(5:30 PM)
Later on that evening, Marty finally woke up. He found that he was in a bedroom on a bed. He also saw a dark figure standing by the window although he couldn't make out who it was.
"Mom? Mom, is that you?" Marty drowsily said. "There, there now. You've been asleep for about nine hours now," a familiar voice said, dabbing Marty's forehead with a cool rag. Marty recognized the voice of his mother and sighed with relief.
He closes his eyes and relaxed against the pillow. "I had a horrible dream that… that Ally and I went back in time. It was horrible," he said with a sigh. "Well, you're safe now in good old 1955," Lorraine says.
Marty became wide awake when he heard this, his eyes opened all the way. "1955?!" he exclaimed. Then, a lamp turns on and he yelped with a start. Marty quickly sat up and sees his mother as a teenager. "You're… you're m-my…" he stammered in shock.
Lorraine perked up and smiled, "My name is Lorraine. Lorraine Baines." Marty looked at his mother in disbelief. "Y-Yeah, but you're uh... you're so uh... thin!" he said breathlessly.
"You hit your head pretty hard, Calvin." Marty was confused when she called him that. That wasn't his name.
As he started to get up, he quickly looks down to see that he wasn't wearing his jeans. "Agh! Where are my pants?!" he exclaimed, quickly covering himself up. He blushed out of embarrassment.
Lorraine pointed towards her chest across the room. "Over there on my hope chest. I've never seen purple underwear before, Calvin," she answered. Marty shook his head then asked, "C-Calvin, why do you keep calling me Calvin?"
Lorraine grinned and said, "That's your name, isn't it? Calvin Klein? It's written all over your underwear," She tried pulling the blanket off of Marty's legs, but he quickly scooted back before she could do it.
"Wait, where's Ally?" he asked, sounding uncomfortable. Lorraine was confused and said, "Ally? You mean Cyndi Lauper? She's your sister, right?"
Marty looked at his mother, now confused. He knew that she was a huge fan of the singer. "N-No. People call me Marty and call her A-Ally," Marty corrected. He was starting to become uncomfortable with the fact that his own mother was starting to hit on him.
Before things could escalate, Stella called her daughter from downstairs. "Lorraine, are you up there?" Stella called. Lorraine's face fell and quickly looked at the door. "Oh my God, it's my mother," she said, jumping off the bed.
She tossed Marty's pants back at him after she left. "Quick, put your pants back on," she said quickly. Marty catches them and quickly puts them back on, only to fall on his face in the process. After getting his denim jacket and vest back on, he walked out of the room.
Ally saw her brother walk out of the bedroom and hugged him out of relief. "Thank god you're alright!" she said, pulling back before slapping him on the chest. "Ow! What was that for?" Marty exclaimed.
"For scaring the hell out of me! Don't do that again!" Ally scolded. "Hey, I'm sorry but someone had to save him," Marty defended. Ally sighed and hugged him again.
Afterward, the siblings follow their grandmother downstairs. "So tell me, Marty, how long you been in port?" Stella asked. Marty was confused by that question. "Excuse me?" Marty asked.
"Is that a trick question?" Ally added, furrowing her brows. "He must be a sailor because of that life preserver," Stella replied, making it downstairs. Lorraine was already waiting by the dining table with her three other siblings.
Their grandpa Sam was fixing a new TV that he had just gotten. Stella walked up to him with her hands on her hips. "Sam, here's the young man you hit with your car out there. He's alright, thank goodness. You had his sister there worried to death," Stella said.
Sam peeked over the top of the TV to see the two teenagers. "What were you doing in the middle of the street?" their grandfather-to-be asked. Stella rolled her eyes before turning to walk towards the dining table. "Oh, don't pay any attention to him, he's in one of his moods. Sam, quit fiddling with that thing and come to dinner," Stella said.
Stella started introducing the siblings to the rest of the family. "Lorraine, you already know. This is Milton, Robert, and in the playpen is baby Joey," Stella said.
The siblings turn to look at the toddler in the playpen, playing with rings on the railing. They kneel down in front of him. "So, you're our Uncle Joey?" Marty asked quietly. Ally grinned and tapped the wooden bars, "Better get used to these bars, kid."
