Melody's POV:
"He's still the same person, Rose." I told her for the millionth time the next morning. I knew that she was still trying to get used to the fact that her friend had just changed completely, but I'd already explained the entire process to her about a million times, and at this point, it was getting a little too annoying for my taste.
"But the old Doctor would never do this! He'd get up and help us!"
"And right now, he's in a semi-comatose state because he saved all of us! Seriously, would you rather have him dead?"
"I dunno, he might as well be, judging by the fact that he's not spoken a word in the past twenty four hours!"
I sighed. It was really taking me every ounce of my patience to have this conversation without going completely insane. "Okay, think of it this way. If you went and visited yourself when you were eight, would you say that you're both exactly the same?"
"No!"
"But you'd still say that she's Rose Tyler, won't you?"
"Yeah?"
"Exactly! You changed, but you're still you. Same with him, except it's a lot more accelerated. And about the coma thing, I'm assuming he'll be much better now, according to my estimations. Might even wake up soon."
Mickey shrugged. "Hopefully, yeah. We need him to help us with these Sycorax or whatevers. I mean, Liza seems to know what's happening but she was pretty clear that the Doctor was supposed to be priority number one." The door to Jackie's room opened, and I leaned up. "That must be Beth- hopefully she's gonna tell us all that he's awake and causing a fuss as usual."
It was Beth- but something wasn't right. She walked towards us, her face blank. Rose turned to her, "Is the Doctor alright?"
She ignored her and continued to walk forward, towards the front door. "Liza?" Rose called out. I frowned and stood up as she reached the door. "Beth? What happened?"
Outside, a woman was yelling at a man to stop as Beth opened the door and started to walk outside. "Beth, what the hell?!" I ran behind her. "Liza!" Rose came behind me.
Outside, a man was walking in the same direction as Beth was, and a woman was running behind him, pleading him to stop. Rose turned to the woman as I ran behind Beth. "Beth, where are you going?!" My hearts started beating faster. She seemed to be headed in the general direction of the staircase. Many other people were walking in that direction too- mothers, sons, fathers- and everyone else who lived in the house were running behind them, yelling at them to stop, their voices a mix of fear and confusion.
"Melody, what the hell is happening to them?" Rose caught up to me, "Sandra said that Jason wouldn't stop either."
"I don't know!" I pulled out my scanner from my pocket, walking really fast to stay in pace with Beth. "They're all being controlled, but I dunno how!"
Beth started climbing the staircase towards the roof, and I followed her. If she jumped- this was early days. She'd die, or be maimed at best. And the Doctor- he'd never forgive himself. If anything happened to Beth- I swallowed. This isn't the time to think about that. There's a high chance she could be perfectly alright. I turned on the scanner, but was pushed by someone else trying to climb the staircase- another emotionless blank person.
"Melody, what'll happen if she jumps?!" Rose exclaimed from behind me. "What if they all jump?!"
"I don't know!" I wanted to scream in frustration, to get inside a vacuum and yell there and start throwing things around. But then again, I wanted to figure out what the hell was going on without risking anyone's life. Especially Beth's. The future would be completely rewritten if anything happened to her, and I wasn't prepared for that.
We were among the first people to reach the roof. I ran in front of Beth, trying to scan her. "Liza, you're being controlled!" Rose yelled, trying to shake Beth's arm, but she was just moving forward, ignoring all of us. "Snap out of it, you could die!"
I still wasn't able to get a proper scan of her as she was constantly moving. Others started to come on the roof as well and the whole place was a cacophony of people yelling at other people to stop walking towards the edge of the roof.
"Liza!" Rose ran forward and attempted to hold Beth back. "Liza, stop, you could kill yourself!" No response. "Liza!"
Beth reached the edge of the rof along with the other hypnotised people. Rose was yelling at her to stop, and I tried holding her back as well, but she brushed us off. She was almost at the edge of the roof, ready to jump. "Liza!"
"No.." I whispered, my hearts beating faster than ever and constricting the movement in my chest. My breaths were ragged, and tears were already making their way onto my face, the lump in my throat extremely sharp and painful. "Beth, no!"
And then, she stopped. And so did the others.
The Doctor's POV:
The first thing I saw when I woke up was Jackie Tyler asleep on my stomach. Actually, no, it was the ceiling. Great yellow ceiling. Jackie was on my stomach and I knew she was there, but I didn't know how I knew. Well, I did, but it got away from me. Her head was heavy on me, that's how I knew. But how? And since when did I forget words? Blimey, this was absolutely fan- fant- how did that word go again? I always said it before, how did I not know it now? Was it a neural implosion? Nah- I'd not been disturbed by anyone. Hopefully.
I looked down and saw a huge blonde head on my stomach. Good old Jackie- falling asleep on me. Wait- that was bad. Sorry, wrong word. No wait- what? My brain was definitely mushy mush thanks to regeneration. Mushy- that was a fun word to say! Mushy. Mushy. Mushy.
I poked Jackie's head. She didn't wake up. I poked her head again. And again. And again. And again. This was fun! And her hair was so soft- I wondered what shampoo she used. Probably Head and Shoulders- that's all everyone was talking about these days. Lucky idiots with hair- oh! I have hair now. I could use Head and Shoulders! And I could talk about Head and Shoulders!
