A/N Hey, guys. Welcome back to more of The Hawthorne Twins Season One fanfic series. So first off, I hope you guys are continuing to do your part in staying safe out there, being healthy, getting vaccinated, continuing to social distance, and continuing to follow the public health guidelines, wherever you guys are, and not being stupid. Second, I want to apologize for making you guys wait for an update from me because my wi-fi's been acting really weird lately, whether if I have or don't have access to the internet. And third, another reason is because I start my first year of university in the next two weeks, and I have to get everything ready, like my notebooks, and everything else. But anyway, this is chapter number twelve, and this continues the second episode A Touch of Evil. I already pitched in some ideas for the second season once I wrap up writing the fanfic. So, this is chapter twelve, and here we go.
I only own my OCs.
Monday morning hasn't been going smooth sailing for everyone in the whole school, now aware that Jason's death has been ruled a homicide. No one had dared to talk to Sheriff Keller or Mr. Weatherbee about what happened on Saturday night. Luke went on with his day at school, avoiding anyone who would come into contact with him. He walked past Cheryl, not daring to look at her in the eyes after her little stunt on Saturday night. Leia then grabbed his arm and pulled him to the side.
"What's going on, sis?" he asked.
"I ran into Jughead a couple of minutes ago. He told me he and Archie were supposed to go on a road trip on the 4th of July, and Archie bailed out on the last minute." she replied.
"Jughead is suspicious. And it has something to do with Archie's secret relationship with his music teacher during the summer." he added.
"Archie is hiding the truth about Miss Grundy. And we need to find out." she commented.
"But not now because we have school. We'll discuss it later." said Luke.
"Have you found out about Geraldine Grundy?" asked Leia.
"Not yet. I thought about talking to Betty about it later today. But I think she's busy doing with her own things right now." he replied.
"I have cheerleading practice later. I'll have to wait and see what Cheryl has to say." she said.
"Mister and Miss Hawthorne, get to your class please." Mr. Weatherbee called.
"Yes sir!" Luke replied.
"I'll see you at the end of the day." said Leia as she walked away.
The older Hawthorne went to biology class as the rumours continued. His instincts ends up telling him that sooner or later, Mr. Weatherbee will have to talk to him. As he walked past the music room, he stops walking before taking a few steps back and he sees something really unexpected. He looks through the glass and sees Archie and Miss Grundy engaging in an intimate conversation. And realization had sunk in.
"So this is why Jughead said Archie's been acting so weird in the summer." he said to himself.
Deciding to talk to Jughead later, Luke went to class before he gets caught wandering in the hallways and not going to class.
Meanwhile with Leia, she was rehearsing and choreographing with the other cheerleaders, getting ready for the pep rally. Some of them were wearing yellow and white shirts, black and white shorts, tube socks with the yellow stripes and white sneakers, except for Cheryl, who's wearing the HBIC shirt.
"Stand down, Vixens, and listen up." Cheryl ordered, stopping practice.
"The weather's predicting a downpour the night of the rally, but already, you're raining on my parade. With Jason so present in our collective consciousness, all eyes will be on me. Will this beautiful, exotic hothouse flower drown under the town's scrutiny, or be swamped by her emotions? The answer, ladies, is "no" and "no." she continued.
"That said, I need star power. I need the Pussycats. Stay loose and limber, ladies, while I make a call." Cheryl finished as she left to make a phone call.
'Cheryl is gonna get on my nerves if she continues with her behavior like this.' Leia thought as she went to take a break with the other Vixens.
Leaving the gymnasium, wanting to avoid any dramas, the young Hawthorne decides to make a phone call with her brother. After three rings, Luke finally picks up the call.
"Yes, Leia?" he asked as he answered.
"Don't answer the call like that, mister. I'm only avoiding drama with the Vixens and I am not having a good time at practice right now." she replied.
"And let me guess, Cheryl is still bossing you around." he commented.
"I want to cut practice early so we can go and see mom." she said.
"Cheryl is not gonna be happy that you want to leave practice early." said Luke.
"I'll make up an excuse." said Leia.
"You better make this fast because everyone's leaving the school now." he pointed out.
"I'll see you soon." she said as she hung up.
Returning to the gymnasium, Leia picked up her regular clothes and went to get changed. As she was about to go to the change room, Betty catches up to her.
"Everything okay?" asked Betty.
"I'm not feeling well right now." Leia replied before asking, "Can you tell Cheryl that I have to leave early?"
"I'll let her know. Just be careful." said Betty.
"I will. Thanks, Betty." said Leia as she pat on her best friend's shoulder and went to the change room to change back into her normal clothes.
Meanwhile, Natalie continued on her first day as an employee at the diner, after a brief reunion with Hermione, who also got a job at the diner as well. Natalie's been having a good day so far without any customer complaints. After serving food to another customer, Natalie looked up as her son and daughter entered the diner.
"Hey, mom." Leia greeted.
"Hey, kids. I'll get back to you after I serve an order." said Natalie.
The twins sat beside each other at a nearby table and to their surprise, Veronica was sitting at a counter. Leia observed Veronica, and she looked deflated. Something definitely happened at the practice today. Just then, Natalie sat down in front of the twins. And Natalie had noticed something was troubling her son and her daughter.
"What's going on, kids? Talk to me." said Natalie.
"Cheryl." Leia simply replied.
"What did the River Vixen do now?" asked Natalie.
"She's been blaming us for raining on her parade at practice today. I mean, we didn't do anything wrong." said Leia.
"And on the other hand, Archie is hiding something from Jughead." Luke added.
The older Hawthorne looked up as Archie and Veronica left the diner before he continued, "And it turns out that Archie is in a secret relationship with Geraldine Grundy, his music teacher. Which I don't know if she's a real person or just an impersonator."
"And does Jughead know about Archie's secret relationship?" Natalie questioned.
"Yeah. He told me that he and Archie were supposed to go on a road trip on the 4th of July, but Archie bailed on Jughead in the last minute. And Jughead had found out why Archie's been acting weird since the summer." Luke replied.
"Natalie! I need your help with an order." Hermione called.
"I'll be right there." said Natalie before she turned back to her kids, "You kids head on home first. Your dad's gonna pick me up later."
"We'll see you later at home, mom." said Leia as she and her brother got up from their seats, picked up their backpacks, and left the diner.
"I am starting to get really suspicious about this Geraldine Grundy individual." said Luke.
"You're not the only one. We need to find out if she's real or just an imposter." Leia agreed.
As the twins returned to their household, they hear a dog barking as it runs up to them. It was a small canine as it jumped up excitedly and tried to lick on their faces.
"Easy there, buddy. Where did you come from?" asked Luke as he petted the dog.
"This is the dog that mom mentioned to us this morning. It looks like dad brought him home while he was out looking for a job." Leia commented.
"Whatever the case is, the dog likes us both already." said Luke.
"I couldn't agree more with you." Leia agreed as she bent down and petted the dog as he ran excited circles around her.
And that will wrap up chapter twelve for today. Luke is the next one to find out about Archie's so called secret relationship. So what did you guys think of the chapter so far? Love it? Hate it? More will be coming soon. The question remains, is Geraldine Grundy a real person or is it an imposter? You guys will have to find that out in the next few chapters. And yes, I will continue writing this series since I'm focused on my other projects at the moment.
