Hey this is my small heads up that I am a particular supporter of the Loyalist Alpha Legion Theory in 40k. I am not here to argue one way or the other and just want to have my case put out there so fellow Alpha Legion fans who believe one theory or another know my own view going into the story.
On another note I do not own either Warhammer 40k or Rezero and only lay claim to my original character, otherwise enjoy!
Deep in Warp Travel aboard a small Imperial vessel known as Unending Faith many survivors of a genestealer uprising had stowed into lay a single member of one of the Space Marine Legions, just not one you would have expected.
Naris raised his head as he stared at the wall of the large cargo box he was currently hiding in. The tiny amount of light given off by his many computer interfaces created a reflection of the Marine, the scaled armor he wore reflected his heraldry well with the great serpent upon his helmet finishing the declaration of his allegiance to the Alpha Legion. His combat knife, long enough to be wielded as a short sword for a normal human remained at his hip while he checked his bolter one more time before he began his operation.
Over the past few months he had been conducting a war of secrecy against what Xenos cultists had stowed away among the many loyal humans. His agents had been successful in slowing the spread but he knew it was over once he discovered all the psykers aboard had been killed or turned. They would either be delivered to the Cults Tyranid masters or be sent to a place the cultists would infect once again. The situation was not ideal, but he had few options available to him.
Naris activated the Vox link he held with his remaining agents. "Execute plan Omega Four, may The Emperor's light guide you." He said with a firm tone before he deactivated it with a soft sigh.
Though he did not worship the Emperor as the mortals did he could not blame them, and at times like this their fervor was useful. He primed a crack grenade and hid it inside the computer's systems and set a five minute timer. "I suppose the game of cat and mouse has come to an end. It is high time I remind these mice that I still have my teeth."
Naris took a deep breath before he slowly exited his small hide away for the past few months. Taking a swift stride he broke the neck of the only human nearby and tossed the body inside his former hiding place before sealing the crates door shut once more. Naris moved down the corridor swiftly heading deeper into the ship as his Vox picked up on many communications going around the ship about a mutiny occurring. It called for all hands on deck to protect the psykers, bridge, and armory. Just as intended he had an easy time of it reaching the reactor with only the standard guards being there.
Before emerging from the shadows Naris put down both of the humans guarding the entrance with two well placed bolter rounds before he advanced to the door. He had been unable to determine if they were turned or not but in the end he gave them a quick death. Entering the reactor Naris stared down the line Tech Priest in the Unending Faith. "Is it primed yet Janos? I don't believe the Xenos will take much time to realize our true intentions once we begin."
The mess of robes let out a low buzz before turning to him. The slouched over stance of Janos making him seem smaller than he really was while also allowing him to hide his extra pair of hands that were in the process of applying oil to a grenade he held. "The reactor is as primed as I had prepared it before you arrived Naris. The Xenos must be cleansed from this holy vessel. Though granting it to the Warp is not my first choice of extermination methods." He quipped in a slightly annoyed tone.
Naris gave a small snort at that as he shook his head. "We either do this and stop them now or let them onto another Imperial World. Their numbers are too many now and the plan is set, I trust you will do what needs to be done Janos."
The Tech Priest let out another low buzz in binary before continuing in High Gothic. "I am aware, the machine spirits will have their vengeance this day on the filth the dared entered this vessel. I will commence in a moment, combat servitors will be activated first." Janos said as he loaded the grenade into a launcher attached to one of the four servitors he had in the reactor room before the servitors all slowly walked over to the now sealed door with weapons pointed toward it.
Approaching his terminal once more, Janos began to set the reactor to overload itself as Naris took his place in the center of the room. The Marine scanned the walls before he raised his bolter to the door and waited. It took five minutes into the reactor overload when he began to hear them. The frantic scrambling and scratch of claws against metal. "The enemy is here, be ready." He spoke calmly as he maintained his aim on the door.
Slam after slam was heard as something struck the door with some heavy object. It was as the door caved in under one of the Xenos strikes that Naris fired, taking off the head of the Aberrant that created the hole. Grenades were sent flying through the hole even as it was widened by the remaining Aberrants. Even as the explosions from the grenades went off the foe did not relent as the cultists tore an even bigger hole open which many of the smaller genestealers began to crawl through only to be gunned down by bolter and heavy stubber fire.
Even as the Xenos fell Naris moved to reload just as he saw what was keeping the next wave of genestealers from crawling through as a Broodlord grabbed both sides of the door and ripped them wide open as it stepped into the room. "Janos were out of time!" He called out as he backpedaled over to the Tech Priest while firing upon the beast.
Janos let out a buzz of sound as all four hands danced across his cogitators at lightning speed. "I require 30 seconds." He intoned gravely.
Naris took a breath as he saw the Servitor that wielded the heavy stubber be cleaved in two by the Broodlords claws. "Then you will have them." Said as he charged forward towards the great beast who in the time it took the Marine to cross the distance had already sliced apart the Servitor holding the grenade launcher.
Naris dropped his bolter mid charge once he heard the click of his ammunition running out and drew his combat knife. The Broodlord turned its alien eyes to him and lept towards him. Naris only barely dodged out of the way of having the Xenos land on top of him but it's claw still cut through his left arm but not quite severing it. The Marine managed to slam his blade up to its hilt in the Xeno's side but it only tried to once again maul him. Rolling backwards and abandoning his knife the Marine hit a familiar sack of flesh as he looked down and saw one of the servitors the Broodlord previously sliced apart, but more importantly did not destroy its grenade launcher it had wielded.
Picking up the weapon Naris barely had any time before he once again was forced back by the Broodlords onslaught. With a grunt he raised the weapon any normal human would never be able to lift and fired all three remaining grenades into the Xenos chest but still it refused to die. It charged once more and Naris this time grabbed both its arms and held them back, keeping the claws just out of reach but with every moment the beast drew closer.
It shrieked in pain and withdrew as one of its eyes seemingly vanished under a shot from Janos's Gamma pistol as the Tech Priest spoke. "You do not prevail this day Xenos, the Warp shall claim us all." He intoned as alarms rang all around them.
Naris grunted as he took another breath and braced himself for what horrors he would suffer in his final moments. "For the Emperor." He spoke calmly as he closed his eyes for a moment. Only to open them to see a clear blue sky above him?
What will happen next, is Naris unarmed and hurt or should he be as equipped as he was at the start. Will anyone else from the ship also make it into the world, from Janos or even our Nameless Broodlord. Find out next time on not Dragon Ball Z!
