A/N: Hello everyone! Here's another update on Call My Name.
I do realize Levi here is different from what was depicted in the anime and manga. He's supposed to be cold, quiet, man of few words and plain no nonsense type of person in the Scout Regiment. No smiles, no chuckle, and nothing depicting him to be warm and nice.
I happened to stumble upon this post in reddit, stating Levi is the most miserable character ever in Attack on Titan, and it broke my heart. He was forced to join the Scout Regiment, lost his two closest friends, then lost his entire team to the Female Titan, and again betrayed by Zeke and forced to decimate his soldiers when they are transformed into Titans.
Because of that, I thought of wanting to give the poor man a little happiness here, something or someone that won't go through too much misunderstanding with him, and instead, to have someone that would understand him. And even if the whole world sees him as the cold, quiet man, at least in here, a handful of people will see through his cold persona.
A toast to everyone who loves Levi Ackerman.
Stay safe everyone.
Love,
A.615.
Kapitel 16 – Body and Soul
There was no breakfast in Levi's room today.
Because today is the day where Eren's fate is decided, and today is the day Freya insisted on having breakfast in the mess hall.
Today is the morning where she felt great and confident enough to walk just fine.
With the lovely cane.
Freya's eyes strayed towards the walking cane resting by the chair and smiled.
Lovely.
Levi saw that gaze and sighed, promptly lifting the walking cane to stow it somewhere far away from Freya for now.
"I've already arranged Emma to bring breakfast up-"
"In an hour's time, Heichou," Freya interrupted in a respectful tone, not wanting to set off the fireworks from her Captain in this lovely, beautiful morning. Her eyes remained on the walking cane in Levi's hand, her hand reaching out to grab it from Levi's hand. "Emma will only bring them up in another hour. We can go downstairs to have breakfast because I couldn't help but to notice your teapot is empty, Heichou, and your stomach and mine is making noises already.
Levi scoffed and twirled the walking cane in his hand expertly out of her reach, raising an eyebrow to Freya and narrowed his eyes before he questioned, "Can you even get your own tray?"
That point goes straight to the heart. Freya bit her lips and looked elsewhere immediately.
She has almost recovered fully, but the limp is still there. She still need the walking cane for a good while and Levi taking it away from her to proof his point made her feel a little angry.
Just a little.
Tiny bit. Annoyed. With the Captain.
Levi scoffed even louder when she has nothing to return the intentional jab and smirked to himself. This should keep her quiet for now until Emma brings up the breakfast. Perhaps he can get some cadets to get the breakfast earlier from Emma to pacify her.
She was opting for the idea of giving in to him when she heard him scoff.
That ticked her off.
"Please pass me the walking cane, Heichou," Freya said firmly this time, her hand reaching out for the walking cane in Levi's hand. His eyebrow twitched before he decided to raise the walking cane higher in the air.
Freya frowned. Limping towards him, Freya reached towards the walking cane raised high in the air, only to grab thin air when her Captain raised it higher.
It was then she realizes the hard truth – she really is short.
One hand on his shoulder, Freya tried to use his body as a leverage in order to reach higher. Levi sneered at her mockingly. "You seriously thought you can get the walking cane from me like this?"
For the second time that day, Freya frowned.
This time, she took it as a challenge from her Captain.
With all her might, Freya pushed Levi backwards into the bedroom, screaming out a war cry and hoped the walking cane raised high up in the air in his hand will get knocked off by the beam of the bedroom door. Levi, on the other hand, sees through her tricks and wrapped his free arm around her waist, reversing their position.
Freya's foot got caught in between twirls. Surprised, she stumbled backwards and hit the side table in the middle of the room, the one that Captain Levi use to set his teacups. She twisted out of Levi's grip to salvage the cups from falling.
Levi saw the table tipping along with the teacups on it, and had wrapped one arm around her waist when she twisted out of his grip. He knew the teacups are doomed, and willing to forgo them for her. At that moment, there was nothing else on his mind apart from being afraid of her stumbling on her foot again and fall onto where the broken teacups lay scattered on the floor.
Freya thought of saving the teacups, but Levi pulled her back.
The inevitable happened.
The whole set smashed onto the floor alongside the side table. Broken porcelain cups flew everywhere in the room, whilst the heavier teapot merely broke into halves.
"Are you an idiot?" Levi reprimanded angrily. "You could have gotten hurt!"
