A/N Hey, guys. Welcome back to more of the Riverdale fanfic featuring my OCs. So first off, I hope you guys are doing well and continuing to stay safe out there, wherever you guys are in the world. Second, I started my first year of university a few weeks ago and I almost lost the track of time of when I updated this. But anyway, moving on. This is the thirteenth chapter of the Riverdale fanfic, and in this chapter, Luke has some childhood memories of when he first Josie and Betty and something unexpected happens in school the next morning. So, this is chapter number thirteen, and here we go.

I only own my OCs. All of the other characters, the plot, belong to the rightful owners.

Flashback (Seven Years Ago):

Young Luke ran around the playground with the other kids, who were having fun. He drew his attention to a young girl, who looks about his age, with rich, brown skin, dark brown eyes, and thick, bouncy, curled hair, and the other young girl, who has a pale skin, a blonde hair, and soft washed out green eyes, being bullied by older kids. He quickly ran over to see what was going on. He wasn't about to let the defenseless girls get bullied by the older kids.

"Hey! Leave them alone!" he called.

"What are you gonna do about it if we don't?" the leader asked.

Clenching his fists, Luke punched the leader in the chest, as he began beating the other older kids. His fists hurt like a sledgehammer. Some of the kids gathered around to see what was going on. The older kids' parents ran to see Luke beating them up. Natalie ran over to her son and pulled him away as soon as she saw him beating the older kids.

"Luke! Stop it!" Natalie ordered.

"Your son is harming our children!" the older kid's mother shouted.

"Am I now?" Luke questioned as he pointed to the defenseless girls behind him and yelled back, "Your kid is bullying them and they didn't do anything wrong!"

The other kids started shouting and saying they saw and witnessed the older kids bullying the two girls for no reason at all. Natalie stepped forward as her blue eyes glared at the parents of the older kids.

"Did you raise your own kids to bully others?" asked Natalie.

The parents took a step back, and Natalie wasn't going to let the parents get away for raising their children to bully others. And she would have to talk to her son later after this.

"Tell your kids to start apologizing to those two girls. If you don't, I'll make sure that I will never forget this incident." Natalie warned.

"We're sorry." one of the kids said.

"Say it like you mean it! Say it in a very sincere way!" Luke shouted.

"We're sorry!" one of the kids repeated.

"Get your kids out of here. I don't want to see them around here ever again." said Natalie.

The parents took their older kids away and left the playground before Natalie and Luke could get more angry at them. The other kids went back with their business.

"Sorry you had to see that. I wasn't always like this." Luke said to the two girls.

"You got some bruises all over your hands." one of them pointed out.

"It's nothing. I'll have them cleaned." he said as he looked down at his bruises.

"You really know how to fight." the other girl commented.

"Hey, what are your names?" Luke questioned.

"I'm Josie. Josie McCoy." Josie replied.

"I'm Elizabeth Cooper. But call me Betty." the other girl replied.

"I'm Luke. Luke Hawthorne." he said.

Now:

The next day hasn't been going well for anyone. Out of everyone in the student lounge, Reggie's been bombarding Kevin and Moose with so many questions regarding on Saturday night. Luke stood by the vending machine with his arms crossed, as Reggie had told the group that Sheriff Keller has been grilling him.

"Speaking of offensive tight ends, I should've sent the cops to you, Moose." Reggie remarked before asking, "Because here's another unsolved mystery. What were you and Kevin doing at the river?"

"Or does being with the sheriff's son give you a free pass, Keller?" The ladies' man directed the question at Kevin.

"And you call yourself a ladies man, Reggie?" Luke questioned.

"That's none of your business, Hawthorne." Reggie retorted.

"Really? Because the last time I checked, you didn't whine about being grilled with questions about the death of a golden kid of the Blossom family." said Luke.

"I mean, let's think about it." Reggie said. "If a kid at Riverdale killed Jason, and then threatened Polly; it's not gonna be a jock, right?"

"No, let's be honest. Isn't it always some spooky, scrawny, pathetic Internet troll…too busy writing manifestos to get laid?"

Leia, standing by the wall, clenched her fists. She wasn't about to let Reggie insult Jughead.

"Some smug, moody, serial-killer-fanboy freak. Like Jughead." Reggie finished.

"Watch it, Mantle." Leia warned as her blue eyes met with Reggie.

"What do you know about your emo and loner boyfriend?" Reggie questioned her.

"Hey! My sister told you to watch it, so don't make us push our buttons, Reggie." said Luke.

"What was it like, Suicide Squad?" Reggie asks the loner.

"When you drowned or shot Jason? You didn't do stuff to the body, did you?" he asked.

"Like, after and then forced Polly to leave town?" He added.

"Just shut the hell up, Reggie!" Luke shouted.