"Yes, he loves playing in the playpen. He cries whenever we take him out so we leave him in there all the time." Stella cooed. The siblings make their way to the dinner table. Lorraine pulled out a chair behind Marty, forcing him to sit down next to her.
Annie, feeling slightly weirded out, sat down next to Marty. "I hope you two like meatloaf," Stella said, sitting down across from the siblings. Sam then rolled the tv in front of the dining table while chortling excitedly. "Look at this! Now we can watch Nicky Gleeson while we eat!" Sam said, running back to his seat at the table.
While everyone else was watching the television, Lorraine was eyeing Marty flirtatiously. Ally noticed this right away and glanced at Marty, who looked back at her with an uncomfortable look.
'Um… is mom flirting with Marty? Jeez, this keeps getting weirder and weirder,' Ally thought awkwardly. They then looked at the tv and watched what was on it. "Our first television set. Dad picked it up today, do you and… Cyndi have one too?" Lorraine asked Marty.
'Huh? Cyndi? Why did she call me that?' Ally thought. She glanced down at her shirt that had Cyndi Lauper on it and the singer's name was underneath the picture. 'Oh, that makes sense. Might as well roll with it,' Ally thought, rolling her eyes.
"Y-Yeah, you know we do, we have two of them," Marty said. Ally was about to kick him in the shin but their uncle Milton, who was wearing a raccoon hat, spoke up. "Whoa! You guys must be rich!" he said, his eyes lit up in excitement.
"Oh, honey, he's teasing you. Nobody has two television sets," Stella said, leaning towards the kid. Marty then glances at the tv and saw what was on it. "Hey, look, we've seen this one!" Marty started, pointing towards the TV.
Ally rubbed her head and groaned, "Marty… don't drag me into this…" But Marty kept going, "This is where Ralph dresses as a spaceman!" Milton was confused by Marty's comment. Marty seemed to forget that they were in the fifties and not in the eighties.
"What do you mean you saw this? It's brand new," Milton said. "Well, I saw it on a rerun," Marty continued. 'Alright, that's it,' Ally thought, kicking her brother hard in the shin. She kicked hard enough to make him jump.
"Ow!" he yelped. Ally pretended to be innocent and she looked away. "Oh, I'm sorry, my foot slipped." Ally said in a smart-ass manner. "What's a rerun?" Milton asked. Ally rubbed her face and sighed, "You'll find out,"
"Marty, Ally, you two look so familiar to me; do I know your mother?" Stella asked the siblings. Their eyes were on their teenage mother, knowing that they couldn't tell them their mother is sitting next to them.
"Yeah, she's a lot closer than you think," Ally commented. "Well, I oughta give her a call, she must be worried about the two of you," Stella said, starting to get up.
"No, you can't. Nobody is home," Marty quickly responded. "Yet," Ally added, making sure that their grandmother wouldn't get suspicious.
Marty then pulls out the page that he got out of the phonebook. "Um, do you know where 1640 Riverside Drive is?" he asked. "It's on the end of town near the river bend," Sam replied, eyes still glued to the tv.
"A block passed Maple. Isn't that by John F. Kennedy Drive?" Marty continued, putting the page back in his pocket. Sam glanced over at Marty, making it obvious that he had no knowledge of that name. "Who the hell is Johny F Kennedy?" Sam questioned.
"Mother, with Marty and Ally's parents out of town, don't you think they oughta spend the night? I mean, Dad almost killed Marty with his car," Lorraine suggested. Ally felt her breath hitch in her throat at this.
"No, no, that won't be necessary. Marty and I have to go actually," Ally said, starting to stand up. "No, I think you two should stay. It seems to me that you're our responsibility for tonight," Stella agreed.
"And Marty can stay in my room," Lorraine said, putting a hand on Marty's knee. "Ah, on that note, we really need to be going. We were actually going to our Uncle's place before this. So he's probably wondering where we are." Ally said, making up the believable lie.
"Oh, right! Completely forgot about that. We were supposed to go there hours ago! So we'll see you later. Much later," Marty agreed, jumping up from the chair along with Ally. The siblings then dash out of the door and hoped to not see them again.
"Those two. They're strange," Stella commented. "Both of them are idiots. Come from upbringing. Their parents are probably idiots too. Lorraine, if you ever have kids like that, I'll disown you," Sam commented, not realizing that those kids are his future grand kids that just ran out.
