Chapter 8
The Secret
Jayden was watching the cracks on his arm cautiously.
It had been a few days since they first appeared on him and show no signs of going away.
"Even with my form somewhat stable the damage is still there."
He sighed as he felt Code Earth activated three times.
"She's not going to like this."
He said to himself.
It was morning not long after and Jayden remained silent for the time being.
At Kadic…
Most of the group except for Yumi were outside talking.
Suddenly an alarm appeared on Jeremie's laptop.
"Oh no a XANA alert!"
Jeremie said concerned.
"The big problem is that Aelita and I can't get out of History class."
"Don't sweat it Einstein, me and Ulrich will go get ready."
Jeremie nods at them.
Aelita spoke up.
"Try to contact Jayden if you can, I want to make sure he's ok."
"You still haven't been able to contact him?"
Ulrich asked.
"No, I'm getting worried."
She looked down a bit.
"Dont worry im sure he's fine."
Jeremie assured her.
"I hope you're right."
The four spit up and Ulrich and Odd made their way to the factory unaware that someone was following them.
When they got to the factory Ulrich went to the computer and looked through a couple things.
"Ok how do those two contact him exactly?"
He asked himself.
"Contact who?"
The two heard a voice as Jayden appeared on the screen.
"Jayden, where have you been?"
Ulrich asked.
"You missed the fun on the last XANA attack."
Odd stated.
"Do you want a short or long story?"
Jayden asked the two.
"Short please."
Odd said.
"My form is breaking more and more so I needed a break."
He held up his arm to reveal the cracks.
While this was happening Jeremie and Aelita had arrived at the Factory and were entering the elevator while discussing their school project.
"It seems that lately XANA is getting more and more active, we're constantly on Lyoko."
As she said that William went in the elevator right before it went down.
"Hey sorry to interrupt but do you mind telling me who this XANA dude is?"
The elevator went to the lap and opened as Jayden was in the middle of a sentence.
"And that's why I cant deactivate towers anymore."
"Jayden?"
Aelita said, running to the computer.
"Hi Aelita."
"Where have you been?!"
"My form was breaking. I lacked the energy to contact you and needed to rest."
When Aelita heard this only one thought went through her head.
'We need to finish ResurXtion now!'
While this was happening Jeremie stated that their current priority is the tower and after a Return to the Past William wont remember anything anyway.
Jayden just shook his head as he listened to all this.
"I swear half the time you guys are being tracked by someone at this point."
"It does kinda feel like that."
Ulrich said.
"I'll make my way to the tower now."
Jayden said before his video transmission ended.
Jeremie took his seat at the computer.
"So that's Yumi's secret. A Supercomputer Hideout that's incredible now I understand why she didn't want to tell me anything."
"We're going to have to make do without her but I don't like this at all."
Jeremie said while preparing the scanners.
"I can go get her if you want."
This caused the group to look at him with confused looks.
Ulrich had a bad feeling about this but since they didn't know what XANA was up to they let William run to get Yumi unaware that as soon as William left someone else went into the Factory.
Someone armed with explosives.
As the man began planting explosives,Aelita,Ulrich, and Odd were virtualized to the Ice Sector.
When they landed they saw Jayden walk up to them.
"Hey guys."
Jayden said while he tried to sound normal it was obvious that his form was weakening and a slight tone in his voice proved it to Aelita.
"Where's your Overspeeder?"
She asked him.
"Unfortunately even after recovering to my current strength, summoning my vehicle is impossible without shortening my time further."
Jayden and Aelita looked down for a second.
"Jeremie, can you help him out here?"
Ulrich asked, trying to change the mood of the twins.
"Don't worry Jayden we have your Vehicle program after we combined our research for ResurXtion."
Jeremie said as he began typing.
"Wait, how did you get my Overspeeder's data from us combining research on it?"
Jayden asked, a bit confused.
"When we restored your form it unlocked a lot of the programs you kept secret from us during your time as X, anyway three vehicles coming up."
The Overspeeder,bike,and board all materialized in front of the four.
Each warrior went to their respective vehicle with Aelita joining Jayden on the Overspeeder.
"The activated tower is on the northern edge of the sector."
Jayden looked towards the North.
"I see the tower Jeremie."
He started driving towards it.
"Hey wait up!"
Odd shouted as he and Ulrich followed him and Aelita.
While this was happening William was successful at getting Yumi to head to the factory.
Back on Lyoko a large group of kankrelots started chasing the group.
"I always wonder how these things are fast enough to catch up to our vehicles."
Jayden asked.
"He's got a point, look at those small legs."
Odd joked right before he was shot in the shoulder.
"Anyway it's best to destroy them n-"
"Don't you dare!"
Aelita interrupted Jayden.
"If you summon your scythe now there's no telling how much time you'll have left. I'll take care of them."
Aelita turned around and blasted one of the monsters with her energy field.
"Aelita my scythe could destroy so many of these at once just let me-"
"Not happening!"
She blasted another one.
Two kankrelots attached to the sides of the Overbike but Ulrich quickly ran them into ice mountains destroying them.
The Kankrelots were jumping at Jayden, Odd and Aelita since their vehicles were up higher.
More of them were heading towards Ulrich though.
"You might want to help him out."
Jayden said.
Aelita nodded and jumped on the Overbike and began blasting monsters left and right.
"And this is why our kill counts are the same."
Once the Kankrelots were all gone she jumped back on the Overspeeder.
"See nothing to worry about."
"Yes but-"
"C'mon hurry to the tower!"
