Covid moon chapter 10
Still writing this on my phone whenever I can. I'm finding writing on the phone has drastically changed my writing style. It's very interesting! Thanks for reading!!
Soft silk sheets engulfed Bella all around. Her legs and bottom seemed to be sitting on something warm and cozy while her upper body rested against something cold and hard yet not unpleasant.
Edward.
The last 72 hours whooshed back into Bella's mind like an express train blowing through a small station. Her mother's crash, her terrible plane ride, the call from the Cullens, and of course Edward. It hadn't been a dream, not any of it. Bella knew it was real by before she even opened her eyes. The smell and feel of the overpriced hotel room confirmed it all in her head. They had finally come for her.
Edward knew the moment Bella had awaken due to the change in her breathing and heart rate. She pretended to be asleep for nearly another hour and he happily left her to it. Edward would of stayed with his arms wrapped around Bella for a further 8 years if he could of. Unfortunately Bella's bladder had other desires.
"Does this fancy hotel have a bathroom or are we at a vampire hotel?" Bella asked without turning to look at Edward.
From behind the closed bedroom suite door Emmett and Rosalie both laughed. I think I like grown up Bella, Edward. What a relief since I'm clearly going to be spending eternity with her now, Rose thought to Edward.
"The door to the right will take you to an ensure. There should be everything you need in there, love," Edward pointed.
Bella ignored his pet name for her and scurried off into the bathroom, oddly unfazed by the change in scenery that occurred while she was asleep. Moving hotels wasn't all that happened durning the hours Bella had slept either. The Cullens had been busy.
Carlisle and Rose managed to dazzle their way into the hospital. It was too risky to try and get him privileges so they managed to charm the nurses into believing they were Renee's distant family and breaking Covid protocol to allow them to visit her. Carlisle made his own assessments while they were alone in her icu room briefly. The news wasn't good. Renee had suffer a catastrophic head injury and was not showing any signs of brain activity returning. The fact was Renee was only alive because the machines were keeping her that way. Bella was right to hurry to Florida she would need to say her goodbyes. The hospital was not going to the any further measures to save her life given the state of her brain activity and they needed the vent she was using fur Covid patients.
Carlisle and Rose also acquired some Covid testing kits, some basic medical equipment, scrubs and Ppe that matched the hospitals uniforms. Stealing wasn't normally the Cullens style they usually never needed to resort to that giving their vast wealth, many different identities and other resources, but the Cullens where in crisis mode and moving at a rate that even their vampire resources couldn't keep up with. Carlisle felt ok with the theft though because he in turn maybe a huge anonymous donation to the hospital.
Now, everyone was back at the hotel, where they had rented out the entire top floor of suites under the guise of being a wealthy family that needed to isolate. Though actually that was pretty much the truth. Bella, at least, did need to isolate. But she also needed to see her mom fast.
Bella took her time in the impressive bathroom, avoiding having to face Edward for as long as she possibly could. Laid out on the marble floor was three new suitcases stocked full of brand new clothes in Bella's size. On the counter was a vanity bag bursting at the brims full of high end cosmetics and bath products. Alice had been antsy with nothing much to do while waiting for Bella to sleep and Carlisle to return.
Bella popped on the shower and sat down on the toilet, letting the room fill with steam. She really didn't feel like a shower or bath though. She just felt… tired and sort of hungover, which was alarming because it was clear to her that she must have been sleeping for a very long time already. Instead of washing herself Bella just sat there slowly going through all the ridiculous things Alice had purchased, wondering if her dear old friend was simply trying to buy her forgiveness.
Even sitting through the bags felt exhausting to Bella though and she found herself thinking if this was it then. If this tiredness was the start of Covid already? If it was Bella knew she really needed to act fast in order to see her mother and she would need Carlisle help to do it safely. Edward would have to wait. All of her issues with the Cullens would have to wait for now.
Bella turned off the shower and pulled on a pair of soft cozy jogging shorts and a tank top with a fitted bra. She mustarded the energy to brush her furry teeth and then steeled herself mentally before going back into the bedroom.
Before Edward could even speak to her, Bella held up her hands and shook her head, saying, "I don't want to talk. Get me Carlisle please."
Bella's firm request pained Edward deeply. He had been waiting 16 hours now while Bella slept, desperate to talk to her. But he wasn't about to object to any of her requests at the moment, nor would the family had even allowed him to. So he nodded and sent Carlisle a text.
Three seconds later Carlisle was knocking at their door which his medical bag in hand.
"Carlisle, can you get me to my mother wiThough letting me spread this stupid virus to anyone else? I need to see her."
"Yes Bella, first things first, let's get you looked over and then we can discuss how best to get you alone time with your mom," Carlisle replied not in the least bit offended by Bella's lack of greeting to him.
"I have a rapid Covid test with me here, which I'm sorry to say is not a pleasant test to take," Carlisle said, before turning fo Edward and asking him to leave the room.
"No!" Bella shouted, surprising everyone including herself. "Edward stays." Even though Bella was still fuming mad a
at Edward, as well as, extremely hurt still, apparently her subconscious could not stand the idea of letting him out of her site.
"Ok… Bella, where would you like Edward go to be for your examination?" Carlisle asked.
Bella didn't answer. Instead she just went and sat at the end of the bed and held out her hand to Edward. Edwards soul soared and he silently took her hand. They both felt that same old spark and Bella knew that however mad and hurt she was in the end she would forgive him. There was something much more powerful between them a supernatural love that she just didn't understand fully.
Bella closed her eyes and let Carlisle and Edward guide poke and prod away in real-time silence, though Carlisle did tell her briefly what he was doing beforehand. He also mentally discussed things with Edward, commenting on how dehydrated Bella was and how he expected to find that she was deficient on her vitamins too when he got the blood results. The Bottom line was that Bella was not in top COVID fighting condition and her rapid test had already come back positivist. It would not be long before she started showing symptoms.
This is only going to go one of two ways, son. Bella is going to die and only she can choose how. You need to prepare yourself for both possibilities.
Edward winced but was resolved. He would do anything in his power to convince Bella to let him change her. He had been a fool not to do it before.