I continued poking her head when she shot up. "Oi, what the hell are you doing?!"
"Is that Head and Shoulders?" I pointed to her hair. She crossed her arms, glaring at me. "I said, what the hell are you doing?!"
"I'm asking you if that's Head and Shoulders, am I supposed to keep repeating myself now?"
"I'm talking about you poking my head, you dummy!"
"Oh, that!" I tilted my chin- oh, that's' where Liza got that habit from! I grinned at the thought of it, and got a pink pillow on my face. I pouted, "What was that for?!"
"Doctor, you're awake!" Ricky came bursting in. Wait, no, Mickey. Right? That was his name. Mickey. Or was it Ricky? It was some -ickey, but which one?
"Hello Mic-Ricky!" I waved at him, grinning. He rolled his eyes. "Alright, this isn't the time for me to correct you calling me Ricky again-"
"So your name's Mickey, then?"
"Yes, but like I said, this isn't the time! Rose said that I was supposed to be taking you outside the moment you woke up."
I frowned. "She wanted me gone the moment I woke up?" Blimey, she must really hate me then. At least Liza didn't. Hopefully. I mean, she was acting really weird back at the TARDIS. Maybe because she was sleep deprived- I looked beside me. I turned back to Mickey. "Where's Liza?"
Ric-sorry, Mickey facepalmed. "That's exactly why she wants you outside! Liza walked out earlier along with a bunch of people some time ago and still hasn't come back!"
I straightened up, frowning. "The hell are you talking about?"
"According to the news, she and a bunch of other people are all on the roofs of high rise buildings- standing at the edge." My eyes widened. No. I threw the sheets off me and jumped up. "Like they're about to kill themselves?!"
"That's what they all think, I dunno! They've all just stopped- Doctor!" I was running towards the door. She couldn't- not now. I couldn't lose her. Not again. Not after I almost did.
I ran past the corridors and the stairs, trying to calm myself down and try to think positively. They all stopped, maybe that was a good thing. But what if they all jump down now? I dashed onto the roof, looking around frantically for Liza. And the others, of course.
I ran towards the edge, just as Melody was turning back, staring at what looked like a fifty-first century scanner. Liza was standing next to her, seemingly staring into space. I ran towards them. Melody seemed to sense me coming, and she pulled Rose out of the way as I practically barrelled towards Liza.
I had to be held back by Melody so that I wouldn't fall down the roof. I brushed her hand away and turned to Liza, who was staring ahead blankly. I placed my hands on her shoulder and slowly looked at her. She looked- empty. Like she was a robot. Her eyes were glassy and showed no emotion, unlike her usual self. I swallowed, trying to ignore the oncoming panic attack that was slowly surfacing.
I turned to Melody, who was staring at her scanner. I snatched it from her and looked at the results. I sighed in relief. At least something was somewhat positive. "Blood Control."
"Thank God," Melody sighed, closing her eyes for a moment.
"What?" I turned to Rose. "They're controlling her through her blood." I looked at everyone on the roof. "You know, I bet my life that everyone who's being controlled here has an A-Positive blood group."
"Why?" Jackie and Mickey had caught up with me. Jackie looked beyond me at Liza. "What happened to her, why's she standing like that?!"
"She's being hypnotised. If I find the bastards who did this-" At that moment, a huge sonic wave hit us. I closed my eyes, placing my hands over my ears as the glass on every building shattered around us. The wave was above the human hearing range, but Melody and I could hear it. I closed my eyes tightly, trying to drown out the noise. Damn my stupid enhanced post regenerative abilities.
I opened my eyes again once the nightmare was semi over. I went to see Liza again. She seemed to be alright- well, she looked exactly as she had right before the sonic wave.
"Doctor, what was that?" I turned to Rose, and pointed up. "Sonic wave. An alien ship is making its way into the atmosphere."
True to what I said, a huge black, disfigured ship soared above all of us. Looked like it was made of rock- very terribly cut rock. I remember seeing it somewhere- ah! The Haldrojassic Wetlands! "They're the Sycorax." I murmured, and Melody said, "Yeah. They hijacked the space probe Earth sent."
I narrowed my eyes. "That's how they got the blood."
"That's the only logical explanation."
I looked down again and clapped my hands, "Come on then. We have an alien ship to go to."
"I'm not going anywhere!" Jackie exclaimed.
I rolled my eyes. "Jackie, this isn't the time- listen to me."
"No, you listen to me! Sure, you're gonna go break their control or whatever, but you won't be here when she wakes up, will you? Someone'll have to be there then! Poor girl could be traumatised, for all you know!"
She did have a point. "Right then. Rose, Mickey, Melody-"
"I'm staying here too." Melody said. "I'm not leaving here without Beth- also we need another Time Lord here in case things go south."
I tilted my chin again. "Yeah, that makes sense. Anyway, you two, with me. Now." I ran towards the exit and down the stairs. Once I was outside the building, I scanned our surroundings. Good, the TARDIS was still there.
