Roxy's Reports 25: Kenmochi and Yoroizaka

At Café Matsuo, in the afternoon the next day, following the events of Chapter 54...

Roxy whistled to herself as she went upstairs for her lunch break, programming the steward bot to take over for her in the meantime. With Yuhiro and Arashi having gone to Den Academy for the day, she could do her normal job at Café Matsuo. As Roxy was making her chickpea sandwiches, she thought back on the events that happened recently. How Bohman and Haru appeared to steal Jin's consciousness data, how the azure-overcoated man put Miyu in the hospital, and the news regarding the Cyberse World's destruction.

She had to admit, it was a lot to take in, which was why having a day of normalcy or two would enable everyone to take a break from recent events. Once everyone was recharged and ready to go, they'll be able to go back to the mission with fresh minds. Eventually, Roxy finished the sandwiches before putting them on a paper plate and taking her meal to the living room. She then set up the equipment for typing up the profiles before taking a seat on the couch.

"Testing. Testing..." Roxy muttered on a mic piece. It was connected to her laptop so whatever she said would automatically be typed in, thus enabling handless typing. "Alright. With Yuhiro, Herald, and Arashi not here at the moment, I'll be creating two new profiles on noobs that Playmaker recently dueled." Roxy pressed a button and opened two blank templates before pressing a button at the TV, which showed Kenmochi and Yoroizaka. "To start, these people's names are Ichiro Kenmochi and Jobu Yoroizaka. Kenmochi's name means Straight Sword in Kanji, while Yoroizaka's name means Solid Armour in Kanji. Given their Ace monsters, it makes sense." Words began to appear on the profiles, splitting them apart between the profiles. "Aliases include former delinquents and Go's current friends." More words appeared on both profiles, only they didn't split apart this time.

"Anyhow, both are males and use their real-life identities in the network." Roxy sighed to herself. "Honestly, why do so many people use their real-life identities in the network? First Go Onizuka, then Jeanne Azaria, and now these two noobs? Will they learn that doing this will expose them?" The brief information then appeared on both profiles, as it was practically the same.

"Oh, I almost forgot." Roxy realized, pondering to herself. "The reason why Kenmochi and Yoroizaka were once delinquents was because they did some pretty juvenile acts a long time ago. One time, they harassed a store for protection money, only for them to be caught by cops after said store owner pulled a shotgun on them forcing them to surrender." Words appeared on both profiles in the 'Notes' section, and once again, they didn't separate from one another, as it applied to both individuals. "While in juvey, Go visited the facility, given he was a trouble making orphan once, so he decided to help others find the right path. He lead a rehabilitation program there, with Kenmochi and Yoroizaka being among its participants. Both Kenmochi and Yoroizaka graduated and now they seem to be munity service in a way by teaming up with Go? At least Go still has friends who signed up as bounty hunters like him, but seems he ought to follow his own advice of finding the right path again." More words were added to the 'Notes' section for both profiles, and like before, they weren't separated.

"While Kenmochi is 18 years old, Yoroizaka's 16 years old. Honestly, if the clownish pink afro and the spiky hair doesn't give it away, I don't know what will." She let herself giggle a bit as the information was typed into the computer, separating the info once again. "Kenmochi and Yoroizaka share an apartment with Go since they're bounty hunters for SOL Technologies, which is literally close to the company." Words were typed in the 'Residence' and 'Job' sections in both profiles.

"Anyway, now onto the good stuff." Roxy continued. "Although both Kenmochi and Yoroizaka use Go's old 'Gouki' deck, and I don't need to explain the mechanics on how it works, the way they play it is similar to Go, but at the same time different. This will be explained in the 'Ace Monster' section of the profiles." Her laptop copy and pasted previous info from Go's deck from one of his previous profiles and into the 'Deck' sections of Kenmochi and Yoroizaka's profiles. Roxy then pressed a button towards the TV, which showed Playmaker's duel against Noob 1: Kenmochi.

