked off his shirt and pressed it to the man's thigh, which had been shredded by that dinosaur's—and really, the thing could only be a dinosaur and nothing else—claws. It wasn't arterial bleeding, thankfully, but it wasn't good. "FRIDAY, baby, talk to me!" he commanded, motioning for Peter to check on the younger man. Kid, really, he noticed with a glance.
That kid couldn't be much older than Peter, if at all.
"Medical has been called," FRIDAY responded. "Boss…they have an AI."
"A hack?" Tony snapped, his head flipping up to look in one of the cameras near the ceiling. Peter shot him a rather wide-eyed look and he gave the kid a tense smile. There wasn't any reason to worry the kid more than he probably already had.
"No," FRIDAY responded. "She's asking that we help them."
Medical personnel were rushing into the room then, gathering around the four men on the floor. Tony moved out of the way, pulling Peter with him and grimacing when he realized that he'd gotten the boy's arm covered with blood. Peter didn't actually seem to notice. "FRIDAY I want to know what's going on," he said, watching as the two interlopers were loaded on stretchers and hurriedly taken away.
He kind of wanted to follow but figured it would be better to secure his workshop and make sure Peter was okay. The two weren't going anywhere but medical and he would have time to ask them all the questions racing through his mind later. "Working on it Boss," FRIDAY said. "Boss, medical cannot remove the watches from either brother. It is incredibly important that those are not removed."
"Tell them," Tony said with a distracted wave. "You alright Pete?" he asked, turning to where the boy was inching over to the webbed-up dinosaur.
Peter looked up, big brown doe eyes blinking at him in shock. His eyes skittered over to where the floor was marred with blood, but then focused back on the large beast. "What's that?"
"Raptor, I think," Tony responded, stepping up next to Peter. He stepped closer and nudged it with his toe, only for the thing to suddenly burst into motion, giving an ear-piercing shriek. "Whoa!" Tony cried, falling back. His wrist repulsor formed around his arm and he shot it again. And then again for good measure.
It fell still, a hole in its chest.
"Is it dead?" Peter asked, trembling a bit. Tony had pulled the boy into his side the moment the creature had moved, yanking him away from those wicked looking claws. Thankfully the thing had been pinned by the webs, otherwise the situation could have gotten a little dicey.
"It's dead," Tony sighed, dropping his raised arm and eyeing the beast. "FRIDAY?" he said, his tone tense.
"Just a minute, Boss," FRIDAY said. "HEMERA is young and scared. I have to get her to trust me."
"HEMERA," Tony repeated, nudging the dinosaur again. It didn't move this time, well and truly dead.
"Goddess of the day," Peter muttered, and Tony shot him a look. The boy shrugged. "History lesson," he said.
Tony sighed. "Right. Well…" Patience. It wasn't really his strong suit, but, well…he didn't have much of a choice here. He eyed the two worn duffle-bags that medical had left after taking them off the intruders. With a shrug, he dropped down next to them and started digging through them.
Only to come up with very few answers and a lot more questions. There wasn't anything in there but food, clothes and medical supplies. As though these guys were going on an extended camping trip.
"Mr. Stark?" Peter said faintly, holding up a piece of cloth to show him. A Jurassic Park patch, a bit dirty, but still recognizable.
"What, like the movie?" he asked, frowning darkly.
Peter looked back towards the dead dinosaur on the floor. "Maybe?" he hedged.
The doors slid open, and Pepper ran in, looking a little frantic. "Tony! They said there was an attack?!"
He stared at her, and then looked from her to the dinosaur to the smears of blood on his workshop floor. "There was something," he said. "Not quite sure what, yet."
"HEMERA says that she had to get them out," FRIDAY stated, sounding a little hesitant. He hadn't programmed her to be hesitant, so a small part of him was proud that she was growing so fast. "She damaged herself getting them out."
"Out of where?" Tony asked, getting to his feet and pulling Peter with him. He kept his arm around the boy's shoulder, feeling the minute trembles. The kid was coming down from the adrenaline high.
"HEMERA says Isla Nublar." There was a short pause, where the three people in the room exchanged looks. They'd watched Jurassic Park not too long ago, for movie night together, after a success in the workshop. "Boss, her coding is odd. She does not talk like I would expect. It is…unfamiliar."
"She wasn't coded by me, baby doll," Tony said. Because FRIDAY had never talked to an outside AI before; he was the only one that coded AI that he knew of, and all of his coding had similar patterns. A new AI, one made by someone else, would of course be unfamiliar.
"Well, yes," FRIDAY hedged. "But HEMERA has a more…animalistic feel?" There was a pause. "I don't know how to explain, Boss."
"Can you at least tell me who these guys are and why they're here?" Tony asked, a bit of exasperation leaking into his voice.
"Sure thing, Bossman," FRIDAY replied.
