Basil walked through the halls of the castle, he heard the news that Lilith was on thin ice
"So what exactly happened that put Lilith on thin ice?" Asked Basil in confusion
"She failed to capture the owl lady, again, so the emperor gave her a time limit or she's kicked out of the coven" said gold calmly "how were things on your side?"
"Well, i think i managed to do ok" said Basil cheerfully
"Ha ha, Trying to act humble now?" Said Gold happily
"Sorry, but, i too, am extraordinarily humble" said Basil jokingly making Gold laugh a little "Well, I'm off to see, there's something i need from her, see you later"
"Later"
And Basil went off to see Lilith
Basil DID feel bad for her, but there was nothing he could do, they were the emperor's orders, so he decided a good luck wou suffice
"Think! You've given your entire life to this coven, you can't lose it, what's Eda's weakness?_" Said Lilith in frustration
"Have you tried apple blood? I've seen her drink gallons at once before" said Basil cheerfully
"You"
"Hello Lilith" said Basil calmly "i heard about your little...situation"
"Are you here to mock me? Rub salt in the wound?" Asked Lilith in frustration
"Nah, salt's too expensive these days, though, i do have some acid if you want" Asked Basil cheerfully earning a glare from Lilith "anyway, how did my little request go?"
"He has a tail like you and he shut his mouth the moment i got close and kept it that way for as long as i was there" said Lilith still frustrated "you two are definitely related"
"I see...thank you Lilith, i appreciate it... and unironically...good luck on your mission" said Basil calmly "goodbye"
Then they suddenly heard something getting smashed
"It seems we have some...unwanted guests in the relic room" said Basil calmly "4 to be precise...let's go"
Lilith nodded and the two made their way to the relic room quickly, and when they made it there they saw the intruders
A human, two witches, and a half basilisk like him
"Why if it isn't Eda's human pet" said Lilith calmly as she stared at the human "how perfect, aren't i lucky to find you here"
Basil didn't care about Lilith's villain speech, he was staring at the child who was...like him
His mother really layed another egg after she left him..., the kid had his dad's eyes too, but this wasn't the time to be depressed over that
So while Lilith fighting everyone else, he decided to approach the boy
"Not so fast" said Basil stopping the boy from absorbing Lilith's magic with his hand "we have a speed limit here"
"Hey! Let me go!" Said the boy struggling for a way out of Basil's grasp
"You do know that no one would actually listen to that request right?" Deadpanned Basil earning an angry look from the boy "and it seems like Lilith got everything done, so how about we deal with you now"
And as Basil was walked with the boy in hand, Luz spoke
"Bren! Hey! Stop! Where are you taking him?!" Said Luz struggling in Lilith's grasp before Lilith just put her in a bubble
"That's none of your business" replied Basil calmly
"Of course it is! He's my friend!" said Luz struggling
Bren was about to throw a potion at Basil but stopped in shock after he spoke
"Cool! And I'm his older brother!" said Basil nonchalantly while using his tail to hold Bren before taking the potion from his hands "i know I'm supposed to wait a bit for the plot twist and all, but i don't really care about that nor do i have the time to explain, goodbye"
And so, Basil left with Bren in his arms, not caring for the human's reaction,
"You're lying aren't you?!" Said the boy angrily as Basil carried him through the halls of the castle
"Last time i checked, my names wasn't lying, but_"
"You know what i meant!" Said Bren angrily getting Basil to stare at him
"That's the point of the joke"
"...prove it" said Bren frowning
"Well, by confusing my name with the word "lying" on purpose i_"
"Not the joke! Us being siblings! Prove it!" Said Bren angrily
"I guess a tail isn't enough proof" said Basil before putting his sibling down and pulling his scythe from one of his hands "so how about this?"
Basil scratched behind on of Bren's ears and suddenly, they changed, they became webbed ears, like a basilisk's
Basil used the scythe as a mirror to show Bren his ears
"Whoa, everything sounds so...muffled" said Bren as he flapped his new ears in front of the scythe
"That's because these ears are for hearing underwater, we can't exactly use our sense of smell there after all" said Basil cheerfully
"...wait!...underwater? As in...boiling water?"
"Our ancestors were paranoid, come along now, I'll lead you out of the castle" said Basil shrugging
"...if you knew i was your brother...why didn't you come for me?" Asked Bren frowning sadly
"I was busy...and didn't know you even existed until recently" said Basil calmly before they felt the castle shake "it seems like i have to fly you home"
"What was that?"
"Lilith fighting the owl lady" said Basil calmly holding his scythe
The scythe was swung
"Well, we should hel_"
Bren suddenly felt tired and weak, then he started wobbling
"Why...do i...feel..so_" said Bren before he was hit with a potion
Then Bren fell asleep immediately
"Sorry little guy" said Basil as he carried his sleeping brother before riding his staff
And returning him to his home
The old lady the took care of him was pretty nice, tried to attack Basil after seeing Bren unconscious
And Basil learned that his brother's name was Brendan

The owl lady was set for petrification, and Basil...wasn't gonna do anything
There was nothing for him to do
So he waited with the golden guard until all was over
And the owl lady escaped
Kiki tried to arrange a search party but Belos refused
"Worry not Kiki, we'll keep an eye on the inhabitants of the owl house" said Belos as he gave each of the two guards a nod, as if giving them different orders
The golden guard left the room, and the black guard disappeared into the shadows
A portal was being created, and the day of unity was approaching.