Jayden sighed knowing nothing he said to her was working at the time.
As they were getting close to the tower another large group of monsters began chasing them.
A large swarm of Hornets.
"Let's take different routes we'll meet on the other side!"
Ulrich shouted as the group split up.
Five Hornets were chasing the twins as they were getting close to the river of digital sea the tower was on the other side of.
"Aelita charges one of your energy fields for a while, I have an idea."
Aelita nodded and began focusing on a large energy field in her hands as the Hornets shot at them.
They were at the center of the river when suddenly Jayden flew straight up and then upside down.
When they were right above the Hornets and Aelita was about to fire the energy field she was charging when suddenly Jayden grabbed the energy field with his hand.
He quickly squeezed the energy and it turned into his scythe which he quickly swung destroying the wings making the Hornets fall in the digital sea.
Aelita looked shocked.
"How did you know that would work?"
"I figured since we combined powers once before we could use our abilities in different ways."
Jayden drove to the other side where Odd and Ulrich were waiting for them.
Back at the Factory…
Yumi and William were attacked by the XANA possessed Demolitions guy on the bridge of the factory.
While this was happening three Blox were guarding the tower and quickly devirtualized Ulrich with their ring blast.
"How many life points did he lose to those Hornets?"
Jayden questioned before dodging a ring blast.
"You guys need to get the job done now. I was in contact with Yumi and she is fighting someone on the bridge."
Odd flew straight through the rings and destroyed the Blox while Aelita jumped down and blasted the other with an energy field.
The last one aimed at Aelita right before it was destroyed by Jayden stabbing it with his scythe allowing Aelita to run into the tower.
Odd landed right next to Jayden and held his hand up.
Jayden chuckled a little and gave Odd a Hi-5 only to watch his hand go through Odd's.
"Ok that's very bad."
Jayden looked at his hand and it was a digital ghost.
Aelita deactivated the tower right before the man could push Yumi and William off the bridge allowing Yumi to get her phone.
"You can launch a return to the past now so you know who doesn't know you know what."
"What makes you think this is over? This guy works for explomat."
"Yeah so what?"
"If i'm not mistaken this guy works for a company that specializes in demolition. I bet he came fully equipped to blow your factory sky high."
"Dont worry Yumi ill launch a return to the past and the explosives will disappear along with William's memory."
Back on Lyoko…
Aelita had left the tower to see why Jayden was shocked.
Only to watch a flying manta devirtualized Odd and the Scyphozoa knock Jayden off the edge of the Sector.
"Jayden N-"
Aelita was interrupted by the Scyphozoa taking her.
"The scyphozoa got Aelita and Jayden is gone!"
"Why not launch a return to the past anyway?"
Yumi questioned.
"It's way too dangerous. We don't know what might happen to Aelita."
Yumi quickly went to the scanner room while Ulrich Odd and William went searching for the bomb.
While this was happening Jayden was hanging from his scythe on the edge of the sector.
"I wonder which fate is worse, disappearing or falling into the digital sea."
Jayden said right before launching himself back.
"Jeremie, I'm back, where's Aelita?"
"She's on her way to the way tower, Yumi is chasing her. Hurry!"
Jayden quickly jumped onto the Overspeeder and went towards Aelita.
He caught up to Yumi and saw a Megatank.
"I thought you were gone."
Yumi stated.
"Not yet."
Jayden flew above the Megatank and saw Aelita.
"I'm going to stop her."
He drove directly in front of the tower right before Aelita got close to it.
"Let go of my sister XANA!"
Jayden readied his scythe.
Yumi was right behind Aelita.
"It's two on one you don't stand a chance."
Yumi said as Aelita threw an energy field at Yumi.
She quickly dodged it and threw her fan which Aelita dodged.
Jayden got close to Aelita but then stood back.
"I can't do it even if it's virtual."
Jayden said, throwing away his scythe.
His eyes widened
"Maybe i don't have to"
Jayden ran towards Aelita who was about to throw an energy field at Yumi.
She quickly turned to Jayden who quickly summoned a black version of the energy field in his disappearing hand.
The two energy field's combined.
A mess of energy surrounded the twins.
Jeremie saw a strange program appear on the monitor.
"What is this?"
He read it outloud.
"Synchronization at 50%?"
When the energy cleared Jayden was left standing and his hand appeared restored.
Yumi ran up to him.
"What just happened?"
She asked
"I-im not quite sure."
"Jeremie?"
"I have no idea either."
Jeremie heard Ulrich on the phone.
"Jeremie William defused the detonator. Were saved."
After this…
Jayden was on the screen while the others were in the lab with William.
"Oh c'mon please i swear i won't tell anyone."
William was begging to join the group.
"He really deserves to be one of us besides we could use another soldier."
Odd said
"And he's already proven how much he can help."
Aelita added.
"Well then let's vote, if everyone votes yes then William can officially be a member of our club."
Jeremie said before looking at Jayden.
"My vote is yes. He saved all of us when he defused the bomb."
Several votes passed and there was one no.
Jeremie launched a return to the past.
In Aelita's room…
Aelita and Jayden were talking.
"How much time do you have left?"
"A couple days maybe less."
"Then it's settled."
Aelita left the room and went into Jeremie's
"We're finishing ResurXtion now. We will save Jayden"
AN:And with many many delays i finally finished the second to last chapter of ResurXtion is done. I don't know why I was struggling so much with this one but I guess I just was. With one last chapter left there's not much left to say. Will Jayden be saved? What was the synchronization? And will I finish the last chapter before the end of the year?