She couldn't hear anything right now. Her heart pounded so hard in her chest she could only feel her heartbeat in her ears. In her mind, the main concern lays in the teacups.
Those are Captain Levi's favourite teacups. The repercussion for that may be greater than what she can anticipate.
Panic sets in Freya's heart upon the realization that this situation may look more serious than it is. Immediately, Freya crouched down to pick up the broken pieces.
Challenge and walking cane forgotten; Freya immediately apologises.
"I'm so sorry, Levi Heichou. I'm so sorry, I'll get you a new one. I promise. I didn't see where I was going and I bumped into the table," Freya mumbled apologetically, picking up the bigger broken pieces by hand carefully and dropped them into the halved teapot. She knew these were the captain's favourite set of teacups. By all means, he should and would be very angry.
Levi, on the other hand, had a myriad of expression and feelings going through him at the exact moment.
For her to break his favourite teacups, he ought to feel angry, frustration, or at the very least, annoyed and irritated. But he surprised even himself when he didn't feel any of that sort.
At least, not the ones he expected he would feel.
In fact, it was quite the opposite.
He felt guilt.
He goaded Freya into this. He knew she had wanted to walk on her own, to not want to trouble him any further, and hoped she will recover quickly enough to give back his bedroom to its rightful owner. And he had seen how her eyes shined whenever she looked at the walking cane, her fingers itching to reach towards it whenever she thought he isn't looking.
He knew. He knew all along. She just didn't want to trouble him. And perhaps, deep inside, she is bubbling with frustration on her own vulnerability.
"Leave it," Levi said coldly, annoyed with how things worsened in a split second. He didn't want these to happen. "I'll get the cadets to clean them up."
"I wanted to walk, Heichou," she snapped, frowning in frustration as she looked down on the ground. Her heart pounded as she felt anger boiling up within her heart. Fisting her hand, she answered as best as she could without making it sound as if she's telling off her Captain. After all, it was she herself that she feels frustrated at, not anyone else. "At this rate, I'll be a cripple. I…I just need to…to walk on my own again, to start training perhaps, and to…to not always need you to back me up-"
Suddenly, her chin got jerked up by a hand that pulled her eyes away from the view on the wooden floorboards unceremoniously.
Only to meet her Captain's icy gaze staring angrily into her own.
"Look at me when you talk, Walker," Levi chided, his voice a cold monotone sweeping the room into instant silence. "You're the Captain's Secretary. Act like one."
Freya brushed his hand away from her chin and continue to pick up the broken teacup pieces, "I'm really sorry, Heichou. For all the troubles I've caused."
He sighed. "Leave it there, Freya," Levi ordered again in a softer tone when she continues to ignore his order and pick the broken pieces.
"Let me," Freya insisted, frowning and biting the insides of her cheek when she feel tears welling up in her eyes. Now is not the time, Freya chided herself. Now is really not the time.
Levi's last conscience control snapped.
"I said, fuck it…" Levi muttered angrily and stood up quickly to grab a hold of her wrist, yanking her up roughly to him.
Surprised, she squeaked a respond out and stood up, following the direction where he had pulled her and thrust out one open palm to find leverage and stops her body from crushing into him.
That leverage is none other than Levi's rock-hard muscled chest.
"Oh Maria, I'm sorry, Heichou!" Freya said, hot red blush coloured her face almost instantly at the realization of her touching the captain like this.
Wait, Freya thought for a moment. We touched plenty of times. On the horse, the medicine, him carrying me. Why am I embarrassed now of all times?
It felt nice to touch his body, and he feels so pleasantly warm, bordering to hot. Not to mention despite him frowning at her, he really is a very good-looking man. Did anyone ever tell him that? Or he just knew?
Or nobody ever bothers to tell him how seductive he looks whenever he frowns?
As those thoughts passed through Freya's mind, she slapped herself internally.
Levi had half the mind to throw her out of his room and get her to sit outside before all these mess are cleaned. Never mind his favourite teapot at that, some things are not meant to last forever and he knew it. He could always get himself a new one with all the new teapots in the market.
However, none of those came out of his mouth, and he felt them go dry as he observes the small woman who had her wrist in his tight grip now. They were so close, and he could feel her soft body inches from his, as if enticing him to just touch her.
Or take her as he please.
He was briefly reminded of last night. Of how soft her lips felt against his, how warm she is, and how nice she smelled.
