Fandom: Jurassic World
Summary: The Indominus Rex had a parent, someone who loved her and took care of her. After she was deemed too violent and dangerous for human interaction, she was torn apart from him. Years later, she sees an opportunity for freedom and takes it. Her first priority was finding her adoptive father.

Year: 2010

Once Alistair was well enough to leave the medical wing, Alaina brought him back to his own apartment. "Don't do anything stupid, Alistair," Alaina advised. "I know you'll try to break into the labs and try to get to Reggie. Security was told to keep an eye out for you,"

"It's not fair," Alistair said, plopping down onto the couch. "It's not fair. Reggie did nothing wrong. All she did was protect me from Regis," He put a hand to his bandaged face. 'Even if I do try to get to Reggie right now, my injuries are still healing and my depth perception is off. I need to get used to working with one eye only. What if they think I shouldn't be working in the lab now that I only have one eye? What if they think I'm too much of a liability? If I'm fired, then I'll be farther away from Reggie! I need to prove that I'm still completely capable!' "What will my next project be?"

"Don't worry about your work right now," Alaina told him. "Just focus on recovering,"

"I-I'll be resting for at least the next couple days," Alistair reasoned. "I can create a plan on how to conduct my next project if you tell me what it is,"

Alaina sighed. "I heard some people talking about something called the IBRIS Project,"

"IBRIS?"

"Integrated Behavioral Raptor Intelligence Study," Alaina explained. "It's a program to study the intelligence of velociraptors. It hasn't been approved yet,"

"I-I can handle velociraptors," Alistair claimed.

"I don't think you should partake in the project,"

"What?" Alistair asked. "Why not? I can handle it!"

"Why don't you try a non-carnivorous animal first?" Alaina suggested. "Something not as dangerous, like an herbivore?"

Alistair raised a brow at her suggestion. "Not as dangerous? All dinosaurs are dangerous. I can get stomped to death by a brachiosaurus. I can get stabbed by a triceratops. I can get headbutted and break my ribs by a stygimoloch. I can get bludgeoned by an ankylosaurus,"

"But they are not as dangerous as a tyrannosaurus or a velociraptor," Alaina stated. "It'll be less strenuous than raising velociraptors,"

Alistair saw a flash of guilt in Alaina's eyes when she glanced at Alistair's bandaged eye. "Since the IBRIS Project hasn't even been approved yet, I'll start off with helping with the herbivores first," 'I'll prove to her that a missing eye won't be that much of a bother. I can still work at the labs. I can still work at Jurassic World,'

A clutch of tenontosaurus eggs laid in the incubator. Alistair had quickly adapted to life with only one eye and wouldn't let it hinder his work. He was impatiently waiting for the tenontosaurus eggs to hatch. It wasn't long until three baby tenontosaurus had all broken out of their shells. Alistair cleaned them all up and transferred them to the nursery room.

The nursery room...it was so similar to the room that Reggie and Regis had grown up in. This room was a bit larger as it was meant for three tenontosaurus rather than two Indominus Rexes. He snapped out of his trance and placed the three hatchlings onto the floor. They were less cautious than Reggie had been and immediately were curious about their surroundings.

'Oh right, I need to give them names,' Alistair realized. 'Nothing royal. I won't give them any names related to royalty. No Princess, Duchess, or Empress. They remind me too much of Reggie,'

The largest of the litter was a greyish green color with tough osteoderms along her back. Her eyes were a bright yellow that reminded Alistair of golden jewelry his brother owned. The scientist decided to name her Oro, the Italian word for gold.

The second born of the bunch was a deeper forest green hue with a much softer and angelic look. Her eyes were a shade of brown that reminded Alistair of tree bark. Her name was Terra, Italian for earth.

The last one was the runt. She was reddish-brown and the color was similar to red dirt. Her eyes were fiercer and a vibrant red. She had a rougher look compared to her sisters and had tougher scales with more rows of osteoderms than Oro. Alistair decided to name her Rosa, Italian for rose.

Alistiar thought he'd be overwhelmed since there were three dinosaur babies and only one of him. These herbivorous dinosaurs were also much more docile than the Indominus Rexes. They were probably engineered that way because humans would be with them in the pens in places such as the Gallimimus Valley and the Gentle Giants Petting Zoo.

Alistair took care of them with as much love and care as he had done with Reggie, but he would never call Oro, Terra, and Rosa his daughters. It would feel like he was replacing Reggie with them. He loved them but...if he had a choice, he knew he would always choose Reggie over them.

All three tenontosaurus had died. After about a month, they began to get sick and Alistair brought them to the medical bay. The veterinarians all did their best, but apparently the three sisters' bodies were breaking down. The vets listed Oro, Terra, and Rosa down as failed experiments.

Alistair couldn't take it anymore. His heart was hurting even more now. He needed to get away from Jurassic World. He needed to get away from the source of his pain. He loved the dinosaurs, and he especially loved Reggie and wanted to see her again, but he couldn't stay on the island any longer and quit. Some time away from Jurassic World would help calm him down and clear his mind.

He was leaving Jurassic World, but he was never going to give up on his daughter.

END OF PART I

Rather than raising the raptors for a bit with Owen, I had Alistair raise a trio of tenontosaurus and then I killed off the hatchlings.
