Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon

I managed to finish this chapter in just two hours so there might be some mistakes, that being said it motivated me to try playing Pokémon again.

"Litten!"

Although Logan scolded his fiery pussycat for running away, he kept his arms close together so Litten could jump on top and launched upward in a tantalizing airborne skyrocket.

The thief had already reached the peak of the cliff and tried bolting; getting away in the forest where the tree foliage and the frenzied wild Pokémon would help with his escape.

"LIT...TWOOOEE!" Litten roared.

Litten puffed out his cheeks before spitting fiery projectile.

The thief could hear that tiny kitten roar and could feel toasty fire sizzling on the nape of his neck, however, he kept running...and to his vile astonishment, the swarm of tiny fireballs flew straight into the woods.

"Ha!" He laughed in a scoffing away. "Even at close range you couldn't hit me. Maybe with less PokéBalls your trainer will spend more time shaping you to be a tool that can actually hit something."

After the thief hackled, Litten was goaded to land on the cliff but he couldn't move while falling in the air. Fortunately, Logan released Mudbray who brayed in annoyance after Litten landed on his eyes before leaping on the cliff's peak.

"Mudbray, return!"

Mudbray was laser-pointed before being sucked in as Litten waved a paw for his "heroics".

Now that Litten was near the forest, he could dash after the thief and feel good about himself on how he hadn't "missed". From the forest a wild Beedrill with a bump just above its crystalline red eye fluttered over the trees it was nesting in before swarming around the thief who it believed was responsible for assaulting its yellow round head.

The thief's eyes widened and his hands trembled in terror all while Litten stealthily moved between the gap in his legs and snatched his trainers' belt with his teeth, then scurried away leaving the thief to stammer while Beedrill's eyes glared hot with anger.

The thief looked the bug yellow and black striped Pokémon in its two big eyes looking for an ounce of remorse, raised his hand to shake one of its stingers, or to at least look like he wanted to find a peaceful solution.

"Want to be friends?" He asked with an oily voice. "We could help each other steal from-"

But the Beedrill was just being wayward. It was impossible for it to listen to humans even before something was chucked at its head. It buzzed, it raised its lance-esque stingers as if hollering to the sky and eventually used a move; Fury Attack with its large stingers for hands!

Twenty agonizing howls of pain were screamed through the area and that was just the number counting how long it took Litten to scamper to the edge of the cliff before leaping off.

Kitten instinctively grabbed the wooden dais-unintentionally ruining its oratory look but intentionally sliding back to the ground-to be back with Logan.

Litten heard its name being used by the thief in a provocative way. He mostly hollered threats-"Even if I have to swim around this whole island I'll get you back, you thieving-"-ironically not hurting the black and red Pokémon's feelings but making it downhearted and making it wonder...

And yes a Pokémon can think.

'I'm now a human's partner but he hasn't given me a nickname to distinguish me from other Litten's. How can I show my meowster I want to be called something not just 'Litten' all the time?'

Litten finally touched solid ground with his bottom legs and he didn't have to bite on the wood for more than ten seconds before the rest of his paws could feel the grass between his toes, and best of all was the treat offered to him at his mouth's level by his "meowster" Logan.

"You did a good job today. You chased a thief, outsmarted him, saved Rattata, and you did it without even being ordered to. Your a real friend...umm..."

It was at that moment Litten's eyes twinkled at the realization his trainer was trying to think of a different name to call him, but instead of accidentally hurting him with his own indecisiveness he swallowed the treat whole while being careful not to leave a tooth mark on any precious fingers.

After Litten had his treat, Rattata was released from her Pokéball. Rattata, who didn't know that only an hour ago she was taken and that her trainer and fellow Pokémon didn't know if they were ever going to see her again, flinched when Logan and Litten sandwich hugged her both on their fours and Mudbray popping out to nuzzle his underchin on his trainers back.

Rattata felt warm, shielded and crowded...she eventually barked away for everyone to stand not so close:

"RRATTTAAA!"

Logan got the message the most, backing up until he was at least twelve yards away, he unintentionally backed into a man just trailing down the path.

Logan spun around. "I'm sorry!"

The man he bumped into was a wizen looking old man with a flannel green and white golf cap, a woolen yellow sweater, his right eye closed while his other a faded looking blue, and he wore brown trousers with a zipper that had slider's pull clipped in half.

He looked at Logan in a way that was neither happy nor was it concerning until that evil eye look dissolved into a warm, friendly smile.

"It's quite alright. I see you recently captured a Rattata."

Logan didn't feel concern for the older man's mind just from getting a fact wrong; he was just a stranger making an assumption.

"Actually, Mudbray is my newest Pokémon. Rattata is just in a mood...maybe it's a female Pokémon thing."

"Ahhh." He opened his mouth, and although it was scary seeing the toothless inside of a person's mouth it looked bright and healthy. "You've been down Route 4 already. Tell me, have you found any Crabrawler hiding in a tree?"

Logan didn't like correcting this kind old man but he was young, he had to find a reason to correct someone.

"I actually captured Mudbray in Route 3."

"Route 3?" The man was leaning to the right as if his hands were clutching a cane, but since he didn't have a cane and probably had bad knees he just fidget his knees acting startled by this information. "Son, Mudbray's stay in a herd in Route's 4, 6 and 12. If you found that Pokémon in Route 3...something must've happened to its parents."