He just didn't realize while his mind was elsewhere, his pupils begun to dilate, and all of these was observed by Freya staring up at him in misunderstood fear.
His mind and body wages war against each other in contradiction of the situation – his body wanted her, his mind however, were on the losing side of logical thoughts.
Now is not the time, his logic told him.
But now is the time, his body tells him.
It is now, or never.
"Levi-Heichou?" she calls again, her doe-eyes stares widely up at him, worried about him scolding her on the broken teacup sets. Though he might just say he could buy another one, but she sees him often enough with this teacup pattern to guess that he loves this one a lot. "I'm sorry about the teacups, but is everything alright?"
Levi's eyes snapped back up to hers in split second, as if he was lost in thought before she called him out of his reverie. His eyes glanced down quickly to her lips, then back to her eyes, then to her lips again.
Freya gulped.
"W-what is it, Levi-Heichou?" she stuttered. She saw his eyes darkened, as if he just came to a conclusion about something.
About demoting her? Firing her? Oh, no, Freya thought to herself in fear. Anything but the Washers.
But, it wasn't that.
Of all the deduction she could do on Erwin and the others, she had constantly misunderstood Levi to an extreme extent.
This, was one of it.
"Fuck it," Levi muttered harshly before leaning down and crushing his lips to hers in a molten hot kiss, one hand sliding behind her neck and cupping the base of her skull. Surprised with the sudden action from him, Freya squeaked and instinctively pushed at him to get away, thinking in half a millisecond that if she offers up a form of protest, he will stop what he is doing and steps away from her.
It was a wrong move.
With Levi, the more she struggles, the tighter his grip on her becomes.
Grabbing at the hand that is giving him a push on his chest, he moves forward to her forcefully, causing her to walk backward with his body and steps maneuvering her. Finally nailing her to the wooden wardrobe behind her with one hand trapped and held beside her head, he angles his face and kisses her deeper, groaning at how soft and yielding her lips are to him.
In the midst of passion, he didn't forget her back injury and took care to prop her against the wardrobe with his elbow on the wardrobe and hand on the back of her head.
Taking the opportunity of her gasp of surprise when she is backed up to the wooden wardrobe, Levi coaxed her to open her mouth wider by using the hand holding her head to tilt her chin up with his thumb to his height. Sliding his tongue into her open mouth, Levi crushes his body to hers and releases her wrist, opting to utilize both hands to forcefully pull her face and body closer to his height.
The sound of his hot breathing and masculine groan against her mouth as well as the feeling when he slides his tongue into her mouth did her no justice as she soon succumbs to his passionate kiss. Her heart started to pound harder as she realizes what actually is happening.
Levi is kissing her.
For real.
And judging by how tight he's holding her to his body, this wasn't a dream.
With him being so close to her, she has no chance to move neither her body nor her arms. All she could do was to respond back to him and gripping on his shirt tightly as she feels her heart pounded so hard it gives her a feeling akin to euphoria.
A strange feeling starts to coil deep within her body, and a slippery feeling of wetness between her legs caused her to moan when he wrapped one arm around her waist, pulling her even closer to his body. His heart pounded beneath her palm, and his body is steaming hot to the touch.
And that is when she felt something hard and male pressing up to her stomach.
One hand gripping his muscled chest while the other gripped the hem of his shirt, Freya felt Levi slowly starts to slow down his fervent attack on her lips. Through their closeness, she could feel his heartbeat, which pounded against her chest hard and fast. His breathing slowed, and slowly, his lips slowly stopped moving against her.
Releasing her lips, Levi closed his eyes and maintained their proximity, leaning his forehead against hers and sighing deeply in content. In an un-Levi way, he gently gazes at her, who was so stunned her eyes still has a sort of glazed overlook. "I'll stop here for now. I'll end up taking you if I continue any longer…"
"Heichou…" Freya calls to him softly, dazed, still trying to take in the fact that Levi had just kissed her senseless moments ago. "H-Heichou…"
Smirking, Levi whispers back to her and nudged her nose with his, sending his cool breath fanning against her face. "I suppose you are entitled to call me by my name now, Teacup."
"B-but…" she started, biting her bottom lips in an uncertain way. Her eyes darted up to his timidly whilst trying to avoid his gaze. After the kiss, she didn't think she couldn't look into his eyes so soon. She didn't think- didn't know, that's more like it. She didn't know he…
He…
She was…surprised. A happy surprise.
