Chapter 143: Feeling like a child

Izu sat down in the lobby as Momo finish up talking to Ashley on her phone before thanking him for giving her and everyone else a chance to talk to him, causing Izu to smile a little before saying that he got a meeting to go to, so they have to make it quick. everyone then looks at each other before agreeing to let Katsuki do the talking. Katsuki then tell Izu that they known each other since the first day of school and all he wanted since they moved in together at U.A. Apartments is to not only protect him, but to protect one for all as well. Izu then gives Katsuki a sympathetic look as he continues by saying that they've been through ups and downs together, and having Izu going through a rebellious phase puts a strain on their friendship because none of them knows what it's like to be acting like a typical teenager. Izu then told Katsuki that his brother along with the other older kids are fourteen, so they should know what it's like, causing Tsu to explain that it's the point because none of the older kids went through the rebel phase since they're working alongside them as heroes. Izu then put his head down as flashbacks of his rebellious behavior began to show in a montage before crying as Katsuki wraps it up by admitting that now that the Devil Brats are now leaders of the Warcraft of Doom, they went overboard with the protection to the point of becoming overbearing and overly protective, which is the reason why Izu developed his midlife crisis in the first place. Katsuki then say that all he wants to say on the behalf of the team, is they're sorry, causing Izuku to give his friends a big smile before stretching his arms out so they have a group hug with tears of joy. Afterwards, with a will to tell his friends what's going on, Izu told his friends that he got a message from Gadget saying that he wants to help him prove himself as a hero, causing them to become shocked and sternly told him that he's not going there after Izu explains his desire to prove to them that he's not weak, defenseless, or just a simple kid.

Izu look at his friends surprised before saying that it's the least he could do so they won't be so overly protective anymore, causing Ochaco to sternly tell him that Hatsume is now the most dangerous villain in Japan before telling Izu to let them do all the fighting once they confront Hatsume in the morning. Izu then became frustrated and reacts in disbelief before saying that after all that rekindling moment, they still going to exclude him in fights like he some weakling, causing Momo to say that's not it at all before lecturing him that he can't always get what he wants. Izu then told his friends that he can't just stand around while they're doing the fighting because they too can get themselves killed, just like their fight against Kingpin. Izu's friends then became surprised, realizing that he's right before telling Izu that his recklessness will only make things worse. Izuku then gets mad and ask everyone when they'll see him as someone who can defend and fight for himself because he's a certified genius who strategized things and have potential in being a hero. Momo then also gets mad and said they are too young to be a hero anyway and the reason why they volunteered to move into Heights Alliance Apartments is because that none of them thinks he's ready to go out, and just because he's a genius doesn't mean he'll immediately be a pro in everything. Izu then remind everyone about his past achievements, including a PHD and teacher diploma before reminding them about their past achievements before the war. However, Tsu got mad and yell that he's not allowed fight villains until they think he's ready. Izu then became heartbroken before realizing something.

A flashback from Chapter 15 begins as a certain similar fight began between Izu and his mom is shown, causing Izu to become furious and clenched his fists saying that none of his friends are his parents before punching Tsu in the nose. Itsuka then gets furious and demand Izu to not walk out the door, causing him to turn around and gives everyone two middle fingers, shocking them. After Izu slammed the door and flew off as it began raining. The Predecessors then appears before the remaining U.A. League as they talk in confusion about what went wrong before telling them that Izu's rebellious phase is almost finish, because the last step they need to do is get sense into him and prevent him from confronting the Warcraft of Doom alone because everything that have happened to their friendship was all their doing. Nana then explain what happened from Piper, Blendin, and Romeo attacking their camp, to the Band of Massacre leaders private talk with Izu, causing the kids to be shocked until Nana put her hands on Tenya before asking a serious question, which is if they think Izu is a weak, defenseless, and simple kid who does things recklessly without thinking. Everyone then look at Tenya with worried expression until Tenya told Nana that Izu is a strong, protective, and highly intelligent boy genius who's willing to protect others and do what's right no matter what people say. Tenya then wraps it up by saying that if Izu wants to prove himself as a hero, then they will help him by confronting the Warcraft of Doom together before asking who will protect the heroes when they need saving, causing his friends to clap and pat him on the back while the previous users of one for all smiled before Yoichi tasks the U.A. League to end Izu's rebellious phase by convincing him that they can prove themselves as heroes together, which everyone agrees to before the users disappears into thin air.
