As soon as the Titans returned to the main ops room of the tower, Robin immediately excused himself and went to his room. Starfire made to follow him but stopped short, a look of concern on her face.

"You okay?" Jinx asked her.

Starfire hesitated for a moment. "I am fine," she said.

"We still need to recharge Cyborg," Raven said. "Does anyone other than Robin know how to do that?"

"I should be able to," Jinx replied. "Cyborg was able to teach me everything I needed to know when we started going out."

"Okay. I'll get him to his room and you can take it from there." Raven used her powers to lift Cyborg, and she and Jinx left the room, leaving Beast Boy and Starfire behind. The two of them looked at each other and smiled.

"I think you need to go after him," Beast Boy said. "He's got that look on his face like the one he had when he was getting all gung-ho about Slade."

"I do wish to speak with him, but I am unsure how he will respond."

"It's gonna be okay." Beast Boy placed his hand on her shoulder. "Go."

Starfire gave Beast Boy a hug and left the room. She flew with certainty until she arrived in front of the door to Robin's room. She was about to knock on the door, but she stalled again. She then shuddered and finally knocked on the door.

"Who is it?" Robin asked, sounding annoyed already.

"It is me."

A few seconds of silence, but then Robin said "Come in."

The door slid open, and Starfire entered and sat next to Robin. He had his laptop in hand and was poring over documents and video files.

"I see you are trying to learn more about the Red X," Starfire said.

"Slade called him 'Jason,'" Robin responded. "He didn't do so by accident. It was a clue meant deliberately for us, I'm sure of it, and I have to crack this puzzle."

"I understand your concern," Starfire said, "but is this a puzzle you have to start cracking tonight? We have been through quite a lot today."

Robin grumbled and then let out a sigh. "I can't let up, Star, not right now. We left Slade at that plant. We should've destroyed it, we just weren't equipped at the time to do so. He's producing who knows how many Zynothium weapons by now, and we have no idea why. Finding out who Red X is could help us figure that out."

"I do not want to get in the way of your research," Starfire said, "but I must ask you not to go over the board with this. Taking care of yourself is just as important as the work that you are doing."

"I don't need you to lecture me," Robin said. "If you're not going to cooperate, then leave me alone."

"Unacceptable!" Starfire yelled, so loudly that it jolted Robin. He put the laptop down and looked at her, and for the first time he was seeing how frustrated she was. "Robin, we need to have a discussion about the two of us."

"Okay," Robin said. "You're right, my work can wait for the time being. What's wrong?"

"I am unsure," Starfire said. "Since coming home from Tokyo, we have decided to start dating, but look at what has happened since then. You were injured, Terra was captured, and Slade began working with Red X at the Zynothium plant. We have not spent nearly enough time together, just the two of us, because our work has gotten in the way. That does not even begin to go into how long I waited for you to notice me, to make some kind of request for us to start dating in the first place. I have been waiting patiently for you, but you continue to ignore me. What must I do to get your attention, to get you to understand my feelings?" Starfire stopped talking and started to cry. She buried her head into Robin's shoulder, and he could feel the hot tears streak down his arm. Robin pulled her in for a hug and gently rubbed her back.

"I am so sorry," Robin said. "I had no idea you were feeling this way. I was so self-absorbed in my work that I've been ignoring you. I don't want to keep doing that."

"That is most appreciated," Starfire said, her sobbing starting to die down. The embrace ended, and the two of them looked at each other and smiled.

"We should get some rest," Robin said. "Then, in the morning, I'll start striking a better balance. Thank you for telling me how you were feeling."

"Thank you for listening."

The two of them hugged again, and Starfire left Robin's room much happier than she was when she had entered.

Raven and Jinx entered Cyborg's room, and Raven put Cyborg down on the table that he normally slept on.

"You want my help recharging his system?" Raven asked.

"I think I can take it from here, but thanks."