"It's called necrophilia, Reggie." Jughead retorted, with a hint of sharpness.

"Can you spell it?" the loner questioned.

"Stay out of it, Jughead. This has nothing to do with you." said Leia.

"You little…" Reggie scowled.

"That's enough, Reggie! You're just making things weird for everyone here." said Luke.

"Hey, shut the hell up, Reggie." said Archie, stepping in and pushing the jock away.

"Boys." said Veronica.

"Right?" Leia agreed, as she pushed the curls out of her face.

"What do you care, Andrews?" Reggie retorted.

"Nothing. Just leave him alone." said Archie.

Luke soon stepped in, knowing what is about to happen. If he gets in trouble, he'll have to deal with it himself later.

"Holy crap." Reggie said with a look of realization.

"Did you and Donnie Darko kill him together? Was it some sort of pervy blood-brother thing?" Reggie questioned.

"Hey! Archie and Jughead didn't do nothing!" Luke shouted.

Fuming, Archie shoves Reggie. Reggie retaliates by pushing Archie up against the snack vending machine, breaking the glass.

"Oh, hell no!" Luke shouted as he interfered and tried to pull Reggie off of Archie.

Reggie then body slams Archie on the floor. Moose, Chuck, and a few other guys rushed over to stop the boys. They pulled Reggie off, but not before giving the red head a punch to the face.

"The hell is wrong with you, Mantle!" Leia shouted as she pushed the jock away.

"That's enough, Reggie! We have a game coming up and you're starting a fight in the middle of the day! Coach Clayton won't be happy when he hears this." said Luke.

Reggie got up and left the student lounge, and Leia's glaring blue eyes never left him, as she watched him sulking away.

"Get Archie to the nurse's office. His dad is going to be in for a surprise when Archie gets home from school." said Leia, as she turned her attention back to her friends.

Half an hour later, Luke and his sister went to their lockers, still feeling angry over Reggie bombarding Jughead so many questions. Getting ready to close the locker, Mr. Weatherbee calls out to them.

"Mister and Miss Hawthorne! I would like to speak to you in my office." Mr. Weatherbee called.

"We'll be right there." Luke replied as he and Leia closed their lockers and went to the office as his gaze met with his sister's blue eyes.

"Have a seat, you two." Mr. Weatherbee ordered.

Grabbing some chairs, and taking a seat in front of the principal's desk, Sheriff Keller started speaking first.

"So, I assume you two had heard about what happened on Saturday night?" Sheriff Keller questioned both teens.

The teens nodded, as their eyes shifted between Mr. Weatherbee and Sheriff Keller.

"Can you tell me where you two were on Saturday night?" Sheriff Keller questioned Leia.

"We were at the Blossom household after the semi-formal. Cheryl invited everyone for the after party. Everything was going well until Betty suddenly left." she replied.

"What happened next?" Mr. Weatherbee asked.

"We went home afterwards. And then, I get a phone call from Kevin and he said he and Moose had found Jason's body in the Sweetwater River. But, he didn't know how the body had ended up there." Luke replied.

"Anything else?" Sheriff Keller asked.

"That was it. We didn't know about anything else." Leia answered.

After answering some questions, the twins left the office and went home. Somehow, they knew when they get home, their parents would be asking them why Mr. Weatherbee and Sheriff Keller wanted to talk to them. Returning home, they take off their shoes as their dog, Thunder barked and ran up to them.

"Hey, buddy." Luke greeted as he bent down and petted the dog.

Thunder ran over to Leia as he tried to jump up and lick her face. Laughing for a bit, she bents down and petted him and rubbed his ears.

"Who's a good boy, Thunder? Who's a good boy?" she questioned.

Just then, Natalie came out of the kitchen, having got a day off. Luke and Leia looked up, and they knew. Their mother was going to ask them some questions.

"We need to have a serious talk, kids." Natalie said sternly.

Going to the living room, the twins sat on a couch, beside their mother.

"Why did Mr. Weatherbee and Sheriff Keller wanted to talk to you kids today?" Natalie questioned.

"They wanted to know about what happened on Saturday night. We told them the truth, and said we weren't around Riverdale on the Fourth of July. We were honest, and they believed us. They decided to let us go, with no more questions being asked." Leia replied.

"How do I know you're not lying to me or your dad?" asked Natalie.

"You and dad raised us to be the honest kids in the family. We wouldn't lie to you, mom. And we just to avoid being grounded." Luke answered.

"Good. But since you two are both honest with me, I will drop it for now." said Natalie.

'We've always been honest with mom and dad since we were babies.' Leia thought.

'Speaking of honesty, Archie needs to come clean. If he does, Mr. Andrews will not take it well at all. And this would ruin Archie's future not just football, but as a musician.' Luke agreed.
