Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon
I did a lot of writing today and yet doing a story like this which seems like it can go on forever it didn't feel like that much of an accomplishment. I appreciated what I did in my spare time so it wasn't a total waste of a day. Hope you enjoy this new chapter :)
Ardy was exuberant when Logan finally ran up to the field where wild Pokémon explored, sniffed, slept, and of course mingled. On Logan's shoulder was Litten and now between his feet was his Rattata.
"Glad you could make it. Do you know what you have to do first?"
"Make sure Rattata fights a Pokémon just as small as she is?"
"No, first you use your stronger Pokémon Litten, have it use Growl on the first Pokémon you face than switch to Rattata while its weak. You'll thank me later."
As Logan moved to the grass Litten bounced off his shoulders, whiffing his noise into the grass. Then—the grass rustled as a Pokémon prepared to ambush his quadrupled friend.
He was greeted with the unexpected wailing of a Pokémon that sounded like a donkey braying for its mother. The Pokémon he encountered was a Mudbray, and it looked too innocent to want to battle. It was a shame for him or her Litten wanted to battle.
"Litten, use Growl!"
Litten roared and after Mudbray shuddered hearing the loud sound it used Double Kick hitting Litten with two backside hooves.
"Litten, use Growl again!"
Litten took a deep breath and roared. Mudbray once again used Double Kick which was even less effective than the first time.
"Just one more time!"
Logan twirled his arm around like he was an umpire about to say "Strike Three!" then he pumped his arm in the air.
"Litten, use Growl once more!"
Litten roared.
Mudbray used Mud-Slap kicking dirt right in Litten's eyes. Although it was weakened by three Growl's the Mud-Slap hurt just as much as the Double Kick's.
"That move was a Special Attack." Ardy said. "Growl only weakens a Pokémon's physical attack so special attacks are unaffected. I think now is a good time to return Litten back to his PokéBall before it using that move again."
Logan nodded. He raised Litten's unoccupied PokéBall and shouted, "Litten return!" and Litten was back inside. And then Rattata jumped into the fray, only to be kicked in the face by Double Kick. Rattata would've fainted by this—two hits of a super effective move—if Mudbray's attack wasn't lowered.
"This is it. Try to use your Z-Ring to activate your Normalium Z."
Logan whisked his watch out in a flashy fashion. It glowed and that glow was a resplendent for Rattata who was also glowing. It wasn't just his Pokémon, Logan was also glowing like Rattata. It was after they were both glowing that Rattata charged straight at Mudbray. It hit hard, but miraculously Mudbray was still standing.
Mudbray attacked as if it wasn't just hit by a super fast Rattata and raised its front hooves stomping down with the move Stomp. Like Double Kick it was weakened to the point it only nicked away a sliver of Rattata's health.
Ardy was impressed.
"If I were you, I'd capture that Mudbray. He or she might come in handy in some of your future battles." He said.
Logan almost botched that idea by telling Rattata to use Quick Attack, but Ardy was right—Mudbray would make a good addition to his team.
He inhaled, exhaled, flitting with his breathing as he pried out a PokéBall from his belt. He enlarged the ball, pulled it back and hurtled it at the forlorn looking Mudbray. The ball sucked it in, last thing he heard was a little whimper:
"Muddbry."
The ball fell on the ground.
It wiggled once.
It wiggled twice.
And it wiggled a third time...than the ball clicked.
Logan almost couldn't believe it; he captured a Pokémon stronger than Litten or Rattata alone. The first thing he did was squeal in joy, then and skipped up to Ardy to shake him very excitedly, and finally he picked up the ball and twirled around with it.
"We have our third member of our team, Mudbray!" Logan exclaimed in joy.
Litten and Rattata cheered along with him.
Logan was met with a pantomime of applause from Ardy. He was a little cynical about a boy who hasn't even reached puberty being excited capturing his third Pokémon when there were six hundred or more all over the region. Unless, he was only content on capturing six Pokémon to challenge the PokéLeague.
"Good work, but now you have three Pokémon that are very low on health. Maybe you should head back to the PokéCenter for another checkup."
"Yes, yes, we are on our way."
It became a race back the way they came, Rattata in the lead cheating with Quick Attack accelerating her speed. This irked Litten who was in second place, but so long as he could move four feet at a time and be faster than his longer legged trainer he took his losing with stride.
Ardy didn't wait around for Logan to come back. The moment he was so far ahead of him he looked like a Flabébé from how downhill the path trailed, he walked slowly to a tree.
"Ariados, come on out!"
He released the spindly quadrupled Ariados with its intimidating pinchers and spiky horn. He squatted down next to Ariados and whispered something into its nonexistent ears. Once he was finished speaking Ariados used String Shot on the tree trunk. He splayed webs in cursive letters. When finished Ariados and Ardy walked in the opposite direction of Logan.
Dear Kid,
Seeing how much fun you had capturing that Mudbray reminded me of how people I know once felt on their journey. I sacrificed going on that journey to attend to the kids who needed a little help but now their doing fine on their own. I intend to go along back to where I halted my journey and finish it to the end.
Take Care,
Ardy
