Never trust those smiles
Suzumi Pov
Things just couldn't go the way I wanted them to, could they? The day was almost over, just one more period before the hallways would be bustling with students. I had a little over an hour to make this amazing apology that I had planned in my head a reality. There were just a few problems with that. The most problematic one being that Chi-chan, the person I needed for this to happen, was nowhere to be found. She wasn't responding to my texts, nor had I seen her anywhere during lunch. I was about to full on start panicking when I saw two familiar faces heading toward me.
'Why hello there Suzu-chan.' The one on the left said with a lazy smile.
'That's quite a terrifying look you've got on your face.' Hanamaki-san drawled, 'What's up?'
I smiled when I saw them and shook my head, 'Unfortunately nothing at all. I was going to try and make up with Oikawa today. But I'm afraid nothing is according to plan. So I guess I'm doing a tactical retreat for now.'
'Well we don't want to toot our own horn here, but we're pretty good at problem-solving.'
'How about we help?' Matsukawa-san said.
I sighed and shook my head once more, 'Look guys, I really appreciate it, but I don't want to drag you over to my side. That wouldn't be nice nor fair toward Oikawa.'
'Ah, but you see sweet Suzu-chan, that's where you've got things a little twisted.' The darkhaired male said, 'Oikawa has been really down lately. No one likes feeling sad. You can solve that problem. He'll cheer up again once you two make up. We'll be doing him a favor by helping you.'
'Besides, Oikawa is a real pain in the booty when he's depressed. So basically by helping you, we're actually helping our dearest captain, while also ridding ourselves of a grumpy Oikawa.
'Two stones with one bird.' The wing spiker said proudly.
'That's not how that saying goes.'
'Nah, pretty sure I'm right.' He said.
'No I don't- you know what?' I sighed, already knowing I'd lost, 'Never mind.'
Hanamaki-san grinned, 'Wise choice.'
'So whatcha need?' Matsukawa-san asked eagerly, 'Tell us the plan.'
After briefly explaining everything that needed to be done, I looked at the both of them, 'You got it? I just need you two to stall Oikawa until Chi-chan replies to my texts so we can get everything back on track.'
As if on cue, the two boys looked each other in the eye before turning back to me with those mischievous smiles of theirs.
'We've actually got a better idea.'
'Just let us do the preparations, that'll be way less stressful.'
'I mean, that'd be a huge help, but are you guys sure?' I asked uncertainly.
They both nodded enthusiastically, 'Absolutely!'
'Oh, and also, allow us to suggest a different meet-up spot for you and Oikawa.'
I furrowed my eyebrows, 'Why?'
'You're the talk of the school right now. The locker room is pretty out in the open.'
'So we suggest somewhere a little more… private.'
What they were saying made sense. But the smiles… those devilish smiles. They were nonverbally screaming at me that they were up to no good. Nevertheless I nodded against all better judgement.
'Sure, sounds good.'
After all, how bad could it be?

'So what do you need me for?'
'There's like this crate on the top shelve that we can't reach.'
'We need you to grab it for us.'
'Oh okay, I guess I can do that.' I said as we strolled towards the shed, 'It's unlike you two to want to practice on a day off.'
'Uh yeah, we just kinda felt like it.'
'I've got an assignment I need to hand in real quick, but can I join after I've done that?' I asked, wanting a bit of a distraction. The day had ended way too soon. I'd wanted to hand in my assignment along the way, but the couple had insisted on me helping them first. The two were trailing behind me, Makki carrying both his own bag as well as mine to show his, and I quote, 'grattitude'.
Matssun and Makki exchanged a glance, 'Sure man, no problem.'
I shrugged, thinking nothing of it. We just continued walking to the storage room until I realized something crucial.
'Wait a second.' I said, my mind finally processing what they'd told me, 'You want me to grab something you can't reach? You're both taller than me!'
'Took you long enough to figure that one out.' Makki said cheerfully while opening the door to the storage room.
Matssun came up behind and firmly shoved me into the small, dimly lit space. The second I was fully inside, the door closed and I could hear a soft click, indicating that I had just been locked inside.
'What the hell?' I yelled.
'Sorry, it's for your own good.'
'Don't worry about the assignment by the way,' Makki said, his voice slightly muffled since he was on the other side of the door, 'we'll hand it in for you.'
'What? No! let me out of here!' I exclaimed.
The lock clicked once more, making me think that this was just a little joke of theirs. I fully turned towards the door, which swung open. Before I could take even a single step though, the couple pushed another unfortunate victim inside. The body collided with mine with a moderately loud 'oof' and sent us both tumbling to the floor. The lock clicked yet again, meaning the both of us were stuck here now. Speaking of the both of us… I looked down at the person in my arms. They turned out to be a girl and a damned familiar one at that.
'Suzumi? What are you doing here?' I asked, more than a little confused at this point.
'I-' The blonde stammered bewilderedly, 'I think I just got bamboozled.'
I'd managed to dodge this girl for days. Expertly, if I do say so myself. So how come the girl I was so desperately trying to avoid basically sprawled across my lap? Come on, karma was just playing with me at this point. Well… I couldn't really blame karma for the fact that I'd snugly wrapped my arms around her waist, I'd done that all by myself. But that was just to make sure she wouldn't hurt herself! Yeah, no other reason than that.
I was so sure I'd be able to forget all about Suzumi if I put some distance between us. It would give me some time to work out my feelings. And with 'working out my feelings' I meant, absolutely obliterate them. I would throw my ass into the friendzone before the blonde could ever even utter the word. Then we could make up and be friends again, both comfortably lounging in the friendzone. It was the best idea I'd had in days. Then again, my last great idea had involved kissing the ever living daylights out of my friend, so the bar wasn't that high. However, with her body this close to mine, I could practically see that resolve happily fly out the nonexistent window like I never thought of it in the first place. Which was bad. Really, really bad. I sighed and looked up to the sky for inspiration, only to see the wooden roof of the storage shed. That was locked. I was locked in here with Suzumi.
Shit.
I don't really have anything to write here this week…
So I hope you all have an awesome week! I'll be happy to note that my foot is doing a lot better, if any of you were wondering. I'm really glad for that, I was about to go insane of boredom. That didn't stop me from procrastinating , which let to me having to write this chapter well into the night… again… I dunno, inspiration seems to only hit me like a few hours before I'm meant to upload. Oh well, if it works, it works I guess.
See you again next week!
