Chapter 7
Cursed Film
It was late evening in Kadic.
Jeremie Odd and Ulrich were talking in the cafeteria.
"Is she still working on the program?"
Ulrich asked.
Jeremie nodded.
"It's her brother who's at risk. I don't blame her."
"So she's not going to show up to the movie?"
Odd asked as Yumi walked in.
"You mean that old horror film that they finally allowed you to show here."
"Yes! I worked hard to get that film ready!"
Ulrich just shook his head at Odd.
Meanwhile…
Aelita and Jayden were working on ResurXtion….again.
Jayden could tell that Aelita had too much attention on the program and not enough on the rest of the world around her.
"You need a break."
Jayden stated while closing out the files.
"I don't need a break."
"Aelita."
"No Jayden you know what's at stake here."
"It's my life that's at stake here not yours!"
Aelita went silent.
Jayden sighed.
"Look, just take tonight to rest isn't there anything going on that you can distract yourself with?"
Aelita thought for a moment.
"Well Odd convinced the Principal to allow a horror film."
Jayden smiled hearing this.
"I love horror stories."
He remembered reading them a long time ago.
"I wish I could see that film."
Aelita smiles a bit.
"Perhaps you can."
In Jeremie's room…
"You want me to hook up a camera for Jayden?"
Jeremie asked, confused.
"Yes."
Aelita responded.
"Ok i can do that but why? Doesn't accessing the real world weaken his physical form?"
"Thats why im asking you to hook up a camera he can access from a tower without activating it, similar to when he talks to us from our computers."
Jeremie nods.
"Ok but you still didn't tell me why?"
Aelita sighs.
"As much as i hate to admit it, Jayden is right. I've been working too hard trying to save him. I haven't had much time to do other things. And the movie Odd is playing would be a nice break from all this."
"That makes sense."
"Also"
She closed her eyes then opened them.
"Jayden really likes the Horror genre, giving him a break would be a nice way to thank him for all he has done for us."
Jeremie nods in response.
"Alright I'll see what i can do but no promises."
"That's all I ask."
Aelita left the room,leaving Jeremie to work.
"Those two really are twins."
He said with a slight chuckle.
Meanwhile…
Odd and a few other students were getting the film projector running for the movie unaware of the ghost of XANA going inside the projector while no one was paying attention.
Time passed by quickly as students went into the gymnasium to watch the movie Odd set up.
Aelita wasn't there though.
She had gotten a message from Jeremie saying he got the camera set up.
This made Aelita smile as she quickly went to her room and got onto her computer.
"Jayden, can you hear me?"
Jayden sighed as he appeared on her screen.
"Aelita im not letting you have access to ResurXtion right now."
He said while shaking his head.
"Yeah I know I'm here for different reasons."
Jayden had a confused look on his face.
Aelita smiled at her brother before explaining the camera being set up by Jeremie.
He closed his eyes for a second before opening them.
"Why go through all this trouble for me?"
Aelita now had a confused look.
"You've been doing so much for me since you first appeared as X. Like me you need a break from all of this chaos. Besides we still have time right."
Jayden hesitated for a moment
"Yeah of course but"
"No buts Jayden, you can do this without weakening your current form so this is a perfect opportunity for you to take a break as well, XANA has shown no signs of an attack right?"
He shook his head.
"I haven't seen anything."
"Great, make sure to head to Jeremie's laptop so we can see the movie and see you then."
"Aelita wait"
Jayden was interrupted by Aelita shutting off the computer.
"He'll thank me later."
She said before leaving her room and heading to the gymnasium.
While Jayden chuckled at how stubborn his sister was.
"Guess I better get things set up on my end."
He said to himself while getting things set up.
Aelita went to Jeremie who was on his laptop in the back of the gymnasium with Ulrich and Yumi.
"Is it set up?"
Aelita asked as she sat next to Jeremie.
"Yep, it's set up above us."
He points up causing the three of them to look at the hidden camera above them.
"Wait, why do you have a camera set up?"
Yumi asked curiously.
"You're not trying to pirate this movie are you?"
Ulrich asked sarcastically.
"No, I'm just giving a friend of ours a gift for his hard work."
As Jeremie said this Jayden appeared in a small window in the left corner of Jeremie's laptop.
"Hard work is a bit of a stretch, all i try to do is protect my sister, try to make a program to reconstruct my broken form and stop an evil AI from taking over the real world."
Jayden said somewhat sarcastically.
"You still deserve a reward."
Aelita said while sitting next to Jeremie.
"Anyway just a little more and"
Jeremie finished coding and hit enter.