"Then I'm going to bed. Let me know if you need anything." With that, Raven left the room.

Jinx looked at Cyborg and rubbed her hands together. "Okay, Tin Man, time to get your motor running."

Jinx began hooking up wires and starting the machine that Cyborg used to recharge his battery. She was grateful that Cyborg had gone over this procedure with her, and she was also happy that hers would be the first face he saw when he awoke. She was also thinking about what she would say when she first awoke. An idea suddenly came to her head, and she smirked at the thought of it. She finally finished her work and began the recharging process. Shortly later, Cyborg's eyes opened.

"We lost Robin!" Jinx yelled, looking frantic.

"What?" Cyborg asked groggily, given that he had only charged enough to barely awaken him.

"Slade took him captive! We had to abandon the plant for the time being! We need to come up with a rescue plan now!"

"Are you serious?" Cyborg asked, now alert enough to be properly concerned.

Jinx looked at Cyborg with her eyes bulging, but then she smiled and started laughing.

"Huh?" Cyborg asked.

"Sorry, Tin Man, couldn't resist," Jinx said, still laughing.

For a moment, Cyborg was annoyed, but then he took a breath and smiled. "Very funny," he said.

"Everything's fine," Jinx said. "Everyone made it out of the plant. I don't think you even realized that Slade had us captive in these spheres that negated all our powers."

"I didn't even know that was possible," Cyborg said. "Where would he have possibly gotten those?"

The laughter died as Jinx and Cyborg gave the idea further thought. "That didn't even occur to me," she said. "And he had at least six of them, maybe more. How would that technology even work?"

"I don't know for sure," Cyborg said. "Maybe I can talk to Robin about it, see what he thinks."

"Oh yeah, that reminds me," Jinx said. "Something weird happened when we were trying to bust out of that factory. Terra somehow convinced Red X to help us escape, and Slade called him 'Jason.' Robin said he thought he knew something about him. Does that sound familiar to you?"

"Not really," Cyborg said. "I think Robin and I will need to talk about that, too." He checked his power level, and it was sitting at around 5%. "Can't do much with only five percent of my battery charged. What time is it?"

"About a quarter of six," Jinx replied.

"Morning?"

"Yes."

"My sleep wake cycle is gonna be all out of whack, then," Cyborg said, "but I think getting rest would be the best idea. Thanks for getting me charged back up."

"No problem." Jinx gave Cyborg a kiss on the cheek. "I'll see you later."

Jinx walked out of the bedroom, leaving Cyborg alone with his thoughts.

After Raven had left Cyborg's room after dropping him off for Jinx to recharge him, Beast Boy stumbled down the hallway towards her and skidded just short of knocking her over.

"Are you feeling okay?" she asked.

"Yeah...no...actually, no clue," Beast Boy said. "I think...we probably should talk."

The lack of a lame attempt at a joke indicated to Raven that there might be something wrong. "Okay," she said. "We can go to my room."

"Really?" Beast Boy asked. "You never let anyone in your room."

"It's either that or your room, and I find your clutter...disconcerting."

Beast Boy chuckled. "Fair enough."

The two of them walked to Raven's room. The shades on her windows were blocking out the light of the rising sun, so Beast Boy was barely able to see anything. "Could you, like, put on a light or something?"

"Right," Raven said. She used her telekinesis to flip the light switch, and a dim light made the room just bright enough to see.

"Thanks," Beast Boy said.

Raven sat down on her bed, but Beast Boy remained standing and fidgeting with his hands. He then began pacing back and forth.

"You seem troubled," Raven said. "Are you sure you're feeling okay?"

"Fine, you're right," Beast Boy said. "I'm not okay, like, at all. I'm actually pretty confused."

Normally Raven would hate getting into a discussion like this, but she felt an unexpected level of empathy for Beast Boy. Usually, she liked to reserve her emotions as much as possible to avoid being overwhelmed by her powers, but this felt different to her. Perhaps she had more of a soft spot for him than she realized. "Look," she said. "I just want to let you know that whatever you have to say, I won't get annoyed and I won't hold it against you."

