"What are you doing out here?" Hermione asked quietly, her voice husky from sleep. He smiled when her arms wrapped around him from behind, joining to rest on his stomach as she rubbed her cheek on his back. "I woke up and you weren't there."

"I couldn't sleep," Remus replied, keeping his voice quiet to as not disturb the peace that came with the early morning. "Figured I'd watch the sun rise."

"Without me?" He could hear the pout in her voice and his grin widened at the imagery. He gave a tug on her hands, causing her to unwrap them from around him, to bring her in front of him and inside the circle of his arms. She snuggled back into his chest as they looked out over their porch, taking in the sunset in the early morning and the stirrings of nature getting ready for their day.

"I love you," he breathed, burying his face in the mess of curls on her head. "I love you so much."

"I love you too," she replied, turning to look up at him. "You've got me," she vowed. "Forever. You'll never be alone again," she told him, letting him know that she knew exactly why he'd been up so early, leaving her in their bed.

Stupid nightmares were the worst. Even know, years had passed since he'd ever been truly alone, but when sleep took over, even with Hermione in his arms, breathing against his neck, she wasn't enough to keep away the horrors that returned, reminding him that people could leave, taunting him. They'd left once before, unwillingly sure, but left him still the same.

"I'm too stubborn to lose you at this point," she added.

He smiled softly, leaning down to press a soft kiss to her forehead.

"Let's head back to bed," he offered. "You can remind me of how lonely I'm not."