The camera above them activated and started looking around.
"Jayden do you have control of the camera?"
Aelita asked.
"Full control has been enabled."
"Good thing the movie is starting."
Ulrich stated.
Odd stood in front of everyone.
"Hey everybody, welcome to Odd's horror night, hopefully to be a regular thing after today."
That made a lot of people shake their heads.
"Anyway please enjoy the film."
Odd started the projector then ran to the back where his friends were.
He noticed Jayden on Jeremie's laptop.
"Oh hi Jayden, are you here to watch the movie?"
"Why else would I be here?"
About 40 minutes into the movie there were several different reactions.
Some people looked bored while others looked scared.
Jayden on the other hand was very focused on the film.
The film while being PG-13 still had decent writing and a cool villain.
A hooded floating ghost with a demon hand that stole the souls of its victims by grabbing their heart with its demon hand.
Jayden loved supernatural horror villains so this movie had his complete attention.
Suddenly the projector started to spark a bit before shutting off.
"What the-"
Odd was interrupted by the projector starting again showing the ghost on the screen as it slowly moved closer.
Till its demonic hand was off the screen and in the gymnasium.
A lot of people were shocked at this as the rest of the ghost came out of the screen.
"This is some impressive 3D"
One kid said.
"Wait, shouldn't we have glasses for that?"
Another kid said.
"Wait then that means-"
The several screams were heard right before Jim ran at the ghost.
"I'm not afraid of some fake ghost."
He was quickly thrown into a wall by the ghost.
Everyone started to clear out of the gymnasium including the Lyoko Warriors.
They all quickly ran out of the building.
Jeremie opens his laptop.
"It's XANA right?"
Yumi asked.
Jayden felt the pulsations in Lyoko.
"It is. Dang it, I should've been more observant, I should've been focused."
"Jayden calm down."
Aelita said while concerned.
"It's nobody's fault. Jayden can you still see the ghost on the cameras?"
Jayden checked.
The ghost was glowing on his screen but it was glowing.
"Yeah I can see it's not moving but it's oh no."
The ghost had split into two and left the room quickly.
"There's two of them now."
"XANA is trying to split us."
Jeremie stated.
"I know this monster, I'll distract it."
Odd said while heading back inside.
"Just deactivate that tower quickly!"
He shouted before running inside.
"Jayden, we'll see you on Lyoko."
Aelita said before Jeremie closed his laptop and the four began running to the factory unaware that one of the ghosts had fazed through a wall and was following them.
At the Factory…
Jeremie had begun programming the scanners while the rest went to the scanner room.
"The tower is in the Mountain Sector. Jayden should be near where you will be virtualized."
Aelita, Yumi, and Ulrich all went into the scanners and were virtualized.
Jayden was waiting for them near his Overspeeder.
"The tower is up there."
Jayden pointed behind him at a tower that was mostly hidden in the clouds on a tall mountain.
"Of course it's high up."
Ulrich said while shaking his head.
Jayden got on the Overspeeder and Aelita joined him.
Yumi and Ulrich's vehicles materialized in front of them.
The group started to make their way to the giant mountain.
While this was happening…
Odd had found where the majority of the students were hiding.
"Alright everyone listen up the ghost is weak to light as long they keep getting shined by it will"
Odd was interrupted by the lights shutting off.
"Ok this isn't good."
He said while getting his phone out to see.
Several other students did the same thing.
Odd felt a slight chill behind him and when he looked behind him.
The ghost was right behind him and was reaching out to him.
Right before it grabbed him a flash of light hit it and it disappeared.
Odd turned around and saw a kid holding a camera.
"Great, we're safe for now."
Back on Lyoko…
The group had made it to the base of the mountain.
"You know there's going to be monsters up there right?"
Jayden said while looking up.
"I would be surprised if there wasn't."
Yumi stated as they flew up.
They were about halfway to the top when Yumi was suddenly shot in the shoulder.
"Urgg!"
"You have a swarm of Hornets heading to you on both sides."
Jayden turned to the right while Ulrich and Yumi went to the left.
They were met with six hornets each.
Aelita began throwing energy fields at the hornets while they were fast and dodged.
Jayden tried to get close to the hornets but they shot poison gas at them so he quickly backed off.
"Have I mentioned how much I hate fighting in the air?"
"No but to be fair you don't have a ranged attack."
"Alright, new plan."
Jayden started driving up causing the hornets to fly up to follow them.
They began shooting, making Jayden swerve a bit.
"Jump now!"
Jayden shouted, making Aelita and him jump onto a nearby ledge on the mountain causing the Overspeeder to fall landing on half the hornets.
