Chapter 17: Coming of the Silence, Part Two

"All is lost..." Uranus whispered.

"No..." Ami corrected. "There's still hope. I won't give up."

"But what can you do?" Neptune inquired. "You're powerless."

Moon smirked. "You should listen to those two. Without your henshin wand, you have no power at all."

"Then there's one thing you should know." Ami drawled. "You cannot destroy the Senshi's birthright."

"I just did it." Moon scowled "You saw it. It was used to open the portal for my master's arrival."

"It just vanished, but I can always reform it." Ami stated. With that, she reached out her right arm and opened her palm, and the Mercury Star Power Stick materialized in her hand; the golden star on the top of the transformation wand was replaced by a multi-faceted blue crystal with the Mercury symbol emblazoned on it and a pair of angel-like wings donned both side of the crystal.

"That's... impossible," Moon stammered.

"Usagi, we need you to win this battle." Ami reverted to her Princess form.

"No... Usagi is not here." Moon snarled. "I destroyed her!"

Princess Mercury smiled and the Mercury Crystal started glowing. The blue light flooded the room and Moon screeched as a sphere of dark energy floated out from her back. Moon stood there for a second, then vanished, as did the wings on her back.

"Ami?" a puzzled Usagi looked around. "You saved me... thank you. I'm sorry; I let the enemy take

advantage of my jealousy."

"The powers of the two Messiah may be enough to destroy the real enemy." Uranus realized.

"Well look who decided to come to the party." Mars joked.

"Sorry for the delay." Mercury nodded.

Moon looked up at the creature: most of it's body was leaning out of the portal, and it was glaring menacingly at them. "I must stop it."

"You can't do it alone." Venus warned.

"I know that." Moon frowned. "Moon Crisis Power!" light surrounded Moon as her suit changed. It became a black version of Mercury's Crisis suit. "Let's destroy that thing!"

Mercury nodded "Yes. It's time to end this war." Her suit once again became her princess gown and the Mercury Crystal floated over her head, glowing with light.

Moon looked at Mercury, then her suit also became her Princess Serenity gown.

"Everyone, channel your energy to the two princesses." Pluto instructed appearing in front of the group. "Pluto Eternal Power!"

"Mars Crisis Power!"

"Jupiter Crisis Power!"

"Venus Crisis Power!"

"Uranus Crisis Power!"

"Neptune Crisis Power!"

As each Senshi called upon their power, waves of energy passed from them to the princesses. The two princesses were surrounded by a bright, multi-colored energy aura. They both opened their eyes and stared at the creature coming out of the portal.

"Mercury Crisis Power!"

"Moon Crisis Power!"

A massive beam of multi-colored energy shot from the two princesses' bodies and hit the creature and the portal, vaporizing them both instantly. Mercury and Moon returned to their Senshi forms and fell on their knees.

"We need to give Takeru his crystal back." Mercury reminded.

"But... the creature that possessed me absorbed it." Moon gaped in shock.

Mercury just smiled, "Yes, but I destroyed it." she reached out her hand and a heart crystal appeared. "And I got it back."

Without a word, Pluto rose her key-shaped staff and all the Senshi vanished.

A few days later...

"Hikari, Ami-nee called you out too?" Takeru blinked when the two younger DigiDestined met up at the entrance of a coffeehouse.

"Yes." Hikari nodded.

"Sorry to call the two of you our during exam season." Ami gestured to the two pre-teens from the window table she had occupied.

"It's no problem." Takeru took a seat. "Iced lemon tea." he placed his order.

"Ham toast." Hikari looked up from the menu.

"Someone didn't have breakfast this morning." Ami noted amusedly. "First off," she started once the waitress left. "I want to apologize for involving the two of you in our battles and putting you," she turned to Takeru. "In danger."

"I'm alright now, Ami-nee." Takeru assured. "You returned my Heart Crystal, didn't you?"

"Mizuno-nee," Hikari voiced slowly as Ami cut up a piece of her souffle pancake. "Your future battles will be a lot more difficult, won't it?"

"Yes." Ami sighed.

"Does... nii-chan know?" Takeru asked.

"I'm not very sure." Ami admitted. "We've... put off dating for a while."