"Kenmochi's ace monster is known as Gouki The Blade Ogre, a Link 3 monster with 2400 attack points that requires two or more 'Gouki' monsters. His effect enables him to gain 300 attack points for every 'Gouki' monster he points to. Also, by tributing a 'Gouki' monster The Blade Ogre points to, he can make a second time during the Battle Phase. For a Link 3 monster, that's not bad." Words were typed into the 'Ace Monster' section of Kenmochi's profile. "Oh, and Kenmochi's Skill is called Gouki Surge. It lets him target one 'Gouki' monster on his field and enable it to attack all monsters his opponent controls once each. In exchange, Kenmochi can't attack with other monsters he controls for the rest of the turn. Basically, it's a last resort Skill if he's backed in the corner." As Roxy pressed a button on the TV to fast-forward to Playmaker's second duel, which was against Noob 2: Yoroizaka, words were typed into the 'Skill' section of Kenmochi's profile.

"Then there's Yoroizaka's ace monster." Roxy stated. "Gouki The Solid Ogre is another Link 3 monster with 2400 attack points and requires two or more 'Gouki' monsters. Unlike The Blade Ogre, whose attack points increases the more 'Gouki' monsters he points to, The Solid Ogre can't be destroyed by battle or card effects if he's pointing to at least one 'Gouki' monster. His additional effect allows Yoroizaka to target and move one 'Gouki' monster to a Main Monster Zone he points to. By doing this, The Solid Ogre will always have a reinforced defense." Words were typed into the 'Ace Monster' section of Yoroizaka's profile. "Yoroizaka's Skill is also called Gouki Guard, which not only prevents his 'Gouki' monsters from being destroyed by battle or card effects, any battle damage he would have taken is halved as well. Compared to Kenmochi's Skill, which is short-term, Yoroizaka's Skill is long-term because it enables him to survive another turn." Words were also typed into Yoroizaka's 'Skill' section on his profile.

"Let's see. I talked about names, VRAINS ID's, other aliases, gender, age, residence, job, deck, ace monster, skill, LINK VRAINS' history, and notes." Roxy listed, eating her sandwich. "Oh, now I'm on Duel Grades at last! This doesn't need much thinking to be honest. Both Kenmochi and Yoroizaka deserve C+'s, or Crazy with a +. Although the both of them are better than the Knight of Hanoi grunts and SOL Technologies' A.I.'s, they both use someone else's former deck. No matter how much they train in using the 'Gouki' deck, they'll never reach Go's potential in using it." The words were typed into the 'Duel Grade' section.

Once that was done, Roxy pressed a button towards the TV, closing the screen before going to her laptop, looking at the two profiles that were completed.

Name: Ichiro Kenmochi (considering what his last name means, it makes sense what his Ace Monster is).

VRAINS ID: Kenmochi (just like Go, he uses his real-life identity).

Other aliases: Delinquent (formerly, as Go helped him and Yoroizaka see the error of their ways), Go's friend (currently. Following the Boot Camp, Kenmochi and Yoroizaka stayed in touch with Go. A good choice, that's for sure).

Gender: Male (if the clownish pink afro isn't a giveaway, I don't know what is).

Age: 18 (an estimate)

Residence: Apartment close to SOL Technologies (Go, Kenmochi, and Yoroizaka are currently living there together since Go left the boathouse).

Job: SOL Technologies' bounty hunter

Deck: Gouki (it's likely that Go split his former deck and handed it to Kenmochi and Yoroizaka. The deck focuses on summoning 'Gouki' monsters and Link Summoning before defeating the opponent in a glorious fashion. Since we encountered the Gouki deck already, everyone knows how to counter it).

Ace Monster: Gouki the Blade Ogre (Ichiro means 'Straight' while Kenmochi means 'Possesses the Sword' in Kanji, so it's fitting that he uses The Blade Ogre. Anyhow, Gouki the Blade Ogre is different than the other 'Gouki' monsters we encountered. To start, he's a Link 3 monster with 2400 attack points that requires two or more 'Gouki' monsters. The Blade Ogre's effect enables him to gain 300 attack points for every monster he points to, and by tributing a monster he points to, The Blade Ogre can attack a second time during the Battle Phase. For a Link 3 monster, he's not bad).

Skill: Gouki Surge (found this up online. Once per duel, Kenmochi can target one 'Gouki' monster on his field and allow it to attack all monsters the opponent controls once each. In exchange, Kenmochi can't attack with other monsters he controls for the rest of the turn. Basically, it's a last resort Skill if he's backed in the corner).