Beast Boy stopped pacing for a moment and looked at Raven. He still appeared to be wavering, but in his green eyes Raven could sense gratitude as well. She offered him a small smile, which he reciprocated.

"This has never happened to me before," Beast Boy said. "I...no, this is gonna sound stupid."

"It's okay," Raven said. "I'm listening."

Beast Boy took a deep breath. "I have...well, you know I have feelings for Terra, already. But...at the same time, I kinda have feelings for you, too."

In an instant, Raven felt excitement, jealousy, and sorrow all at once. She took a deep breath to calm herself, and then looked back at Beast Boy. She could still sense fear and uncertainty, but also a small sense of relief. "I don't envy you," Raven said. "Being drawn to two different people...I can only imagine how hard that must be."

"Yeah, I guess," Beast Boy said. "It's just that when I first met Terra, I was like 'wow…'. It kinda came at me all at once. With you though...it's different. We've known each other for a long time, so my feelings for you kinda got bigger over time. Two totally different types of feelings, but now they're both kinda pulling at me. It's like they're playing tug of war and I'm the rope."

Raven almost chuckled at the metaphor, but she realized that might appear too dismissive. Instead, she rose from her bed and offered Beast Boy a hug. He, although clearly surprised by the gesture, accepted the hug. It was brief, but unless Raven was projecting something that wasn't there, it was also electric.

"I know feelings like that can be complicated," Raven said. "When I feel like that, the best way I know of to deal with it is to make decisions logically."

"Sure, Spock," Beast Boy said with a small chuckle.

Raven was not amused, but she made no gesture indicating as such. "First, you have to take inventory. I think you and Terra have talked enough to know how she feels, right?"

"Well, to be honest, we've never had a talk like this. I'm pretty sure she likes me, too, but maybe that's just me hoping that something's there."

"Okay," Raven said, at this point starting to feel a fluttering in her stomach. "Then you have me. I can tell you at least this much. I…do have feelings for you, too." Her stomach felt like it was on fire now, but she did her best to ignore it.

The look Beast Boy gave her after saying this shook her to her core. She knew that there were some lingering feelings there, but admitting them out loud and seeing his reaction brought a whole level of emotion she hadn't been expecting. Without giving it a second thought, Raven stepped forward and kissed Beast Boy on the lips.

Beast Boy pulled away for just a moment, looking confused. Just like that, the excitement in her stomach became torture. The two of them continued looking into each other's eyes, then Beast Boy stepped forward and the two kissed again. This time, they pulled close to each other. Beast Boy wrapped Raven in his arms, and Raven did the same with him. Their bodies were pressed against each other, and the feeling Raven had in her stomach was even more electric than she could have imagined.

After a few minutes passed, they finally pulled away from each other. Now, suddenly, it felt too awkward for the two of them to look at each other, so they both turned away. Raven walked back to her bed, shuddering with every step, while Beast Boy headed for the door. Before he left, he dared to look back at her, and she looked back at him.

For a few seconds, they just stared at each other, but then Beast Boy ran towards the bed and kissed Raven again. The two collapsed onto the bed, and they wrapped their arms around each other again.

Beast Boy finally pulled away again, looked at Raven, and said "Wow, I...what do we do now?"

Raven sat up and pulled her hood over again, not even sure when it had fallen off in the first place. "I don't know. Um...well, first of all, what are you going to do about Terra?"

"Shit," Beast Boy said, burying his head in his hands. He took a deep breath and then sat up straight. "Well, I mean, there really isn't anything happening between us, so I don't think I need to worry about it."

"If it does come up, though," Raven said, "what are you going to do?"

Beast Boy's eyes widened, and Raven could tell he was petrified. "What do you want me to say?" he asked.

