"Come on, why are you explaining your pla- and he escaped, really?" said Basil tiredly as he watched the cartoon on the glass orb "he's stupid enough to fall into your trap, but you outdumb him?"
"Rooting for the antagonist are we?" Asked the Golden guard
"No, funnily enough, I'm rooting for the trees in the background" said Basil staring at Gold through his mask
"Ignoring the pun, they are the only ones smart enough to mind their own business" said Gold watching the same cartoon as Basil
"I swear, if one of us was either the protagonist or the antagonist, this cartoon would've been 5 episodes long" said Basil tiredly
"Are you gonna stop watching it then?" Asked Gold cheerfully
"...no"
"Then cheer up, at least they're not as bad as Candice" said Gold happily
"Candice?...shoot"
Gold let out a sinister laugh, but before the golden guard could finish the joke, someone opened the door and entered the room
It was Kiki
"I know i should be thanking you, but is knocking really that rude?" Said Basil a little peeved at her
Kiki sighed in frustration before speaking
"The emperor wishes to see you" said Kiki tiredly
"Sure" said Basil cheerfully "anything to get out od that joke"
Gold grunted in anger at his joke being ruined

"Basil, there are many wild witches roaming free at this moment and the day of unity the day of unity is fast approaching, time is of the essence" said Belos calmly "i trust you know what to do"
The black guard nodded silently, understanding the Emperor's words
'get rid of as many wild witches as possible during this hunt'
They currently weren't in the throne room, but in a dark room, just the the two of them and Kiki
But before the Emperor could dimiss the black guard
"Emperor Belos" said the black guard calmly, getting the attention of the emperor "if you'd excuse my rudeness, may i have Lilith and a few coven members for a day? I_"
"Very well" said Belos calmly not even letting the black guard finish "Kiki, i trust you to prepare what he needs"
"Yes, my liege" said Kiki bowing

"As much as i appreciate catching your fancy, could you please stop staring at me" said Basil calmly walking
"You don't usually ask for help with anything unless it's to watch a cartoon or something" said Kiki narrowing her eyes "what happened?"
"I want to look into something but I'm not a people's guy so I'm making Lilith do it instead, the ones going with her is just to make the act authentic" said Basil in a half serious tone
Kiki rolled her eyes to his answer before noticing that he had his hand on the hole leading to his mouth
Then they met Lilith
"Ah! Lilith! I was looking for you!" Said Basil cheerfully before whispering to himself "it sounds so wrong saying it out loud"
"What do you want? I'm_" said Lilith tiredly
"Lilith" said Kiki calmly gaining the attention of Lilith
"Oh! Kiki...what brings you here?" Asked Lilith in surprise
"*Cough* there's something the black guard wants to investigate, but he has duties to fulfill, so by the Emperor's orders, it is your new assignment" said Kiki calmly
"B-but what about Edalyn?" Asked Lilith in confusion "shouldn't catching her take precedence?"
"Worry not Lilith, this should not take more than one day, you can get back to chasing after the owl lady after this" replied Kiki "understood?"
"... understood Kiki" said Lilith despondently
"Good, I shall go prepare some help for your trip" said Kiki calmly as she left the two alone
And after a few awkwardly silent seconds, Basil spoke
"So, I should be telling you what you need to do, shouldn't I?" said Basil dryly, getting glares from Lilith "look, all you gotta do, is go to Hexside under the pretense of... education? I don't know find a good excuse to get into their classes, there's someone I want you to look into...stealthily, here's a picture!"
Basil handed Lilith a picture, Lilith rolled her eyes before taking it, then after staring at the picture for a few seconds, she looked at Basil
"A child?" Said Lilith in confusion
"Yeah, this kid might be some long lost sibling of mine and I want you to check if that's true" said Basil cheerfully "but again, be sneaky, I don't want him to know anything"
"Why? If he's your sibling, shouldn't you meet him yourself?" Asked Lilith tilting her head
"Nah, it'd be too awkward, he has his own life" said Basil cheerfully "I just wanna know in case I need to do a plot twist"
Lilith scoffed at this
"If I were you I would've just approached him and explained everything" said Lilith peeved at Basil's attitude
"Oh! Cool game! I guess it's my turn now!" Said Basil cheerfully and jokingly "Uhm..uh..if I were you...I..uh.. wouldn't have cursed the owl lady"
Lilith instantly froze, 'how does he know that?' is what went through her mind
"Turns out the smell that's been stuck on you is from the curse as the caster, the smell on the owl lady is nicer somehow" shrugged Basil nonchalantly "and for a place in the Emperor's coven, I learned after some digging around"
"... that's why I'm trying to catch her" said Lilith in regret "to fix my mistake and heal her"
"...sure, better look into the kid asap, just write a paper with the things we share that'd say we're siblings, nothing too detailed" said Basil nonchalantly as he walked away "Bye"
Basil then went on to hunt some witches

Lilith went to Hexside quickly with emperor's coven members accompanying her
She went under the pretense of surprise educational material, a small visit to tutor the children for a bit of time
And she managed to see the boy the black guard asked her to look into
And she could easily tell they were related
The boy had grey hair and blue eyes, a tail the same color as his skin just like the black guard
But what really sealed the deal was his reaction to her, usually she gets admiration and such from children
Not covering their mouths in disgust, not the nose, the mouth
She made sure not to make eye contact or to look at him with more than a passing glance
She cut it as short as possible, she did notice a student hiding from her but she ignored it
She had better things to do

"...why...do I...feel tired?" Asked a wild witch after getting slashed by Basil's scythe as it's scythe was covered in a blue aura
"Because killing looks bad on paper so they decided to make my scythe tire out living creatures instead" said Basil menacingly, getting the attention of the witch "don't worry, it's only temporary, you won't lose any lifespan or anything either"
The witched saw Basil holding the giant scythe and decided the the best course of action would be to run, they hopped on their staff and flew away
"Nice ride" said Basil as he flew the scythe's blade through the witch
The witch was too dizzy and unstable, they quickly flew the staff into the ground
Basil caught the witch and the staff mid air
"Good night" said Basil calmly as he dashed away towards his next target
And after a few minutes, the Emperor's coven arrived to gather the sleeping ones
And when Basil finally made it back to the castle, Lilith had attempted a raid on the owl house
And failed
