"What are you reading?" Sirius asked, sitting down on the bench opposite Remus in the Great Hall.

"Nothing," Remus replied instantly, closing the magazine and trying to hide it under the table, but he wasn't quick enough. Siruis snatched it and leant back when Remus tried to reach forward to grab it.

"10 ways to know that the man of your dreams is interested in you," Sirius read, his teasing drawl slowing as he took in the words. "Moony… are you-?"

"No!" Remus exclaimed. "No. Not that there isn't anything wrong with swinging differently, I'm just not." His words sounded feeble at best.

"Because I'm bisexual, you know this, and if anyone can tell you if a man is interested, it would be me."

"I know Pads," Remus sighed. "I just-" He sighed, rubbing his hands on his face. It was embarassing to say aloud. "If it works for girls to know if a guy is interested, then surely the signs are the same, right?"

Sirius stared at him, not even blinking, before scrunching up the magazine and shaking his head.

"Hell no! It is definitely not the same." Remus slouched. "Girls bat their eyes, twirl their hair, giggle at jokes that are definitely not worthy of a giggle. They sit a bit closer than needed, find excuses to touch you, their friends with look at you and giggle for no apparent reason."

"How do you know all this?" Remus asked. Sirius raised an eyebrow before motioning up and down at himself. "Okay, anyway, they all sound like girly girls, what about a less girly girl?"

"Similarities and variations of all of the above. If a girl likes you, you'll know."

"I obviously don't know, hence the magzine," Remus muttered bitterly.

"Care to share who the girl is and I can keep an eye out and let you know?"

"No, it's okay," the werewolf replied. "I probably shouldn't get my hopes up anyway. Monthly things are always likely to put a dampener on things."

"Any girl worth her magic wouldn't give a flying fu-"

"Okay!" Remus interrupted. "But it doesn't stop the majority of people still caring."

The two lulled into a contemplative silence as they focused on eating their breakfast, only to be joined a few minutes later with the rest of their group.

"Morning Remus," Hermione greeted, tucking a curl behind her ear as she sat down next to him. "How are you today?"

"I'm well, thank you, and yourself?" he asked, almost losing himself in the amber of her eyes.

"I'm good," she said, smiling softly at him before turning to prepare a light breakfast. Remus looked away from the witch, only to catch eyes with his best friend. He chose to ignore the pointed look and eye waggle he was being given. He turned back to the conversation that was being told from James of how he was planning a love declaration to Lily in their Charms class later on.

"How charming," Remus commented sarcastically, ignoring the dramatised response from his friend and choosing to focus on the light giggles from Hermione. When she noticed him looking at her, a faint blush covered her cheeks and she tucked another curl behind her ear, ducking her head slightly to look up at him from beneath her lashes.

Maybe Sirius was onto something after all.