"That depends. What do you want to tell her?"

"I should tell her…" Beast Boy stopped, staring at a part of the wall that suddenly seemed very interesting to him. "I'll tell her that while I do like her, it's not gonna work out, because...because I'm in love with someone else."

It was Raven's turn to be petrified. "What did you say?"

"I said...oh my God! Did I just say that?"

"Yes, you did," Raven said. "Beast Boy...are you saying that—"

"Yes, I do," Beast Boy said with a tear in his eye. "We've been through so much together, and at first I just thought we were really good friends. Because, like, I never really thought that you'd like a weirdo like me. You seemed to have everything put together, and I didn't think a clown like me would stand a chance. But now that we're talking about all this...yeah, I can say that I love you."

Raven could feel a tear in her eye as well, but she wiped it clean. "Garfield," she said, "I realize you probably want me to say the same, but that kind of feeling is...let's just say extremely complicated."

"You don't have to explain, Rachel," Beast Boy said. "I know strong emotions can be hard for you. It's enough for me that I was able to say it without you throwing me out of your room."

"Um...thanks," Raven said. She gave Beast Boy another kiss, more tenderly this time, and the two of them laid back down in the bed.

When Terra arrived back at home, her family rushed to the door and gave her a hug all at once.

"Where were you?" her mother asked. "We were worried sick."

"I'm sorry," Terra replied. "My friends were in danger, and there was no one else close by enough to help."

"We need to talk," her father said. Terra followed her parents and Ashley to the living room. Everyone sat down.

"What is it, Dad?" Terra asked.

"We're concerned about everything that has happened to you over the past few months," her dad replied. "You've been captured and tortured by that Slade maniac. You needed surgery to get God knows what kind of things were in your bloodstream. You've been talking to that Beast Boy kid night after night. Last night you snuck out of the house to go play hero again. This can't continue."

"What your father is trying to say, Tara," Terra's mom added, "is that we're worried for you and we don't want to see you get hurt."

"What was I supposed to do?" Terra asked. "Last night, my friends needed my help. I was the only one who could have gotten to them in time. And these aren't punks or losers or whatever, they're superheroes."

"They're good people," her dad said, "don't get me wrong. I'm worried about you being in danger. I'm worried you're going to get seriously hurt, or worse, killed. That's not what we want for you. We want you to have a normal life, be a regular kid for once. Go to college, build a future for yourself. Enough of this hero business. This stops now."

"And what do you think you're going to be able to do?" Terra asked.

"I'm destroying that communicator," her father replied. "It's your way of communicating with them. Without that, it'll be much more difficult for you to play hero again and jeopardize your safety. Give it to me."

Terra was incensed, staring daggers at her adoptive father. "No, I won't do that. If you can't handle me doing hero work, then there's no place for me here anymore. I'm leaving."

"Tara, young lady, if you take even one step towards the door!"

"Enough!" Terra screamed, and the house shook for just a moment.

"The foundation!" her father said. "What did you do to the foundation?"

Terra had no response. Instead, she fled out of the house. She grabbed a rock and headed to the only place she could think to go.

When she arrived at Titans Tower, she rang the bell, hoping someone would be able to answer. After a few minutes, Beast Boy came to the front door and opened it.

"Terra?" he asked. "Wait, what are you doing here?"

Without giving it even a moment's thought, Terra gave Beast Boy a strong kiss on the lips. Beast Boy was so surprised that he didn't think to pull away.

The kiss finally ended, and Terra gave him an enormous smile. "You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that."

Beast Boy could do nothing but offer a nervous smile in return.

"Can I come in?" Terra asked. "I think we need to talk."

"Uh...sure," Beast Boy said.

"Cool, thanks." Terra gave Beast Boy another kiss, shorter this time, and rushed into the tower. Beast Boy shut the door behind them, his head buzzing as he tried to comprehend the unbelievable timing of it all.