The remaining three flew up towards the twins only to be met with a scythe blade and energy field to the face.
"Great job you two."
Jeremie said as the hornets disappeared off his screen.
"How are Ulrich and Yumi?"
Aelita asked.
"They Are managing."
Ulrich was constantly trying to deflect the lasers back at the hornets while Yumi was trying to dodge and aim her fan at the same time.
Back at Kadic…
Odd and the other students were keeping their guard up as the spirit could appear anywhere.
Suddenly the spirit appeared behind the student with a camera and knocked the camera out of their hands.
The camera crashed onto the floor and made a flash causing the spirit to retreat once again.
"Oh great, we just need a spirit smart enough to break its weakness."
Odd quickly took out his phone and began to call Jeremie.
While this was happening Jeremie had felt a chill on his spine.
He looked behind him and saw the second spirit slowly approaching him.
"Guys I need to go, the spirit is here!"
He shouted before running towards the elevator.
The spirit went after him immediately.
Jeremie made it to the elevator and rapidly pressed the go up button making the elevator close.
The spirit's hooded face went through the door but before more of it could go through the elevator went up leaving Jeremie to catch his breath.
"I don't care how cheesy that movie is, that thing is scary."
Odd's call went to voicemail and he sighed.
"Alright we're moving now, we need a new camera now."
Several students nodded while the rest did not move.
Odd quickly ran out of the room using his phone for a makeshift flashlight.
Back on Lyoko…
Jayden looked up at the mountain and saw there were no longer any ledges for them to jump on or climb.
"Alright I have an idea."
He summoned his two scythes and stabbed the mountain.
"Get on my back, I'll climb us to the top."
"Are you sure this will work?"
Aelita asked, a little concerned.
"No but at this point we're out of options."
Aelita climbed on his back and Jayden started to climb the mountain.
As they climbed both the twins thought back to another one of their childhood memories.
Unfortunately this wasn't the time for either of them to think about this as they focused on their mission.
Ulrich and Yumi had finally beaten the hornets and started heading back to where Jayden and Aelita were.
They saw the twins climbing the mountain and several flying Mantas were heading towards them.
"Let's buy those two some time."
Yumi said.
"Yeah, let's hurry though, who knows what's happening back in the factory."
Currently Jeremie was in the center of the factory looking around knowing the spirit could be back at any time.
The spirit's arm reached out from the floor and tried to grab Jeremie's leg.
This made him trip and watch as the spirit slowly floated out of the ground and went after Jeremie.
He immediately crawled backwards trying to escape the spirit.
While this was happening Odd and several students were heading towards the photography room in order to get a new camera.
Odd ran straight to the door.
Only to have his neck grabbed by the other spirit.
The students backed up in fear as the spirit stood in front of the door.
Back on Lyoko…
Jayden and Aelita were almost at the top of the mountain.
"Aelita as soon as we get to the top run to the tower we dont know whats going on back in the real world."
Aelita nods and as they reach the top Jayden pulls them up and they both land on the top.
Only for a tarantula to shoot Aelita's head causing her to fall off the mountain.
Jayden immediately stabbed the monster and destroyed it.
He looked at the tower then at the mountain.
"There's no time."
Jayden ran into the tower and went to the center.
While this was happening the spirit cornered Jeremie while the other one still had Odd.
Jayden floated to the second platform and placed his hand on the interface.

Code
Lyoko.
The tower deactivated and the spirits vanished.
Aelita landed at the bottom of the mountain causing her to devirtualize.
She went to the computer lab and saw that the tower was deactivated.
"Jayden no"
She said quietly to herself.
Aelita shook her thoughts away and immediately launched a Return to the Past.
That Morning…
Aelita and the others were at the vending machines.
"Yeah im not doing the horror night again."
Ulich said sternly.
"Oh c'mon i guarantee no evil spirits."
Odd begged.
While this was happening Aelita was silent and looking down.
"How's Jayden?"
Jeremie asked her.
"I didn't know I was unable to contact him."
On Lyoko…
Jayden was sitting in the center of a tower resting.
He pulled his sleeve down and there were several cracks going down from his wrist.
"My form is breaking."
AN:Ok i know i have to explain myself. One i was busy finishing my other project to focus completely on ResurXtion and this month my internet decided to just not work on my laptop for several weeks and I was busy focusing on that. But anyway I wanted to make this a combination of a Code Lyoko episode and a horror movie. I feel like I accomplished that. Anyway thank you for all the support on ResurXtion i promise it won't take me super long for the next chapter. Until next time.
