At Candice office

In between 4:30-5:00 in the afternoon

Both Rick and Candice had looked through hours of footage. Then both the men the victim was seeing were both getting into a heated argument at one point. Whatever lead both men to come on the same night; it would be the last time anyone would see Amy alive. Rick had some trouble thoughts going through his mind at one point. He made himself a promise that he was going to get that person who was responsible for killing Amy.

Candice is watching him very closely, she feels bad for the man. You could tell he misses his daughter; wondering if he was going to her to just check on her. "You should call her. Let her know that she is the most important person in your life."

Rick knew that she was right. He got up to make an important phone call. Alexis couldn't answer her phone, so he had to leave a message on her cellphone. "Hey pumpkin, its dad. I'm sorry I haven't talked to you. I just wanted to let you know that I love you. I'll call you very soon." He hangs up was glad that he had tried to get a hold of her to let her know that no matter how grown up she was that he would always be her father. He went back inside; saw that Candice was writing down some notes. She was so caught up in work. That she never heard him come back inside.

Candice looks up and says; "I'm sorry Rick. I thought you still be on the phone with Alexis."

Rick has a hand on her shoulder to reassure that everything was alright. "Candice I couldn't get a hold of my daughter. But she has her own life. Some day will no longer needed me as much. I'll have to face that sooner or later. I hope she understands just how much I love her. This case has come as a big blow what with me being a father in all."

Candice was walking up to him; she grabbed him and hold him. He has his arms wrapped tightly around his waist. Rick was breaking down again. "Rick, no matter what you're daughter is always going to need her father." Her hand was on the back of his head. "Rick you're a good man; you raised a wonderful daughter. I'm sure she loves you very much. Just remember she is alive and well. Even when she's still an adult she will still needed you."

Rick pulls back and says; "your right. No matter what she will always be my little girl." He kisses her forehead as a thank you. "I'm going to go get some fresh air and get us something to eat. Sure we are both very hungry." He gets up and goes outside for some air. He was going to bring them back something to eat on. He just wasn't sure where yet.

Thirty five minutes later

Rick arrived back with some pizza, she grabbed two bottles of water from her mini fridge. Rick goes through all times he and his daughter were very close. When she was a little girl; how much she needed her daddy back then. But when she was getting older sure they had some fun times together. Alexis had grown into a very smart, mature young lady. Rick realized that it was time to let her go and move on in her new life. Sure it would break his heart. But sometimes when you love something you have to set them free.

After finishing up the pizza; Candice suggested. "Let's go for a walk. The fresh air will do as some good."

Rick holds out his hand for her to took. She takes it without argument, both of them are walking together in total silence.

Candice asked him; "Rick?! I have been wanting to ask this for quite a while. But, you can tell me it's none of business. What made you really decide to come out here?"

Rick was trying to explain it the best way he could. "I came here because I ended up falling in love with a homicide detective."

Candice nod her head at that one waiting for him to continue.

"I had lost my creativity for my last novel at my book launch. I do enjoy writing; but I always felt like something was missing at the time. I had two divorces under my belt. My love life wasn't getting any better at anytime. My publicity suggests I try dating other actress and models." He was running his fingers through his hair. "I may have looked happy in the photos. But I don't feel anything for any of them. Granted I'm not a saint; sure I had some one night stand. But I don't really feel love for any of those women. Some days I wanted to spend time with my daughter."

Both of them got some ice coffee drinks together and continue their walk together.

Candice then asked him; "so, how was it that you fall for the detective?"

Rick was running a finger against her hand; "it was at my book launch that was promoting my last book for that's when I meet her. She was driving to finding justice for the victims. Someone was using my books to murderer people with. I was at first trying to get into her pants. But then I started to fall in love with her. She is still very extraordinary. So, I used my friendship with the mayor to get inside the precinct. I shouldn't have forced my way in there like I did. It seems all I would do is get in the way of the cops doing their real job."

Candice stopped walking and said; "who told you a thing like that."

Rick looks down at the ground and says, "it doesn't matter."

Candice grab his chin lift it up; so he could look into her eyes. "Rick I want you to listen to me. There wrong all you wanted to do was try to help people. People who don't think you'll helpful are wrong. Besides if hadn't been for you helping the cops out. They never would have known the real killer was out there."