I ran towards the old girl, her doors opening by themselves as I entered. Looks like she understood the urgency of the situation as well. Good old Sexy. I sprinted to the console and turned on the time rotors. "Rose, I'm gonna need you to hold down that lever for me." I gestured to the one closest to her. She ran and obliged as I punched in the coordinates for the spaceship.
I pulled the lever that was used to increase speed. I had to get there as soon as possible. For Liza to be safe. I tried to stop thinking and worrying about her as I ran around the console at top speed, trying to pilot all the controls at once. "Come on, then! Move faster!"
I managed to intercept the signals at the Sycorax ship as a bonus. Their droning on was filling the background as I attempted to make the TARDIS go faster than she already was, which seemed to really tick her off. She didn't protest, however, which was very much appreciated. The Sycorax leader then said something very interesting. Looks like the TARDIS had alerted them and they demanded her on board. Very well then. They got their wish.
As I walked towards the door, a brown overcoat on the railing caught my eye. Where did that come from? Whatever, if the TARDIS thought I should have it, it was probably important. I put it on and opened the doors.
I was face to face with a bloke who looked like the Sycorax leader. He lashed out a huge whip at me. Bloody hell, I really didn't have the time for his stupid antics. I caught the whip with one hand and threw it aside. "Don't." I said warningly.
"How dare you!" He came running to me with a huge club. Seriously, wasn't that warning enough?! I snatched the club and broke it. "I said don't!"
"Who exactly are you?!" The Sycorax leader demanded. I turned to him, glaring. "I'm the Doctor. The Lonely God, the Oncoming Storm, call me what you like, but this planet's under my protection. And you've just done something that's made me very cross. So I think it's best you leave this planet alone and get the hell out of here."
"And why should we do that?"
"Because I said so. And because you're breaking the intergalactic law. Because you see, this is a level five planet, meaning you're unauthorised to invade this place. But that's not even my biggest concern. And then of course, you're planning on destroying this planet by taking over it- one which I've put a lot of work into, but that's not all either. You've done something that's made me angrier," I walked around, looking around to see if the trigger to the blood control was anywhere. "Because you see," I turned to the leader, pointing at him, "You've hurt someone I care about. Someone who means the world to me, and if you think I'll let that go, you're wrong! I've defeated the Daleks, multiple times, I've destroyed civilisations, many cower when they hear my name!" I turned to him again, "You know, in some places, I'm exclusively called the Oncoming Storm, and you've just unleashed it!" I yelled. The Sycorax leader took a step back, genuinely astounded.
"These people are mere cattle, clever Doctor. I can destroy one third of their population by pressing one button!" He walked over to a pedestal and placed his hand over a red button. So that's where the trigger was. I turned to him. "Do it then."
"Doctor-" Someone behind me exclaimed. I turned around to see who it was. Harriet Jones, MP for Flydale North- well, she looked a lot more important than that at this point. I held up a hand and turned back to the leader, who was still holding his hand above the button. "You dare?"
I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. I told you to do it, I don't care."
"Doctor, I really think-"
"Shut up!" I turned around to Harriet, "Shut up and let me do the talking!" I turned back to the Sycorax leader, who was still holding his hand above the button. Spineless coward. All he gave were empty threats. "And you! I just told you to press the damn button! If you're so keen on displaying your power, why not do it? Or do you want me to do it?"
"I will kill one thirds of the population of your beloved planet!"
"Will you really? Or are you just trying to hold an empty threat above our heads?" I sprinted to the pedestal and pressed the button. All the humans downstairs screamed and gasped in shock, while the Sycorax leader gaped at me. "You just killed a third of the cattle I was going to kill."
I leaned in front of him. "Did I really?" I turned to the rest of the ship. "Or did I just end up freeing them from your blood control?!" I turned back to the leader, who looked down. "We allow them to live." I almost sighed in relief. Liza was alright now. Hopefully.
"Allow?" I raised an eyebrow. "You allowed them to live? I think you mean that you just couldn't let them die! You'd have needed something stronger in order for that to happen, and I'd like to think you don't have technology advanced enough to do that." Thankfully.
"Blood control was just one form of conquest. I can summon the armada and take this world by force."
"Oh, you wouldn't want to do that." I placed my hand in my pocket, hoping that the TARDIS had my back. "If you want to see the light of day, if you want to survive, you really wouldn't do that. In fact, you'd leave them alone."
"Or what?" Ugh. Stupid lizard. He really picked a bad day to mess with me. I pulled the sword whose hilt I'd gripped from my pocket, and ran towards the TARDIS, holding it up. "I challenge you."
A/N: Hey guys! How is everybody? I hope you're all doing fine :). Anyway, what did you guys think? I've not seen many fics where the OC is under the blood control thingy and wanted to try it our myself- I hope it came out fine. And since I'd already thrown cannon out the window, I was like "Why not?" (actually, I'd been planning the blood control thing for quite a while- making the Doctor wake up sooner than usual was a last minute decision).
Anyway, idk what else to say, so I guess this is goodbye then. For now lol (also I'm so sorry 'rude and not ginger' didn't come up in this chapter, he was too angry for that).