"You're my superior…a-and, I j-just broke your favourite teacup…"
Levi gave her a bored look and sighed. "I just kissed you."
Freya immediately lowered her eyes to his chest, afraid of blushing again under his scrutiny. She fingered a stray lint there out of nervousness. Levi noticed this small action of hers, and finds it endearing. But the sight of his chest and bare neck does not help much as well. He was still in his grey shirt, sans his signature white cravat on his neck and his jacket.
"Then…" Freya said timidly, heart still pounding from their kiss just now. In fact, she felt a little dizzy that things doesn't work logical anymore with her thoughts. "Then…Why do you do that?"
"I think that is supposed to be the first question you ask, Teacup," Levi said, chiding her by lightly knocking his forehead against hers. He twitched his lips when she pouted from that move unconsciously.
Levi sighed and drew her in with his arms, trapping her in his embrace softly. Her eyes widen in surprise and shock, like a frightened cat frozen in stupor. "I can start to tick off the Wish List already…I've accomplished 2 today."
Freya snapped her head up and stares at him with her doe-eyes. Levi could not resist those doe-eyes and brushed a stray hair from her face with the back of his fingers. "Wish List?! You have a Wish List with me?"
"As a matter of fact, I do, Freya," Levi said to her, sliding his fingers into her ponytail and admires her smooth cool locks of hair before lifting them up to his lips, kissing them gently. "3, ticked off."
"J-Just…" Freya started, flabbergasted with the 'List' that Levi had just mentioned. She didn't even know this 'List' existed! Levi leans in closer to her and uttered a soft and deep "Hmm?" to her teasingly, smirking handsomely above her and adored every moment when she turns red under his scrutiny. Swallowing hard, she stuttered out a reply under Levi's piercing gaze. "S-since when?!"
Levi chuckled openly now, shaking his head at her being so oblivious to his slow advances. She's so innocent that she actually drove him to snap his resolve and just attack her when she is most vulnerable. Hell, he's been dropping so many hints and she caught none of them. He had a rough gist on the reason why.
She had probably thought she's not worthy enough.
Well, better now than never, Levi thought to himself. This teacup gains admirers faster than I can chase them away.
Deciding to let her guess as a form of punishment for not realizing his true intent towards her from the start, Levi leans down to her and whispers in her ears, noting that she would shiver when his breath tickles her ear. "I have never had a woman ride in front of me on my horse before. The first will always be the last, and in this case, you are the first."
Then end it with a nibble on her earlobes.
She squeaked.
Number 1: Kiss her. For real. (Done. Will do it again.)
Number 2: Tie her up on his bed.
Number 3: Force kiss her. (Done. Will do it again.)
Number 4: Bite her.
Number 5: Make her his woman.
Number 6: Eat her. (Earlobes are soft. Will do it again.)
Number 7: Kiss her hair. (Done. Will do it again.)
CALL MY NAME-CALL MY NAME-CALL MY NAME
Freya knew the Captain Levi was an anti-social man. Not approachable, cold, very straightforward and throw insults with a set of colourful vocabs in his library. His preference is anything describing excrements though, and he rarely shows emotions too. To top it all off, everyone will stay away from him if they have no business with the Captain. Excellent person to be around when you need to ward off annoying gnats and cadets swarming around her when she is alone.
So how in the name of Wall Maria did she snagged him?
Were there any signs?
Freya blinked.
Levi giving out a week's worth of mucking horse shit's duty to a lot of cadets trying to invite her to dinner. Extra eggs at breakfast. Peeled them too. Him carrying her in his arms, and never once she saw him cringe despite his well-known reputation of being a clean feak. Were those signs? Wait, are they even counted as signs? There's a logical reasoning behind every 'signs' though.
Mucking horse shit duty to the cadets because they casually called her by her name instead of saluting her as an officer. Extra eggs at breakfast for her to bulk up for the Three-Dimensional Manoeuvre Device, peeled because he wanted her to eat faster.
Him carrying her in his arms… because… because there's no one else and he told her all the medics are deployed to Trost alongside his Elite Team.
…
Levi. It's Captain Levi. Of course, he would have a logical reasoning behind everything he does.
But really…were those…signs?
He allowed her privileges no one else gets to enjoy. He carried her everywhere she needs to be, he saved her from that bathtub incident, saw her half naked then, and fed her food too when she can't grab the stupid fork.
