Author's Note: I actually first wrote this WAY back in late 2002 (!) but then it got deleted some time after. Even sadder, I lost the original file so I couldn't upload the story again. It hasn't been until now (due to other reasons besides COVID of course) that I've had the urge to come back and write this whole thing again from scratch from the best of my recollection… vastly revised of course.

Note that I'll only be posting the Prologue on this site as FFNet prohibits script format stories, and the majority of this story is well… in script format. So if you'd like to read the rest, please hop on over to Archive of Our Own, or simply follow the link provided below:

Digimon Adventure: The Musical

Prologue: The Original DigiDestined (Prologue (The Enchantress))

Once upon a time in a far away land, a computerized race of creatures lived in a shining digital world. Although there were those who had everything their hearts desired, there were others who were spoiled, selfish and unkind.

But then, one summer's day, five unsuspecting children came to the Digital World and were offered five creatures as partners in order to vanquish a bitter quartet. Repulsed by their feeble appearances, the quartet sneered at the young heroes and tried to do them away. But none warned them not to be deceived by appearances, for immense power is found within. And when the children were beaten again, a girl amongst them shone alight to reveal a godlike entity.

The girl begged to have her partner saved, but it was too late, for the entity had seen that there was no time left in this battle. As salvation, it transformed the children's partners into holy beasts, who placed a powerful spell against the quartet, at the cost of sacrificing the girl's partner.

Distraught by this tragic outcome, the girl threw herself into obsession to find her partner again despite finding no window back to the Digital World. The children who were chosen were truly esteemed children, who'd be remembered for many years.

If a child could learn to love their partner and earn their love in return when faith seemed scarce, then the Digital World would be saved. If not, the Digital World would be doomed to remain in darkness for all time. As the years passed, the Digital World fell into despair and many lost all hope. For who could ever again learn to love… Digital Monsters?