LINK VRAINS' History: Kenmochi and Yoroizaka joined Go in SOL Technologies' hunt for the Ignis, especially for Playmaker, Raguel, and Soulburner.

Duel Grade right now: C+ (Crazy with a +) (compared to SOL Technologies' A.I.'s and the Knight of Hanoi grunts, Kenmochi actually outperforms them by a long shot. Still, the fact he uses someone else's former deck isn't a good idea, even though he trained to use it).

Notes: One of the hunters that we need to worry less about compared to the others. Like Go, he is mainly there for just plain muscle.

Kenmochi was once in a detention facility years ago with Yoroizaka, where both of them were a pair of delinquents who harassed a store for protection money. However, they were caught by cops after said store owner pulled a shotgun on them forcing them to surrender.

Go visited the facility, given he was a trouble making orphan once, so he decided to help others find the right path. Go lead a rehabilitation program there, with Kenmochi and Yoroizaka being among its participants. Both Kenmochi and Yoroizaka graduated and now they seem to be munity service in a way by teaming up with Go? At least Go still has friends but seems he ought to follow his own advice of finding the right path again.

Name: Jobu Yoroizaka (considering what his last name means, it makes sense what his Ace Monster is).

VRAINS ID: Yoroizaka (uses his real-life identity as well in the network).

Other aliases: Delinquent (formerly, as Go helped him and Kenmochi see the error of their ways), Go's friend (currently. Following the Boot Camp, Kenmochi and Yoroizaka stayed in touch with Go. A good choice, that's for sure).

Ace Monster: Gouki the Solid Ogre (Jobu means 'Solid' while Yoroizaka means 'Armour' in Kanji, so it's fitting that he uses The Solid Ogre. Anyway, Gouki the Solid Ogre is different than the other 'Gouki' monsters we encountered. He can't be destroyed by battle or card effects while he points to a 'Gouki' monster, and once per turn, during either player's turn, Yoroizaka can target a 'Gouki' monster in the Main Monster Zone and move it to a Main Monster Zone The Solid Ogre points to. For a Link 3 monster, he's not bad).

Skill: Gouki Guard (found this online. Once per duel, all 'Gouki' monsters on Yoroizaka's field can't be destroyed by battle or card effects, and any battle damage Yoroizaka takes is halved until the End Phase. Compared to Kenmochi's Skill, which is a short-term attack on the opponent, Yoroizaka's Skill is more long-term, as it enables him to survive another round before making a counterattack).

LINK VRAINS' History: Kenmochi and Yoroizaka joined Go in SOL Technologies' hunt for the Ignis, especially for Playmaker, Raguel, and Soulburner.

Duel Grade right now: C+ (Crazy with a +) (compared to SOL Technologies' A.I.'s and the Knight of Hanoi grunts, Yoroizaka actually outperforms them by a long shot. Still, the fact he uses someone else's former deck isn't a good idea, even though he trained to use it).

Satisfied with both profiles, Roxy saved them both before turning off her computer after a few moments passed.

"While Kenmochi and Yoroizaka are two noobs that we don't have to worry about, I fear our true enemies will be some of the deadliest opponents we ever encountered. From the azure-overcoated man and his AI Malf, to Bohman and Haru, to the re-emergence of the Hanoi, the Black Market, and SOL Technologies itself, I fear that even if we do win, we'll forever be impacted by them." Roxy said, eating her sandwich. "My hope is that we'll be able to save our loved ones, find out who's really behind the Cyberse World's destruction, and ultimately move past this mess." After Roxy finished her sandwich, she headed back downstairs to Café Matsuo, her lunchbreak now over.

Meanwhile, in the network...

Ace slammed his fists on his desk, infuriated with what happened. "DAMN IT! DAMN IT! DAMN IT!" he shouted. With the Zeta Branch destroyed, that meant the Black Market could no longer make weapons for the branches that allied with him. Although Omega and Epsilon were opposing him, he still had the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma branches that allied with him.