And…he rode with her on his horse. Carrying her up and down from the horse. In front of everyone.
Freya flamed up at the memories.
Levi had sent someone to retrieve a new set of uniform for Freya that he had ordered a few days ago. Her old one was burned alongside the corpses a few days back, and literally everything she has is burnt. By memory alone, he provided Freya's size and kicked the cadet out of his office as soon as the cadet looked up in shock.
While Freya got dressed for the day in her uniforms carefully, her mind drifted to her memories, trying to dig up anything she has forgotten that could link to the Captain showing her hints from the start.
Hints that he liked her.
She bites her lips.
A knock sounded at the door, jerking her out of her little reverie.
"Are you covered?" Levi asked. He heard the sound of the body harness falling on the floor and quick limping steps before the door was wrenched open by Freya.
"I-I'm covered. Not done yet, but decent enough," Freya stuttered a reply, biting her lips when she glanced up at him. This was a little embarrassing. Her shyness had initially wanted to erupt from within her and just do the hot shy blush maidens usually does after their first kiss.
But she reminded herself firmly that she is the Captain's Secretary, and she has no time to feel shy and trouble her Captain for a simple first kiss shyness issue.
Buck up. Yes. Buck up.
"Good," Levi said with a nod of his head and guided her back into the room. "Come here. I'll help you with your buckles."
"Wha-? W-wait," Freya has no time to react before she was pushed back to stand against a mirror in the room. Levi picked up the fallen harness and put it on her.
"I'll make it loose. You're still recovering. Take it easy today. We have Erwin to back things up," Levi said to her as he helps her wear the harness around her body. "I got the tailors to adjust the harness to fit you better. It should be a good fit now," Levi continued as he adjusted the brown apron on her hips and the harness around her joints. This time, it fitted nicely.
Levi stepped back to admire his work. He nodded his head in acknowledgement and picked up her jacket. "It fits. Good."
The last article of clothing would be her jacket.
Carefully slipping her arm through the jacket, Freya pulled it up slowly so as to not aggravate her back. Levi, on the other hand, nonchalantly helped her to pull the jacket up from behind so it fits snugly on her shoulder.
Though petite, Freya still looks like a woman. Others might pull it off to look like a teenager child, but she looked every bit like a woman despite her small petite stature.
No wonder the other soldiers are smitten with her.
"Oh, thank you, Heichou," Freya said with a smile in the mirror, looking at her Captain standing behind her adjusting her jacket for her. Looking down at her body, she patted the creases out and pulled the jacket to straighten it.
Levi's eyes landed on her neck.
Her hair was braided simply to her small back seeing as she couldn't lift her hand high enough to complete her normal hairdo. There are wisps of baby hair around the nape of her neck that draws Levi's attention to the fair skin behind them.
Call it an instinct. He just could not resist it.
Leaning in, Levi kisses the nape of her neck softly.
Freya squeaked.
"You have people worrying about you, Freya," Levi whispered gently against her skin where he had just kissed her in his usual deep monotone voice. "Don't get hurt. Take care of yourself. Don't worry them so much."
Freya blinked in surprise. Did something happen? She's alright now, so what made him say that? "Heichou…" Freya started, looking up at Levi in the mirror. "Is everything alright?"
Levi opened his eyes and look at the image of Freya staring back at him in the mirror.
She has to know somehow. Might as well she get to know about it now.
Levi sighed. He pulled her hand gently and sat himself on a chair, looking up at her whilst holding her hand in his. "I received a message this morning. Hange said the mouse is nowhere to be found, but suspects they are still within the castle's ground."
It took a while for Freya to process the news. The mouse is still within castle's ground. If it was the looks they are going for, then they have failed when Levi started to use his tub of medicated gel on her. If they were to try again, then it will only mean they will try to do it whenever she is alone.
"Stay with me at all times, Freya," Levi said to her firmly, grasping her hand in hers. "Though right now, you're stable enough to return to your room today. The Officer's floors are safe, but still, take care. I'll be next door."
Freya snapped her eyes back up to his. "T-today?"
Already anticipated her surprise, Levi smirked. "You're always welcomed to stay here with me."
Immediately, Freya blushes. This was a very different invitation than an order for her to stay until she recuperates in his room. This sounded as if he's insinuating something else.
Too fast. This is too fast, Freya thought to herself, mind going into a list of events and possibilities. She knew, something must have triggered Levi to display such affection on what was it?
