Chapter 131: Apartment contest
Izu put Eri in her crib and sat down to ask her if she would let him handle things on his own and not be smothering or overly protective of him, causing Baby Eri to coo at him before smiling. Soon, there's a knock on the door, causing Izu to open it for Momo, who then ask him if everything ok. Izu then gives Momo a deadpan look and was about to say something until Momo tries to comb his hair because she thinks it looks messy. Izu then gets mad and slammed the door in her face, causing Momo to get confused before running off crying. Izu then sat down before recalling a flashback before the camping trip when he was questioned by people who thinks he doesn't defend himself or isn't capable or too weak to fight villains because his friends always telling him not to fight or he'll get hurt, and they're always smothering him just because they think he's reckless and incapable of protecting one for all. After all the shaming he been getting, being excluded from the fight against Piper, Blendin, and Romeo is what starting the development of Izu's midlife crisis. After the flashback, there's another knock on the door and this time, a concerned Mina wants to talk to him. After Izu told her what he told Tsu on the bus, Mina obliviously say that it's because he reckless and doesn't take responsibility seriously, so everyone has to volunteer to keep him from fighting so the Devil Brats won't steal one for all. Izu then slammed the door on Mina's face before locking it and sat down with Eri to turn on the tv. However, he turns it off when Sid the science kid came on.
That morning, the Peanut Gallery talked about Izu being moody and mysterious along with unusually keeping secrets from them until Mina gets an idea. Soon, Katsuki slid a note under Izu's apartment door saying come down to the lobby before going back down himself. Suddenly, Izu texted him, causing Katsuki to text back four times until Izu finally came down with an emo expression. Izu then ask what's going on in his most unusually morbid tone, causing Toru to tell him that they are going to have fun together by having an apartment contest. Izu then gives Toru an aloof look before saying fine, causing everyone to cheer as the boys pat Izu on the back while the girls give him a kiss on the cheek. Soon, the contest began as a montage of each apartment is shown until Mei shows her studio apartment last. Soon after Rikkido and Itsuka won, the phone rang, which caused Izu to run to it but got blocked by Momo as she picked it up. Eraserhead then told Momo that she and the team need to be patrolling for anything suspicious because the Devil Brats just send a villain organization to steal one for all, and Izu will be in charge of the mission. Momo then look at Izu with a worried expression before agreeing with the terms. She then immediately told Izu to get into his costume because they are patrolling their area, causing Izu to tell her that he overheard Eraserhead saying that he's in charge of the mission. After Momo told Izu that he's not in charge because they will instantly lose to the villains, Izu gives her an emotional look before pouting unusually, which Momo did not see because she took off to tell everyone what's happening. Soon, everyone got ready until they realized Izu isn't with them, causing Ochaco to run up to Izu's apartment as everyone listens to Izu screaming at her to get out. Ochaco then gives everyone a serious look before saying that the person in Deku's apartment is not their Deku, causing everyone to become more concern before leaving him behind. Izu then look out the window to watch his friends leave before looking at a picture of him and his friends and remembered his argument with his mom after he got sent home for starting the first fight with the Devil Brats. Izu then lies on his bed to start crying.
That night, Izu made himself and Eri pancakes until there's a knock on the door, causing Izu to open it for Bella and Stella, who then say that they came to see him because they heard that he's acting strange lately, causing Izu to humbly let the twins in and told them that everything is fine. Bella then gives Izu an "are you sure" look before telling him that his friends went out to do some patrolling when Yosetsu called them to check on him because he and the others are worried about him. Izu then takes a deep breath before telling the twins what he's been trying to say to his friends, causing the girls to understand before asking if they could stay for dinner with him, which he says yes to. After dinner with Izu and Eri, the twins get a text from Tenya before going down to the lobby to tell everyone who got back from patrolling their area, that Izu is going through a rebellious phase, causing everyone to understand and thanked the twins for helping them out as the twins left. Shoto then ask what they are going to do now with Izu, causing most of everyone to think for a moment until Ibara convinced everybody to stay positive and let the problem solve on its own because a rebellious phase is something teenagers goes through in life. Koji then agrees before reminding everyone that they know Izu by heart, and if he's going through a phase, it won't take long to go through it. Pony then called Izu and begged him to join the mission that Eraserhead given them because they can't do it without his help before saying please and for her, causing Izu to sigh depressingly before saying sure.