"My deathstalkers found the culprit who's responsible," one of the people who was at his office said. She was a young woman who had golden-blonde hair that was tied in twin tails arranged into ringlets, which fell to her waist. The woman had sharp shoulder pads that were on her black blazer, which was on her pink shirt. She also had grey leggings, along with black shorts. In her right hand was a red-clawed staff. The woman pressed a button on the remote she was carrying, revealing Blood Shepherd killing Wyatt. "Blood Shepherd seized the opportunity to kill Wyatt after Raguel and the others destroyed the Zeta Branch."

"Thank you, Clarice." Ace replied, glad that the Beta Branch's deathstalkers were able to find out the truth. As the leader of said branch, she always managed to get the info needed.

"If word gets out that SOL Technologies managed to one-up us, Omega and Epsilon will likely contact them for help." Seamus deduced. He, Muziano, Jayla, and Luc arrived at Ace's location in the Overseer's tower as well. "They'll likely contact Raguel and his little allies as well for assistance against us. We must eliminate them, along with SOL Technologies for getting involved in our battle."

"You're not the only one who wants a piece of Raguel." Speckles pointed out, who was at Ace's right side. "He must suffer for destroying my systems and making me run for my life."

"Lady and gentlemen." Ace stood up from his chair. "I agree with all of you that our enemies must be eliminated. But may I remind you that two branches are opposing us at this very moment, and another branch is neutral as well." He turned to Seamus. "Speaking of which, what's the word on negotiations with the Delta Branch?"

"We're close to coming to a deal with them." Seamus informed Ace. "As for the two enemy branches, I may have an idea on getting rid of them." He walked over and whispered his idea in Ace's ear, who smiled upon hearing it.

"What an excellent suggestion." Ace stated. "Then it's settled. Gamma Branch will edit the footage to incriminate the enemy branches of Wyatt's murder. It'll motivate our branches to fight harder against them. Clarice, I want you to prepare the deathstalkers for shipment to Alpha and Gamma branches. Speckles, you're on surveillance duty. Scout the area and report back to me for any appearances from either SOL Technologies or Raguel and his group. You may engage them if worse comes to shove. As for you, Seamus, choose your best agents and have them cause some chaos to our enemies."

"My family and I will take on this task personally." Seamus promised, with Luc, Jayla, and Muziano nodding in confirmation.

"The Beta Branch will also send out its strongest deathstalker as well." Clarice added, as a woman wearing a long, white overcoat with golden buttons all over it walked up to Clarice's left side. She wore a white and golden mask resembling that of a skull, along with sharp blades at the back of her head. Small, golden blades were also attached to her shoes and the sleeves on her coat. "Known as Sandalphon, she has succeeded in every mission that was assigned to her. Her deck is strong enough to give even Raguel and his allies a hard time."

"Perfect." Ace grinned. "And for those of you who are concerned about Athaliah's part in all this, put your worries at ease. She's currently doing her assigned project in the Alpha Branch, and is under my protection. Okay, with all topics discussed, you're dismissed for now." Everyone then left Ace's office, going downstairs and exiting the Overseer's tower in the process.

"Your plan better work." Azrael said in the darkness, surprising Ace.

"I intend for it to work." Ace responded, turning his chair to face Azrael.

"You will leave Raguel and his Ignis to myself and Wraith." Azrael instructed. "As for the other Ignis's, they are to be spared as well."

"Yes, yes. I understand perfectly." Ace complied. "And what about Malf? Is he-?"

"Malf's still killing people as we speak." Wraith explained, emerging from Azrael's duel disk. "So long as your allies don't get in his way, they'll be fine. But if you can't keep things under control, we'll have Malf get involved, and you won't like it at all."

Ace's face paled at that moment. After hearing what Malf did to Monty, fear consumed Ace, as he didn't want to face a similar fate. That's one of the reasons why he had to obey Azrael. Otherwise, he'd either be killed by the 'Another' virus, Malf, Azrael, or even the Light Ignis himself. "Very well. I'll ensure your instructions are followed to the letter."

"Make it so, lest you suffer a fate worse than death." Azrael then disappeared in the shadows, leaving a terror-stricken Ace all alone in his office. As long as he completed his mission in ensuring that Bohman was healed, he'd be alright.

Author's Notes

Hey, everyone! It's been a while since I made an update to Roxy's Reports! That being said, the next update won't come until the Turf War arc is halfway done. So see you then!
