A/N Hey, guys. Welcome back more of the Hawthorne Twins season one series. So first off, I hope you guys are continuting to do your part in staying safe out there, keeping your distance, and getting the vaccine. Second, I finally finished my final semester, which means that I have the time to write and update my current projects. And third, this is the eighth chapter of the series that I love to write so far. The second season is coming as soon as I finish this story. In this eighth chapter, the Hawthorne parents reunite with their friends for the first time in years since the days in Riverdale High before their kids. So sit back, and let's get to the eighth chapter.
I only own my OCs. I'm just borrowing the characters from Warner Bros. and the CW.
After hearing good results from their son and daughter, Daniel and Natalie continued looking for employment to support their kids and themselves. Making a stop at the Andrews' construction site, they spot the seasonal hiring written on the sign.
"Well, this is a good place to look for employment. I wonder if Fred will hire us to work for him since we haven't seen him in the past few years." said Daniel.
"Let's go to talk to Fred, then." Natalie agreed.
The married couple walked up to the trailer and knocked on the door.
"Come in." said Fred.
Daniel opened the door as he and Natalie stepped in and they come face to face with their old friend Fred Andrews for the first in years.
"How you doing, Fred?" asked Natalie as she and Daniel sat down on the chairs.
"Daniel and Natalie Hawthorne. I think my day has just gotten more better." said Fred.
"Well, it's gonna be more interesting." said Daniel.
"How are the kids doing?" asked Fred.
"They're good. They had a run with Archie, Jughead, and Betty at school. And they're looking for some extracirrucular activities." Natalie replied.
"What about you, Fred? How's Mary?" asked Daniel.
"We're actually in the middle of filing a divorce right now. And Mary's living in Chicago right now." Fred replied.
"We've been away from Riverdale for so long and when we get back, you and Mary are filing for a divorce." said Natalie.
"Fred, are you hiring at the moment? Natalie and I've been looking for employment and we haven't found a job yet." said Daniel.
"I'm not hiring anyone right now, unfortunately. I spoke to Hermione this morning and said there's no available positions." Fred explained.
"I see. Well, thanks anyway, Fred. It was good to see you, even though it's been a few years since we moved out of Riverdale." said Natalie.
The married couple left the construction site, feeling disappointed on being unable to find an employment job.
"Fred and Mary are filing for a divorce and Archie's living with Fred. We really thought that Fred and Mary had a happy marriage. But when we come back, they file for a divorce. I wonder what else is new." said Daniel.
"We'll get a job soon, we just gotta keep looking until we find a right job." said Natalie.
Just then, Daniel's phone rang as he took it out of his pocket and Luke was calling.
"Hey, son. How's school going?" asked Daniel.
"It's good. I tried out for the Riverdale Bulldogs football team and Coach Clayton allowed me to join the team." Luke replied.
"Wait until your old man tells you about his days in Riverdale bulldogs." Daniel joked.
"What about your sister? Did she find anything interesting?" asked Natalie.
"She joined the cheerleading team called the River Vixens. And guess who's in charge and the head of the Vixens." Luke replied.
"Who's in charge of the River Vixens cheerleading squad?" asked Natalie.
"Cheryl Blossom. The queen bee." the older twin replied.
"And she allowed your sister to join the Vixens?" asked Daniel.
"She actually relented. Veronica refused to join the Vixens if Cheryl didn't permit Leia and Betty to join the Vixens. So Cheryl finally made a decision to let Veronica, Leia, and Betty to join the Vixens." said Luke.
"We should go. We still haven't got luck on finding a job yet." said Natalie.
Daniel then hung up and put the phone away as he and his wife continued to look for a job to earn income and support the entire family. Just then, the married couple run into Alice, and they were not pleased to see each other after all these years.
"Look who finally moved back." said Alice as she crossed her arms.
"Good to see you too, Alice." said Daniel.
"You still haven't changed at all after these years, have you, Alice?" asked Natalie.
"Never will. Because I still see you as a toxic to my family." Alice replied.
"Leave our son and daughter out of this. They had nothing to do with being toxic on Betty's life since they were just kids at the time." said Natalie.
"Speaking of toxic, we heard that you sent your eldest daughter Polly to live at the Sisters of Quiet Mercy. That was selfish and unsettling decision you made." said Daniel.
"I never approved of Polly's relationship with Jason Blossom. I really hoped that rumors of Jason Blossom drowning are true." said Alice.
"You're still the same after all these years. And you ruined your eldest daughter's romantic relationship with one of the kids of the Blossom family." said Natalie.
"And you better not think of anything to keep Archie and Betty apart. And don't think about keeping our kids apart from Betty or anyone else they make friends with." Daniel warned.
"If you'll excuse us both, Alice." said Natalie as she and her husband walked away.
"I really hate Alice Cooper. Like officially." said Daniel as he and Natalie got to a safe distance away from their former friend.
"Let's stop by Pop's for a little bit. Because I'm craving for some burger and fries right about now." said Natalie.
"You're right. We've been looking for an employment for almost the whole day and we haven't eat anything." Daniel agreed.
"I need to clear my head after that brief argument with Alice." said Natalie.
Arriving at the diner, the married couple walked through the front entrance and greeted Pop Tate briefly as they sat down at a booth close to the entrance.
"What can I get you today?" asked Pop.
"Just the usual, Pop. I need to clear my mind." Natalie replied.
"I'll have a cup of coffee." said Daniel.
"Your orders are coming up." said Pop Tate.
"Thank you, Pop." said Natalie.
"If the kids see us like this, they would be bombarding us with questions." said Daniel.
Pop Tate then delivered the order on the table and Natalie thanked Pop Tate.
"Hey, Pop. How's Hermione doing?" asked Daniel.
"She's doing good. She moved back to Riverdale from New York because Hiram is doing time in prison for financial crimes." Pop Tate replied before asking, "How are the kids?"
"They're good. It's been so long since we've been around this small town." Natalie replied.
"Pop, sorry to ask. Is there any chance that you're hiring right now? Natalie and I've been looking for a job the whole day and we haven't got any luck." said Daniel.
"I could use some help in the kitchen. Like food preparation, kitchen cleanup, and getting the fresh brewed coffee ready." said Pop Tate.
"Honey, you're good at that. Why won't you help Pop Tate at the diner?" Daniel offered.
"But who's gonna be home making dinner for the kids?" asked Natalie.
"Leave that to me. Chances are you could get more exhausted when you come home after a day at work." Daniel replied.
"But we can work out a time schedule so you could be with your kids at home." said Pop Tate.
"I guess I'm hired, then." said Natalie.
"Don't let the kids down. Because this is the start of our old lives we began as teenagers and adults in this small town of Riverdale." said Daniel.
And that is the end of the eighth chapter for today. So what do you guys think? Love it? Hate it? Daniel and Natalie learn about Fred's divorce with Mary and they have a not nice reunion with Alice. And Natalie finally gets a job as a staff helper at Pop's diner. More chapters are coming soon. Next up, the back to school semi-formal. The first crossover story I'm thinking of posting soon is the anime series Bleach and the supernatural TV series Legacies. The Runaways and Avengers crossover idea would have to be put on hold for a while. I'll let you guys know what ideas I'll have in mind for the Bleach and Legacies crossover. If I'm having trouble, I'll do my best to reach out to someone who posted a crossover story. So that is it for now. Continue to stay safe out there, take care, and get the vaccine.