Levi had an inkling as to what she is thinking right now. There are question marks all over her face, probing on what in the name of Wall Maria did he, Captain Levi Ackerman, Humanity's Strongest Soldier choose this day to kiss her for real.
And he knew, if he just leaves her like this, all that will get him in the end is a panicky Freya.
Yes. He knows it is too soon to show her what he felt for her. Hell, it's not even a month. If he is to explain the situation in a normal way, what he does was basically jumping into the waters without checking if its shallow water or deep.
Too soon to love, too soon to adore, and too soon to understand each other as well.
He closes his eyes. What is he even talking about? He is not normal. No one's guts instinct tells them what to do to stay alive, knowing exactly what needs to be done, and definitely no one else has the same reflexes and strength as he does.
It was his gut feeling that tells him to keep her near him, to keep her safe.
To never leave her.
But telling her all these might just make her more confused. He did not know it well himself, only that it is what he must do, and that this is the best course of action for her. He didn't know why somehow; his gut feeling had included her wellbeing into his instinct. He mused to himself quietly that he will sort out these some day when everything shitty settles down.
Some day.
"The day your Midnight kicked up a fuss," Levi said, deciding to explain when exactly he realizes she is different from everyone else, settling for the time he finds her most beautiful.
Freya blinked when he spoke, his voice bringing her back from thinking all the possibilities that had her Captain act this way with her suddenly. She angled her head in confusion. "What's with Midnight?"
In all his life, he had never heard a voice more hauntingly beautiful than hers. She pacified the horses with her voice alone, and at that town square where they burned the fallen soldiers during the Battle of Trost. She placated everyone's sorrow with her voice and song, and those words in her song gave the soldiers and people the hope and will to go on with their lives without their fallen loved ones.
…
Not right.
No.
Not that moment.
"No. Not that," Levi corrected himself, grasping her small hand in his as he looked up at her bright blue green eyes. "It was you on the fields when I met you and Freiheit. You were alone and washing shirts, then I came up to you because that was my only chance to come and see you on my day off."
He remembered her sweaty forehead, her surprised face when she saw him, and her blushes. They were lovely against the green backdrop of the forest and the white sheets hanging on the drying lines. She had lamented about not being pretty enough to be at the dining hall, and he had told her the truth.
That she had underestimated herself. That no one else could be compared to her.
Pulling her down, Levi ignored Freya's squeak of surprise and wrapped an arm around her waist. He sat her on his lap gently, looking down at her small face before saying, "Did you know I've been searching for you for the past 10 years?"
He watches as she widens her eyes in surprise and ah- yes. That lovely blush came up. He continued before she could interrupt, "Many have your exact description – short-"
"Hey!"
Levi tapped her nose. "Dark haired with light green eyes. And they kept sending someone up that fits the description but wasn't you."
Freya cringed. It must have been an awkward situation for the girls, thinking that they are the one the Captain is looking for. "From what I know, none of them had eyes like mine."
He looked up to her face and admired the pair of peculiar, coloured eyes. It wasn't surprising how they keep bringing back the wrong girls. In certain angles, her eyes looked to be blue green, while under the sun, her eyes looked blueish grey. Leaning in, he rests his forehead against hers and whispered, "Turns out I've been giving out the wrong description. I thought your eyes were green."
10 years. He searched her for 10 years, and she had unknowingly eluded him all these while. But there was one question that bugs her. They only met once at the stable 10 years ago. Once. What reason does he have to search for her?
"Why?" Freya asked timidly.
"Hmm?" Levi hummed, not understanding where she is going.
"Well," she pondered, not knowing how to ask the reason. It would sound very farfetched to say that the Captain fell in love with her at first sight at the barn when they first met, and it would definitely make her sound ridiculous. But she needed to know the reason. "I was wondering, why, Heichou? Why search for me?"
Looking into her lovely face had him fell into silence. Why indeed. He wanted to know that too. But he trusted his gut instinct, and they were never wrong.
Lifting her hand, he places it on his chest, where his heart beats underneath his grey shirt. Freya looked at him silently, waiting for his answer. "I just know I needed to find you, to keep you by my side, where you are safest. There's no words to describe why I feel that way. Perhaps someday, I might be able to understand all these and explain to you properly. My heart might not be mine to give anymore, as I've given it to the Scout Regiment. But you may have my body and soul."
