She called Chimney first letting him know Buck had turned up again and was currently passed out on her couch after revealing he wanted to die. Chimney had asked if she needed anything, any help or anything he could offer, but she had kindly declined the offer saying that Buck needed rest and comfort now and not to be overwhelmed by well-meaning loved ones, but that she would let him know if anything changes.
Next call had been to Athena, it was about time she found out the truth of what was going on at the station. Athena hadn't reacted as calmly as Chimney when hearing that another one of her babies had wanted to end everything and even less calmly when finding out her husband had been one of the new bullies. Athena hadn't taken no for an answer when it came to coming over and was currently sitting past the table from Hen in a way that allowed for both of them to have an eye on Buck on the couch
"God he looks so thin, what's happened to him?" Athena asked
"I don't know yet but I'm going to find out" Hen said
"I can't believe it has come to this" Athena said
" Yeah I know" Hen sighted
"Thank you for telling me what's been going on, I sure am going to have a chat with that husband of mine when I get home" Athena said, grinding her teeth slightly
"Thank you Athena" Hen said honestly
Buck sleep lasted all night and looking at him the next morning Hen couldn't bring herself to wake him up, Buck wasn't on shift that day anyway, so instead she had Karen keep an eye on Buck until shift ended and she would get home, letting her know Athena would be by sometime during the day.
When Buck woke up he was startled to find out he wasn't in his own house but somewhere strangely familiar still, he looked around and noticed he was lying on Hen's couch and he sat up a little embarrassed starting to remember what had happened the afternoon before
"Good morning sunshine" Karen greeted him with a cup of coffee in her hand stretched out for him, he grabbed it not knowing what to do with it, he couldn't bring himself to drink it knowing how that would mess with his tight diet of no intake, but he didn't want to be rude either so he pretended to take a sip of the hot beverage. Karen smiled at him and went back to the kitchen to prepare some food for Buck, Hen had left her with strict orders that Buck eat something and that he wasn't to prepare it himself. She had just placed the plate in front of Buck when there was a knock on the door, Karen went to open to find Athena standing outside
"Athena, didn't expect you so early" Karen smiled at the police sergeant
"Sorry I just… is he awake yet?" Athena asked nervously
"He is in the living room" Karen answered and stepped aside to let Athena in
Buck was sitting in the couch, a sight for sore eyes for Athena she couldn't believe how bad it had gotten for him, how bad her husband had treated him, now it was Bobby's turn to be in the doghouse, she had forced him to stay at the couch last night after giving him a proper shoutout to let him know the condition of Buck under his command, Bobby had flinched a little at the mention of Buck being skin and bones and had full on broken down crying when Athena told him that Buck had wanted to die thinking nobody cared anymore, but right now it wasn't her idiotic husband she was worrying about, she was worrying about Buck and how he was doing today after having rested peacefully all night, and she knew from Hen that Buck hadn't been up once during the night. Athena went to sit next to Buck, who was at the moment frowning at the plate in front of him contemplating what he was going to do with it, but when Athena sat down next to him and put her arm around him, shivering slightly when she could feel every bone in his back, Buck turned to her and smiled brightly when realising who it was
"Athena" Buck said and hugged her and Athena felt sick when she could count every rib through his clothing but she smiled back, this was her baby after all. "I've missed you so much" Buck started to cry, his whole body shaking
"Shh baby it's okay now" Athena soothed, stroking his back at the same time, then she ended the hug to soonly Buck felt, cupped his face in her hands and looked at him sternly but with lots of love and worry. "Tell me Buck, tell me Henrietta misheard you when you said you wanted to kill yourself cause nobody cared" Athena said, Buck's eyes welled up in tears once more looking into his pseudo mothers eyes, but he just shook his head
"It just hurt so much and nobody was there" Buck sobbed into her hands and Athena sat frozen
"Why didn't you come to me Buck, I was there" Athena asked hesitantly
"I couldn't" Buck asked almost hysterically crying now and Athena couldn't stand it anymore and embraced him in another hug
"You always can Evan" Athena whispered in his ear as she hugged him tight. Buck just cried
